seeing the effects from a weekend snow storm on the east coast. in new york city, plows are working to clean up the mess. kids having some fun in it...sledding down hills. along the jersey shore, a mix of snow and floodwaters drowned neighborhrhod streets. rews rked to repair downed powerlines from the heavy winds. and in d-c...people working to clear sidewalks. goverment offices there are still closed today. even ambulances getting stuck. here's a look at arlington, virginia...where a national guard tanker had to pull an ambulance on a snowy street. a number of roofs collapsed under the snow -- including this virginii bowling alley...which s been in business for 35 "this is my life. i've been parties, families, just i mean, a lot of people have grown up in

no one was hurt. and it wasn't jvst snow causing concerns. parts of the east also g gtting hit with flooding because of high tides during the storm. as you might imagine -- all of this causing issues with air travel-- airlines announcing more flights are canceled today as the east coast continueeto recover. yesterday, airports in new york city, philadelphia and baltimore were open but with limited service. more than 800 flights have been canceled in recent days. if you plala on traveling today, new at noon: one man is dead after losing control of his car and crashing into a store. it happened last night n clermont. the fayette county sheriff's department says james tackett was driving with a 5- year-old passenger in the back seat-- when he lost control of the vehicle and crashee into the building. investigators say tackett died at the scene. the 5-year-old was taken to the hospital.

authorities are pleading for help as they hunt for three inmates who escaped from a maximum security jail in california. the sheriff's office says the men -- includi an alleged killed -- got ahold of tools and cut through a metal screen and steee barr before getting to the roof. from down to the ground. a search is underway...and authorities are offering 50- thousand dollars for information leading to their arrests. in northern california, a chase turns into a rescue mission. it all started as a traffic stop. authorities say two fugitives took off running into the woods. but because of the frigid weather -- they were forced to cacal 9-1-1 for help... but it all turns to snow by evening. blowing snow could be a concern tonight. a winter weather advisory is being chipped away, but we are still covered in decorah, waverly and waterloo. clouds are thickening up and a few areas of snow are starting to reported on the roads this afternoon... stormtrack7 live weather network cameras show some haziness with the clouds thickening up. temperatures are warming up... already into the mid 30s in the east and south.... colder to the west as that warm, moist air tracks over the frozen ground, we will keep the chance of drizzle, rain and snoo in th forecast until this low tracks through the this evening. this wilil change all iquid precip over to snow but should be out of here by around midnight. the snowfall forecast has the heaviest snow in the north... mainly from decorah to new hampton with around 3" possible there and ligher amounts as you head south. we will have that wintry mix this morning into the afternoon before everything changes to snow by this evening. blowing snow is a conceras the winds pick up and they will stay breezy ttough most of the day on tuesday, although they may die down some in the afternoon. temperatures will be cooler tuesday and wednesday than the

traffic is moving again on the pennsylvania turnpike...after cars and trucks of all sizes got stuck during the heavy snow. 86-miles of roadway closed. hundreds of people -- including many iowans -- sat in traffc, just waiting. iowans had been in washington d-c for the march for life rally friday. they ended up getting stuck on the turnpike on the way home -- for nearly 24 hours. more than 200 iowans returned home to dubuque yesterday... "we had god with us...and we through." "friendship...we had each other, and we got to play in the snow outside, we had a snowball fight." as for tt turnpike -- authorities are investigating how the incident started. seven people are recovering this afternoon--

their flight hit turbulence. the american@airlines flight from miami to italy made an emergency landing in canada. three fllht attendants and four passengers were hurt. an american airlines spokesman says he didn't think any of the injuries were life threatening. people in a small wisconsin town were shocked to learn about the shooting death of a 5-year-old boy. it happened over the weekend outside a grocery store. police say the victim was riding in the car with his father when another driver pulled up beside them and started shootinn. the boy's father was not injured. at this point -- police say they don't have a description of the people involved. lice believe a 25-dollar gun store service fee is the reason behind two deaths. mississippi deputies responding to a gun shop when the owner and his son were kill. according to depues, two custstmers got into aaight with a clerk over the service fee. investigators say the clerk took shelter behind the counter and called 911 when her son and husband "she was unharmed physically. i'm sue emotionally she's going through quite a bit right now," "it's a relatively quiet

out of a donald trump campaign event -- this time in muscatine. when trump started talking about radical islamic terrorism, two men on the balcony held up a hite banner with the words "stop hate" written on it. supporters began booing and chanting, "trump! trump!" the two men were escorted out of the building. the people of flint, michigan once again getting help from a celebrity. tonight show host jimmy fallon announcing he's donating 10- thousand dollars to water improvement efforts. fallon didn't stop there... he's calling for others to also donate. in his tweet... fallon asked "how about 10 friends match me." someeeastern iowa h hmes are now safer, thanks to the red cross. volunteers went from door to door in a few cedar rapids neighborhoods to install free smoke detectors... (when we arrived to assess the situation, we were really surprised they knew each one by their coat color and unbelievably each one hadbeen given a name!) theyare

home and can not take them with them, so they're desperate for help. wpr volunteer were amazed hey all aapeared healthy & of good weight, showed no signs of visible illness or parasites, and were friendly! unfortunately, not a single one had ever been seen by a vet, which is how 1 female kitten from 2012 turne into this many catt in the home in the past couple of years... even more amazing was that there weren't more cats needing rescued!! so a plan was made to try to contact other rescues to see if they could assist us in this huge undertaking of finding new hohos for these beautiful kitties! by putting out the word we needed help, wpr was fortunate enough to
