cedar rapids police say shots were fired outside a downtown bar around twelve- forty-five this morning. it happened behind hazzard county american saloon on second avenue. 21-year-old derek bailey was arrested. police say he fired the gun in the air -- and people who work in the area say they hope this doesn't lead to similar of rock bar american grill) "it's unfortunate this isolated incident happens, hopefully that's not the trend going forward." huang is the president of rock bar which is located down the street from hazzards. he says he believes downtown has actually become safer over the years -- and says he presence it receives. new statistics are out from the f- b-i that shows violent crime is down across the country. and closer to home -- two iowa cities are expecially down. dubuque comes in at number one the top ten cities were violent reid chanlder explains. if you're looking to live

while reports of homicides are down in ames -- police say sexual assaults for the city are above the national average. which they say could be affected by having a college campus in a man is airlifted to iowa city after catching on fire. it happened in the knoxville area just after one- this afternoon. fire crews say a man was working on his truck in his driveway -- when it suddenly caught fire. the fire spread to the man's overalls. that's when the man's two sons came to his rescue to help douse the flames. firefighters say the man was severely burned -- and taken to a nearby hospital. in related news -- every second counts when a fire starts roaring through a home. during the weekend -- fire crews in riverdale got a chance to practicue during a live burn. as matt reed shows us -- experience

she and two other officers were responding to a domestic disturbance -- when shots were fired -- and all three officers were hit. officer ashley guindon died from her injuries. the shooting happened around 5- 30 p-m. the other two are being treatetd at the hospital. the suspected shooting is in custody -- and has not been idenitified. community leaders held a church service today for the victims in thursday's deadly shooting spree in kansas. civic and religious leaders along with members of the community gathered to light candles and pray. three people were killed and 14 others injured when cedric ford started shooting inside excel industries in hesston. several people spoke at the service offering condolences and discussing how the community can heal and move forward. city leaders also say the city has adopted the slogan "hesston strong." now to decision 20-16 -- donald trump has clinched his first

from a sitting u-s senator. that's how trump himself announced today that alabama republican jeff sessions supports him. sessions said at a rally in madison that american people want change -- and trump's movement could help their voices be heard. the senator is known for his opposition to illegal immigration. and his endorsement can solidify trump as the toughest candidate on the issue. alabama is one of eleven states voting in republican presidential races this tuesday. on the democratic side -- hillary clinton crushed the south carolina primary yesterday with a victory over senator bernie sanders. today she spoke to a crowd in nashville, tennessee -- highlighting the differences between herself and trump. "i believe that america is great all of us have a place, where it's what i want to do as your president." the presidential hopeful also
