markets now.. as trump took the lead last night -- investors became uneasy. dow futures were down four percent at one point. however -- financial markets steadied somewhat by the time trump made his speech overnight. we'll take another look in about 30 minutes -- with your farm markets included as well. a large group gathered outside the white house as election returns came in. dozens outside were anti-trump protesters. they gathered just as trump's lea to grow. among the protesters were also trump supporters and less vocal clinton supporters. this presidential race so polarizing -- even former presidents refusing to vote. a spokesman for george w. bush says -- he and laura did not vote for a presidential candidate. but they did vote for other republican candidates on the ballot. the bushes had previously said they were sitting out this presidential election. looking to races in iowa -- republican incumbent rod blum wins the first district congressional race. blum says,

now yesterday, i spoke with blum culmination of two years of very newsroom, shirley descorbeth, news 7 kwwl. thank you shirley former cedar rapids city councilwoman monica vernon had been hoping to unseat blum. but now -- she plans to work with him. pretty quiet last night at the watch party... many showing their support, hugging one another... vernon tells us she hasn't thought about what's next for her. but she will never stop fighting "we had a great run and i will vernon telling blum she will never stop working for the betterment of iowa. and she's happy to work with him. looking closer at the state legislature. in iowa house district 60 -- incumbent walt rogers won against his democratic challenger.

the iowa state house. his district covers cedar falls rogers won with about 58 percent of the vote.... he beat democratic candidate gary kroeger. this is is a look at the black hawk county repbulican watch party last night... there... rogers spoke about how americans want change.. and he thinks that wasn't just reflected in iowa... but also in the presidential election. a big change in the iowa legislature. republicans did end up gaining control of the house and senate. looking at iowa's fourth congressional district in northwest iowa-- incumbent steve king winning re- election easily over democratic challenger kim weaver. and in iowa's second congressional district -- southeast iowa -- democratic incumbent dave loebsack also earning a trip back to washington. a big night across the board for the g-o-p. they also keep controlf longtime iowa senator chuck grassley won easily over challenger patty judge. as kwwl's macleod hageman tells us -- he says he's ready the word i'd use to describe the republican watch coming together to share their feelings for sending senator grassley back to washington dc. forward to keeping his seat in

a pizza delivery man is robbed at gun

and campus apartments. police say last night a man was delivering a pizza when he was approached by a man holding a small-- black pistol. police say he didn't point his gun at the delivery man, but he did ask him to not knock on the door and to leave the pizza. the suspect then took the pizza still looking for whoever did this. if you have any information on this -- please call police. a man is in custody after a deadly crash in cedar falls. pole charles brooks on a warrant for serious injury by a motor vehicle with a class d felony. the crash happened last weekend. police say brooks was speeding when he collided with a dodge caravan-- causing injuries to passngers in the van. 38-year-old cynthia brooks of waterloo died at the scene. an inmate serving a life-sentence for first degree kidnapping --dies after an incident with another inmate. investigators say michael whitworth was taken to the hospital after a fight.

time, but during election season, he says it's especially important. it seems a number of people may not have been joking about moving to canada if trump won. the canadian government's immigration website crashed last night. experts believe the u-s election played a major role. many claimed they would move if trump won. business insider reports the site went down around 9:30 last night, and access has been spotty since. across the country -- a number of problems as people tried to vote. a deadly shooting closed a nearby polling place in southern california. one man was killed and two women were wounded when a gunman opened fire using an assault rifle. officers later found the suspect and there was a shootout. the gunman died -- it's unclear whether officers shot him or he took his own life. the los angeles county sheriff's department does not believe the shooting was directly connected to the election. the north carolina state board of elections extended

precincts following software glitches. some voters arriving at the polls surprised to find that their ballots were already cast. it was apparently a problem with the electronic poll books. the county then switched to paper methods to confirm voter registrations. here in iowa -- the secretary of voter turnout than expected. the number of iowans who voted early -- down about 40-thousand compared to 2012 -- which may have explained busier precincts on election day. will soon be legal in california. proposition-64 passed by a wide margin in the state. it says that adults 21 and older can legally possess up to one-ounce of marijuana... and can grow six plants... california -- the united states -- you show me a statistic of marijuana-related accidents. i wanna know. i can't find them on the internet.
