the fire still smoldering yesterday. the fire chief says they kept water on the main building to keep the fire from spreading on thanksgiving day. take a look at the rubble left behind now. the building that burned--was mostly storage for used oil recyclables. one woman saying this situation "i'm glad it really, like it everything right before the holidays. i'm super greatful that it didn't come across the street and it didn't effect anybody in the residence home.i'm glad we didn't have to evacuate. i'm just, i'm super thankful that it their life." the owner--ecoing that thought process-saying he is thankful nobody got hurt. waterloo firefighters are called out to a garage fire last night. fire and rescue teams responded to 3-20 archer avenue around seven o'clock.. we don't know the extent of damage - we're told some motorcycles may have been inside...,but, no

another fire damages a home yesterday morning. the fire happening on winslow road in janesville. the family was out of town during the fire. crews don't know what sparked the fire-but believe it started in the kitchen. fire crews had to cut through the roof to reach the flames before being able to contain the fire. "we're just repairing the roof getting it covered up for any rain or something like that." firefighters working to make sure no part of the home is left exposed. they also worked to clear out any of damaged in the fire. a kayaker finds what appears to be human bones. it happened yesterday morning at grays lake in des moines. a dive team is in the area - checking out the area. and for now, police are treating it as a crime scene... but they in the next few days. human, but it'll take forensic examination to confirm that. right now we're treating it like they are and hoping for the best, but we're going to treat it like a crime scene.

despite the investigation... police say they won't likely be able to confirm what kind of bones they are until monday. one of iowa's fastest growning cities will soon have a new mayor. north liberty's current mayor amy nielsen was elected to the iowa state house and will vacate her position as mayor by january 9th. the city council has 40 days to either appoint a new mayor or hold a special election. if they do appoint a mayor -- a special election can be forced by collecting signatures of voters. resident who is has made it known that th a once i resign so that they can up having a special election. i don't know what would prevent that from happening at this point." in order for the special election to happen signatures of 15 percent of voters from the last regular city election have to be collected. at halftime of the iowa -

game -- two eastern iowans were honored as heroes. fireifghters credit ken blazek and brock staley with saving a woman trapped in her cedar rapids home after an explosion in june. they shut off the gas and used a fire extinguisher to help pull her to safety. three people from nebraska were also honored. people in cedar falls getting in the holiday spirit this weeekend with holiday hoopla. santa's workshop was vacant all day yesterday -- but people say it's all about being surprised. "my fav he's come by helicopter before. he's come by train before. so, who knows what's going to happen tonight." small business saturday kicks off today at ten and runs until five. jingle mingle will also start december first in cedar falls. pretty soon, we'll start to see some snow here in eastern iowa.

this is a game the hawkeyes totally dominate---particul arly the seniors---iowa senior tight end goerge kittle returns from injury to catch two touchdown passes... and daniels rushed for two touchdowns and gained 1 hundred 60 yards to give over 1 thousand yards for the season--- iowa the defense played great the special teams played great and offensively we put up 40 points i think if you combine everything we played as well as we have all year. and i believe the last three weeks of the season everyone has been believing in eachother we have had our ups and downs but the last three weeks we were going to play together and give it our all as seniors and that is something we have done the last three weeks. the hawkeyes will find out next week where they will go for their

this happened in cedar rapids on i-380 southbound near the first avenue west exit. police were directing traffic when a car hit their police car. the two people who were in the car were pronounced dead on the scene.
