we'll start with the sixers. making changes, jerry coangelo resigning as chairman of basketball operations. he'll be an advisory. bryan named president of basketball operations taking over for sam hinkie who resigned wednesday. >> this is one of the most exciting jobs i believe that's out there in the league right now. it's a situation where obviously, my predecessor sam hinkie has done a nice job of establishing the assets and resources to move forward in a positive way. i'm sorry that sam will not be a part of that. it was intended all along that he would. but the fact that we're moving forward onward and upward, we're all excited about that transition that's happening now. >> meanwhile sixers final home game against the bucks, ish smith drives the baskets.

that was going to happen. you kind of knew the connection. >> it was one of those thing. the night the at any i believe it was december the 7th they announced coangelo was gooding to be here. we think his son will be the next general manager. that was the thought. then they got to a point where people started talking about danny ferry. then it came back. none of this is shocking. in people in the media will say, wow, went know that. they're lying. >> do you like the move. >> i kind of do. reason being i know that bryan coangelo made some mistakes drafting but he's also a guy, you see most of the players they have are guys who he drafted. he had a lot of success with the

game 16 somebody else is coaching. that's how i took it. i think that's what's going to happen. he'll get a chance. but he's not safe. >> i feel bad for him. i do feel like he's a good coach. great guy. you know him very well. i feel like he didn't have any talent to really work with. you know? >> you're exactly right. that's what it is. the like a lot of times people criticize him for his late game coaching and adjustments of stuff like that, but to me, his first year was his best year when he had nba talent. so with that -- when you -- it's hard to judge him when he has to coach every possession because of the players he has aren't able to compete against the other guys. he has to overcompensate and gamble and when things go wrong people want to criticize. >> what does this mean for free agency? will they be aggressive?

you're going to be busy? >> well, they're going to be aggressive. if you're going to say like kevin durant he's the number one target. he won't come here. he's not going to even say -- heel gooding to -- he may pick up the phone, yeah? that's a nice thing you guys are doing in philadelphia. hit me back four, five years. seriously. i mean, a list free agents aren't coming here. they're going to have to get role players, overpay a couple people. they're not going to go out and bring in top notch guys. they're still several years away and the thing about this, yes, they have the money but people want to go somewhere where they feel like they're ready, they can win the championship. if there is a guy who says i want to to come here because i want to get paid. that's not the guy you want in

this was going to be the kind of cap 22 with this team coming in. a lot of guys in and out. so it's going to be interesting to see how this develops into july and august. right now, this bull pen major concern. offense has not been all that great. they've had moments. obviously, the herrera home run was a good sign. starting to worry about how he was getting off. ryan howard two homers. >> ryan is looking ok. ly he's not going to be around very long? >> i believe he'll be here through most of the season. he's a platoon player at this point. just about every measurable, pete mackanin made that pretty clear it's going to be between darin ruf and howard. you hope you can get a little bit of value for him if it gets on a role. gets the 25 homers, gets interested because the price tag
