but this is an underwater thriller. this is a race against the clock. this is a story of survival with these two sisters and srt of that human instinct of fight or flight and how ultimately they're going to make it to the service and get through this extraordinary set of circumstances. >> if you get any pain in your ears, you just need to equalize. >> when this opportunity came, i thought you see the similarities of the kind of story but this was more of a horror film without the supernatural. >> it really is a lot of our worst fears realized. running out of air, facing sharks, being trammed. having no knowledge of what you're doing or what's coming next. >> and all the result two of sisters going out to have some fun, right? >> yeah, having a good time. >> two sisters on vacation that ultimately leads to a lieflth situation they find themselves in. >> amazing. >> it kind of takes your breath aw away. oh, my god. >> that's the biggest shark. >> did you take a picture of me?

[ screaming ] >> we would like to come back now. >> i'm bringing you back up. >> as you sit there and watch this unfold, you two look like seasoned professionals down there. you really do. how much experience did you have with diving and how much of this did you do your own stunts? >> we did a fair amount of the stunts. we did have stunt doubles. there were a few things that production was like, you guys are not going to be falling in a cage from like the -- all the way down the length of the tank. >> it was unbelievable what they went through. they did almost a move shooting in london almost totally underwater in conditions that could be described as funky at best. we did like broccoli in the water to create a murky vibe. and from what i understand,

bathroom breaks were at a premium, you know. >> it's physically demanding and exhausting in a way that like by lunchtime every day normally i'm like cool, i'm ready to tuck into my lunch. i would just nap because my body was so drained. >> it was crazy. and the amount of food you have to consume to just keep up with that level of energy. >> physically taxing. >> oh, my gosh. we were so exhausted. >> especially the screaming and the hyperventilating, all the heavy breathing we were doing underwater, it really does take its toll. >> you know, one of the things that i think matthew did so well, he was always making sure things were being done in a safe and proper way and that us as actors felt sort of taken care of. >> relax. tranquilo. okay? >> the caring giving captain. >> when there's a situation that's really bad, it's good to have a sense of calm about it and be able to say don't worry, kid, you're going to be all right. even if they're in trouble to

try to make them feel calm. it's important you be able to normalize the situation so that you don't create more panic. ♪ >> i saw it. >> what makes you most proud of what you pulled off and put into the world? >> a film like this hasn't really ever been made before. it's really unique in that sense of a film taking place primarily underwater. and with that came all of these different challenges. >> this was a horror film about everything that might go wrong will go wrong, does go wrong. and it was great fun. >> there's a lot to be proud of, and i hope people are really moved and frightened and get every sort of emotion that they're supposed to out of this kind of experience.

>> no. get him inside. >> quick. >> many intriguing elements drew a top-notch cast for the civil war drama "the beguiled." >> sophia e-mailed me and said, i've kind of decided what my next movie's going to be and she sent me the script and she said kirsten's going to play edwina and i want to get nicole for miss martha and would you like to play alicia. automatically you say yes. sophia and i did "somewhere together" when i was 11. that movie was a big opportunity that she gave me. it was just very special kind of moment in my life. and we became very close on that set and remained friends, which is so nice when that happens. we were trying to find another movie to do together. and she wanted to make me the bad girl. >> you're a most unwelcome visitor. and we do not propose to entertain you. >> you'll find them easily amused. >> you won't be here long enough

for that. >> if you had anything in the world, what would it be? >> to be taken far away from here. >> come with me. >> john? >> when the movie starts before meg birney comes into play it's very monotonous, their lives in this house of being very stifled and just confined but also there are cannons that you hear in the background. it's a very scary time, and their emotions are already -- i think there are tensions like something was going to explode at some point and it just happened to be that he shows up, who's also the enemy. he's the union soldier. they don't know if they can trust him or not trust him. and he's kind of playing them but they're definitely playing him. >> it seems the enemy is not what we believe.

>> i had such a blast. we immediately started as soon as i got hired, we started four days later on this incredible journey of building up ten pounds of muscle. and just becoming super, super strong so that we could do all of those stunts and really, really do something that was unusual. >> and believable. >> and believable. yeah. because we really had that. we built up that muscle. but also all of us had done it all together. we'd trained together and we'd created these teams and this camaraderie. and i think that you sense that too. underneath it all you sense that these people are used to doing this stuff together. >> be careful, diana. >> who is this woman? >> she's my secretary, sir. she's a very good secretary. >> it is our sacred duty to defend the world. >> and it is what i'm going to

[ laughter ] strangest thing. this guy's running around the gym wet and naked, rubs into me, knocks me out cold, slam dunk case. now they claim to have this video surveillance footage of me running around the gym wet and naked, hitting a mirror and knocking myself out.
