10:00 am
we rise up to defend our blessing. we rise up to embody the values of equality, opportunity and sacrifice, that have always made this country the greatest nation on earth. that is who we are! and don't ever let anyone tell you differently! hope is important. hope is important for our young people. and we deserve a president who can see those truths in us. a president who can bring us together and bring our very best in us. hillary clinton will be that president. so, for the next 26 days, we need to do everything we can to help her and tim kaine win this election. i know i'm going to be doing it.
10:01 am
are you with me? [ cheers and applause ] are you all with me? roll up your sleeves, get to work, knock on doors. all right, let's get to work. thank you all. god bless. [ applause ] >> and that was michelle obama speaking in front of a crowd, exothering them to get out the vote and blasting donald trump. you heard her give that fiery, passionate speak. i'm hallie jackson picking up our coverage here. i want to bring in immediately my colleague, andrea mitchell, watching that speech along with us. andrea, you've been covering the clinton campaign for a long time. this was michelle obama at her most passionate. talking about her initiative, let girls learn, and tying that to donald trump's comments in that 2005 audio that surfaced on friday, saying that she felt like she needed to speak out. what's your takeaway here? >> this was personal. this was emotional.
10:02 am
we've seen michelle obama give powerful speeches before, at the conventions, both for her husband and then for hillary clinton. but this was a statement, a declaration, really, of a woman who was passionate about the year of the girl, anniversary this week, and then saying how she shamed and how devastated women like herself were to hear the language that's become the daily language of this campaign. she said that, first of all, to even call this locker room banter, the language we heard from the "access hollywood" tape s an insult to all decent men everywhere, to the men in her life. she said the men in our lives don't speak this way. that this is a devastating to young girls, as a parent she's very seized by that. she also spoke of a 6-year-old boy who said to his mother that hillary clinton was going to be elected. why, said the mother? well, because the child said the
10:03 am
other candidate called women piggy, or something of that nature. that even a 6-year-old child knows this is not the way to talk about women. she spoke reaching out to women in a way that i've not heard a political figure speak. not hillary clinton, not anyone else. that no man could speak with the identification and with the resonance of the first lady. it was an eloquent speech. i'm told she framed it herself. she has a brilliant speechwriter, but this was really her declaration and she could not be silent after hearing what she's heard from the tape and from the events of the last couple of days. so, i think this is a signature moment and all on behalf of hillary clinton who was not a natural ally of my chichelle ob.
10:04 am
>> not once did she mention donald trump's name. she talked about the rival, the other candidate, calling his comments intolerable. as you noted, saying this was personal, shaken to her core. do you think over the next 28 days we'll see another speech like this from michelle obama? what's your take? >> i think you'll see michelle obama, you'll see president obama tonight, joe biden this afternoon. look, they are all in in a way that is profoundly important to this clinton campaign. we know how hillary clinton has struggled as a retail politician. this is new hampshire. this is new hampshire where hillary lost to bernie sanders in big double digits. she said, you have to vote. don't stay home, or staying at home is a vote for that other candidate. she just took him down today in every possible way.
10:05 am
hallie? >> andrea mitchell, thank you so much. we appreciate you reacting to that speech we saw just within the last 40 minutes or so here on msnbc. michelle obama, as we're talking about delivering what andrea called a significantly signature moment for her and for hillary clinton as democrats go after his comments about women, his past comments about women, all of it, as we are waiting right now for what's being billed by donald trump himself as a major speech in west palm beach. he's said to be here in cincinnati, where we are, at the arena behind me, later on tonight. we're hearing from him first down in battleground florida. it's been a bit of -- as you take a look at the stage there, as we wait for donald trump to come out, it's been a bit of a split-screen kind of day. trump speaking after michelle obama did, speaking before we expect to hear from other sure gates out on the campaign trail for hillary clinton. we expected trump to start his remarks about an hour ago. he is running late. again, as soon as we see him on
10:06 am
that stage, we'll be monitoring and bringing it to you. you heard michelle obama ripping trump for his comments in that 2005 "access hollywood" tape released last friday. >> last week we saw this candidate actually bragging about sexual assaulting women. and i can't believe that i'm saying that a candidate for president of the united states has bragged about sexually assaulting women. >> trump now facing a flurry of new sexual harassment allegations involving groping and unwanted kissing. trump and his campaign deny the charges. we have to point out to you that nbc news has not confirmed any of these allegations. i want to bring in our team of reporters stretching across the map. from los angeles where clinton is attending a fund-raiser. i want to start with peter al alexander in washington. let's start with what you heard
10:07 am
from michelle obama. do you think donald trump is going to respond directly to her in the speech she's about to give at any moment? >> well, i'm doubtful he responds directly to michelle obama on this. in florida just a short time ago he was at a business roundtable, meeting with some guests there. a reporter in the room, part of the pool, as it's described, asked donald trump if he had ever done any of this unwanted or inappropriate touching, sexually assaulted a woman, groped them without consent. he didn't answer. he sort of sighed in disgust and referred to that reporter as a sleezebag, according to reporters in the room right now in florida. the pushback has been fierce. i doubt he'll push back specifically on michelle obama. i think they want to do the opposite, push forward in their attacks against hillary clinton herself. so, let's break down, if we can, where these allegations stand right now. as you see donald trump arriving there. the most recent from the "new york times" this morning, two women, one of them from 35 years ago, that she was grabbed, that she was groped, that he put his
10:08 am
hand up her skirt on a flight. a second woman saying he basically kissed her on the mouth. trump on twitter responding it was phoney, saying that article was a total fabrication. those are the only opportunities for us to have heard from him. so far, he was supposed to be on fox news tonight, an interview with sean hannity, which we're told he cancelled. >> as we watch now donald trump speaking in florida, peter, i want to get a sense of your reporting from inside the campaign. what's the mood? how are they reacting to what has happened over the last 18 hours? >> i can give you a sense, we're trying to get a sense of what people around the country are saying right now. i was speaking to a senior operative within the trump campaign in the state of nevada a short time earlier today. and this individual makes the point after the "access hollywood" tape came out, they saw a flood of volunteers signing up to be a part of the campaign. he said what solidified our
10:09 am
support in bajts ground states, like nevada, is the sense the supreme court is at stake here. he said there may be issues on both sides. when it comes to the issues that affect this country, whether it's hillary clinton or donald trump, this is not -- this is an easy answer for our supporters. they definitely want the positions that are closer to donald trump than they are to hillary clinton. >> and kasie hunt, you are with hillary clinton out in california where she's doing some fund-raising. you are listening to the michelle obama speech. do you think this is going to be an effective way to bring those undecided voters over to hillary clinton's side? by the way, as we keep an eye on donald trump in florida, monitoring to see if he makes any news. what do you think? >> ever since michelle obama first hit the campaign trail for hillary clinton, those in her campaign and clinton's campaign have been saying that michelle obama is without peer. she is someone who can speak on behalf of hillary clinton in a way that almost no one else is capable of doing.
10:10 am
that's for a variety -- >> i'm going to interrupt you here. i'm sorry to do that. we're going to trump, who is beginning to speak here in florida. he's beyond the thank yous. let's listen in. >> and enrich itself. the establishment has trillions of dollars at stake in this election. as an example, just one single trade deal they'd like to pass involves tril yons of dollars controlled by many countries, corporations and lobbyists. for those who control the levers of power in washington and for the global special interest, they partner with these people that don't have your good in mind. our campaign represents a true existential threat, like they haven't seen before.
10:11 am
this is not simply another four-year election. this is a crossroads in the history of our civilization that will determine whether or not we, the people, reclaim control over our government. the political establishment that is trying to stop us is the same group responsible for our disastrous trade deals, massive illegal immigration, and economic and foreign policies that have bled our country -- has brought about the destruction of our factories -- china and other countries all around the world.
10:12 am
our just announced job numbers are anemic. our gross domestic product, or gdp, is barely above 1% and going down. workers in the united states are making less than they were almost 20 years ago, and yet they are working harder, but so am i, working harder. that i can tell you. it's a global power structure that is responsible for the economic decisions that have robbed our working class, stripped our country of its wealth and put that money into the pockets of a handful of large corporations and political entities. just look at what this corrupt establishment has done to cities
10:13 am
like detroit, flint, michigan, and rural towns in pennsylvania, ohio, north carolina and all across our country. take a look at what's going on. they've stripped away these towns bare and raided the wealth for themselves and taken our jobs away, out of our country, never to return ununless i'm elected president. the clinton machine is at the center of this power structure. we've seen this firsthand in the wikileaks documents in which hillary clinton meets in secret with international banks to plot the destruction of u.s. sovereignty in order to enrich these global financial powers, her special interest friends and her donors.
10:14 am
so true. [ crowd chanting "donald trump" ] [ krout chanting "lock her up" ] >> honestly, she should be locked up. she should be. should be locked up. and likewise, the e-mails show that the clinton machine is so closely and irrevocably tied to the media organizations that she -- that she -- listen to this -- is given the questions and answers in advance of her debate performance with bernie sanders.
10:15 am
hillary clinton is also given approval and veto power over quotes written about her in the "new york times." they definitely do not do that to me. and the e-mails show the reporters collaborate and conspire directly with the clinton campaign on helping her win the election all over. with their control over our government at stake, with trillions of dollars on the line, the clinton machine is determined to achieve the destruction of our campaign. not going to happen. [ cheers and applause ] which has now become a great, great movement, the likes of which our country has never seen before, never ever.
10:16 am
they've never seen a movement like this in our country before. yesterday in florida, massive crowds. people lined up outside of big arenas, not able to get in. never happened before. it's one of the great phenomenons. it's one of the great political phenomenons. the most powerful weapon deployed by the clintons is the corporate media, the press. let's be clear on one thing. the corporate media in our country is no longer involved in journalism. they're a political special interest, no different than any lobbyist or other financial entity with a total political agenda and the agenda is not for are you. it's for themselves.
10:17 am
and their agenda is to elect crooked hillary clinton at any cost, at any price, no matter how many lives they destroy. for them, it's a war. and for them, nothing at all is out of bounds. this is a struggle for the survival of our nation. believe me. and this will be our last chance to save it on november 8th. remember that. this election will determine whether we're a free manation o only -- democracy but, in fact, controlled by a handful of special global interests,
10:18 am
rigging the system, and our system is rigged. this is reality. you know it, they know it, and pretty much the whole world knows it. the establishment and their media neighbors wield control over this nation through means that are very well known. anyone who kral engs their control is deemed a sexist, rapist, xenophobe and morally deformed. they will attack you. they will slander you. they will seek to destroy your career and your family. they will seek to destroy everything about you, including your reputation. they will lie, lie, lie and then again they will do worse than that.
10:19 am
they will do whatever is necessary. the clintons are criminals. remember that, they're criminals. [ crowd chanting "lock her up" ] >> this is well documented, and the establishment that protects them has engaged in a massive cover-up of widespread criminal activity at the state department and the clinton foundation in order to keep the clintons in power. never in history have we seen
10:20 am
such a cover-up as this. one that includes the total destruction of 33,000 e-mails, 13 iphones, some by hammer, laptops, missing boxes of evidence, and many, many other things. people who are capable of such crimes against our nation are capable of anything. and so now we address the slander and libels that was just last night thrown at me by the clinton machine and "the new york times" and other media outlets. as part of a concerted, coordinated and vicious attack. it's not coincidence these attacks come at the exact same moment, and all together at the
10:21 am
same time as wikileaks releases documents exposing the massive international corruption of the clinton machine, including 2,000 more e-mails just this morning. [ applause ] these vicious claims about me of inappropriate conduct with women are totally and absolutely false. and the clintons know it. and they know it very well. these claims are all fabricated. fewer fiction and outright lies. these events never, ever happened. and the people that said them meekly fully understand. you take a look at these people.
10:22 am
you study these people and you'll understand also. the claims are preposterous, ludicrous and defy truth, common sense and logic. we already have substantial evidence to dispute these lies and it will be made public in an appropriate way and at an appropriate time very soon. these lies come from outlets whose past stories and past claims have already been discredited. the media outlets did not even attempt to confirm the most basic facts because even a simple investigation would have shown that these were nothing more than false smears. six months ago the failing "new
10:23 am
york times" wrote a massive story attacking me. and the central witness they used said the story was false. that she was quoted inaccurately. she said i was a great guy. she had great courage, i'll be honest with you. she was an amazing person. and never made those remarks that i was a great guy, and made the remarks. when i read the story, i was sort of surprised, how could she say that? and she didn't say it. we demanded a retraction, but they refused to print it. just like they refused to take the comments from another source, who praised me in her book, or the words of another wonderful woman who said really nice things about me. they put other statements that she didn't say. they misrepresented. the story was a fraud and a big embarrassment to the new york times. and it was a big front page
10:24 am
story, front page, center, color picture, a disgrace. they were very embarrassed. it will be part of the lawsuit we are preparing against them. [ cheers and applause ] now today, the same two discredited writers, who should have been fired from "the new york times" for what they did, tell another totally fabricated and false story that supposedly took place on an airplane more than 30 years ago. another ridiculous tale. no witnesses. no nothing. then there was a writer from "people" magazine. who wrote a story on melania and
10:25 am
myself on our first anniversary. the story was beautiful. it was beautiful. it was lovely. but last night we hear that after 12 years, this took place 12 years ago, this story, a new claim that i made inappropriate advances during the interview to this writer. and i ask a very simple question, why wasn't it part of the story that appeared 20 -- or 12 years ago? why wasn't it part of the story? why didn't they make it part of the story? i was one. biggest stars on television with "the apprentice," and i would have been one of the biggest stories of the year. think of it, she's doing her story on melania, who's pregnant at the time. and donald trump, our one-year anniversary. and she said i made inappropriate advances.
10:26 am
and, by the way, the area was a public area. people all over the place. take a look. you look at her. look at her words. you tell me what you think. i don't think so. i don't think so. but it is amazing, doing a story, a love story, on how great we are together. and by the way, we are stronger today than we ever were before, which is great. but it's a love story. it's a love story on our one year and if i did that she would have added that, it would have been the headline. and who would have done that if you're doing this and you're one of the top shows on television? these people are horrible people. they're horrible, horrible liars. and interestingly, it happens to
10:27 am
appear 26 days before our very important election. isn't that amazing? this invented account has already been debunked by eyewitnesss who were there. they were there. the very witness identified by the author has said the story is totally false. by the way, this is a room everybody can see in. it's got glass walls. it's at mar-a-lago. can you believe this? why wasn't it in the story? biggest story of the year. this weekend "the new york times" published a full-page hit piece with another claim from an individual who has been totally discredited based on the many, many e-mails and letters she has sent to our office over the years looking for work. donald is great.
10:28 am
wanting to go to my rallies. but "the new york times," and this was a full op-ed piece, refused to use the evidence. that we presented. refused to use it. if they used it, if they would have looked, they would have said, there's no story here. others in the media, which almost surprises me because they're dishonest also, were presented with this story by this woman numerous times. and they got very excited. but after seeing the evidence we immediately give them, all of them refused to write the story. there was no story. "the times," though, didn't want to see it. they just wrote the story. this was a full page opposite the editorials. this is part of a converted effort led by "the new york times" and others. now, the new york times is fighting desperately for its
10:29 am
relevance and financial survival. and it probably won't even be around in a few years based on its financial outlook. which wouldn't be a bad thing f you want to know the truth. but as it winds down its years and it's becoming more and more problematic, it's gotten more and more vicious, more and more vile, and even the other mainstream media is talking about the single greatest pile-on in history and all between now and november 8th. and you have to see the stories they've written. it's one after another after another. and facts mean nothing. third-rate journalism. the great editors of the past from "the new york times" and others, ladies and gentlemen, are spinning in their grave.
10:30 am
i will not allow the clinton machine to turn our campaign into a discussion of their slanders and lies, but will remain focused on the issues facing the american people. [ cheers and applause ] [ crowd chanting "trump" ] >> thank you. thank you. but let me state this as clearly as i can. these attacks are orchestrated by the clintons and their media allies. the only thing hillary clinton has going for herself is the press. without the press, she is absolutely zero. and you saw that the other night
10:31 am
in the debate where some people said she made virtually a fool of herself. this is not presidential material, believe me. what they say is false and sland slanderous in virtually every respect. we are now less than a month from the most important election of our lifetime. indeed, one of the most important elections in the history of our country. and the polls are showing us in a dead heat. don't believe what she said. the new highly respected poll just came out this morning, just released, shows us nationally two points ahead, trump.
10:32 am
[ cheers and applause ] just came out. so, now the clinton machine has put forward a small handful of people, out of tens of thousands of people over the years that i've met, that i've worked with, that i've employed, in order to make wild and false allegations that fail to meet even the most basic test of common sense. not even common sense. again, this is nothing more than an attempt to destroy our movement and for the clintons to keep their corrupt control over our government. when i declared my candidacy, i knew what bad shape our country was in. and, believe me, all you have to do is look at world events. all you have to do is look at
10:33 am
the $1.7 billion we sent to iran in cash. in cash. all you have to do is see the way isis was created in the vacuum left by hillary clinton and barack obama out of iraq. all you have to do, all you have to do is look at thele 800 people that were very, very not good for our nation. they were going to be deported. lo and behold, instead of being deported, they were made citizens of the united states. just recently. and, lo and behold, sadly, the 800 people is wrong. it turns out to be close to 1800 people. our president is incompetent. all he wants to do is campaign. and the last thing he wants to
10:34 am
happen is to have donald trump terminate obamacare and do all of the other things that are destroying -- [ cheers and applause ] he's led a very divide nation and it's only gotten worse. and the last thing our country needs is four more years of barack obama. believe me. i've seen firsthand the corruption and the sickness that has taken over our politics. you've seen it and i've seen it and we're all watching together. they knew they would throw every lie they could at me and my family and my loved ones. they knew they would stop at nothing to try to stop me. but i never knew, as bad as it would be, that it would be this
10:35 am
vile, this bad, this vicious. nevertheless, i take all of these slings and arrows gladly for you. [ cheers and applause ] i take them for our movement so we can have our country back. our great civilization here in america and across the siflized world has come upon a moment of reckoning. we've seen it in the united kingdom where they voted to liberate themselves from global government and global trade deals and global immigration deals that have destroyed their sovereignty and have destroyed many of those nations. but the central base of world political power is right here in
10:36 am
america. and it is our corruption political establishment that is the greatest power behind the efforts at radical globalization and the disenfranchisement of work, people. their financial resources are virtually unlimited. their political resources are unlimited. their media resources are unmatched. and most importantly, the depths of their immorality is absolutely unlimited. they will allow radical islamic terrorists to enter our country by the thousands. they will allow the great trojan horse, and i don't want people
10:37 am
looking back in 100 years and 200 years and have that story be told about us because we were led by inept, incompetent and corrupt people like barack obama and like hillary clinton. we don't want to be part of that history. [ cheers and applause ] and, by the way, president obama should stop campaigning and start working on creating jobs, start working on getting our gdp up, start working on strengthening our borders. the corrupt political establishment is a machine. it has no soul. i knew these false attacks would come. i knew this day would arrive. it's only a question of when. and i knew the american people would rise above it and vote for the future they deserve.
tv-commercial
10:38 am
[ cheers and applause ] the only thing that can stop this corrupt machine is you. the only force strong enough to save our country is us. the only people brave enough to vote out this corrupt establishment is you, the american people. we are going to have a policy, america first. [ cheers and applause ] [ crowd chanting "usa" ] they control incredibly the department of justice.
10:39 am
and they even secretly meet with the attorney general of the united states in the back of her airplane while on the runway -- remember, he was there, going to play golf. oh, gee, there's the attorney general. let me go say hello. plane's on the runway. let me go say hello to the attorney general. he never got to play golf, i understand. and it was arizona, a place i love, but the weather was about 100-some-odd degrees. he was never there to play golf, folks. don't be foolish. they met for 39 minutes. and most likely it was to discuss her reappointment in a clinton administration as the attorney general just prior to making a decision over whether
10:40 am
or not to prosecute hillary clinton, okay? that's what happened. that's called real life. and that's pretty sad. they met for 39 minutes. remember, he said, we talked golf and we talked about our grandchildren. three minutes for the grandchildren, two minutes for the golf. then they sat there and they twiddled their thumbs. no, i believe they talked about her keeping her position under a crooked hillary clinton administration. that's what i believe. that's what i believe, folks. that's what i believe. and i think that's what most people in this room believe. [ cheers and applause ] likewise, they have essentially corrupted the director of the
10:41 am
fbi to the point at which stories are already saying that the great, and they are truly great, men and women who work for the fbi are embarrassed and ashamed of what he's done to one of our truly great institutions, the fbi itself. hillary clinton is guilty of all the things that director comey stated at his press conference and congressional hearings. and far more. he stated many things but it's far more. and he knows that. and yet after riedel all of these items where she's so guilt y he let her off the hook. while other lives, including general petraeus and many others, have been destroyed for
10:42 am
doing far, far less. this is a conspiracy against you, the american people, and we cannot let this happen or continue. this is our moment of reckoning as a society and as a civilization itself. i didn't need to do this, folks. believe me. believe me. i not a great company. and i had a wonderful life. i could have enjoyed the fruits and benefits of years of successful business deals and businesses for myself and my family instead of going through this absolute horror show of lies, deceptions, malicious attacks. who would have thought?
10:43 am
i'm doing it because this country has given me so much. and i feel so strongly that it's my turn to give back to the country that i love. [ cheers and applause ] many of my friends and many political experts warned me that this campaign would be a journey to hell. but they're wrong. it will be a journey to heaven because we will help so many people that are so desperately in need of help. in my form life, i was an insider. as much as anybody else.
tv-commercial
10:44 am
and i knew what it's like and i still know what it's like to be an insider. it's not bad. it's not bad. now i'm being punished for leaving the special club and revealing to you the terrible things that are going on having to do with our country, because i used to be part of the club, i'm the only one that can fix it. i'm doing this for the people and for the movement, and we will take back this country for you and we will make america great again. [ cheers and applause ]
10:45 am
the corrupt establishment knows that we are a great threat to their criminal enterprise. they know that if we win, their power is gone and it's returned to you, the people. the dark clouds hanging over our government can be lifted and replaced with a bright future but it all depends on whether we let the corrupt media decide our future or whether we let the american people decide our future. [ cheers and abraus [ . >> if this clinton campaign of destruction is allowed to work, then no other highly -- and this is true. i've heard it all of my life. i've heard it all of my life. if we let this happen, then no other highly successful person, which is what our country needs,
10:46 am
it needs a certain thinking, when you look at our trade deals that are so bad. when you look as an example on trade, we're going to lose almost $800 billion this year, trade deficit. almost $800 billion. our debt has doubled in 7 1/2 years to almost $20 trillion under obama. no other successful person after watching this and no other very successful person will ever again, ever, and who can blame them -- even me, i'd say you're right -- will ever again run for office. i've heard it for years. if you're very successful, you can't run for high office, especially for president.
10:47 am
i said, i don't care. i don't care. i've done so many deals. i've done so well. it's a certain mind set that we need in our country, at least for a period of time. we have to straighten our country out. i will not lie to you. these false attacks are absolutely hurtful. to be lied about, to be slandered, to be smeared so publicly, and before your family that you love, is very painful. what is going on is egregious beyond any words. people that know the story, people that see the story, people that know the facts, they can't even believe it. it's reprehensible beyond descripti description. it's totally corrupt. but i also know that it's not about me. it's about all of you and it's about our country. i know that. i fully understand that.
10:48 am
that's why i got involved. it's about all of us together as a country. it's a movement the likes of which we have never in history in this country seen before. never in history. even the pundits, even the media that truly dislikes donald trump, for their own reasons, will admit, this is a movement the likes of which people have never seen before. and it's a movement about the veterans who need medical care. the mothers who have lost their beloved children to terrorism and to crime. it's about the inner cities and the border towns who desperately need our help. it's about the millions of jobless people in america.
10:49 am
it's about the american workers who can't get jobs because our jobs have left for mexico and so many other countries. [ cheers and applause ] this election is about the people being crushed by obamacare. and it's about defeating isis and appointing a supreme court and a supreme court justice. it could be four or five, who will defend and protect our constitution. [ cheers and applause ] this election is also about, so importantly to me, african-american and hispanic american people, whose communities have been plunged into crime, poverty and failing
10:50 am
schools by the policies of crooked hillary clinton. believe me. she's crooked. they've robbed these citizens of their future. and if we win, i will give them their hope, their jobs, jobs an education, i will give them their security back. the inner cities, education is almost worth less, it is horrible. we are going to have common core ended. we are going to bring education back. cheer you look at the inner cities and you see -- no safety, you walk to the grocery stores and you get shot. you look outside to see what's happening and you get shot. in chicago, 3,000 people have

florida, delivering that was handed out to the declaration of war on the press and on the women who accused him of sexual conduct. he came out quickly denying the allegations. he said they are false and fabricated lie, a vicious attack, he promised substantial evidence to disprove the allegations against. he will release that in the appropriate way at the appropriate time. we have reached out to the trump campaign to find out what it means. as you see on your screen trump is walking off stage right now. these are claims that nbc news has not independently verified and as trump has been denying. he said one o f the woman, look at her words, what do you thin,?

implying and casting more doubts on some of the claims she has made. he's confirming a lawsuit against "new york times." we heard from the "new york times," they're not going to retract their stories. >> nothing in the article that has the slightest effect of our reputation of mr. trump through his words and actions created for himself. the statement from david mccrawl continues. the voices of the women who spoke out in that "new york times" article. we did what the law allows. if mr. trump disagrees and believe that citizens had no right to hear what the women had to say and the law forces us and those dare to criticize him to stand silence and punished, we welcome the opportunity to have

a court set him straight. essentially of what you can call a throw down. trump speaking about seven minutes after michelle obama finished her remark at ls at th republican. i want to bring in kasie hunt because there is a lot to talk about. what we saw on stage was what you could call a full steve banization from trump. he was reading that from a telaprompter. trump almost portraying himself and saying he was happy to take the slings and arrows against him and portraying himself as a mar martyr here, kasie.

michelle obama's speech but i am already getting notes from democrats who feel like this is potentially seminoa moment in t campaign for her. she wanted to get up on stage and make these remarks and she walked through and said, i cannot believe i am saying a candidate of the united states has bragged about sexually assault with women and he talked about what it is like of day-to-day harassment whether you are walking down the streets and having men making comments of your bodies. she also talked about men and boys and how this is not how men talk and how in her view, men are discredited when it is said that this locker room talk is common place. really, quite a decision on michelle obama's part to step in the campaign this way, halie. >> kasie hunt.
