accident still being cleaned up. alternate side parking rules are in effect. thank you. more breaking news now, several people are recovering after somebody opened fire outside a home, we're going to go on to this story. we have person reported dead and four others hurt after a shooting on a college campus. this happening in arizona. officials at northern arizona university's flag staff campus saying the shooter is in custody. it happened near a residence hall that mostly houses the school's greek system. right now students are being asked to stay in their dorms, and we will certainly continue to bring you updates on breaking news as we learn more. now more breaking news, several people recovering after somebody opened fire outside a home in elizabeth new jersey. it happened just after midnight on julia street. four men were shot. they're now being treated at a hospital for nonlife- threatening injuries, and in this case no arrests have been made. lori.
an alleged sexual predator this custody this morning, he's accused of groping several young boys recently, in some cases groping them at a nearby park. now we showed you this surveillance video earlier this week as police put out their urgent call to find him. rob nelson has new details on the overnight arrest. ron. >> good morning lori. this suspect allegedly has been targeting young teenage boys right here at this park behind me for more than two months, and overnight police announced they got him. take a look at this video. this is the suspect in this case who he is 37-year-old greg boyden who lives here in the bronx and is now facing a long list of charges including forcible touching and also sexual abuse. now these incidents began back in august and seton falls park behind me targeting the victims ranging in ages from 12 up to 15. he would allegedly use money to lure his victims before assaulting them. surveillance videos of suspect was released a few days ago as
this community, particularly parents expressed concern about someone so brazenly targeting young boys. >> okay. now the reason there's been so much concern about this case is that this neighborhood is actually home to three schools in pretty close proximity. you can imagine this news coming as great relief to those schools and parents as well. police say they got their guy. reporting live here in the eyewitness news. thank you. 6:04. we're learning new information about the investigation into an armed robbery at the plaza hotel. police release these new surveillance pictures of the suspect. he is accused of holding up the currency exchange inside the hotel late monday night then taking off with 4600 euros, that's about $5000. no one was hurt. 6:04 is our time and a new mission for the u.s. navy. it's going to search for the el
faro. the ship is believed to be on the ocean floor some 3 miles down. investigators at the ntsb ask for the navy's help. the search will begin in the next several weeks. if the ship is located, the navy will try to retrieve its voyage data recorder. the black box could help explain why the ship's engines quit during a hurricane. two of the 33 people lost on that ship were from here in this area. the new york area. and there was a canal side vigil for one of them last night on long island. howard schoenly was from east rock away in nassau county. >> i don't think it's really hit us so much yet. it's been a really tough week. >> the only thing that i feel in my heart that, you know, he was -- you know, you see what he enjoyed most. >> schoenly was the second engineer aboard the el faro. he graduated from east rock away high in 1984. he had worked his way up the merchant marine ranks starting as a deck hand. police in connecticut say an arrest is imminent in the kidnapping attempt of a teenage girl.
bridgeport police found the car involved in the abduction yesterday in new haven. they've also identified the woman who was allegedly behind the wheel. video captured the 17-year-old girl making a daring escape tumbling from the moving vehicle monday after the woman allegedly lured her and then assaulted her. no word yet this morning on what killed the second victim from last week's building explosion in brooklyn. last night authorities positively identified francisca figueroa who had been missing since the blast last saturday. investigators say natural gas has been ruled out as a cause of the explosion, and they're looking into whether it was intentional. now another tenant ligia puello died in the explosion as well. 6:06. house speaker john boehner may not be going home at the end of the month. boehner says he will remain as speaker until he is replaced and with the unexpected withdrawal of kevin mccarthy
a replacement seems to be in chaos. there is word that boehner is pushing former vice presidential candidate paul ryan to run for the job. congressman ryan canceled a number of public appearances but has not yet announced if he is running. mayor de blasio has scheduled his next international trip. this time to israel. the mayor will leave on thursday night and will stay through the weekend. during the visit he will be the keynote speaker at a conference of mayor's event speaking about ways to combat anti-semitism. travel expenses are being covered privately. we have breaking news. this year's nobel peace prize was announced a short time ago, and it's going to a pro- democracy group, the tunisian national dialogue quartet arose as tunisia was going down a bloody path between total collapse or a growing democracy. in the midst of assassinations that shut down the quartet brought together key social groups including unions,

a city in south carolina is paying a 6 1/2 million dollars settlement to the family of an unarmed black man who was shot to death in a cell phone video. walter scott was shot april 4th by north charleston police officer michael slager while trying to run from a traffic stop. a judge refused to set bond for slager last month. ed to president obama will travel to oregon to visit with the families whose loved ones were gunned down at a local community college. the president spoke out immediately after last week's shooting calling for changes to gun laws to prevent tragedies in the future. nine people were killed, several others hurt before the
suspected gunman killed himself. gun rights supporters are expected to protest today's visit. full service resumes on amtrak's line after a derailment that left seven people hurt. it will make all stops between washington d. c. and north vermont for the first time since monday when a rock slide caused a train to jump the tracks. crews removed the damaged equipment from the track two days ago, and trains were running on a modified schedule yesterday. time to check the accuweather forecast. >> let's step outside with bill evans. how is it? >> it's absolutely comfortable. really nice, a light wind, southerly wind, it's very comfortable this morning. you might need a jacket in the suburbs. the temperatures are way warmer for this hour of the day. here's what's going on. we take a look outside. we're going to have a beautiful sunrise at 7:00. we've got skies now that are partly cloudy. we're looking at 81% humidity. we're looking at clear to partly cloudy skies, a calm wind.
the pressure's at 30.05 and holding steady. we're going to find ourselves looking at comfortable weather today, not a washout but warm summer-like weather. there's a few lines of showers and thunderstorms. the weekend is going to be nice and fall-like. 58 around hauppauge. you see over there towards north port and massapequa. how warm? it should be at about 52 degrees in the five boroughs to 50 to 40 north and west. we're running 10, 12 degrees warmer than normal. that's warm air surging ahead of a cold front. the front gets here after lunchtime today at 3:00 until 8:00 tonight. that's going to plow right on through. here's our futurecast. there's a line of showers. there might even be a heavy downpour or thunderstorm in there. but it's gone tonight and by 10:00, 11:00, we start to feel that wind shift around to the north and northwest. breezy and much cooler overnight and really nice weather is on the way for the weekend. after school kiddos, watch out for a rain shower. watch out for a thunderstorm. there could be some lightning in there.

now the dow jones saw a triple digit gain of nearly 1%, and the s&p 500 begins above the 2,000 mark. futures are lower across the board right now. checking international stocks, japan's nikkei average and hong kong's hang seng finished higher overnight. an important safety recall involving infant highchairs. roughly 35,000 safety first highchairs are being recalled after reports that children were able to remove the tray. that caused at least eleven kids to fall out of the highchair and injure themselves. the recall is for three types of chairs sold between may of 2013 and in year. you can find the exact model numbers if you go to our website abc7ny. the days of cheap unlimited data service are coming to an end for some long-time verizon customers. the company plans to raise the price of its unlimited data plans from 30 to $50 per month.

authorities say a 45-year-old man was shot and killed outside chester section. this happened at 4:45 this club on boston road. and head. hospital. no arrests have been made. 6:31. now to a developing story, and a major break in the search for a sexual predator in the bronx. one man now in custody for a young boys. mostly in the edenwald section. overnight we learned of another alleged victim. eyewitness news reporter rob nelson live with more on the person under arrest. rob, good morning. good morning, ken. these disturbing incidents began back in august, and as you said overnight police have announced an arrest and a long list of charges against the suspects. speaking of him, take a look at this video. this is the man police nabbed overnight, greg boyden of the bronx. he is now facing a long list of charges including forcible touching and sexual abuse.
police nabbed him last night for a string of sexual incidents targeting teenage boys ages just 12 to 15 that happened at seton falls park here in the bronx. the boy allegedly used money to lure his victims and assaulted them. he now has been formally linked to four separate incidents. the news will come as a relief to teachers in the three schools in this area worried about the safety of their students. >> scares me as a teacher in the community and especially because all the kids, you know, we see them every day for their safety, we just want them to be safe. before the arrest, we were aware of three incidents, but now after the arrest, we have learned of a fourth incident in which the suspect allegedly texted a lewd picture of himself to a 13-year-old boy and also offered that boy money for sex. reporting live in the bronx, rob nelson, channel 7 eyewitness news. rob thank you. it's 6:32.
in trouble with the law faces new charges after police say she led them on a chase in a stolen ambulance. last night's incident started at st. catherine of siena medical center in smith town when detectives say melina sillsby escaped from her police guard. sillsby and the driver of the second vehicle are expected to be okay. sillsby is set to be arraigned rayer today. learning more about the driver on the fiery crash on the new jersey turnpike killed when his tanker truck overturned and burst into flames. jsk transport says dalip kumar crashed wednesday in kearny after swerving to avoid mattresses that fell from the roof of another vehicle. that driver stayed on the scene and has not been charged. 6:33. five new york city firefighters
were injured battling an apartment fire in the bronx. the fire in the longwood section spread to three alarms between the top floor and the roof. investigators say they think it may have been caused by an electrical short. about 20 residents had to be forced from their units. if you happen to rely on the air train service at kennedy airport, you're going to face major disruptions starting tonight. service being suspended each night between jamaica and federal circle stations from 9 p.m. until 2 p.m. the next afternoon. the disruptions will continue until next wednesday october 14th. free shuttle bus service will be available, but you know the buses are going to be taking a lot longer to where you're going to be going. >> oh yeah. and it's been a long drought for mets fans, but tonight their playoff hopes are going to be realized. >> mets with are going to play their first division series in a decade against a team they beat last time. the team traveled across the

flag staff campus. one person was killed. three others were hurt. it is unclear if the victims are students. officials say the shooter's in custody and the campus is not on lockdown. 6:42. a funeral will be held for the hospital employee found dead inside a bathroom atmont fee ewe medical center. friends and family gathered for anthony iuso's wake. he was found five days later locked inside a public restroom in the hospital. the investigation into his death continues. his funeral will be held this morning at st. francis xavier church in morris park. a family from long island is searching desperately this morning for a missing man who simply vanished. 29-year-old yucigerson was heading to queens it meet a family. he was struggling recently

developing right now, police are searching for the person who opened fire on a street in elizabeth shooting several people. this happened just after midnight outside a home on julia street. four men are being treated for nonlife-threatening injuries after the shooting. parents and teachers at three bronx schools can feel
some relief with the arrest of a suspected sexual predator. >> eyewitness news reporter rob nelson is live now in the edenwald. rob. >> reporter: good morning. as you said, absolutely a big relief not just to parents in this area, but also to the teachers at three nearby schools. take a look at this video. this is the man now under arrest. 37-year-old drake boyden lives in the bronx. police say he's linked to four separate incidents in seton falls park since august in which teenage boys were sexually assaulted. charges including forcible touching and sexual abuse. his victims range from age from 12 to 15 years old. we knew of three incidents prior to his arrest, but we also learned overnight over a fourth incident and that is linked to the fact that he texted a 13-year-old boy and even offered him money for sex and he texted him actually a lewd picture of himself, but again, a big relief to this area. that man now under arrest and officially charged.
