holland, they are doing fine. alternate side of the street parking rules in effect. lori, over to you. >> thank you. developing in new jersey, we just learned new details about a violent family fight that left several people stabbed. it happened on a typically quiet street in teaneck. kala ham may is line on the scene with new reaction from a family member. >> right, lori. i just talked to the grandson of the woman that lines here in this home on the phone. he confirms what police told us, that at least two people were stabbed after two adult brothers got in a fight involving their elderly mother. they were seriously stabbed at this point. we know that police are only saying that their conditions are serious and they were brought to the hospital, one to englewood and the other to holy name hospital. this all unfolded around 11:00 last night. in the last 15 minutes as i mentioned, i talked to the

that lives here involved in this incident. he is also the nephew of the two brothers who were fighting. he says the police went to his mother's house, the brother's sister, letting him know the mother and one of the brothers was seriously injured. >> mental health issue. my uncle, he had issues since he had, i believe, brain damage decades ago and i have never heard in my family about anything like this, you know, anything even close to something like this where, you know, anything like this would happen. so, it's really a shock to all of us. >> reporter: sterling harrison is trying to get in touch with more of his family members to figure out how this all exactly unfolded. we have asked police if someone is in custody or if they are searching for a suspect. they are referring all of our questions to the bergen county prosecutor's office.

the building which used to be the tompkinsville hospital is being torn down. letter his funeral will be held at 10:00 this morning at our lady of mount carmel church in port richmond. breaking news on the u.s. military mission in afghanistan. president obama is set to announce later today that he plans to maintain a force of 9800 troops, enough to continue hunting for al-qaeda and isis militants. this is a significant about face for the president. he had planned to withdraw virtually all u.s. troops by the end of next year accept for those needed to protect the u.s. embassy. 5900 troops will remain in afghanistan by the time the president leaves office in 2017. happening today, mayor de blasio is heading to israel. the trip was planned before the recent string of attacks in jerusalem. he will visit a multicultural school known as hand in hand, center for jewish education in israel.

arson attack in november. last night the mayor hosted the first town hall meeting of his time in office. the focus was on the soaring cost of rent in the city. hundreds of folks turned out for the meeting held in washington heights. that neighborhood and inwood have 53,000 rent stabilized apartments, the most in the city. >> so much of what we are trying to do is to come together in this neighborhood. this is one of the places where the fight to protect affordable housing is most intense, where the need is the greatest. >> the town hall participants were invited by about 20 civic groups. many of them spoke spanish and had to rely on interpreters provided by the mayor's administration. happening today, a ceremony renaming the municipal building in lower manhattan in honor of david dinkins. mayor de blasio said that he is changing the name as a tribute to dinkins' contributions to the five boroughs including

researchers say a former nfl player who committed suicide had a brain disease linked to repeatedly. adrian robinson junior was 25 years old when he died in may. officials at the brain back at boston university say he had chronic trough mat particular encephalopathy. a lawyer says he suffered several concussions in his two seasons in the nfl wrapped his family noticed a change in his behavior. a local woman who sued her nephew on his th birthday in connecticut is now feeling the wrath of social media. jennifer connell says that her nephew jumped to greet her when she arrived at the home in west port four years ago. she fell and broke her wrist. she lost the lawsuit seeking $127,000. now she has become the focus of intense and vicious tweets and

just heard from family members after a violent attack inside a home in new jersey. two people were stabbed. eyewitness news reporter kala rama is live on the scene. >> reporter: we talked to the grandson of the woman involved in this stabbing in the last hour. he basically confirmed what police told us, that at least two people were stabbed inside this home after two adult brothers got in a fight involving their elderly mother, okay. now, right now police are only saying that their conditions are serious. they were brought to the hospital, one to englewood and the other to holy name hospital. this fight and this incident all unfolded just after 11:00 last night. i talked to the grandson as i mentioned of the elderly woman involved in this incident. he is the nephew of the two brothers who were fighting. he says the police went to his mother's house, letting her

as soon as they get back to us, we will have an update. kala rama, channel 7 eyewitness news. >> kala, thank you. new this morning, dramatic video of a frightening and fiery scene on long island. investigators say that a police officer put his on life on the line to pull a man out of this fireball last night. an emotionally disturbed man became aggressive. the man allegedly set himself on fire sitting in the vehicle. the officer then quickly pulled him to safety as flames engulfed the s.u.v. the man was taken to the hospital with nonlife- threatening injuries. investigators are awaiting the results of tests to determine what drugs former nba star lamar odom took before being found unconscious inside a nevada brothel. he continues to fight for his life this morning. those who found him told investigators the former basketball player was doing

the secretive members of a central new york church are the focus of an intense

investigation after the beating of two brothers to make them confess their since. 19-year-old lucas leonard died monday. his 17-year-old brother is hospitalized in serious condition. police found him after they spent hours search the church in newhart ford. the parents and sister are locked up along with another church members that conducted the so-called counseling session. police are looking to speak to three women after a man was stabbed on a city bus on staten island. investigators released these pictures of the women they say were on that bus with the stabbing suspect. all this happened tuesday. police say the suspect argued with the victim over a bus seat and that's when he pulled out a knife and attacked. in new haven but no major problems to report. everything is on or close including subways which are on or close. l.i.e. westbound side near exit 33 that accident is still with us. you can see we have a heavy delay as you come in to that spot. then over here on the gowanus expressway outbound near fort hamilton parkway, an accident. the accident has been cleared. let's go to a webcam. this is where it was over here. it doesn't look like that is a car any more. it looks like debris leftover. but we have a delay. effect. >> thank you, heather. a family in the bronx is doing what it can to find a stolen pet. burglars took three-month-old home tuesday. the thieves stole a thousand bucks and attacked the family's other three dogs with pepper spray and a paintball gun.

telling us all morning that two people have been stabbed inside this house after a fight broke out between two adult brothers involving their mother here. so, police have been here since the incident happened around 11:00 last night. they have been here collecting evidence outside and inside the home where the fight broke out. right now police are only saying that their conditions are serious and both the victims are at nearby hospitals. i talked to the grandson of this woman who believes this is a domestic matter and he is on his way up here. he believes the issue is serious. police are not telling us if arrests have been made. live in teaneck, kala rama, channel 7 eyewitness news. a police officer put his life on the line to pull a man out of this van. he set himself on fire. the officer pulled him to safety.
