this is this is new york's number 1 news, channel 7 eyewitness news with lori stokes, and ken rosato, heather o'rourke with traffic, and bill evans with the exclusive accuweather forecast. now eyewitness news this morning. good morning, it's 4:30, and this week friends, loved ones and the nypd family will say good-bye to officer line of duty. a key piece of the investigation was found, and this as the community gathers to celebrate his life. >> dramatic pictures of a whale watching boat in canada that capsized. at least five people are dead.

recovery efforts are underway. >> the mets are in kansas city on the royals. huge celebrations are brewing as the franchise getting set for their first world series >> i'm lori stokes. >> i'm ken rosato. >> it is monday october 26th, and you're never more than 7 minutes away from weather and traffic. meteorologist bill evans with your exclusive accuweather forecast. >> it was nice, warm yesterday. the temperature was at 68 degrees. we're going to be a little cooler today. we're starting out at 48, which is a little warmer than normal. it might drop the temperature a few more degrees before we get to sunrise. hauppauge is at 47 and north port at massapequa are at 49. this is a nice fall morning out there with a little wind. you need jackets and sweaters, that sort of thing. today we'll warm up into the upper 50s. that will be close to normal for this time of the year.

7 minutes. >> good morning,. >> hope you had a great >> i did. >> i just have to tell you we got word that route 18 in marlboro is closed. there is an accident. metro north new haven line, that ongoing track work, all lines of long island railroad, fine. close to schedule. as you go on to the new york state thruway it's an accident. overturned tractor-trailer involved in that one. we do have alternate side of the street parking rules in effect. thank you. at 4:32, loved ones are preparing to say good-bye to nypd officer randolph holder. he was gunned down in east harlem last week. tomorrow tyrone howard one of the suspects accused in the killing is expected to face a judge. the investigation continues after a gun which police believe was murder was recovered in the east river.

eyewitness news reporter dray clark live in east harlem with more. >> reporter: good morning, ken, this memorial behind me is one expression showing how much officer randolph holder was loved and admired within the nypd family. so many flowers and cards and candles outside psa5 here. officer holder's official funeral isn't until wednesday but last night members of the community celebrated his life through song and prayer. several hundred people including his father and fiancee attended the service. officer holder was shot and killed last tuesday pursuing a suspect here in east harlem. officer holder immigrated here from guyana. he was only 30 years old. early sunday morning around 3 a.m., 20 feet below the river nypd dive team members found the 40 caliber semiautomatic handgun that they believe was used to kill officer holder.

it's believe tyrone howard tossed the gun in the river after he allegedly killed officer holder. officer holder's fiancee spoke last night about his life and the pain of her loss and also talking about the last time she saw him. >> i have no idea where he kissed me on tuesday and said i love you. i'll see you later. that would be the last time i see him. >> now the national action network actually tweeted out this photo showing holder's family with reverend al sharpton. the network says that holder's family has actually asked reverend sharpton to deliver remarks at officer holder's funeral on wednesday. back here live outside psa5 you can see that photo there showing the young officer here surrounded by, again, so many flowers here and cards. this memorial only growing overred weekend. we were here on friday and coming back here on monday it's

even larger than what we saw when we were here last. we're expecting 20,000 police holder's funeral. we're live in east harlem, dray news. thank you. and the public viewing for officer holder will take place tomorrow at the greater allen a. m. e. cathedral of new york in jamaica queens from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. funeral services will be wednesday afternoon at 3. 4:35. in part because of officer holder's death community activists want the police force to know they have the support of the city's citizens. they announced at headquarters that support rallies will be held simultaneously in all five boroughs tonight at 7 p.m. those rallies will be held at nearly every precinct in the city and are being coordinated with local clergy. organizers say this is a gesture of respect.

the nypd union leader is calling for a boycott of quentin tarantino movies after the -- pva president pat lynch released a statement calling the oscar winner a cop hater who makes a living glorifying crime and violence. the tarantino said many people had traveled to new york city to attend the event. the countdown is on and the mets are now just a day away from playing their first world series game since 2000. they're waking up in kansas city today, but there are two big hometown rallies underway right back here. eyewitness news reporter kala rama is live now at queensboro where fans and former players will be celebrating laterred to. >> reporter: two major rallies today, one in nassau county

at 3:00 in front of queensboro park here. come the afternoon, this area they'll ooh standing in will be a sea of orange and blue. so many fans are expected out here that queens boulevard westbound lanes will be shut down from 1 to 6 this evening. meanwhile, as you know the mets have made their way down to kansas city and they're already getting down to business in missouri. we saw them as the team arrived in missouri yesterday. the players worked out in kc for the first time yesterday and there's another workout scheduled today. the mets and royals have only met nine times in their history. they haven't played each other in kansas city since 2004. captain david wright said the royals seem like a mirror image of the mets. >> it just seems like, you know, they're competitive, you know, fiery bunch, i think kind of like our guys. you know, it just seems like they kind of never go away.

in the world series. rescue efforts are still underway but canadian authorities say at least five people have died when a whale watch boat sank off vancouver island in british columbia. there were 27 people on board, 21 were taken to the hospital and one is still unaccounted for. more than a dozen boats rushed to the scene. the searchers found bodies, lifeboats and the bow of the sinking ship still above water. the 25-year-old woman who authorities say drove into a parade, parade goers at a home coming game is expected to appear at court >> deja chambers is charged with four counts of second degree murder. chambers plowed into a crowd saturday. four people died, dozens were chambers was officially facing a charge of driving under the influence but her lawyer intoxicated. >> she only remembers from what

of the crash, people removing her from the car, shards of glass being everywhere, and her being extremely confused. >> three adults and a 2-year- old child died in that crash. the number of critically hurt now stands at 4. new jersey governor chris christie is apologizing after apparently making too much noise on an amtrak quiet car. the governor's office says christie accidentally took a seat in the quiet area on the express from washington d. c. to new york yesterday morning. witnesses say he was speaking loudly on his phone and asked to leave the car. aides say left once he realized his mistake. a fellow passenger posted pictures on instagram of christie departing. it's 4:40. you're never more than 7 minutes away from weather and traffic with bill. >> they don't play on that quiet car. they don't care who you are.

. 4:45. a super soaker down south, more than 20 inches of rain coming down on the bible belt south of the dallas, more than 70 rescues including a man and his dog. the flood waters were so powerful they actually derailed train cars further south in galveston, 50-mile an hour winds and 10-foot waves caused an empty tanker to run aground. the water is draining in most parts of texas but flash flood watches remain in effect. that is some serious water. let's check this with meteorologist bill evans. >> first off, here's a look from our roof camera toward midtown here. the lights are on at wollman rink right there. this morning we're going to be seeing the moon for you. we show you that from our crew. thank you very much. beautiful full moon out this morning, clear skies, very comfortable, cool and crisp.

it's going to be a nice start to your day. here's what's going on. we're looking at temperatures starting out around 34, 35 o's degree. it's a morning when start out about 48. winds are north at 3 and the pressure rising pointing to a great day. you see it's a little cool and crisp up in here towards the catskills, 37 around monticello, 37 andover, down around phillipsburg, 38 white plains to rocklin county, east around west orange. got a light wind. it's mostly out of the north, a light to a calm wind today, high pressure is coming across. it's going to make for a great day. this is the remnants of patricia putting a lot of rain mississippi, alabama, tennessee. this will keep cutting on up through the ohio valley. canada. we'll be on the eastern side of that. we get rain out of that

an explosion of fire tore apart a home in tuneton massachusetts. neighbors say their homes were rocked by the strength of that explosion. florida police have arrested the woman who called 9- 1-1 to say that she had found her neighbor stabbed to death. 67-year-old debra kinsey is facing murder charges for the tuesday night killing. the victim charlotte nichols was stabbed 70 times in the torso, neck and head with knife or screwdriver. after the killing it was kinsey who spoke with reporters and cried about the tragedy. >> i walked towards the kitchen because she said something about doing dishes earlier. >> after the killing she

allegedly went to a local pawnshop to sell the victims' rings. 4:51. a utah teen remains hospitalized following some terrifying moments in his high school gym class. surveillance cameras captured the moment 14-year-old skylar nelson collapsed. turns out skylar's heart had stopped. a vice principal knew to jump into action. >> he was gone. i mean, for the most part from what we saw, he was gone. and so, you know, we just did what we were trained to do, and you know, anybody in that situation i think would have done the same thing. >> i'd like to say thank you very much, and i'm grateful and god bless you. >> skylar was born with a he underwent heart surgery and is now expected to make a full recovery. timing is everything right? >> it is 4:51. coming up on eyewitness news this morning, two men are behind bars after police say they held three people at

it's 4:56 and police in new jersey arrested two men accused in a violent home invasion. this happened early saturday morning in garfield. prosecutors say 22-year-old xavier epps and 21-year-old tymell white forced their way into a home at gunpoint and the ground. assaulted someone before other electronics. police are searching for a third suspect. >> family members and loved ones say good-bye to officer randolph holders two days before his funeral and a viewing open to the public tomorrow. >> we have new information overnight in the search for the gunman behind a deadly shooting outside a bronx strip club. police have named a suspect. they just can't find him. >> and meteorologist bill evans has your exclusive workweek accuweather forecast. it's starting off real nice but somewhere toward the middle of the week things do a little changing.

new jersey where route 18 is closed down on the southbound side near newman springs road because of an accident. all lanes are shut down. as you head through wappingers falls you'll find route 9 closed with that accident and the new york state thruway south near exit 14, overturned tractor-trailer off on the shoulder but it is causing a little delay. subway services on or close to schedule. hudson parkway ongoing construction blocking one lane. we have our street cleaning rules in effect. thank you. it's 5:02 and family, friends and loved ones are preparing to say their final farewells to officer randolph holder killed in the line of duty almost one week ago. the gun believed to have been used to shoot and kill officer holder was discovered early yesterday morning in the east river. investigators are continuing to comb the area around the fdr drive for any additional evidence.

clark is live at the precinct officer holder served in east harlem. >> reporter: standing outside psa5 here in east harlem there is no doubt that officer randolph holder's death has had a tremendous impact on not only his nypd family but also the community. so many expressions of grief and gratitude within this large memorial for the fallen officer here. last night several hundred members of the community held a celebration of life service for officer holder. there was singing and praying, stories shared and memories recalled of officer holder's life. the officer was shot and killed last tuesday pursuing a suspect here in east harlem. his accused killer tyrone howard was arrested a short time later. officer holder immigrated to the u.s. from his native guyana. he was 33 years old and a five- year veteran of the nypd. among those at the tribute service was his father and his fiancee.

he saw the good in everyone. he was -- you know, he loved his job. he wanted actually to be a detective. >> reporter: and last night officer holder's family was seen in this picture here with reverend al sharpton. this is actually a picture tweeted out by action network. the network says officer holder's family contacted the reverend al sharpton and asked if he would deliver remarks at officer holder's funeral on this coming wednesday. back here live outside psa5 you can see one of the expressions of grief for officer holder is this poster here. it reads new york's finest, police officer randolph holder when a hero falls an angel rises. again, a very large and still growing memorial for the fallen officer. meanwhile we're expecting possibly as many as 30,000 police officers from around the country to attend wednesday's funeral service for the late officer.

we're live in east harlem, dray clark channel 7 eyewitness news. thank you. and the public viewing for officer holder will take place tomorrow, and the greater allen a. m. e. cathedral of new york in jamaica queens from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. funeral services will be there on wednesday afternoon at 3 officer holder will be buried in his native guyana. 5:05. new this morning, on -- new information this morning a deadly shooting outside a strip club in the bronx earlier this week. 26-year-old garrett warren is the suspect in the killing of jose feliciano. the shooting happened outside the key club and cabaret. that happened october 9th. police say feliciano became involved in a fight between two women in the parking lot. one of the women is believed to be warren's girlfriend. warren shot feliciano after feliciano punched him. police search for the killer who shot a bronx grocery

investigators released these new jerseys overnight -- images overnight. they're trying to find these men in connection with a shooting that left a man dead. they left and one came back and shot the worker. >> he was really a nice guy. he didn't deserve to die like that. >> we used to come here and just relax. so for someone, for that to happen you know, is kind of messed up. >> police say this vehicle was seen leaving the scene shortly after the shooting. if you have any information you are asked to call crime stoppers. that number 1-800-577-tips. a 15-year-old in new jersey is accused of shooting two weekend. the suspect lives in the same neighborhood where the two 16- year-olds were shot down the street saturday night. critical condition. the suspect was taken into custody yesterday and charged with attempted murder, assault, ask weapons charges. it's still unclear if the

victims were the intended targets of the attack. it's 5:07. the united auto workers union and general motors have a tentative contract agreement this morning. the deal avoids a strike for now. the uaw had set a deadline of midnight to reach a new agreement or go on strike. union leaders will meet in detroit wednesday to vote on the deal. if it is approved, union members will then vote. 5:07. and the mets are now just a day away from playing the franchise's first world series game since 2000, and they're waking up this morning in kansas city where the fall classic starts tomorrow night. the mets held their first workout in kc yesterday. another is set for today and media. manager terry collins says the world series routine is an adjustment. >> it's going to be new, and it's going to take time. we've got guys that even though it's just a workout, it takes them -- they go through a

of officer randolph holder killed in the line of duty almost one week ago. there are several planned tributes for him. we are hearing from his fiancee for the first time. dray clark live in east harlem with the story. >> reporter: good morning ken. this memorial outside psa5 here in east harlem is just one expression of how much officer randolph holder was loved and admired within the nypd family. officer holder's official funeral isn't until wednesday. last night hundreds of members of the community celebrated his life through song and prayer. several hundred people including officer holder's service. officer holder was shot and killed last tuesday while harlem. he emigrated here to the u.s. from his native guyana. he was only 33 years old and a five-year veteran with the nypd. early sunday morning around 3 a.m. 20 feet below the east river

nypd dive team members say they found the 40 caliber semiautomatic handgun that they believe was used to kill officer holder. it's believed accused cop killer tyrone howard tossed the gun in the river after he allegedly shot and killed officer holder. officer holder's fiancee spoke about his life and the pain of her loss and seeing him for the last time. >> i have no idea when he kissed me on tuesday and said i love you. i'll see you later that that would be the last time i see him. >> reporter: now the national action network actually tweeted out this picture of officer holder's family with reverend al sharpton. according to the national action network, they say holder's family reached out to the reverend asking him to deliver remarks at holder's funeral on wednesday. meanwhile, back here live outside psa5 you can see just a tremendous amount of cards and candles and flowers, a very large memorial that we expect will only continue to grow,

wednesday, the day when officer holder will be celebrating, his life celebrated in queens. we're expecting some 20 or 30,000 police officers from around the country to attend his funeral, and we also know that jetblue is offering those officers who are coming from around the country free air fare so they can attend the funeral for officer holder. dray thank you. and the public viewing for officer holder will take place tomorrow at the greater allen a. m. e. cathedral. funeral services will also be there on wednesday afternoon. that starts at 3 p.m. holder will be buried in his nightive country of guyana -- native country of guyana. the nypd union leader is calling for a boycott of quinton tarantino movies. the director participated in a protest against police brutality days after the death of officer randolph holder.

pat lynch released a statement calling oscar winner a cop hater who "makes a living glorifying crime and violence." tarantino said the timing of saturday's rally was unfortunate and said many people had traveled to new york city to attend the event. he said "i'm here to say i'm on the side of the murdered." the 25-year-old woman accused of driving into parade spectators at a home coming game is expected to appear in court today. adacia chambers has been charged with four counts of second degree murder. police say chambers plowed into a crowd at the oklahoma state university home coming parade on saturday. four people died including a 2- injured. chambers was initially facing a charge of driving under the influence but her lawyer says intoxicated. >> she only remembers from what was communicated with me the end of the crash, people removing her from the car,
