kew gardens into jewel avenue. mass transit is doing well at this point and our street cleaning rules are in effect. ken, over to you. >> thank you, heather. the mets are back at home this morning after a rough two days on the road in kansas city. the royals found a way to take care of jacob degrom. the world series shifts to queens. eyewitness news reporter kala rama is live at citi field. good morning, kala. >> reporter: ken, good morning to you. those players got here two hours ago. we saw them pull in in the huge buses then leave in their own cars. they didn't really crack a window to say anything to us but it was 4:00 in the morning. you can see them leaving one by one from citi field here in their own cars to get much needed rest, maybe a home cooked meal, sleep in their own beds.
game 2 was a let down for fans. here is the thing. mets have come back from a 2-0 world series deficit before to win against the red sox. the players know they need to step things up on their home turf. >> you got to pick it up offensively, using the field to hit, and we have done it. we got to do it again. >> they have done things better than we have the first two games. they pitched better. they certainly hit better. they just have the edge on us the first two games. hopefully that will change when we get home field. >> reporter: the players left two hours ago. they are off to get rest. they will be back at 4:00 for a workout. the royals will be here at 2:00 for their workout in preparation for game 3 in any steeld. >> kala, thank you.
mets fans are staying positive even though those who made the trip to kansas city saw what they saw. after all, it's a familiar feeling for those that remember the 1986 world series. nelson is live. good morning, ron. >> reporter: good morning, lori. this is not the position that the team or their fans wanted to be in, a two-game deficit heading back to new york. this is the deal. the amazing mets have to prove they are capable of an amazing comeback. after the epic game one and sweep of the cubs, they thought we would do better than this last night. it was not pretty at all. this was the last thing the mets fans expected, a game 2 it was. the royals prove they do not want this to be a repeat of their loss in the world series francisco.

and many of those homeowners who were frustrated say that they are disappointed with the process or lack of involvement from the city. early on the build it back program was noble in its intentions but lacked serious benefit for those homeowners affected until he overhauled the program. now the mayor is set to announce today that he believes all 9300 active applicants whose single family homes were either destroyed or damaged in superstorm sandy will have their homes fully repaired by the end of 2016. >> took a full overall to build it back. sometimes in government we talk about changing things, reforming things. this was total. it had to be reworked from the beginning to do something to do the work better and faster and make sure that families could be served and get back in their homes. >> now, the city says all of those homeowners who elected to

they left a bunch of bad memories here in kansas city. they lost game one and the blowout last night. take a look at video. ugly game for sure. blue and orange could not find their stride. never mounting a real offense. they only got two hits all night. offense not a problem for the royals whose hitting got hot in the 5th inning. they never looked back on the way to a 7-2 rout against the mets. mets trying to find an answer to k.c.'s hitting and pitching but nothing seemed to work. they hoped to at least steal one game in kansas city to make clinching the series a possibility in new york. no shot of that. it's the royals that can win the title back on our turf.

told us the name of the victim killed, mohammed ab dale baze was pronounced dead. the shooting and about 8:00 last night at west 112th street and a dam clayton powell boulevard. the surviving victim hailed a taxi to get to the hospital. police have no suspects. we are told it may be retaliation for a previous murder. also in harlem, police are searching for the person that shot a church worker in the head. ralph benjamin is recovering after being shot outside the building on west 118th street. it happened tuesday. the gunman was riding a dirt bike at the time. >> it happened so fast. i don't know who they were shooting at or why. >> the police officer with him shared with him, two more

a new york city police officer is in jamaica hospital, the victim of a hit and run driver in glendale queens. the off-duty officer was hit in the crosswalk at cooper avenue and 80th street after 10:00 p.m. last night. he may have been hit by a toyota s.u.v. which then sped up after the accident. doctors say the officer's injuries are not life threatening. an advanced military blimp costing $175 million is on the ground and secure after going on a 150-mile journey. the blimp broke free in maryland. it was flying thousands of feet above the ground bringing with it a long metal tether. that cable brought down power lines and left thousands in the
dark across pennsylvania. >> we lost our power where i live. somebody sent me a fab message that this is what was going on. i had to go out and find it. >> the blimp grounded itself after losing its tail. no word on what caused the unmanned joy ride. the south carolina school safety deputy who was recorded throwing a student has been fired. the deputy's attorney says that the officer's actions were professional, justified and lawful but civil rights groups are praising the local sheriff's swift action. he said the firing decisions based on eyewitness accounts and several recordings of the incident. >> we check the forecast with meteorologist bill evans. a shot of the moon this morning. this is the upper west side coming to you. nice job pete. we are looking at a clear sky

new this morning three people were wounded in a dispute that turned violent inside a shopping mall. all three are in serious condition but they are expected to survive. it was not a random shooting. eyewitnesses say the gunman came in the mall, walked up to a man that he knew and shot him. >> i heard pow, pow, pow. guns went off and screaming like they are scared and trying to get out and everything. >> police are still looking for the gunman. if you need a fuzzy pick me up, uber has you covered. the ride sharing app won't be sending cards to those in -- cars to knows in need. there are kittens to those who need cuddly attention.
