of a deadly fire in the bronx. >> new details in a deadly shooting outside a nightclub. this morning the suspect is tied to another violent crime more than a year ago. >> and putting the final touches on citi field before the mets suit up tonight. game 3 of the world series just hours away. and good morning, i'm lori stokes. >> and i'm ken rosato. it is friday october 30th, and you're never more than 7 minutes away from weather and traffic. meteorologist bill evans with the accuweather forecast. >> seems like things are flowing well this morning. we've got cool, crisp weather, temperatures in the 50s. the temperature this hour starting out 6:00, 51 degrees. it's still dropping ask the winds are out of the west at about 15 to 18 miles an hour. 48 around poughkeepsie and up towards newburgh. 50 bridgeport, 47 islip. all of these have dropped a degree or 2. montauk a warm spot out there. we're looking at 56 by noon. it warms back up to 60 this afternoon. it's a perfect fall day. this is what it should feel like. we'll talk about baseball tonight, halloween tomorrow,

marathon sunday, all that and your accuweather forecast. heather's looking at your commute. >> i will tell you how things looking as you travel through brooklyn on the bqe southwest. look at that delay coming here all the way down into the brooklyn bridge. we have debris spill. i don't know how the debris spill occurred. we're going to keep you posted on that. once you pass the brooklyn bridge you have more delays. construction cleared northbound at the brooklyn bridge, now a debris spill southwest at the brooklyn bridge. we're also taking a look at the bruckner where we still have an accident north. two lanes are closed down as a result. long island railroad doing okay. new jersey transit no major problems. i did get word there's something happening with the r trains. street cleaning rules are in effect. 6:01. developing this morning, we're working to learn the name of the man found dead inside a burning building overnight. his body was found inside the building on weeks avenue in the mount hope section. eyewitness news reporter dray

clark is there live. dray. >> reporter: good morning members of the nypd crime scene unit are inside the apartment where the fire happened. police still have not released the name of the elderly man who lived inside the apartment and later died. the first call for help came just after 8:00 last night here on the 1700 block of weeks avenue. firefighters say when they arrived at the apartment and rushed inside they came up against heavy smoke. they found the elderly victim lying in the middle of the living room floor suffering with several serious burns and also he was in full cardiac arrest. despite efforts he was later pronounced dead at the hospital. firefighters were successful in stopping the fire from spreading throughout the three- story building. >> damage is extensive on the first floor but the first floor only. the fire did not extend to the floors above. it was really confined to the first floor living room where we found the victim.

>> reporter: still a neighbor ho lives next door did suffer smoke inhalation. members of the crime scene unit are still here going throughout that apartment, going through the damage trying to figure out a cause. the fire marshal was also here. he left a short time ago. weaver still waiting to hear the cause and also waiting to learn the name of the victim who died last night. we're live in the bronx this morning, dray clark channel 7 eyewitness news. dray thank you. it's 6:03. new this morning, police say the suspect in a deadly shooting outside a bronx strip club has been caught. nearly 150 miles away. garrett warren was arrested in ask nebraska key. police say he was captured while hiding out in a house. he's charged with the murder of jose feliciano. police have also tied warren to a non-fatal shooting in the bronx last year. . 6:03, the mets are hoping for more treats and fewer

as the world series opens its first ever game at citi field. >> so far this series has brought nothing but bad news. a five-hour marathon tuesday night followed by a royal route in kansas city, and now the mets are down two games to none, and without a win tonight they're really going to be inen trouble. kala rama live at citi field where game 3 will get underway. >> game 3 kicks off at 8:00 tonight. i've been inside citi field. the field is in the best shape possible. it is ready to go. tonight's game will for sure be a nail biter. fans are anxious to see how this is going to go, especially after that 14 inning game 1 and game 2's letdown in kansas city. tonight mayor de blasio will be in the house. get this, de blasio is actually a self-professed boston red sox fan.

this morning. the vote was 64 35. it passed despite the hour-long filibuster by kentucky senator rand paul. the house passed a deal earlier this week. it heads to president obama for final parole and today is house speaker john boehner's last day on capitol hill. he's officially retiring today. the republican says he is proud of his record which includesboro serving the bush era tax cuts and reducing government spending. he also says he's stepping down with no regrets 6:06, vice president joe biden sat down with democratic presidential hopeful bernie sanders for a private meeting. the two talked one on one for an hour at the naval observatory. the meeting was set up after biden announced he will not run for president in 2016. the two discussed campaign finance reform and a free education plan you're never more than 7 minutes away from weather and traffic and meteorologist bill

evans >> we take a look from our camera in astoria looking south. we've got a great morning. camera bouncing around a little bit. a little wind out there, 8 to 18 miles an hour wind out of the west, northwest. cool air pouring in out of canada. it's a brand new air mass, clear air, brand new fall-like conditions. temperatures, exclusive, west, northwest winds back to the great lakes. we're looking at sunshine, 46 to 49 degrees by the time we get to 8:00 noontime temperature's 55, 60 this afternoon. yes, that's going to feel a lot cooler than yesterday's high of 73. but 60 is our normal high temperature for this time of the year. once we get to sunset it starts to cool off tonight. drops down to 52 first pitch temperature tonight 8:00. here's the huckleberry alert this morning. they're all dressed beautifully and warm. >> nice. >> dress your kiddos warmly at the bus stop. it will be around 49 degrees warming to 60. we'll talk about the rest of the weekend, halloween, marathon baseball in your accuweather forecast.

to contain flames burning through a recycling plant in southern california. the fire broke out yesterday in south los angeles. firefighters spent hours battling the fire as smoke poured out of a plant. the los angeles department of water and power was called to the scene because power lines were brought down by the firefight. surveillance images out this morning of two suspectings wanted for an apparent random shooting in harlem. now both suspects are sitting on a single dirt bike. police say they and another man on a different dirt bike approached the victim tuesday afternoon. one shot was fired. the bullet grazed 49-year-old ralph benjamin's head. in connecticut, and we're seeing new video of a shooting that killed a teenager. you can see the 17-year-old boy walking toward the back of a house at madison avenue and frank street in bridgeport connecticut last month. then a few minutes later three suspects are seen running toward him pulling out guns.

times and taken to the hospital where he died. if you have any information about this crime, call bridgeport police. 6:13, mayor de blasio is kicking off his reelection campaign and critics are making their voices heard. cell phone video showing protestors making their way into a midtown fundraiser. they are not the only ones fighting against a second term for mayor de blasio. >> the mayor is a fogressive, he's betrayed his base and so many of the people who voted for him. we want to talk about the policies he's been pushing in hour communities that are no different than what michael bloomberg or rudy giuliani proposed. >> 45% of the voters approve of the mayor's time in office. 46% disapprove. 42% think he does deserve to be reelected. 48% say he does not. time to get a check on the

hanging around for a while. it will slowly diminish as we get into tonight. now it's about 8 to 18-mile an hour winds coming from the northwest. we've got clear skies back to the great lakes. it's going to be a really nice day today and tomorrow, much of sunday. that next system is in the northern plains. that will bring us some clouds on sunday. we're looking at the bus stop kiddos after school, great fall weather. sarah evans has a field hockey game. friday night football, all that kind of stuff, breezy and chilly later on today. 60 degrees as we go into this afternoon, we're looking at 56 for tomorrow, great weather on saturday. great for trick or treating, it's not going to be all that chilly. the wind dies down. you have to put a coat over the costume. what we're going to be looking at is nice weather all three days really for baseball. if we get a third day on sunday, we're looking the really good. to start that three-game series

what's happening with the r trains, track maintenance at 77th street. you can expect delays in both directions. long island railroad, metro north, new jersey transit doing fine. bqe heading southwest getting into the brooklyn bridge. we have a debris spill, heading to citi field use the 7 train or you can use long island railroad from penn decision from woodside or the port washington branch, and we're also checking out what's happening as you head on to 684 and brewster south from exits 9 to 8, an accident, police, fire department all responding to the scene. and then going over here on to route 202 in mahwah still closed down between the new york state line and ramapo avenue. that's a road surface collapse. again, we have all lanes close down and that is in both directions. 10 minutes inbound to the george washington bridge. upper level still a bit slow. the lincoln tunnel is a 10 minute delay. we have alternate side of the street parking rules in effect for today. again, if you are going to citi field tonight, mass transit is

wall street is looking to finish the week in the green with futures pointing to a higher open, the dow jones starts at 17755, and the nasdaq composite and s&p 500 also begin lower. overnight, japan's nikkei added 1%. hong kong's hang seng lost that same amount. macy's will celebrate thanksgiving by opening right at dinner time for the third year in a row stores will open at 6:00 thursday to kick off the black friday deals. several other stores are

heather's looking at your commute. happy friday to you. >> happy friday to you. news copter 7 up above the bronx. we had an accident on the northbound side near the drawbridge. we were told this accident is cleared away. this is why we have news copter 7. you can still see we have some accident activity on the bruckner expressway on to the northbound side. lets go to our maps and talk about our subway status, the r trains track work near 77th street. you can expect delays in both directions. long island railroad, metro north, new jersey transit all doing just fine. this is a pretty big accident for us, 684 going south between exits 9 and 8. this is an accident involving a truck and bicyclist. we understand that the fuel tank ruptured when the truck hit the bicycle. so we have police, fire all heading to the scene. alternate side of the street parking rules are in effect. thank you. and developing right now, in the bronx one man is dead after flames burned through an apartment. that fire broke out just after

floor of the building on weeks avenue. firefighters man unconscious in the living room of the apartment where that fire started. he died at the hospital. another resident in the building is being treated for smoke inhalation, and is this a live look at the scene in mount hope where investigators are searching for the cause of the fire. you're got to believe the mets have not given up their quest for their first world series championship in almost 20 years. >> game 3 will bring the mets and royals to citi field for a game 3, and they're going to need a comeback. >> hopefully there's one man who could save the day. rookie noah syndergaard affectionately known as authority, the mets tweeted he is ready -- as thor, the mets tweeted he is ready to bring the thunder tonight. kala rama is live at citi field. >> reporter: that's what the fans want to see. the world series scene has shifted. it's here at home. the mets will be playing in

game 3 kicks off at 8:07 tonight. rama. let's go mets. if you're heading to the game or wherever you're watching tonight, be sure to share your abc7ny. an investigation underway this morning after the pilot of a jumbo jet spotted a drone while airport. >> it was going roughly towards the west and it was about i would say difficult to tell the size of the thing, but about 300 feet above us and it was black and sort of well it looked like one of those things with the four propellers on each corner. >> british airways flight from london was over floral park in nassau county when the crew spotted the aircraft. they're investigating the sighting which is one of more than three dozen in the air space of jfk over the last year. incredible new video of a

tarmac of fort lauderdale's international airport. the dynamic airwayings flight was just about to take off when an engine caught fire. passengers had to jump down emergency chutes to escape the flames believed to be caused by a fuel leak. 17 people got hurt, one suffering serious burns. >> i heard a loud bang, turned around, saw the lights, saw flames, ran to the front of the aircraft. he opened the door, let the chute out. the chute opened to the sides where the flames were. >> investigators are now trying to pinpoint exactly where that leak originated. happening today in a nation prepares to say good-bye to a hero. a vigil is being held tonight for detective randolph holder in his native of guyana. holder's body arrived at the airport in the south american nation a few hours ago. detective holder's casket was accompanied by a detail from the nypd. he was shot to death ten days

detective holder will be buried tomorrow. mayor de blasio and the city's first lady will get in the halloween spirit as they welcome hundreds of children to their home. gracie mansion halloween party starts tonight at 5:00. it includes face painting and story telling, also magic show as well as some creative costumes from the mayor and shirleen mccray. last year they dressed as characters inspired by greek mythology. >> sounds like a fun time. let's crash the party. >> okay. it's for kids. shooting at a police officer and a state trooper. authorities caught up with him early this morning just north of the tennessee border. shots were fired near the town of burkesville. cook was pronounced dead at the scene. his two associates were arrested yesterday. members of the military are collecting equipment. the equipment and debris left behind in a pennsylvania field after surveillance broke free. police used shotguns at a plate blimp where it grounded itself after a 150-mile journey from a maryland base. electronics on board were removed from the site. the military says will continue to remove that debris today: a water main break at the 2nd avenue subway construction site created literally a geyser on the upper east side. the water was shooting into the air at 84th street and 2nd avenue. several billions along a two- block stretch were without water for hours. a fitting on a replacement water main failed. good morning america is

a shower might come in but that's late sunday night. low 50s around the five boroughs this morning. 40s north and west. these numbers are still a little warmer than normal for this time of the year. we have a west to northwest wind wind. it's going to be cooler tonight and a cool day tomorrow. next system to affect us is in the northern plains of canada. tomorrow just a mixture of sun and clouds. sunday more clouds kind of roll in. we'll be looking at a cloudy day sunday but a dry day. you see we don't get a shot of rain until midnight. if you're finishing the marathon at midnight you're going to get wet. a couple of lows. one around international falls. both slide eastward and give us clouds. as the front comes through it squeezes a front in between. the front goes through almost dry. at the bus stop today kids, after school, very nice. you've got after school sports, football practice, friday night football, all that kind of stuff, sarah evans big field hockey game.

this is a big delay if you're doing the reverse commute coming away from manhattan and traveling eastbound through queens this morning, that's on the l.i.e. absolutely use the grand central as your alternate. >> reverse commuters don't have it easy this morning. let's go to our subway status and talk about what's going on track maintenance at 77th street has been picked up and put away. long island railroad, metro north, new jersey transit all doing just fine. this is a pretty big deal. a truck with a ruptured fuel tank, a 3-mile delay as you head south on 684 getting from exits 9 to 8. your delay starts right about here by route 6. you can expect very heavy activity. fire department activity on the scene. 202 remains closed between the avenue. this a road surface collapse. we have all lanes closed down in both directions, not causing a tremendous amount of delays on route 17 at this point or the new york state thruway. bqe southwest getting into the

we're seeing dramatic new video of a fiery crash on the sawmill river parkway in westchester county. >> a good samaritan pulled the driver out of the car before it burst into flames in yonkers. a passenger was able to get out on her own. firefighters put the fire out, and you can see that car was gutted. the driver is expected to be okay. 6:53, thief with a sweet tooth got into the halloween stash a little early and it landed him behind bars, that after two burglaries in georgia. in one the suspect stole candy. investigators found a trail of candy wrappers leading into the home of a 16-year-old boy. he's now charged with both burglaries. and still ahead this morning, a startling discovery for firefighters. >> a man's body discovered after putting out the flames in

and we're working to get new details in the man found dead in an overnight fire. >> eyewitness news reporter dray clark is live in mount hope with the details. dray. >> reporter: good morning, members of the nypd's crime scene unit are still inside the apartment where the fire happened. we still have not learned the name of the elderly man who lived inside that first floor apartment and died last night. now the first call for help came just after 8:00 here on the 1700 block of weeks avenue in the mount hope section of the bronx. firefighters say when they arrived here, they came up against a lot of smoke. they found the elderly victim

lying in the middle of the floor suffering with serious burns. he also was in full cardiac arrest despite the best efforts to save his life, he was pronounced dead at the hospital. again, members of the crime scene unit have been here at the apartment all night long, again, going over methodically and carefully inside that apartment to look for a cause. the cause right now remains under investigation. we're live this morning in the bronx, dray clark channel 7 eyewitness news. thank you. 6:57 tonight citi field makes its world series debut and so does a pitcher nicknamed thor. >> eyewitness news reporter kala rama is live now in queens. kala. >> reporter: good morning, guys. citi field is all decked out. it is ready to go for game 3 of the fall classic. tonight's game kicks off at 8:00 here at citi field. noah syndergaard has the job of starting the mets on their climb out of an 0-2 hole. here's a tough coincidence, new yorker billy joel will sing the national anthem at game 3 tonight, but the past two times he sung before a game the mets have lost.
