talk about. heather has your commute right now. how is it going? well, that weekend track work is about cleared away on our seven trains. so that is wrapping up for us. transit is doing just fine. no major problems there. you do have routes 1 and 9 southbound, route 440, there was an earlier accidentman, and we have a downed traffic light on the southbound side being repaired. alternate side of the street parking routes in effect today. >> thank you. a developing story in brooklyn, a man is on the run after three suspects tried to rob him at gunpoint. stuy. police shot one of the men and the other is in custody. we are live on the scene with the latest. >> reporter: good morning. the crime scene unit wrapped up their work on-the-scene. overnight, police arrested a 16-

looking for another suspect who was also a teenager. now, this is surveillance video showing that 20-year-old suspect who was shot being taken to an ambulance, bed-stuy neighborhood investigating a scam involving craigslist. the detectives in plain clothes left the apartment building, three suspects approached one of the detectives showing a gun. that detective then drew his hitting him. detectives also did recover the suspect's weapon. >> the guns found right at the scene where the perpetrator dropped it, right next to the detective's weapon. it appears to be a semiautomatic firearm. we don't know if it is real or fake. >> reporter: and they have since determined that gun the suspect was carrying was actually a b.b. gun or an air gun.

police are looking for the last september. dray clark, abc 7 eyewitness news. >> thank you. the tragedy on long island. a9-year-old girl is dead this morning after a pit bull suddenly attacked her playing with her friend. abc 7 eyewitness news' is live now where the owner of the dog is being held. >> reporter: right. well, the dog's owner is here, it is unclear if he will be facing charges in this case. take a look, we were there as the dog's owner, arnold was arrested at the scene on unrelated charge for violation of an order of protection. at this point, it is unclear if he was even at home when the 9- year-old was mauled to death. police are saying three young girls were playing in the backyard of the home on sunday morning. witnesses are saying the dog latched into the girl's head and neck and would not let go until officers arrived.

the officer and the 9-year-old girl died at the hospital a few hours later. >> i was just -- i wish i could turn the time back. i really do. she was too sweet to go. >> it is a -- huge problem. it. >> reporter: we're also waiting for an explanation on what happened leading up to the attack. why the dog turned so violent and attacked that girl. of course, abc 7 eyewitness news. police are hoping that surveillance video will led to the arrest of a man who robbed a business in the bronx using a machete. he walked behind the cabinet on nobody was hurt. investigator of the deadly russian plane crash is saying

the crash. what the click is remains under investigation. but this point u.s. officials are staying all signs are pointing to a bomb. investigators are searching evidence of an explosion. all 224 people died when the jet went down after on route from a particular egyptian resort to moscow. a big fire damaged several homes in queens. investigators are calling it suspicious. it started at a house under construction in forest hills at 7:30 last night. and the fire spread to houses on each side. one was about up a pied -- unoccupied. >> my house was here, luckily the wind blew the other way. >> well, fire chief caused it suspicious because it was so large.

14 other people including six children were hurt. eight victims are critical condition this morning. investigators believe the truck initially rear end a car and then crossed into ongoing traffic. the truck burst into flames after hitting the van. 4:49. police in michigan are saying a school shopping plot discovered on instagram, three teens were planning to attack a high school and middle school. aschool resource officer got information about the plot, they did not give details. an 18-year-old former student and two 15 years old are facing charges. a railcar leaking hundreds of gallons of crude-oil is sealed off following a train derailment in wisconsin. it ran off the tracks 40 miles

the amount of oil leaked is not confirmed. canadian pacific is saying it is less than $1,000 gallons. the breakthrough treatment of a baby girl in the u.k. could be a ray of hope. 1-year-old laesa richards spent most of her life battling leukemia. they refused to give up the fight. and doctors tried a first experimental treatment. she was injected with cells genetically manufactured. >> i'm going, i'm going to get the result that i need. so-- we just pushed on, pushed on. >> and it is a good thing they did. two months after starting the treatment, her leukemia appears, to get this, to be gone. doctors are saying it is

4:54. acity-owned building in the heart of manhattan is set to become a park. the building and parking lot on west 20th street will be transformed. parks and elected officials made the announcement on sunday. the parks department will start getting community input on the new park next year. there are concerns that a brand new type of peanut butter could pose a health threat for kids. it is called "steam" it was

good morning. developing at 5 to mean a.m., and police have fired on three people who tried to rob them. one suspect is still on the run. we're live updating the investigation. >> a community in manhattan after a beloved neighbor was hit and killed by a cab driver. the charges he is facing this morning. the return the jacket weather. as the temperatures ease back into what we're supposed to see this time of the year.

clark is live. >> reporter: good morning. that shooting happened behind me on monroe street. these guys chose the wrong guy to rob. the detective wasted no time pulling out his weapon and striking one of the suspects. >> he did produce a firearm and point it at a detective. the detective -- fired once. >> reporter: police are saying it is over in moments. the 20-year-old who pointed the gun at the detective wounded. a16-year-old with him arrested. and another suspect, 16 to 18 years old now on the run. and the detectives bullet hit the man in the right harm and torse -- arm and torso. >> i just heard a gunshot and like 30 seconds after it, the cop was here. >> reporter: cell phone video caught the moment after the gunshot. the suspect screamed about his wounds.

nearby store then shows the wounded suspect being rolled to an ambulance. he is now in the hospital expected to be fine. police found this gun on the sidewalk next to the detective who opened fire. >> it appears to be a semiautomatic firearm, but we don't know if it is a real or a fake gun. >> reporter: and in fact the gun turned out to be nothing more than a b.b. gun. the three detectives were initially here in the neighborhood investigating an apartment scam involving cranings list and they encounter the three suspects. one of the suspects on the run this morning. reporting live, dray clark, abc 7 eyewitness news. >> thank you. 5:04 now, and community members in manhattan coming together to mourn the death of an 88-year-old woman hit and killed by a taxi. the taxi driver was behind the wheel longer than allowed by city law. a memorial is standing outside of her building.

and hit by the driver of the yellow cab yesterday morning. she was a beloved member of the community. >> to me she meant a lot. every time she saw me, she was telling me good things. she wanted me to do better for myself. >> the driver accused of hitting her stied -- stayed on- the-scene. the third pedestrian killed in new york over the weekend. the 11th in the past week. 5:05. acity bus driver is due in court to answer charges in a deadly hit-and-run. paul roper could be indicted today, driving a b15 bus that hit 70-year-old carol bell on tuesday morning. the horrific scene was on video. roper is being held on bond. ben carson supports giving

5:12. welcome back. along island man is behind bars accused of posing as a cab driver and trying to attack a woman. the 22-year-old pretended to be a car service driver and offered a woman a ride early saturday morning. when the woman was inside of the car, he allegedly threatened here with a b.b. gun and sexual assaulted her. engineers and contractors will be on the site today of a giant sinkhole that swallowed a dozen cars in mississippi.

parging lot of an ihop restaurant on saturday night. and 12 cars fell into the 300- foot long gap, but there were no injuries. because many of the car owners were eating inside of the restaurant. crews are trying to stabilize that area. >> a. 5:13. the privilege of emceeing the five k run and walk happening yesterday in new jersey. there were nearly a thousand people turned out. enormous. and they raised -- look at the sea of people. they raised nearly $150,000 to help fight the disease. i want to thank everybody for being there. including abc 7 eyewitness news' shannon and right there danny. that poor guy lost his wife to cancer two months ago. he told a touching story. they brought up cancer survivors and it touched our hearts.

being rushed to an ambulance. detectives were in the bed-stuy neighborhood on sunday evening investigating a robbery related to an apartment scam involving craigslist. the detectives were leaving an apartment building, three suspects approached the detective holding a gun. the detective got out his weapon and shot the suspect. and the detectives recovered the suspect's gun. >> the guns found at the scene where the perpetrator dropped it. it appears to be a semiautomatic firearm. we don't know if it is -- real or fake. >> reporter: they have determined the weapon the 20- year-old was carrying was actually nothing more than a bg gun. but it certainly looked like the real deal. you can see in the picture. the search continues for the third suspect. reporting live, dray clark, abc 7 eyewitness news. >> dray, thank you. 5:32.

morning what caused a pit bull long island. the owner of the dog was arrested on the scene on a separate charge. kemberly richardson is live right now. >> reporter: well, good morning. that dog's owner remains here on unrelated charges. it is still unclear if he could be facing charges in this case where his dog mauled a little girl. take a look here, we were there as the pit bull's owner, arnold was arrested on-the-scene on an violation of order of protection. it is in clear if he was at was mauled to death. police are saying three girls were playing in the backyard of the home on sunday morning and witnesses are saying the dog latched to the girl's head and neck and wouldn't let go. until the officers arrived the dog was shot and killed by one of the officers.
