>> "gma" coming up, everybody. we have new video at 4:30 of the man accused of stabbing the mother of his child and then kidnapping their daughter. we are live with an update on the woman's condition. new details on a police- involved shooting in a brooklyn park. police have revealed overnight why they had to open fire. a very foggy morning commute with on and off again rain all day. when you can expect to see the big yellow thing in the sky again. what's that called? oh, the sun. good morning.
>> nice to have you here again. and never more than seven minutes away from weather and traffic. >> yeah, it's really mild for december 2nd. that's why we have the fog. that's why we're showing you the intersection of 66th and columbus avenue. all of the cameras on roof tops and things are like this, in the fog this morning. really warm, 46 degrees and rain to go with it. plains. these numbers are way warm. 52 on the shore. showers this morning. we've got some fog. big batch of rain to the west. so we have rain off and on all day long again today. notice how mild it is, 57 degrees. we will talk about what it's going to be like for tomorrow and the weekend in the accuweather seven-day forecast. heather is ready to go. no, no, we're okay. good now. over to the subways and talk
all of the subways are on or close to schedule. no major problems there. and now metro north, long island railroad, new jersey transit on or close the schedule. and on the l.i.e. eastbound right at 39, overturned vehicle quickly up righted and cleared away. that's good news for us. alternate side of the street parking rules are in effect city-wide. and guess what, it's another gridlock alert day. ken, over to you. >> thank you. a bronx father is in custody this morning accused of stabbing the mother of his child repeatedly and kidnapping their little girl. the woman is recovering this morning. >> reporter: good morning, ken. the victim is here at the hospital. more on her condition in a moment. but first, overnight we were able to get our first look at the man accused of going on the violent rampage and then kidnapping his own daughter.
he is accused of stabbing the mother of his child and then abducting their daughter. neighbors say the family had always been friendly and quiet. >> they go to church every week. see them going to church. he works for the transit system. so it looks like they're a really upstanding sits. >> reporter: the vicious crime set off an amber alert for the 3-year-old. and while police dealt with the bloodshed at the apartment, callers spotted the van on the george washington bridge, heading into new jersey. state police made a high-risk stop, getting van to the side of the parkway. >> we did stop the traffic before the incident was supposed to happen just in case it went wrong but thank god it didn't go wrong. it was a high-risk stop. willingly. >> reporter: she is fine. social services workers picked her up last night to bring her
bronx. and her mother is in critical but stable condition here at st. bar bus and she is -- st. barnabas and she is expected to survive. a police-involved shooting that happened in brooklyn. we learned that officers opened fire on two people after someone fired at them. it happened in east flat bush late last night. we are live on the scene with an update. >> reporter: you can still see a police presence because officers have been scouring railroad park here looking for a second suspect and possibly a weapon. here's what happened. late last night, you can see narcotics officers were patrolling the area and responded to shots being fired. okay. the officers then responded with gunfire, shooting four times but don't believe anyone was hit at the time. police arrested a 24-year-old man at the scene but they are still looking for a man that
this neighborhood full of two- family homes was swarming with police after the incident. as cops were knocking on and searching backyards for a suspect and a weapon. that second suspect was believed to run into a home here not far. however, police scouring the area did not find anyone. this continues to be the case this morning. at this point, police don't believe anyone was actually hit by gunfire. both officers were treated at a nearby hospital but just as protocol when a shooting incident like this happens. channel 7 eyewitness news. >> thank you. 4:35. an update on the shooting death of a bronx mother. overnight, police identified the ex-boyfriend wanted for her murder. tyrone lowe reportedly fled the scene. investigators say he had been inside the home when she was shot in the head. her young son was also there but he did not witness the killing. in new jersey, two people
car slammed into a school bus. the volkswagon crashed into the bus carrying a high school swim team. an eyewitness says they were trying to pass another vehicle in a no passing zone. two men in the volkswagon were killed in the crash. two students suffered non-life threatening injuries. the 16-year-old boy who led police on a chase that ended in a deadly crash last week has died. police say he died of his injuries from the crash in yonkers. during the police pursuit, the stolen van crashed into another car killing an innocent driver, a 46-year-old. a 14-year-old girl who was a passenger the stolen van was critically hurt. questions are swirling around the possible mishandling of the deadly police shooting of a black teenager in chicago. the top cop, a veteran of the newark and new york police departments has been fired. photos from inside of a burger king obtained by abc news show
after the shooting last year. and now there are claims that officers deleted some of the video. he was fired as police chief yesterday. one week after dash cam video of the police shooting was made public. >> police officers are only as effective as if they are trusted by all of chicago. whoever they are and where ever they live many the city. by reinveigh rating our overtithe -- reinvigorating our oversight, we will continue to build trust between the police and the residents and communities they serve. >> the state attorney general is asking the u.s. department of justice to investigate chicago's police department. the officer who shot the teen faces murder charges. 4:37. spike lee took the over broadway to spotlight gun violence. the brooklyn-born film maker led more than a hundred people to times square last night marchers included reverend al
the new film which looks at chicago's gang violence. lee predicted more firings in the wake of laquan mcdonald's case. marchers wore orange hats because that's what hunters wear to avoid being shot. happening today, the jury is expected to be seated in the first trial connected to the death of freddie gray. 150 perspective jurors will be reduced to a panel of 12 and a group of alternates in the case against the baltimore police officer william porter. it's possible opening arguments may also take place. he faces involuntary manslaughter and other charges. gray died in april, one week after suffering a severe spinal van. you're never more than seven minutes away from weather and traffic. bill evans with the exclusive accuweather forecast. >> we're going to look up columbusa. it's one of the few view -- columbus avenue, it's one of the few views we have this morning.
it will slow things down on roadways and bridges. and area airports as well. so first off, rain gear once again today. and here we go, look at radar and you will see satellite and radar picture. the wind still out of the east, rain up the hudson river valley, the the five boroughs and headed toward connecticut and long island. the west. that comes in today through the afternoon and then the comes in. chicago. that front is going to come into the area. and gets us to us tonight and makes it much cooler and windy. for tomorrow, looking at off and on rain through the day today. and into the 50-degree mark really quick. 57 this afternoon. very mild this time of the year. we will talk about a mild weekend coming up with sunshine in the accuweather seven-day forecast. how's it going out there? well, i want to show you a picture of the harlem river drive.
you can see at least one lane is closed down. cones on the right side of the screen. and let's head to the map and talk about the fdr drive northbound from the 70s up to the 90s. that's where you will find construction. subway status. subway service on or close to schedule. metro north, long island railroad, new jersey transit on or close to schedule. the construction at the george washington bridge, the lincoln the holland. and now at the george washington bridge inbound on the upper-level, underneath the apartment, that's where the construction is. two the lanes are closed down. that will last until about 5:00 a.m. and then over here to and from the holland tunnel, the covered roadway is closed in both directions until 5:00 a.m. and we're also taking a look at the outer bridge crossing. at this point, it's the only bridge that i'm getting reports about, 25 miles per hour speed limits because of the weather. and not a bad idea to get in

we're looking at 46 degrees. the humidity is high. the winds are east at 5 miles per hour. and pressure has been falling. a lot of fog here. this is the the camera in brooklyn looking for the east side. but it's shrouded in the fog and hiding away. yesterday's high was 51, above normal. and since midnight, .23 of rain. storm total is around 33 so far. more today and likely we don't see much of a sunrise or sunset. so a slow morning commute with this rain and fog. midday, afternoon. evening. and looking at rainfall totals around another inch today. 52 when you look at long branch and toms river. these numbers are way mild. 39 around monticello. so today, calm winds but mostly an east wind. hour. but the wind will come around
eventually wet and eventually northwest tomorrow. so down through the hudson river valley, rockland, westchester county, a little batch of rain. and another batch of rain the get here around 10:00 this morning and then the afternoon. and then the cold front will come in this evening and tonight. and that will put snow upstate. you will see on the futurecast, here's the rain by 10:00, that big batch coming. and that lasts until 4:00. and then you see 8:00, 9:00, still showers around, up to the north, there will be snow showers with the cold air that's coming in. and that will be up toward albany. and tomorrow, sunshine. it will be a very windy the day tomorrow. periods of rain today, 57, very mild. and the low and the cold front all push through. and we will have sunshine returning tomorrow. we get this blustery blend of sun and cloud, a chilly day tomorrow. and it will feel like 40. cloudy and mild and occasional rain today.

cleveland last year, they say that he continued to yell show me your hand, show me hands before firing the the fatal shot. he gave a signed statement to prosecutors on tuesday. he said that rice didn't obey commands and that the officer saw the boy reaching to pull a weapon out of the waistband. it turned out rice was carrying a pellet gun. a grand jury will decide whether he or the other officer involved should face criminal charges. police in alaska say it will take several days before an autopsy shows cause of death for the new mayor of juneau. he was found in his home by his adult son. reports that he was the victim of an assault are speculation there. are reports however that he showed signs of injury. he was sworn into office six weeks ago. the accused killer will be back in court this afternoon pushing to have charges missed.
the trial is set for late february to give a new prosecutor time to prepare. the first trial ended with a deadlock jury voting 11-1 to convict. a little boy in albany is being hailed a hero after saving his family and a neighbor from a fire but don't tell him that. the 7-year-old didn't like all the attention he's been getting. he woke up his parents when he smelled smoke last month allowing everyone to get out before the apartment building was engulfed in flames. and city leaders held a ceremony to honor in front of his fellow students. >> i'm going to continue to embed in him that he is a hero and embrace the fact that he is somebody. >> the mayor of albany declared november 30th as avery moses day. and the city announced a firefighter injured fighting the fire was healthy and back

great. very mild for the first week of december. and a look at the commute. speed restrictions out there. >> yeah, a speed restrictions at a couple bridges but no speed restrictions as far as mass traps it is goes. that's the way you want -- mass transit. subway service, that is also running on or close. and we have the speed restrictions, outer bridge crossings, 25 miles per hour. and the george washington, 35 miles per hour. and the street cleaning rules are in effect for today. ken, over to you. >> thank you very much. we have breaking news. a firer to through a row of homes on staten island last night has just reignited the. the fire first broke out around 9:15 at night. flames quickly spread to the two adjoining homes. four firefighters got hurt last night. crews are now back on the scene this morning battling what is now a two-alarm fire.
it out okay but a pet cat did die in the process of the fire. the american red cross helping two the displaced families. >> this is traumatic. it's a loss. and then when there's, you know, you think of -- i thank god there were no losses in regard to the fatalities but the reality is, it's devastating. >> investigators are looking into the cause of the fire. we are now headed to the scene and we will get a live report in the next half hour. 5:03 right now. a mother is in critical condition after she was stabbed by the father of her child. the man is behind bars. we are live with new video outside of st. barnabas hospital where the mother is being streeted. good morning. >> reporter: good morning. the victim is in critical but stable condition barnabas hospital and expected to survive. overnight, we got our first look at the man accused of
police say he stabbed the the mother of his child repetitionedly and then kidnapped their daughter. police issued an amber alert a short time later to help find the 3-year-old little girl. a police officer spotted him driving with the little girl in his van going over the george washington bridge. and he was eventually arrested in new jersey on the garden state parkway and she was not harmed. >> thank god for mcdonald's. i got her mcdonald'sment she's sitting in the office and she's fine. she's watching cartoons and eating and couldn't be happier. who knows what she may or may not have seen but that's for new york to investigate. >> reporter: and late last night, social service workers did pick her up. she is now staying with family members in bronx. the mother continues her recovery here at st. barnabas hospital.
police are searching for three suspects in a possible bias attack. the victim was beaten, robbed and possibly sexually assaulted by three men. police say the suspects chased the 23-year-old victim for blocks, struck him over the head with pipe and attacked him. a local councilman says he worries about the safety of the lgbt community in his area. >> although jackson heights and a good community, unfortunately we've had a number of attacks against lgbt people here in the past. >> a transgender woman was beat lightning the same neighborhood on sunday. police say they are no longer investigating that attack as a hate crime but as a domestic assault. the 35-year-old victim is in critical condition. now extra security will be onhand when the rockefeller christmas tree lights up midtown manhattan later today. it begins at 7:00 this evening. crowds will notice many more

homeland, acting to defeat isil in his core from n syria and iraq. >> reporter: carter announced the u.s. is establishing a special operation force based in iraq and conduct raids, gather intelligence, free hostages and aim to capture isis leaders. even before the attacks on paris, carter had planned for a broader role for u.s. special ops forces after a raid in iraq in late october. u.s. forces helped free 70 isis hostages and one american was killed. the master sergeant joshua wheeler at a discussion, carter disputed republican calls for boots on the ground. >> a lot of people don't think we're putting boots on the ground and we're doing a lot from the air but there are boots on the ground. >> reporter: and with nearly 200 countries coming together to talk climate change in paris, president barack obama used the opportunity to drum up international support. >> i am confident that we can continue building momentum and

the search is on for the driver who abandoned a car after crashing it into a store in staten island. the car crashed into the building just after 7:00 last night. the driver the ran off after the crash. apartments above the store had to be evacuated for several hours. one eyewitness who was home at the time described the the crash. >> all i hear is like a boom, the whole floor shaked. and then like the car crashing. and i just looked out the twin doe and i told my mom she's okay and my brother, they all got scared. >> sure. and it's not clear if the driver was injured at the time. people who live above the store

through three homes on staten island and hurt several firefighters has reignited this morning. we have just arrived at the good morning. >> reporter: ken, i can tell emergency response vehicles responding to what is now the now on fire again. let me show you what's going on deli. firefighters just climbed up there to check how that's doing. the three buildings next to it, a vacant home and two homes that were occupied are now burning once again. this is being called a two- alarm fire. you can see smoke billowing from blocks away here. and we are told the people -- this fire actually started in the vacant home and then the flames spread to the two homes next door. and they were occupied by two families who made it out safely last night. and they are now with the red cross. but now somehow their homes
we're told a cat died in the fire last night. and one again, four firefighters were also hurt last night. and looking into the cause of the initial fire and then again what made it flair up now. again, there are a lot of firefighters onscene, a lot of emergency responders making sure that this fire does not spread to anymore buildings than it already has but again, the same three buildings from last night are burning once again. there is still no cause but the good news here, there were no people inside any of the buildings. live in staten island, channel 7 eyewitness news. >> all right. thank you so much. 5:33 is the time. a developing story in brooklyn. the search continues for a man and a gun after a wild shootout with police. officers swarmed the area around the railroad playground last night. two narcotics officers responded to a report of gunfire in the park when someone fired at them. police returned fire.
a 24-year-old man was taken into custody and another man said to be wearing a red bubble jacket ran into a nearby home. he is still on the loose. we have new video of the man accused of stabbing the mother of his child and then taking off with their young daughter. we are live outside of st. barnabas hospital where the mother is being treated. >> reporter: good morning. despite being stabbed multiple time, the rick is expected to survive -- the victim is expected to survive her injuries. meanwhile, we are getting our first look overnight at the man accused of going on the violent stabbing rampage and then kidnapping his own daughter. he now faces a long legal process in new jersey and bronx. accused of stabbing the mother of his child and then abducting their daughter. neighbors say the family had always been quiet and friendly. >> they seem like great parents. they go to church every week.
so it looks like they are a really upstanding citizens. >> reporter: the vicious crime set off an amber alert for the 3-year-old. and while police dealt with the bloodshed at the family's apartment in bedford park, callers spotted the van on the george washington bridge, heading into new jersey. state police made a high-risk stop, getting van to the side of the garden state parkway. >> we did stop the traffic before the incident was supposed to happen, just in case it went wrong but thank god it didn't go wrong. everything went smooth. it was a high-risk stop. and just thank god that he went willingly, he didn't put up a fight. >> reporter: she is fine. social service workers picked her her up last night to bring her back to family members in bronx. and her mother meanwhile is in critical but stable condition homer at st. barnabas hospital and she is expected to make a full recovery.
have a motive for the stabbing that happened yesterday. >> thank you. we have an update on the shooting death of a bronx mother. police have identified the ex- boyfriend wanted for the murder. tyrone lowe reportedly fled the scene in a gray 2006 honda mini van. investigators say he had been inside the home of the victim when she was shot in the head. her young son was also there but he did not witness her murder. the new york plate number for lows van is ext3422. it is 5:36. in new jersey, two people are dead, nine people injured after a car slammed into a school bus. the volkswagon crashed into the bus carrying a high school swim team in south hampton township. an eyewitness says the car was trying to pass another vehicle in a no-passing zone. eight students and one adult on

welcome back. the accused killer will be back in court this afternoon, pushing to have the charges dismissed. he is facing a retrial for the 1979 kidnap and murder. the trial is set for late february to give a new prosecutor time to prepare. the first trial ended with a deadlocked jury voting 11-1 to convict. right now, new details this morning about the dramatic rescue of an oklahoma mother. she was trapped with her three young children as flood waters rose over the roof of their suv. >> we need help. i've got my kids. >> the water was so high and i kept telling them, keep your head up. >> right then, a rear window opened by itself and the family

a police officer is recovering from some bumps and bruises after a frightening fall. the officer fell off a roof. it was caught on his body cam. police say they were called because the suspect was loitering. he charged at the officers. one of the officers lost his balance and fell off the roof about 10 feet to below. the suspect did get arrested. chicago's top cop, a net van of the newark and new york police departments has been fired amid growing questions about the deadly police shooting of a black teenager. photos from inside a burger king the officer looking at video after the shooting last year. and now there are claims that officers deleted some of the video. dash cam video of the police
