after a very long search that included temporarily shutting down part of the subway. he was initially arrested for stealing jeans and a jacket at a gap store in the financial district. he was handcuffed behind his back, and placed in a patrol car. during the ride back to the first precinct in tribeca, he somehow slipped off his handcuffs and told the officers he was sick. when they pulled the car over to him help, they say toon kicked the door open and ran toward the franklin street subway where he disappeared into a tunnel. the mta shut down the subway for nearly two hours on the 2 and 3 lines while police searched. around 1:30 this morning they found him at group home in sunset park brooklyn. those two arresting officers who lost track of toon have now been suspensioned. >> they have had their guns and badges removed, and they are totally off the streets. they will go back for a

they will be transferred from their commands, needless to say this will impact on their future careers in the department dramatically. >> reporter: and we've been told their suspension will last at least 30 days. this by the way is the sixth time since june that a suspect has somehow escaped nypd custody. the chief of the department says this is not a training issue but rather a matter of officers simply paying attention. we're live, dray clark channel 7 eyewitness news. thank you. we're following a developing story in new jersey. police in newark are investigating a string of gas station robberies. armed suspects reportedly held up the speedway gas station on park avenue and the exon on mccarter highway early this morning. no injuries were reported. it is unclear exactly how many other places were robbed. we are working this story. we will bring you new information as soon as it becomes available.

dropping, and it's looking like our last weekend of fall will start out blustery. meteorologist bill evans with a look at the accuweather forecast. >> it is getting chilly, and the temperature keeps dropping every hour. here's a look across the park. we have cloudy skies and our temperature is 46. we started at 56 and the temperature has been steadily dropping every hour. now we're at 45 at riverdale. 45 around whitestone queens. normal average afternoon high this time of year, the seasonal average is 42. the wind gusts are cranking out of the west and northwest. you'll see from 22 miles per hour to 24 around newark and about 18 to 21 is kind of common now. newburgh and poughkeepsie 29 miles an hour wind gusts. a couple of sprinkles and some clouds and colder air is trying. high pressure pushing in from the west here, and that will build in this afternoon, make it rather windy. as we go through the afternoon into the evening, you can see the temperature after sunset drops into the low 40s and 30s

tomorrow morning we start out at the freezing mark and below for the first time in a while. tomorrow afternoon we're only looking at temperatures around 41 to 40 degrees. that's normal for this time of the year. we start sunday with temperatures once the wind dies i believe there's upper 20s and right around the freezing mark for sunday mornings. it's going to be a cold weekend. the windchill will be around 30, 27, 30, 31, that's tomorrow at noon. going to be the coldst day of the fall the last weekend of fall. we winter next week. we could have record high temperatures by christmas eve and christmas day. shirleen, david back to you. see you soon. thank you. police have charged the driver of a porsche that crashed into a school bus in queens killing his passenger with dwi. the bus was empty and parked outside ps22 in flushing when the porsche crashed into it. the porsche's female passenger was killed.

sung of long island suffered non-life-threatening injuries. students had to enter the school through side doors as authorities cleared the wreckage from out front. the nypd now investigating two slashings in different boroughs. both of them appear to be random and unrelated. the most recent incident happened in brooklyn. police say a 38-year-old man and his attacker both got off the a train. when the victim walked off the stairs he felt something brush his neck. it was a blade. his wound was within an inch of killed him. this occurred hours after a teenage girl was slashed twice across the face in queens. she survived and so far no arrests have been made. new at noon, new york lawmakers and 11th first responders are applauding congress for extending the zadroga act. the measure was included in the year end tax and spending bill. it will provide money for the through 2021.

where according to prosecutors marquez freely revealed he and syed farook planned terrorist attacks together dating back four years. authorities say the earlier plots involved an attack on students in the cafeteria of this riverside community college where farook and marquez attended classes. >> it just makes you feel unsafe, the fact that that could just happen is really unsettling. >> another plan targeting drivers on this california freeway during rush hour. according to the federal complaint, farook persuaded marquez to convert to islam eight years ago and really calized him use -- radicalized him using online videos from al- qaeda. before the terror attack that killed 14 marquez wrote on facebook my life turned ridiculous, involved this terrorist properties, antisocial behavior, marriage, might go to prison for fraud et cetera. friends say marquez warned about what he would call a

police in brooklyn are searching for a man who violently attacked a woman on board an a train. police released surveillance videos of a man they're looking for. it happened in brooklyn heights. he punched the woman on her head and took off. the 29-year-old woman was not seriously hurt. new at noon, new york city officials calling it a form of gender discrimination. a new study finds women are charged more than men for

actor martin sheen recovering from quadruple bypass surgery. sheen's son emelioest viz tweeted this picture of his father describing his father's proactive procedure. the star is out of intensive care and is expected to be home by christmas. some of you may remember sheen had a heart attack on the set in 1979 during the filming of apocalypse now. schools are closed today amid controversy over an assignment involving islam. one high school had students practice calligraphy. assignment religious indoctrination. >> shock that it was sent home, shock that that was in the school, shock that this was small town. >> school officials say the lesson's aim was to show the

normal high this time of the year is about 42. the humidity is dry. the winds are northwest at 7, and the pressure has been falling, but you see it's right at 29.74. that's an unstable atmosphere where it remains rather cloudy and windy also. yesterday, look at the rainfall we've had, an inch and a quarter yesterday. it's likely by 4:30 we do see some sunny breaks. clouds are going to be hanging tough. we'll get sunny breaks late. it's colder coming in tonight and tomorrow. tomorrow morning it's going to feel like the 20s with the wind. cold blast is brief. it's really just saturday. next week we're back to record warmth most likely on christmas eve. 46 around hanover, around montclair it's 45. up the hudson river valley, 46. these numbers are warmer than our normal average afternoon seasonal highs by a couple of degrees. we've been in the 60s. today it's sort of like cooler on the heels of this west to a northwest wind. that's, you know, pushing this way while showers are running

there's been some sprinkles, the clouds have been hanging tough, and so are the sprinkles. now eventually this high pressure ridge keeps pushing eastward and some sunny breaks are coming up now in eastern pennsylvania. that will happen late in the day. temperatures are going to just keep dropping as we go through you'll notice tomorrow morning we're into the 30s with the the 20s. afternoon. low 35. tomorrow we're looking at a blustery colder day, feels like the 30s with wind gusts of 35 miles an hour. your accuweather seven-day forecast, a few flakes here on saturday north and west. poconos, catskills, that sort of thing, and we'll be seeing those 30s warming up. it will feel like the 30s saturday but we warm up sunday. look at next week. wednesday and thursday especially, christmas eve we could set a record high at 67 degrees on christmas eve. eve. it's going to ruin all of weren't, the christmas songs, you know, here's what we do.

an officer throwing punches and a sky diver who decides to skype. some of the stories caught on attention. we begin with an officer under fire, students took this cell phone video showing a school resources officer breaking up a fight in a school in nebraska. watch as the officer appears to punch a teen multiple times before subduing him. the millard issued a statement hurt. the omaha police department has reassigned the officer while it investigates. ugly scene there. game and fish officers responded to calls about a deer

the license plate guy because games. law. investigators accused him of loan sharking. eyewitness news reporter marcus solis in yonkers with the story that's new at noon. >> reporter: dave, shirleen he's been a fixture at giant's games for over a decade. joe ruback invoice collecting license plates. but if convicted he could making them. >> there is no question joe is a huge giants fan. he's known as the license plate guy. but the rocklin county district attorney has put a didn't photo and has a different -- different photo and has a different name for the 40-year- old, loan shark. he was accused of grand larceny saying the defendant used threats and intimidation and charged usurious interest rates.

walking with three other officers in queens in 2014 when he was struck in the head. a second officer joseph meeker was slashed on the arm. the man who attacked them was fatally shot by officers. healy is on desk duty at the 103rd precinct in jamaica while he recovers. aaa predicting more than 100 million people will hit the road this holiday period setting a new record. the motor club estimates 91 million people will hit that road between december 23rd to january 3rd. 5.7million others will choose to fly while another 3.4 million will take a train, bus, or other form of transportation to their destination. some state lawmakers are pushing to remove trump's name from a park in westchester county. trump donated the land for the undeveloped state park in york town back in 2006. the lawmaker is upset about

they plan to remove the trump sign bearing his name from the 440-acre site. turning now to vote 2016, news that bernie sanders has fired one of his top staffers over a data breach. the staffer improperly accessed hillary clinton's campaign files. abc's bazi kanani is live in washington d. c. with more. >> reporter: good afternoon, the dnc says the data breach happened wednesday morning, and it is still investigating. the matter could deal a major blow to the sanders campaign. >> the bernie sanders campaign responding swiftly firing a campaign operative accused of a data breach peeking past a temporarily failed firewall in a democratic national server to look at rival hillary clinton's confidential voter database. a sanders spokesman says that behavior is unacceptable, and that staffer was immediately

campaign. already the dnc has temporarily suspended the campaign's access to the party's crucial voter file while it investigates. the issue, a possible distraction just one day before sanders, clinton and martin third debate. >> bernie sanders' campaign could be looking at the internal play week, the raw data the hillary clinton campaign is using. >> the sanders campaign is blaming the software vendor for the glitch that caused the firewall to fail and that staffer who was fired, josh uretzky tells abc news he was not prying for clinton's info. a man accused of killing a new jersey mother inside her today. 36-year-old robert grillo was supposed to be arraigned on one murder charge this morning, but grillo did not appear before a judge in elizabeth. it is not clear why he refused. he's accused of strangling 35- year-old yolanda vega inside her rahway home december 7th. a bankrupt rapper lowering his price for his mansion in connecticut again. the new listing in farmington and shown on a realtor's website is 8 1/2 million dollars. that's $10 million less than 50- cent first listed the home for. he bought the mansion for just over $2 million but invested renovations. a number of attacks on bus drivers shows just how

officials in houston texas are kicking off a new safety campaign by releasing this video which shows a driver being violently attacked by a customer who was asked to lower his voice. other videos show drivers being cursed out and spit at. houston officials say police patrols have been stepped up. a new orleans moving to break with its confederate past. the city council voted to remove four confederate monuments. after months of meetings and discussions, city council members declared the four monuments were a nuisance. the statues dedicated to such confederate leaders like robert e. lee and jefferson davis. there's a similar move underway in lafayette to remove another shoe. one of the hottest deals of the holidays is going on today. according to apple tracking website 9 to 5 mac, best buy is offering the latest iphone for just a buck. yes, $1. the deal will require a two- year agreement through either

the force is mother nature has changed the forces of weather back to what it should be for this time of the year, that's more normal temperatures for today and colder december-like weather, blustery weather for tomorrow. we're at 47 degrees right now. the humidity is dry. the winds are northwest. look at the pressure here, 29.74 is low. normal fair weather is about 30.0. well, that enmoos the atmosphere is unstable -- that means the atmosphere is unstable. 44 islip. these numbers are warmer than our average afternoon high temperatures, but we also have been seeing temperatures in the 60s the last couple of weeks with the average, you know, temperatures, the departures from normal about 12 degrees warmer than normal. we're looking at very warm air finally cooling down, some numbers that are here that are more in line with where they should be for this time of the year. right at the coast, lee goldberg was talking about this last night. there's cloud cover at the coast and a couple of sprinkles. high pressure will build in and

that's only going to be for a short period of time. it's just tomorrow and sunday we start to see the jet stream going back to the north and buckling out here to the west. they'll be colder, plenty of snow in the rockies where there have been record snows, and the sierras and olympias, near record warmth next week as we head towards christmas. tomorrow there could be some flurries around, maybe even in northern new jersey, southeastern new york state, some flurries around with this cold air squeezing out of the moisture. it will feel like the 30s and start the day feeling like the 20s tomorrow. sunday we got sunshine, less wind and 46. the temperatures will keep falling. it's brisk and colder tonight, 20s in the suburbs. it will be blustery colder tomorrow, feels like the 30s in the afternoon, after 20s in the morning and wind gusts tomorrow at 35 miles an hour. you see on saturday a couple of flakes around, blustery and much colder. it will feel like the 30s all day. we're going to be looking at sunday where it's a day where it's less wind and feels better. in ex-week temperatures back off to the races.
