subway status, we had earlier problems on the 4 trains, grand concourse repaired. expect residual delays. southern state parkway exit 30 vehicle fire has been extinguished. traffic is easing up. great at the east river crossings. alternate side of the street parking rules in effect. ken and lori, over to you. >> heather, thank you. developing in brooklyn, a woman and her boyfriend are dead and the woman's daughter is in custody. >> the couple was found inside an apartment last night on batchelder street in sheepshead bay. eyewitness news reporter kristin thorne is live at the scene. >> reporter: ken and lori, police say the 15-year-old girl, the woman's daughter implicated herself in the murders. she has not been formally charged but is being questioned. bodies of the 39-year-old woman and her boyfriend were found inside the apartment on

batchelder street in sheepshead bay yesterday evening. the woman was shot multiple times. the man was shot and stabbed. the woman's body found in the bedroom of the apartment. the man's body found in the kitchen. it's believed that they were killed december 27th. again, the woman police say implicated herself in the murders and they are looking at the possibility that someone else was involved in these killings. live in sheepshead morning, kristin thorne, channel 7 eyewitness news. >> kristin, thank you. a vehicle from an arrest on long island is connected to a murder in virginia. police in freeport say plate readers lead them to a stolen vehicle. when officers pulled the vehicle over, they found this man, tremaine williams behind the wheel. officers found a loaded m-4 assault rifle in the car. detectives say the vehicle he was driving is part of a homicide investigation.

president obama plans to meet with attorney general loretta lynch to discussion what actions he could take to reduce gun violence. tomorrow he is expected to announce executive actions to strengthen background checks. thursday night he will participate in a town hall meeting to talk about reducing gun violence. critics criticize the congress. as we head into the colder part of the year, andrew cuomo wants to protect the homeless.it does not provide additional funding to help communities house homeless people. tomorrow the temperature is forecasted to drop below freeze being tomorrow. some homeless people don't like the order because they are harassed in shelters. now to a developing story. the man whose arson case

team -- high school track team put speed to use. this cell phone video shows the bus carrying members of the track team. they were on their way to the essex county relay championship. their head coach was parked in his car behind the bus when he saw smoke. >> i started beeping my horn, beeping the horn to get the kids' attention. i got out of the car to rush and get them off the bus. some kids ran that way and some that way. as i got the kids off the bus, you see the fire going up the sides of the bus. >> the students are okay. much of the equipment was destroyed. the team did compete with the meet. time to check the forecast. >> let's check outside with bill and what high tide temp is. >> it's cold. you need hat, gloves, a morning where we have a few clouds. you can see the stars here. partly cloudy skies.

the wind will be cranking. it would be colder if we had snow on the ground. fortunately we do not. we have clear skies all the way down to lower manhattan to partly cloudy skies. dry humidity. northwest wind 10 to 20 miles per hour. the temperatures this morning are where they should be for this hour of the day. this is normal. we should be in the upper 20s to teens north and west. these temperatures are normal but it will feel like a cold shocker today. we had record highs for christmas. we are looking at real feels in the 20s. the meters in brooklyn, colder at 11,ing 8, 9 to monticello. northwest wind, brand-new air mass coming in from canada out of the arctic diving down and south. with the northerly wind can't rule out the fact you don't see a flurry around as well. we will have temperatures that feel like the 20s and teens this afternoon.

wall street opens capping the worst year since 2008. the dow starts down 178 points at 17,425. nasdaq and s&p 500 also begin lower. overseas chinese stocks plunged nearly 7% today. that triggered an emergency trading suspension and gave global markets an unnerving start to 2016. hopefully that is not a sign of things to comfort year. hong kong hang seng index 2% lower. nikkei lower.

china used the circuit breaker to halt trading altogether. it hit the lowest level in three months. analyst blamed it on weak manufacturing data and the new tensions in the middle east over the last few days. volkswagen will begin one of the largest recalls. emission test cheating software is present in 11 million of the diesel vehicles. it involves a trip to the dealer for a software upgrade and in some cases, a new plastic hose connected to the air intake system. if it hurts the performance of the vehicle, vw could face a wave of customer lawsuits. bridge on to 95 express lane south exit 68 that is an accident involving a garbage truck. george washington bridge inbound looks great. up to 20 minutes inbound lincoln and holland tunnel. keep that in mind. alternate side of the street parking rules in effect today h. ken, over to you. >> thank you, heather. we have breaking news just in from the bronx. a worker at a mcdonald's has been stabbed to death. this happened overnight at a restaurant at broadway and west 236th in kingsbridge. police say the worker got in a dispute with another man around 4:30 this morning. the man stabbed the 28-year-old worker in the chest. that worker pronounced dead at the hospital. police describe the suspect as man in his 30s wearing a dark hood deand blue jeans. floodwaters pr threatening new communities -- are threatening new communities on the mississippi river.

it happened at broadway and west 236th? kingsbridge. police say the worker got in a dispute with another man at 4:30 this morning. the other man, a 28-year-old worker got stabbed in the chest by the man. the worker pronounced dead at the hospital. the suspect is a man in his mid- 30s wearing a hoodie and blue jeans. we will bring you a live report when the crew arrives. a teenage girl [ inaudible ] kristin thorne is live on the scene. >> reporter: police are on the scene. they say a 39-year-old woman was shot several times. her boyfriend, a 40-year-old man was shot and stabbed several times. they both were no r pronounced dead at the scene. the woman's daughter, a 15-year- old girl police say implicated herself in the murders and she is in police custody.

showed an uptick in violent crimes in the city in 2015. the mayor's office said the pioneering changes will affect the internal operations and external operations of the statement. today is known as black monday in the nfl because it's the day where coaches get fired. we will find out if it's a black and blue monday for tom coughlin. coughlin and the giants finished the third straight losing season yesterday. he has not lead the big blue to the play-offs since winning 9 super bowl four years ago. letter. it's not easy being green this morning. it's down right painful. the jets come back home today after letting a play-off berth slip from their grasp in buffalo. a 22-17 loss to the former head coach, rex ryan's bill combined with the win in cleveland means the season is over.

people are dead after the quake struck the northeast region of the country. more than 100 people were injured. it damaged a nuclear of buildings leaving huge cracks in walls and caused part of a market to collapse. a gun battle in afghanistan. a gunman that tried to storm the consulate is holed up in a nearby building firing rockets and automatic weapons. there are reports of new fighting near kabul airport. in india, army forces are trying to kill the last of the gunmen that attacked an air base near the pakistan border. it started early saturday. seven troops are four gunmen were killed so far. a hit and run in new orleans where the victim was dragged for more than six miles. eyewitnesses say they saw the man hit by a black sedan in the french quarter. the car sped away heading at oncoming traffic.

hours later after it was dragged across a mississippi river bridge. fdr in manhattan was shut down sunday following a chain reaction crash that involved three police cars. a driver stopped short around noon on the southbound lanes in east harlem causing the officer driving the first police car to slam on the brakes. he was rear ended by two other police cars and another vehicle that followed close behind. the injuries were minor. new video of the cargo ship that sank last october after getting caught in a hurricane. the ntsb released the video of the ship. it was taken by underwater vehicles. all 38 crew members on board died. they are considering launching another search of the wreckage in hopes of finding the data recorder. mayor de blasio and senator chuck schumer will be spreading the word at the barclay center

the first workday for the commuter benefits law. by one calculation, commuters will save $443 a year off the cost of a monthly metro card. dray clark just arrived at the scene. what do we know. >> reporter: good morning. ken. the 28-year-old mcdonald's worker was stabbed multiple times in the torso and later died. you can see the restaurant at 236 and broadway wrapped in crime scene tape. detectives are inside the restaurant where we believe the stabbing happened. there was some type of dispute between the worker and unidentified suspect. the suspect pulled out a knife and stabbed that worker in the torso multiple times. the worker was rushed to nearby new york press by tear yale hospital where he was pronounced dead. police are looking nor that suspect. coincidentally, this mcdonald's is across the street from the 50th police precinct. police were hear almost instantly after getting the
