charges as police search for a 5th person this morning. police are looking for the gunman that shot a gas station clerk on long island. >> an accuweather alert is in effect this morning. you are fine. wait until you get up to speed on the snow showers expected for the evening commute. >> got to prepare. >> good morning, i'm lori stokes. >> i'm michelle charlesworth. >> you are never more than seven minutes away from weather and traffic and meteorologist bill evans. >> as we get to the evening commute it can be quite slippery and dangerous on streets, sidewalks, highways with icy conditions. a nuisance snow on the way. we are looking at other temperatures like 9 at westhampton. when you have a clear sky, calm wind, sandy soil like westhampton, the warmth of the day is gone quick overnight. 19 wrightstown to 12 monticello and over to phillipsburg and warren county.

farther to the west is the snow showers. those come in this afternoon. what time, 2:00 west of the city. slippery this evening. black ice tonight. slippery conditions for tomorrow morning's commute. weather then heather. she has conditions on a perfectly dry day. >> we have pictures of this mess in brooklyn involving a tractor trailer that was traveling on tillery street then flipped over. when it flipped it spilled all the garbage over park avenue. that is the b.q.e. above us. this is park avenue over there. you can see the mess and all that garbage. let's go to the maps and pinpoint where this is. tillery street ramp to the northbound side of the b.q.e. that's where the garbage spill occurred. the garbage spilled on to park avenue below the b.q.e. sanitation will get out there and clean this up. you have delays both directions

as a result of that. then the northeast b.q.e. ramp to the brooklyn bridge just about reopening with the construction being cleared at the brooklyn bridge. mass transit is okay. street cleaning rules are in effect. lori, over to you. >> a group of teenagers is charged with rape this morning after police say they threatened a father and attacked his daughter. police say the group was caught on surveillance video moments before the attack inside a lead to their arrest. eyewitness news reporter dray clark is live in downtown brooklyn. dray? >> good morning, lori, the teenagers are facing rape and sex abuse charges. later on they will make a court appearance in downtown brooklyn and we expect them to pled not guilty. they claim what happened was not rape but consensual. this is surveillance video police released showing the five accused teenage attackers

the alleged rape happened thursday at the osbourne park playground in brooklyn. the 18-year-old woman and her father were in the park drinking when they claim the five teens ran up on them and put a gun to the father's head and told him to leave while they gang raped his daughter. sunday two of the teens were arrested. another two were turned in by their family members. back live outside the courthouse, police are still looking for a 5th suspect. they are asking for the public's help. the if you have any information on where that person may be, give the police a call. live in downtown brooklyn, dray clark, channel 7 eyewitness news. >> thank you, dray. we turn to overseas. following breaking news in turkey. a deadly blast rocked istanbul's historic district. 10 people are dead and 15 more are hurt. a government official says it appears to be linked to terrorists. it happened at a park near

police sealed off the area after the blast. this is a live look at the scene in istanbul. this attack comes a few months after another deadly blast in turkey where 100 people were killed in october when suicide bombers attacked a peace rally there. police are trying to find the crook that shot a gas station attendant. it happened late last night. someone with a gun came up to the attendant on new york avenue after a confrontation the robber fired once. the attendant is in the hospital with an injury to his leg. president obama is putting the finishing touches on his last state of the union address. he is expected to frame the choices facing americans.

a mosque was riddled with gunshots after the paris attacks. and james tillman cleared from dna testing after serving 18 years in prison for a rape he didn't commit and a man whose son was killed in the sandy hook tragedy and governor malloy. you can watch the state of the union address on abc 7 and the watch abc app and we will stream it at abc7ny. governor christie will deliver his state of the state address today in trenton. this will be the first such address since becoming a presidential candidate. he is expected to highlight new jersey's improving economy. the unemployment rate fallen to 5.3% from 9.8% when he took office. the state's private sector added about 224,000 jobs. donald trump was on "the tonight show" talking about bernie sanders and hillary

>> how do you think she is doing? >> well, it's tough. i think she is having a tough time. she has some guy who should be easy to beat. i mean, how can you lose like this. he really isn't even a democrat. he said he's a socialist and i think he may be a step beyond a socialist and she is not doing well. she is about tied in iowa. she is losing new hampshire which is sort of amazing. i think she has a race that is a little tougher. >> trump seemed more subdued after his first experience campaigning for seven days straight. the list of participants for the first republican presidential primary debate of the new year is in and rand paul and carly fiorina are out. fox business network is hosting the debate. they cut the two from the prime time stage. the pair was invited to participate in an under card debate though paul says he plans to skip that.

some tried to help find the victims. >> they were asking if anybody nobody responded. reports say the two sisters were 12 and 8 years old. under investigation. right now gas is not believed to be a factor. we have new details on el chapo's return to prison. he is in solitary confinement with a triple reinforced shower floor fighting extradition to the united states. his lawyers filed six motions to move him. the extradition will take one year. actor sean penn is defending his interview saying he has nothing to hide. >> people upstate are already digging out of two feet of snow that fell yesterday in copenhagen.

later today. we can show you live pictures from midtown looking south. we have a temperature starting around 26. the humidity is dry. wind are calm. pressure is falling. yesterday's high was 40. a little above normal for this time of year. this morning temperatures are in the 20s. no wind because the winds are calm. off to the west, here is the clipper system. a trailing arctic front comes in this afternoon. we have a good morning until noon then cloudy then the snow starts west of the city around 2:00, 3:00. in the city 3:00, 4:00 eastern long island. it will mix in with rain making it slippery. then the temperatures plumb net tonight into the 20s and teens. that will freeze stuff overnight. roads that haven't been treated, sidewalks, blackize tonight and tomorrow. we are not looking at a lot of snow.

the dow starts up at 62 points. flat. right now futures are pointing to a higher open. 2%. hong kong hang seng index closed down nearly 1%. opening statements begin in manhattan in the first trial against general motors after a faulty ignition switch triggered massive recalls. a man was hurt in a crash in oklahoma two years ago. the fault eye switch caused the airbags to fail during the crash. this is the first of six trials in cases involving 1,000 people. the name goes all the way back to the golden age of black and white television.

little in the way of wind here. 23 around newark and 26 over to brooklyn and queens. a light wind to a calm wind here which is not a bad thing at all. the next seven hours, temperature rises to 40 as we go along. then the snow starts this afternoon after 1:00 as we get into the low 40s and the temperature drops like sunshine this morning. a fine morning. 37 by noon. the temperature drops with the snow. slippery roads and sidewalks for the evening. we talk about that coming up. heather is looking at the commute. i have newscopter 7 to show us pictures of the b.q.e. john del giorno is up above. here is the b.q.e. northbound side. this was the ramp from tillery street, still the ramp but this is the ramp from tillery to the b.q.e. proper. tractor trailer was hauling garbage, some fell on to park avenue. sanitation will get out there and clear it up.

developing in brooklyn, four teenagers are charged overnight in connection with a gang rape. another suspect is on the run. >> two homes went up in flames on long island. how the quick work of the fire department prevented more damage. >> we are in the clear right now but we are hours away from snowfall across the tri-state. >> an overturned tractor trailer is leading to big delays on the brooklyn-queens expressway. john del giorno has an update over the scene in newscopter 7. john? >> reporter: good morning, michelle. a commuter alert this morning traveling from lower brooklyn to queens.

closed with falling debris on 7th avenue. cross island north at union turnpike, another accident and we have alternate side of the street parking rules in effect. lori, over to you. >> heather, thank you. developing be long island, a fast-moving fire damaged two homes overnight. new video this morning shows the flames a few hours ago on west fulton in long beach. letter it started at one house then spread to one next door. no one was hurt. the fire was quickly put under control before it spread to other homes. developing this morning, four teenagers are facing rape charges after a teenager says she was gang raped in a brooklyn park. a 5th suspect is still on the run. dray clark is live in downtown brooklyn, dray. among the charges they are facing, they will make a court appears in downtown brooklyn

expecting them to pled not guilty. the police commissioner says there is no question he attacked the victim. the acquisitioned rape -- alleged rape happened thursday at the osbourne park. the 18-year-old and her father were in the park drinking when the father claims five teenagers ran up and put a gun to his head telling him to leave while they allegedly gang raped his daughter. this store video shows the father standing there in the black coat with red sleeves trying to get someone to help. eyewitness news spoke to the 18- year-old victim. >> i was real squared. i didn't know what what to do. i was in panic mode. >> at this juncture, we have no doubt that she was raped in that yard. >> reporter: police released the surveillance video showing all five teenagers before the

sunday night, two teens ages 14 to 17 years old were captured. another two turned in my family members. >> we are seeking a 5th individual and seeking to determine his identity and confirm that. we are confident with the public's help that that will occur. >> reporter: the teenagers maintain what happened rape but consensual. they are scheduled to make an appearance in court later on this morning. dray clark, channel 7 eyewitness news. >> thank you, dray. now a developing story on staten island. a scary situation for an nypd sergeant when his s.u.v. slammed into a building on bay street after midnight. mallory hoff is live on the scene in clifton with new information. >> reporter: good morning. you have to imagine this must

situation -- nerve-racking situation. what we are seeing is a large gaping hole on the outside of this building left behind as a result of this crash. now, this is a flower shop you are looking at here. the crash happened around midnight. nypd says the officer who is actually a sergeant had a medical condition that lead him to pass out behind the wheel. by the time he woke up, as you can see, it was clearly too late. he had already crashed into the side of this building. witnesses say at the time of the accident the lights were actually flashing on this police cruiser. just since i spoke to you at 5:30, we caught up with the owners of the flower shop. they were here to survey the damage. >> this is your shop, these your livelihood. what do you do now. >> the only thing is what she got.

she makes money for a living, you know what i mean? >> back out live as you can see, there are apartments on top of this flower shop. we are told at least two apartments, after the accident happened, the people who live upstairs ran down to make sure that the officer was okay. now, this morning we are told they are actually not allowed back inside. neither were the owners of the flower shop. the reason, this building now has to be tested for structural integrity. in the meantime, we are told the officer was taken to a nearby hospital. he was treated for nonlife- threatening injuries. he is expected to be okay. live on staten island, mallory hoff, channel 7 eyewitness news. >> thank you. new this morning, police on long island are looking for this man. they say his bizarre behavior terrified a baby-sitter in woodmere. this video shows the suspect a short time after he told the sitter that she was, quote,

stroller. he demanded the child and the sitter retreated into the family's home, the man tried to get in yelling for her to give him the baby. he finally left taking the stroller. he later abandoned the stroller at a restaurant in hewlett. happening today, the bronx father charged with killing his pregnant daughter heads back to court. william caruth was arrested last wednesday, the same day the body of andrea caruth was found inside their home in baychester. she was five months pregnant. police say the two were in a dispute over money. you are never more than seven minutes away from weather and traffic and bill evans with the accuweather forecast. >> we take a look from our camera on the fort lee side, the george washington bridge. morning. beautiful. at the top of the fort lee side is where heather lives. that's how she can keep an eye on the traffic all over the tri- state region.

breaking news. officials out of turkey say it was a syria linked suicide bomber behind the deadly bombing in a popular tourist area in istanbul. it happened in a park in the historic district near the blue mosque. police sealed off the area after the blast. a suicide bomber linked to syria. more than 100 people were killed in october when suicide bombers attacked a peace rally. several stores are recalling children's cold medicine because of the risk of a potential overdose. it covers two different flavors of store branded medicine sold in 4-ounce bottles. it was sold with a dose cup that was marked incorrectly.

yesterday's high 40 degrees. temperatures at normal. yesterday it felt like 20 all day. so, it's cold in the overnight hours but we are minus the wind. we will look at a shot of snow showers this afternoon and evening and that will continue into tonight and moderating temperatures toward the end of the week into the weekend. good morning. here we go. 20s to start the day. teens north and west. calm wind so we don't have a harsh windchill and sunshine and a nice start to the day. we are looking at sunshine now, clouds to the west. well to the west is the snow we are talking about. a clipper in the great lakes has a trailing arctic front comes in after lunch today. temperatures get to 40 this afternoon then the snow starts. the snow starts at 2:00, 3:00. so, that means the cold air comes in after sunset. this stuff freezes up this evening.

a student pilot learned an emergency lesson. it was not a crash coshes. she had to land the two teeth seater on -- seater on a southern california highway. this was near los angeles. nobody was hurt. the faa heads to the scene to try to figure out what went wrong. you are waking up to chilly temperatures this morning. at least you are waking up to that. this car parked near lake erie in western new york was left encased in ice as the area was hit with snow, rain and strong winds.

rape charges after an attack inside a park. >> eyewitness news reporter dray clark is live in downtown brooklyn. dray? >> reporter: good morning. the four teenagers are scheduled to have a court appearance in downtown brooklyn later on this morning. we expect them to pled not guilty because they claim what happened was consensual. this was surveillance video police released of the teenage suspects before the alleged rape happened. the rape happened last thursday at the osborne park in brownsville. the 18-year-old woman and her father were in the park having drinks when the five teens ran up on them, put a gun to the father's head and told him to walk away while they gang raped his daughter. police are looking for the 5th suspect. if you have any information on where he may be, give the police a call. live in downtown brooklyn, dray clark, channel 7 eyewitness news. >> thank you, dray. there are big delays on the b.q.e.
