lori, over to you. >> heather, thank you. a rape investigation is underway at the port authority bus terminal after a woman said she was attacked while meeting a guy for a date. eyewitness news reporter dray clark is live in midtown. >> reporter: good morning, lori. the port authority bus terminal is a big place, a public place. the victim thought she would be safe here. she met her would be attacker on the popular dating web site e harmony. the man called himself receive friday kent. they met at the port authority bus terminal monday around 4:00. she said the man immediately tried to take her to a hotel and when she told him no, she said the man told her he had a gun pointed at her back. she said the man then forced her into a sway tunnel where he raped her. the victim managed to feel her way to 41st street where she flagged down a firefighter and

happened to her and she was rushed to the hospital. she was taken to the hospital again where she was treated and she has now since then been working with the port authority to try to give them a better description of her attacker. the problem is port authority police don't have a good detailed description of what the man looks like. they are trying to get the word out here because they are still concerned that he may very well still be in the area, perhaps with his sights set on another person. if you have any information or perhaps you may have met this guy under the same circumstances using the name jeffrey kent, the police want to hear from you. they want to catch him before he does the same thing to someone else. live in midtown, dray clark, channel 7 eyewitness news. >> thank you for that. breaking news now. we are learning more about a deadly bus crash in japan. we have learned in the last hour that police are taking a

that has a long record of driver violations and one of its buses was ordered off the road two days ago. early this morning, 14 people were killed and 27 injured when one of the ski tour buses broke through a guardrail and slid part way down a mountain side. investigators report the road was clear and free of ice and snow. and developing overnight in indonesia, three men linked to isis are under arrest for yesterday's terror attacks in jakarta. the men were picked up in free dawn raids and police found an isis flag in one man's home. the attacks killed two people an injured 20. five attacksers were killed by police with their own suicide vests. a random and unprovoked attack left a man badly hurt. he did not know the extent of the injuries until he looked in the mirror. he was walking home on east

said a man slashed him across the face and knocked him to the ground. martin has more than 100 stitches in his face. he wants his attacker to turn himself in before someone else gets hurt. it has been a miserable 18 months for the people inside a building in the bronx living without the use of gas. people who live at 2200 aqua duct avenue rallied to demand their landlord fix the problem. they say most residents can't use their stoves and have no heat. some gas lines were turned on in october but many apartments are still out in the cold. >> we have children who are sleeping with their hoodies, scarves, sweaters, sweats so they can stay warm over the winter. >> i bought some electronic devices that help me. sometimes we go to restaurants.

after school it will be around 50. get outside. get exercise if you don't have athletics after school. it will be a great day to be outside. the weekend features rain and mild temperatures. then bitter cold makes a come back. heather is looking at the commute. >> commuting in or out of staten island, not a bad ride. we have a problem in staten island that involves an overturned vehicle. we will check in with john del giorno in newscopter 7. good morning, john. >> that's right, heather. we have local problems in the oak wanted section of staten island. this accident is right in front of monsignor farrell high school. it involved an overturned vehicle happening during the overnight hours. police are still on the scene. in the last two minutes they uprighted the vehicle. you can see it hooked up. they got it back up on its wheels. this is amboy road, again in front of monsignor farrell high school. you can see police are on the scene. the southbound lanes are shut down.

we learned overnight a new case of ebola has been discovered in west africa. the news comes one day after the world health organization said the ebola outbreak was over. tests done on a woman that died earlier this month in sierra leone came back positive for ebola. authorities are tracing anyone she came in contact with before going to the hospital. goldman sachs agreed to pay $5 billion to settle federal,

the financial crisis. goldman had a prime role in the sale of toxic mortgages in the years leading up to the housing bubble. the bank agreed to pay $1.8 billion in consumer relief. that will include loan forgiveness for underwater homeowners as well as support for affordable housing. the rest of the money goes to the federal government. the giants introduce their new head coach who is also their old offensive coordinator. ben mcadoo takes over. he is set to hold the first news conference since officially being named to the post. mcadoo has been in charge of big blue's offense the past two seasons. he is the nfl's second youngest head coach. stay with eyewitness news for complete coverage of the big announcement. former giants head coach tom coughlin has taken himself out of the running of the eagles coaching search.

u.s. stock futures are pointing to a deep sell off one day after stocks posted big gains. the dow starts at 16,379. nasdaq and s&p 500 had a great day on thursday. >> nikkei closed slightly lower. hong kong hang seng index dropped more than 1 1/2 percent. cell phone companies are charging customers more than ever for overrages. a survey conducted by a financial services company found one in five cell phone customers reported paying overages over the last six months. 28% of at&t customers say they were charged for overrages.

the port authority bus terminal. it began as an innocent meeting between strangers. dray clark sent out this tweet after arriving on the scene this morning. he joins us from midtown. >> good morning, lori. the 28-year-old victim said she met her would be attacker on the popular web site e harmony. the man called himself on the web site jeffrey kent. monday afternoon the two men here at the port authority bus terminal, the victim thought it was a public place with plenty of people. she thought she would be safe. the moment she met the man, he wanted to go to a hotel. when she refused, the man told her he had a gun to her back. she then said the man forced her into a sec crudded area at the bus terminal which she believes is an old subway tunnel where she says the man raped her. after the rape the victim made

she flagged down a fir and told him what happened. she was rushed to the hospital. since the attack the victim has been working with the port authority police department to try to provide them with a better deaths description first of her attacker and also to try and lead them to the area where she was attacked. police do not have a detailed description of who the man might be. they are still very concerned that he may be out here somewhere, perhaps in the terminal. they are warning women to be careful. in the meantime, if by chance you came across the name jeffrey kent on the e harmony web site, the police would like to hear from you because they are disseparate to find this man before he tries the same thing on someone else. live in midtown, dray clark, channel 7 eyewitness news. >> dray, thank you. friends and family will say the final farewells to one of the columbia university students killed in a bus crash

21-year-old daniella move son a junior at barnyard was one of 30 volunteers who worked with clumps medical brigade program. she and two others were killed wednesday when the bus crashed and fell into a ravine heading to the airport to come home. the suspect in an armed bank robbery on long island is in serious condition after he was shot by a security guard. it happened at a chase bank around 6:00 last night in franklin square. police say the man announced he would rob the bank before pulling out a gun and pointing it at two security guards. one is a retired security guard. he opened fire hitting the suspect. police have not identified the suspect. we do know he underwent surgery last night and is expected to survive. more than a week after the alleged gang rape of an 18-year- old woman in a brooklyn park,

the d.a.'s office admitted that they could not meet the deadline to secure indictments against the teenagers. an attorney for the one of the suspects says it is a step in the right direction in a case that has only proved to confuse investigators. >> i see an incredible amount of doubt. the 5th suspect is being held on a prior charge. nypd officers confronted an armed suspect in the bronx and the dramatic moments were caught on camera. the surveillance video shows two officers in morris heights with guns drawn ordering an armed suspect to drop the gun he was carrying. this happened monday night. the officers say they saw the man firing the gun just before they arrested him. we got breaking news in brooklyn. newscopter 7 just arrived over

involving a school bus and ambulance in the crown heights section of brooklyn. john del giorno joins us with the details. john? >> reporter: shirleen, what we see is severe damage to the ambulance. the report is that this was an accident between a school bus and ambulance at atlantic avenue and bedford. live pictures from newscopter 7. you can see the ambulance there up on the island of the roadway. now, they said a school bus was involved here. we did not get investors of injuries on the school bus. the initial report was that it suffered minor damage to the front end. you can see severe damage on this ambulance. we have word of two injuries. the westbound direction of atlantic avenue, that's the direction heading to barclay center, that is shut down while police continue to operate at the scene. john del giorno, channel 7 eyewitness news. >> quite a scene, thank you.

debate turned to confrontation last night as donald trump turned on ted cruz for insulting new york. eyewitness news reporter rob nelson is live. >> reporter: it's not a surprise that these two guys are going at each other. what did come as a surprise is that in recent days cruz has taken unexpected swipes at new york city. that forced donald trump who was born in queens to defend his hometown. the simmering tensions between donald trump and ted cruz finally erupted into a head to head battle. the two leading candidates tore into each other first with trump raising the birther issue then made fun of cruz what if he made him his vice presidential side kick only to

we continue to follow breaking news in brooklyn. newscopter 7 is over a crash involving a school bus and ambulance in crown heights. >> john del giorno joins us with the very latest on this breaking story. john? >> reporter: shirleen and lori, we will update the situation. this accident happened apparently about 20 minutes ago. it looks like it happened in the westbound lanes of atlantic avenue. a school bus collided with this ambulance. the school bus received minor damage. we have been able to confirm there were no injuries on the school bus. we can't tell you if it was occupied at the time of the accident. from what i can tell, the school bus has driven away from the accident scene. the ambulance has fairly serious damage. we did learn there are two

unclear whether it was crew or patient but those people are being treated for injuries. the westbound lanes of atlantic avenue just reopened. that should help the traffic situation a bit. live over crown heights, john del giorno, channel 7 eyewitness news. >> thank you, john. new this morning, three new york city police officers become heros hundreds of miles from home. the trio saved a woman's life on snowy interstate 80 near the ohio border. here is the three officers. they saved an elderly woman in a wheelchair. she was inside an ambulette that overturned. one officer cut her free and the other administered first aid. where it might be marginal, ice mixed in. traveling up there around 84 to monticello to albany, you might find ice mixed with rain. then it's gone. tomorrow afternoon in the upper 40s before we cool off for sunday. hire is the clouds come in by 4:00, 5:00 this evening. rain by midnight. letter monticello could have wet snow and ice mixed in and even into massachusetts, not the best of skiing with the rain but it will be cold enough to make snow sunday upstate new york. we have a few good shots of getting snow because the cold air will be in place. some of the lose will come out country. 50 degrees. near 50 is the temperature after school. get outside. 49 degrees and then looking at tomorrow about 50 after the rain goes by.

a school bus and an ambulance. >> let's get the latest from john del giorno. john? >> reporter: lori, we are getting to this as all lanes are reopened on atlantic avenue. this accident about a half hour ago between an ambulance and school bus. no injuries on the school bus that drove from the scene. the ambulance, two injuries on board. both serious but stable conditions. this intersection busy. a lot of traffic on atlantic avenue into the intersection of bedford. all lanes have just been reopened. live over brooklyn, john del giorno, channel 7 eyewitness news. >> john, thank you. new this morning, police are searching for a man that raped a woman at the port authority bus terminal after meeting her online. the suspect goes by jeffrey kent on e harmony. she was meeting him at port authority monday after. he wanted to take her to a hotel. when she refused, he told her he had a gun. >> scary stuff.
