ramp. the driver took off after hitting the victim. he was taken to the hospital where he unfortunately did not make it. a new jersey community is mourning the death of a well known business owner as police continue to search for his killer. police closed off irving street as friends and family held a candlelight vigil outside the sneaker store that he owned. he was shot and killed inside east coast boutique. those who knew him say he was respected in his business and in his community. >> 21 years, so ambitious, like does so many things in the community. >> he would give a homeless person the shirt off his back or last bit of food. it didn't matter.

>> he opened the store as a very young man, 18 years old, after starting the sneaker business out of his home. friends say they'll do everything they can to keep the store open. we're following the very late iflt developments in virginia. a police officer was shot and killed on her very first day with the force there. officer ashley guindon died last night responding to a domestic violence call. she was sworn in friday after previously serving for several years as a police officer before she took a break. two other officers were injured in the shooting. they arrived on scene and found a woman dead in a home. the suspect was a military service man and is in custody this morning. allegations that a teenage girl from they assaulted by classmates. she told investigators she was

field trip to a dude ranch. the students attend the south bronx prep school. the police investigation has been confirmed calling it a horrifying incident. a police chase in new jersey ended when a driver lost control and crashed into a home. saddle brook police say it began when officers tried to pull a nissan over for running a red light. the driver fled, leading drivers on a chase through lodi and then the car caught fire. police arrested the driver after a foot chase. it was a run away win in south carolina for hillary clinton, the former first lady got a big boost. the candidates look to the

we're expecting a high around 60 which is way, way above normal by about 15 degrees for this time of year. 67 was your record high back in 1976. much milder today right through tomorrow and tuesday. one little fly in the ointment tomorrow morning would be a brief shower moving through as a cold front moves through the tri-state area. the potential for our next significant weather maker is tuesday night, wednesday morning. but it's a pretty quick moving system, not expecting any flooding or the severe weather that we had this past wednesday when we had all the trees down across the area. so this is not expected to be that big of a we are still watching, though, very late in the week, for the potential of snowfall. that would come during the day on

sneaker store he worked very hard to build. kristen is live in raw way with his story. good morning. >>reporter: good morning, michelle. the union county prosecutor's office are still investigating the shooting. as of now they have no motive for the shooting. p if you take a look outside the store this morning, you can see a small memorial outside the store owned by jamal gains. the 21-year-old opened up the east coast boutique shop when he was 18 years old. last night more than 100 people held a vigil outside the store. friday night. what people just don't understand is why someone would shoot this young man who they describe as so caring, well loved throughout the community, and by his family. >> i still can't believe it.

that's my only grandson. i'm proud of him and his sister has always made me proud. >> there is a $10,000 reward being offered for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of whomever did this. we're live in raw way, kristen news. three people are dead and foufr four others hurt after a fiery crash on a southern california freeway. investigators say the crash involving eight vehicles including a ups truck was caused by two drivers who were street racing. the truck driver and two others were all killed. one of the drivers involved in the race was injured and taken into custody. caught on camera, a wild crash involving an out of control dumptruck in texas. take a look dashcam captured cars waiting at

in the right lane, plows through two others and crashes in a concrete barrier. the truck landed in a creek bed. five went to the hospital. the truck driver cannot even explain why he lost control. we are seeing new video this morning of the violence at an anti-immigration ral why i that happened in california -- rally you can see can you cluchl ku klux klan demonstrators clashing with others at a park in anaheim yesterday afternoon. one man is accused of stabbing a counter protestor with the decorative end of a flag pole, setting off a brawl that two groups. three people ended up being stabbed, one of whom was critically injured. crowds gathered at a car dealership last night one week after richard smith and his killed there.

he faces charges of drug trafficking. his lawyer said he'll plead guilty if he can be guaranteed a reasonable sentence. guzman was taken into custody last month after escaping from prison for just the second time six months earlier. what seemed like a practical joke could and has indeed become a felony charge for three middle school girls. one of them was disciplined by a teacher at their florida school. the schools then allegedly hatched a plan to dump her soda. she apparently choked and had shortness of breath. the girls were arrested and face felony charges of poisoning. story that will anger you this morning. investigators have charged a woman who helped open christmas cards for a young burn victim and she's been charged with stealing those cards. more than a million cards and packages poured into new york

asked for cards online. she lost her family and was severely burned in an arson fire. volunteers like kimberly rad ford helped deal with all the incoming mail. >> it restored faith in humanity. in such a terrible time in the world with everything going on. >> this is a despicable crime. you can't get any lower than this. >> police say bradford stole a mail bin of christmas cards from that warehouse, stole at east $800 in cash and $550 worth of gift cards out of the cards. florida's annual python hunt has come to to an end. hunters captured 106 burmese pythons in the last month. the longest python caught this year was 15 feet long. more than 1,000 people from 29 states registered to take part in the snake challenge.

zimbabwe is drawing criticism as the country faces drought and strugly economy -- struggling economy. it was the president's birthday and they had a party. the opposition party said the lavish celebrations are insensitive to those who have little to eat or drink literally in the harsh sh conditions. oprah is losing more than just some weight in her partnership with weight watchers. she's lost $27 million since taking a 10% stake in the company. shares of weight watchers plunged almost 30% in the last quarter while the company reported an $11 million loss. the midas touch a little tarnished for queen oprah. we'll see if the company bounces back.

choreographer is putting an evening together benefitting broadway cares. >> ray mercer says he doesn't sleep at night because there is a good chance he's creating dances instead. he's a choreographer who also performs in the lion king. in fact this will be his 14th year in the show. >> 14 years being in the lion king afforded me to have dancers at my access and crew members and prop guys and wardrobe. >> many of his dances have been performed in gypsy of the year. >> i think there is such anticipation for ray's work at those events, made us think let's do an evening of ray's work to see what he could create us all. >> that's what this rehearsal is for. the show is called pure motion and performed at the city group theater. >> we are be jumping

. we're following the latest developments out of virginia where a lofr was shot and killed on her very -- police officer was shot and and killed on her very first day back on the force. the fairfax police department -- again this is in virginia -- and local firefighters at the hospital giving a phoenixal salute to -- final salute to this officer. ashley guindon died last night after responding to a domestic violence call. she was sworn in friday after years. two other officers were injured in the shooting when they arrived on scene, finding a woman dead inside the home. the suspect, the gunman in all of this is a military service

a big oil spill on the streets of yonkers. the fire department says a total of 21 hundred gallons ended up spilling. a cleanup company was able to help get the situation under control, clearing most of the oil from the street. but we are told some of it did make it's way into nearby storm drains that flow into river. a texas school district is suing the state to prevent it from releasing details of the arrest of a student who was handcuffed after bringing a homemade clock to school. federal investigation was ordered after 14-year-old mohamed was suspended from school for bringing in the homemade digital clock which was mistaken for a bomb. the district sued after the texas attorney general ordered the school to release the letter to the public.
