morning? >> let's talk d for deflateed d trains you can expect delays both ways and a big accident on the new jersey turnpike. it was northbound, so northbound new jersey turnpike car lanes, the right lane is closed with the emergency guard rail repair. the accident itself was on the western spur so north of what we call the mixing bowl where the western and eastern spur split but the earlier multiple vehicle accident has been cleared away. effect. ken, over to you. >> at 4:32. developing this morning, an explosive device tied to a car explodes in the bronx. we're learning new details about the blast and people inside of the car at the time. eyewitness news rep darla miles. >>reporter: nat car pulled up to the intersection behind me when the pipe bomb went off. eye learned overnight that -- eyewitness learned overnight

attached but only one went off. there were two people in the car at the time. a 24-year-old man driving and 28-year-old woman in the passenger seat. police say that was a rental car so they're trying to determine exactly when the with the explosive device which was two aerosol cans and a pipe bomb. when they got to the intersection here, the device exploded causing two flat tires and the air bags to deploy. >> it was a really loud, like a thump. it wasn't like, maybe like a gunshot but not, just sort of d. >> the two people inside the car at the time were not hurt even though the air bags deployed. police called in land security, the fbi joint terror task force and terrorism was quickly ruled out.

it is 4:33 and today five teens accused of raping a woman in a brooklyn park will have the charges formally dismissed they were arrested shortly after the january incident. initially they had thet detectives said that any sex with the teens was consensual. they also say the father had been having sex with his daughter when the incident began. >> time is 4:34. new jersey transit officials will outline the con contingencisy plan in case railroad workers go on strike. the plan is to add buses and ferries. 100,000 people use trains to get into manh. transit hub larger than a football field will open the doors today at the world trade center.

. police are searching for a hit-and-run driver who struck an elderly man in brooklyn and took off. the victim was hit every way afternoon while riding a scooter. the driver sped away leaving the victim critically hurt on the street. he is being treated at luther medical center. witnesses describe the car as a white sedan. 4:43, the nypd is rolling out a new radio station to help police officers communicating while in the subways. the department tested the updated radios in the bronx in january and are being used in manhattan. officers would lose radio contact, so called, going dark when entering the subway system and there was no way to communicate with the officers on the street.

snow over the last few weeks but two burglars are ready for some winter weather. surveillance video shows suspects stealing a snow blower in brooklyn. it happened last month. you can see the thieves load the piece of machinery into their pick-up truck before taking off. it is 4:44. you know, after that blizzard, it gave people ideas. meteorologist bill evans with the accuweather forecast. >> why would you steal a snow blower when there is no snow? >> in anticipation. >> for the snow coming tomorrow. >> if he steals it, it will come. >> is snowing tomorrow. >> you stay away from the weather. you do the traffic. >> we start out with clear skies and cold temperatures. you look down near 59th street. 5th avenue. it is a chilly morning outside. looking at temperatures that are right around 26 degrees, it is a chilly morning outside. going to be a chilly day. we have a wind out of the

gusting up to 17 miles an hour and we have a humidity that is dry and pressure that is riding. in. yesterday's high was 55 degrees but that was yesterday morning and the temperatures was dropping like a rock all day yesterday and now, our normal high is 45 and today we're upper 30s. yesterday morning's rain fall, a beautiful sunrise around 6:30. wake upwind chills in the teens. snow comes in late and lasting into friday afternoon and we have near normal temperatures this weekend. big warm up next week. 26 around north port and 24. the numbers are in the 20's. it is cold. we have wind out of the northwest here. the sustained wind speed at 8 and 20 in jfk.

as you go on to the western spur of the new jersey turnpike northbound. we had this earlier multiple vehicle accident. all traffic was diverted to the eastern spur as the western spur was closed down. the multiple vehicle accident has been cleared away but before you get there in the car lanes, we have the right lane closed down with emergency guard rail repair. the streets cleaning rules are in effect for today. ken, over to you. >> i'm still, yes, thank you very. it is 4:49, funeral services will be held for a well known business owner who was murdered on the job. this is 21-year-old jamal gains. he was shot inside his popular new jersey sneaker boutique. this happened on friday night. gains opened the store when he was just 18 after starting his sneaker business out of his home in high school. police at this point don't have a motive and have not identified a suspect. police on long island are unraveling an incident which

bill and ended with a man dead. the 20-year-old marlin patent was one of three men who drove off on the apple bees without paying early yesterday. all three were caught, but officers say that patent had, at some point experienced a medical emergency. he died at hospital. the other men are being arraigned today on various charges. rapper 50 cent, his connecticut mansion finally has a buyer. according to tmz, the buyer plans to turn the 52 room home in farming ton into an assisted living facility. the home sold for $8 million. that is 10.5 million less than the bankrupt rappers original listing price a decade ago. the florida teen accused of impersonating a doctor is facing new charges and is ordered to under go a mental examination. investigators say malachai love

staten island express. was all lanes are closed on lily pond avenue as a result. d train, the switching problems were a problem, but they've been repaired. multiple vehicle accident cleared but they're doing guard rail repairs. you go into the northbound side. the car lanes, the right lane is closed with emergency guard rail repair there. the street cleaning rules are in effect. over to you, lori. >> thank you. 5:02 and the search is on for the person who placed a homemade bomb under a car in the bronx. this morning we're learning new details about the blast and the two people inside the car. eyewitness news reporter darla miles is live on the scene in pelham bay with more details. >> good morning, lori, we learned that this is an amateur type of pipe bomb. attached to a pipe and two aerosol cans and it went off as the driver pulled off to this intersection behind me. the force of the explosion

and the right rear passenger tire to go flat. that was around 7:00 last night here at the intersection of mahan and roberts avenue in the pelham bay section of the bronx. it was attached to the rear wheel of the car. he first saw smoke, felt a small explosion and realized he had a flat tire. both people in the car, they walked away without any injuries but this is a represental car. according to police, so it is unclear at this point exactly when that explosive device was attached to it. at this point, terrorism has been ruled out. but police are trying to determine if the driver was the target of the explosion. reporting live in the pelham bay section of the bronx, darla miles. . it is 5:03. we have images into the newsroom

attack on a 91-year-old woman. this happened at about one yesterday afternoon in park slope. the video shows the suspect moments after choking and robbing the woman inside a building on 9th street. another man tried to stop attack but the suspect threatened him with a gun as well and stole his money also. thankfully, no one was seriously injured. time is 5:04. coming off of trump's super tuesday's wins. republicans will debate once again tonight. mr. trump is facing megyn kelly and there will be one less candidate on stage. lana zack joins us live from the campaign trail. >> listening to the rhetoric it is hard to tell if republicans are more concerned about hillary clinton or donald trump. with donald trump's high poll numbers materializing into votes, and now a demanding lead in the delegate count, republicans are working to stop the man on track to lead the

>> and the washington post is reporting this morning that the clinton aide that helped establish her basement server has been granted immunity in exchange for his testimony. the clinton campaign says they're pleased he is cooperating. reporting live from washington, lana zack, abc news. a different sort of protest waiting for donald trump today. he is used to street corner demonstrations but today his own workers will be outside trump worker demanding a contract. employees at trump international hotel las vegas voted to unionize but so far trump's company is refusing to recognize that election and won't negotiate a contract. 5:06 is our time and 6 news papers across new jersey are calling on governor chris christie to step down as the governor of the state following his endorsement of donald trump. the papers are red up with christie's arrogance, and hip chrissy.

. it is 5:11 and 4 people will go before a judge today in connection with the murder of a major league baseball prospect in westchester county. three of the men are facing assault and weapons charges while the 4th is accused of murdering 23-year-old mike nolan. he was shot in a burger king parking lot in younkers. he was drafted by the oakland a's in the 2014 draft. hunter fired a shot that killed nolan in retaliation for a fight following a drag race. time now is 5:12. the mother of a first grader killed by a hit-and-run driver says the pain of that moment will never end. yemi correa sat down with channel seven after she and her 7-year-old were killed.

eyewitness news hopes fabian rodriguez pays for the crime. the family portrayed him as a family man who cooperated with the police. >> he is heartbroken by this entire occurrence. he has his own son, also seven years old. fabian junior. he has a wife, a sister. >> rodriguez's wife joanna tried to cover up the crime. the texas state trooper accused in the death of sanda ra bland is officially charge -- sandra bland is officially fired. he was indicted on perjury and accused of lying about the arrest of bland last june. he was found dead in her jail cell after dash cam video showed a confrontational video. the 28-year-old's death was ruled a suicide but her family is suing the department of public safety and local authorities.

convicted mexican "el chapo" guzman wants to accelerate the extradition process to america. guards won't let him sleep. the attorney repeated his client is willing to plead guilty in exchange for a short sentence in a medium security prison in the united states. guzman faces charges in seven u.s. jurisdictions including new york, chicago, miami and san diego. a museum in las vegas is giving visitors a chance to see how "el chapo" escaped from a mexican federal prison.

only one went off. let me show you the video of the car after the explosio 7:00 last night. two people were in the car. a 24-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman who was in the passenger seat. police say that with an a rental car. they are trying to determine exactly when the car was rigged with this explosive device but they say when it got to the intersection of mahan and robert's avenue, the device exploded causing a flat tire and air bags to deploy. >> it was a really loud, a trump. it wasn't, like, kind of like a gunshot or something but sort of deeper. >> so, the two passengers in the car were not hurt in this incident. federal officials did come here to investigate. they quickly ruled out terrorism but police are trying to determine if the driver of the car was the intended target. reporting live in the pelham bay section of the bronx. channel seven, eyewitness news.

after stabbing inside of a bronx subway station. police release these photographs of the suspects overnight. the attack happened two weeks ago. police say these men got into an argument with another man on the northbound 2 and 5 platform at the east 149 street and 3rd avenue subway station. police say one of the men stabbed the victim in the stomach with a sharp object. the victim was treated at the hospital. it is 5:34. happening today, charges will be formally dismissed against five teens accused of a gang rape in a brooklyn park. detectives initially said the teens approached an 18-year-old woman and her father, threatenthe father with a gun, then raped the daughter. prosecutors now say any sex with the teens may have been consensual. they also say the father was the one having sex with his daughter when the incident began. it is 5:34. new jersey transit will outline

in case of a potential strike. mallory huff is live. >> this could potentially create a headache and a bit of a travel mess. more than 100,000 commuters use new jersey transit trains every single day. many passed through this hoboken terminal. a con contingencisy plan is being laid out. look at the riders refusing the trains. new jersey transit representatives and the unions are scheduled to meet with the national mediation board in washington dc tomorrow if an agreement is not reached, unions have authorized a strike. it would start on march 13th at 12:01:00 a.m.. that is march 13th at 12:01:00 a.m.. the new jersey transit should adopt the recommendations made by a federal panel earlier this year, those recommendations called for a wage increase of about 2.6% a year for six and a half years. now, a strike plan for riders will be put in motion should a strike take place. additional park and ride bus lots would be set-up.
