we are starting the day off at 45 degrees, not far off the average high temperature, but 42 for kingston, and 41 around newburg to norwalk, and normal lows around 45. we have a raw, damp feel. the last of the showers around gardner's island and towards shelter island that will get out of the way this morning. cloudy skies, and breaks of sunshine coming, and a break up to 61 in the area, and we will talk about that with the accu forecast, and heather is looking at the commute this morning. we have b, d, m, and f trains with track repairs and service changes will last until 5:00 a.m. metro north running on or close to schedule. george washington bridge outbound lower level, you'll

the holland tunnel also has construction. fdr drive traveling on the southbound side, construction from the 100s down into the 910s. we have alternate side street parking rules in effect for today. >> heather, thank you. it's 4:32, and we are following breaking news on long island. police are investigating a double shooting and home invasion inside a home in freeport. darla miles is live with details. good morning, darla. >> reporter: good morning, lori. it's very early in the investigation with the two men shot just about 3 hours ago. i want to give you a closer look at what is happening here. detectives going in and out this morning, cars going back and forth, and you can see a large crime scene where not only the home is blocked off with yellow tape, but across the street and several doors down, and police believe at this point it was a home invasion.

of suspects went inside the home at casino street and freeport and shot two people inside. we have seen detectives speaking to two people who may have been witnesses or family members of the victims, and they may have been inside of the home at the time, and we have seen detectives in the backyard with their flashlights. at this point they are trying to determine if the home invasion was targeted or not. at this point the two victims were taken to south nassau community hospital, and their injuries are said to be nonlife threatening. darla miles, channel 7 eyewitness news. it's 4:43, and it's a make or break day for some presidential candidates, and others could seal their place in the white house. ohio, florida, missouri, illinois, and north carolina are all voting.

>> reporter: ken this could be a crucial day, especially for republicans. some candidates are trying to gain momentum, and others are trying to stay afloat. donald trump's lead is over marco rubio in florida who pleaded last night for the cuban americans to rally behind him. hillary clinton is warning democrats to unify around her to defeat trump in november. she's almost 20 points over sanders in some states but they have neck and neck in illinois, ohio, and missouri. >> it looks like to me missouri is ready for a political revolution. donald trump use and airport

mayor de blasio will travel to the capital today hoping to get help with planned cuts. the federal government will pull funding for funding that helps cities recover. >> time now, 4:36, and the former martial arts instructor is being held on charges he abused students. management says he was let go for stealing. a few days after he was let go, two 12-year-olds and two 14- year-olds made the allegations, and the manager says the arrest is a surprise. >> very surprised. he was very respectful, like really surprised. i can't believe this. no one believes this because he was very respectful to

role model. >> prosecutors said ramos offered them money and allegedly told one girl she shouldn't say anything because they would both be killed. public schools in poughkeepsie are closed to allow students of attend the funeral of a popular athlete. kavel halette was shot on his way home from a basketball game. so far no arrests have been made. crews located the body of a third victim in the tugboat accident in westchester county. two of the bodies were recovered over the weekend. the third body was discovered yesterday in the sunken vessel, but the body will not be recovered until the boat can be raised.

it's 4:44. nassau county police need your help catching whoever is shooting out car windows with a bb gun. this video shows one of the incidents. 17 cars in all were hit from sunday to yesterday in the towns of east meadow, leavitt town and, montauk. it's believed that is a chevrolet suv, and it it could have been used to shoot out the windows of the other cars. 4:44, and now some people in hoboken are under a boil water advisory after a broken mange caused a sink hole that swallowed up a car. the 12-inch pipe ruptured before dawn on 1st street. the street swallowed a nissan maxima when the street gave away.

the flood waters are receding in louisiana, but the pearl river is rising. some perishes spent the night under curfew after getting 14 inches of rain. the flood waters are expected to crest later this morning. it's 4:45. let's check in with meteorologist bill evans. >> looking at the camera, and on the roof, midtown, see down here to 5th avenue, 59th street right there, and we are looking at low clouds, fog, drizzle, and a shower this morning. we get going, and here's the camera in astoria, and here's the 59th street bridge, and that would be one world trade there, and we have low clouds, fog, and it's damp, and still have the chilly fill this morning where the winds continue to be out of the east, northeast, and that's gusting to 22 miles an hour.

feels like the 30s with the northeast wind, and yesterday's high, 51, and that's warmer than normal for this time of the year. the 51 we hit was yesterday morning at this time. .2 of an inch of rain in the park, and we may see a decent sunset at 7:03. toms river, you're at 44. good morning. ricetown, 45, and we are looking at 42 up to the north. with clouds and fog, the temperatures are uniform around the 29 counties of the tri- state, and we are looking at 21 with the wind gusts around flushing. that's sustained winds. and 18-mile an hour winds at bring port, and you can see the profile swirling around the low. it's pulling down the wind down to the shore. here's the overnight. 32 at laguardia and newark, and 30 around the park. it's been quite windy, and we will see it slowly dying down

will be a dryer wind as our low leaves and heads to the atlantic. you can't rule out the sprinkles coming around with the little area of rain to the south. today, as the low leaves it will pull up warm air, and we will get into the afternoon, and you can see noontime, into the low 50s, up up and -- upper 50s, and similarly western areas of new jersey, some of those spots get to 61, and then tomorrow, we will start off the day close to 50 degrees. 43-45, and by the afternoon, we will get to 60 degrees tomorrow, and a nice day on end and thursday. -- on end of thursday. i will give the day a c. it ends up being average.

scene. >> reporter: good morning again, lori, what investigators are trying to determine is if this was a random home invasion or if it was targeted. i want you to see how large this is. this is the home in question and you can zoo where the crime scene expands across the street and several homes over. we know at this point, 1:00 this morning, on casino street here in freeport, one or more suspects made their way into the home and shot two of the men inside, and i have seen detectives talking to two people. we know the victims were taken to south nassau communities hospital with nonlife threatening injuries. i have seen flash flights behind the home, leadingtous believe the investigators are also conducting a search of the perimeter at the back of the

no word on the shooter or who police are looking for. darla miles, channel 7 eyewitness news. >> thank you very much, and the red cross is assisting four families forced out of their homes by a deadly fire in orange, new jersey. three members of the same family were killed including two children and their father. the boys' mother is in the icu with serious burns, and the fire does not appear suspicious. some question the response time, but fire crews were on the scene just minutes after the call. supporters of a teenager whose savage beating by another student was caught on camera will protest today. oscar parascillo was assaulted by a wrestling team member angry over a girl. he fractured his nose and lost a tooth.

5:12. welcome back. developing right now. three police officers are in the hospital after a shootout with a drug suspect, and this happened last night in chicago. those officers were chasing the suspect when he opened fire. all three officers were wounded, but they are expected to be okay. one officer did return fire, killing the alleged shooter, and a second suspect has not been caught, and a third person is being questioned. a lawsuit stemming from the racially charged police shooting death from a pace university football player has been settled. the family of d.j. henry has accepted a $6 million offer from the village of pleasantville and the a officer who shot henry in 2010. henry, who was black, drove away from a disturbance at a bar, and officer hess who was

a shooter is on the run this morning after an apparent home invasion on long island. two people are in the hospital right now, and darla miles is live on the scene with details from police. darla? >> reporter: ken, we have now learned that one man was so the shot during this early morning incident. police are now calling it a robbery attempt. you can still see the police inside of the home, and around 1:00 this morning, an unknown number of suspects came into the house on casino street. during the robbery attempt, one man was shot and another was hurt. it's not clear if the suspects made off with any goods or cash it appears as if family members are inside of the home at this point, and the two victims were taken to south nassau communities hospital, and their
