call, a big gust knocked over a giant concrete sign at a chipotle in nora indiana. it fell on to a car as the driver was getting out. the sign demolished the car but the driver was only slightly hurt. it happened right after he opened the door to step outside. >> perfect timing on his part. >> oh, boy. >> so now with those winds would have been part of this system or separate? >> yes, they were the same thing, same exact thing, they whipped on through here last night into this morning and now they're finally beginning to calm down. now all eyes are turning toward a potentially messy monday morning commute if you're coming in from areas north of new york city. we're taking a look right now out toward the reservoir in central park where the wind is still gusting up to 30 miles per hour, at times sustained at 22. nothing like the nearly 60 miles per hour wind gusts that were affecting the area earlier and causing power outages and the downed trees and power lines. temperature right now 40. it feels a whole lot colder than that. the high was 50. that's a little misleading. that was just after midnight

high this time of the year. 56. the record was 81. that was set back in 1981. next seven hours look at the wind, really calming down. it's almost calm by midnight with temperatures tailing off into the upper 30s. you're already down to freezing at newburgh. you're down into the upper 20s in monticello. these areas north of the city will get down into the 20s overnight tonight, and that means as this system moves on in it will at least start as snow in areas north and west of new york city. so we'll track it for you here on the futurecast and check out the temperatures at the same time. you see by midnight tonight, so between now and midnight, no precipitation falling in the viewing area. snow just approaching extreme western parts of sullivan county, pike county, pennsylvania. look at temperatures at or below freezing in areas north of the city. as this moves in during the predawn hours, it will come in as snowfall, areas north of new york city. by dawn, by just after 6 a.m. we're about 40 degrees in the city.

is just rain. it might begin as a couple of wet snowflakes. it quickly goes over to rain. north it's a different story. only 31 at newburgh, 32 at poughkeepsie. there should be snow covered roads. that snow rain line gradually works off to the north by 10 a.m. we get a little bit of a break in the precipitation. temperatures rise into the low 50s by game time at yankee stadium. for first pitch probably temperatures in the low 50s. if we're lucky we get a little bit of a break from the rain. more rain comes in unfortunately during the afternoon. that could end as a couple of brief flakes of snow by tomorrow evening. here's the snowfall forecast. before it changes over to rain, we're looking at a coating to aen inch of snow north of new york city. it's more like 1 to 3 inches right along this i-84 corridor including orange county, putnam counties and where we have a winter weather advisory, dutchess county, ulster and sullivan. 3 to 6 inches of snow, i can't
