172 delegates at stake. he's been campaigning all weekend. mary bruce has been there every step. mary, good morning to you. we keep hearing about two trumps and a presidential side set to emerge. any signs of that happening? >> reporter: hi, good morning. well, paula, if you thought you would be seeing that new donald trump sometime soon, eh, think again. despite what his campaign might say, donald trump is still acting like donald trump. >> if i acted presidential, i guarantee you that this morning, i wouldn't be here. >> reporter: this morning, donald trump is not changing his tune. >> cruz, you know, with the rhetoric. i will -- i will that. to people -- >> reporter: even though his campaign told republican officials trump would take things down a notch, the front-runner doesn't seem to be on board. >> i think i have a presidential look, don't i? don't i? [ cheers and applause ] i think i have a great presidential look. thank you, ladies and gentlemen. thank you very much. i sort of don't like toning it down.
>> reporter: his campaign has suggested trump is merely playing a part. but he says, of course, there are two trumps. different than in a private room. we all are, right? >> reporter: ted cruz says it's all a farce. >> donald trump is the master illusionist. he's the harry houdini, engaged in an act of misdirection. trump is a phony. >> reporter: and he's slamming trump for opposing north carolina's controversial new transgender bathroom law. >> even if donald trump dresses up as hillary clinton, he shouldn't be using the girls' restroom. it's going to haunt you at night as you sleep. donald in a bright blue pantsuit. >> reporter: despite the new attacks from ted cruz, it looks like donald trump is poised for more big wins in those five key contests coming up on tuesday. dan? >> good to see we're keeping the level of discourse at a high

is this tempting fate, or does she have this locked up? >> they don't like the reports. they prefer it not to be in public right now. it's only prudent to be doing that kind of planning. if you look at delegates, and david wright talked about it in his piece right there. today, she's 80% of the way to have the delegates she needs. after tuesday, if the polls are correct, she'll be above 90%. the math is working against bernie sanders right now. she should be planning. measuring the drapes in the oval office or picking running mates in public. >> it's all about the optics. this idea emerging that there are two trumps is coming from within his own campaign. ted cruz pouncing. hillary clinton pouncing. >> you heard trump pouncing on it as well. >> does it help him or hurt him? >> paul manafort was trying to republican national committee that donald trump will not be campaigns in the fall if he does, indeed, get the nomination.
well. because at the same time, because people believe what he says and says what he means. if there is a suggestion that this is an act, it does hurt him a little bit in the short run. >> both ted cruz and hillary jumping all over it. let me ask you, know, before we let you go, about this exclusive jon karl conducted with charles a very powerful republican donor and thinker. let's take a look at the clip. >> am i hearing you correctly, you think bill clinton was a better president than george w. bush? >> well, in some ways. in other ways, he wasn't an exemplar. >> yeah. >> but -- but as far as the growth of government, the increase in spending, it was 2 1/2 times under bush than it was under clinton. >> is it possible that another clinton could be better than another republican this time around? >> it's possible. it's possible. >> you couldn't see yourself
could you? >> well -- her -- we would have to believe her actions would be quite different than her rhetoric, let me put it that way. >> wow. >> not ruling it out. >> charles koch. david koch. billionaires, have bankrolled so many republican and conservative causes over the years. saying they're sitting out. saying he would consider voting for hillary clinton. that shows the pressure that the rnc is under right now. that's why people like paul manafort has to go to the republican party and say, donald trump can tone it down. we're going to be asking reince priebus about that this morning. that's a huge development for the kochs to sit out this election. >> is it unprecedented? >> it's shocking to me. >> shocking to george. that's a high bar. george, thank you. we appreciate it. i want to remind everybody again. george has a big show this morning. much more of the newsmaking,
