yesterday evening. rico- at 3:35 pm police responded to the 2300 block of wildwood rd. in reference to checking the welfare of an individual. discovered a deceased body. further to nearby residence located at the washington & wintergreen. officers negotiated with an armed subject for several hours. when officers made entry into the residence, five additional deceased bodies were located to include the suspect. all six of the deceased were related. it is believed the suspect killed family members prior to arrival. the investigation is

now to new information about oregon protesters. overnight authorities arrested three more people occupying a federal wildlife refuge. that is in addition to tuesday. tomorrow the group's leader ammon bundy, and six others have a detention hearing schedule to determine if they can leave a portland jail. they appeared in court yesterday to hear the formal charges against

outside the courthouse, bundy's lawyer read a statement on his behalf about the other protesters who are still refuge. 1:32 - 1:51 mike arnold / attorney for ammon bundy "i'm asking the federal government to allow the people at the refuge to this fight from here. stand down... please stand down." federal agents are sitting around the refuge monitoring the remaining group members. they began their occupation on january 2nd to protest federal land policies. today there are new developments scheduled in the public corruption case against norfolk city treasurer anthony burfoot. attorneys are expected to meet with a judge later this morning to discuss the progress of the case. burfoot pleaded not charges. federal prosecutors say he was part of a scheme to defraud the city. he's currently out on bond. his trial is

looking ahead, next week some chesapeake residents have a chance to learn more about potentially contaminated water in their neighborhood. the navy is hosting a meeting tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at butts road intermediate school. the comes after tests found high levels of dangerous chemicals in water near naval auxiliary landing field fentress. they navy then started providing its employees there with bottled water. we first reported this last week. some residents are upset tha they first heard it from the media. it's debate night, but donald trump says he'd rather be raising money for veterans. ahead you'll hear the not-so-welcome comment one veteran group had for him. plus, only on 10, you'll hear from an investigator trying to find a man who has been missing for months. he really wants the

roanoke reports, she was last seen at her family's apartment wednesday at midnight. police issued an endangered child alert because nichole needs daily medication after having a liver transplant. her family says she has a scar on throat and may be carrying a blue and yellow "minions" blanket. they also believe she got out through her window with someone's help. right now police are not sure if she ran away or foul play is involved. she just really needs that medication. if you see her please call the blacksburg police department at 540-961-1150 back here in hampton roads, it's been nearly 30-year-old man disappeared from suffolk. police have exhausted all leads, but they are still no closer to finding quantez russell. someone last seen at his home on forest street in the lead investigator tells us officers found his vehicle that night at a gas station in newport news. only 10 on your side spoke with detective

the case. he says he believes someone moved russell's vehicle to that location, and that russell was never there himself. now police are hoping the public will come forward with new leads. sot -- detective william shockley - suffolk police dept. c1 2:40:28 - the chances of him not making any contact with any of his family members and not making contact with his son and things like that is very low. so that's why there's a sense of urgency in reference to try to locate him and trying to see what happened. :41 shockley said russell spent a lot of time in downtown hampton and newport news. he's asking anyone with information to call the crimeline and report a tip, no matter how small. happening today, the republicans presidential candidates square off in another debate hosted by fox news. the eight candidates leading in the polls in iowa will take the stage. that group includes rand paul because of how he's doing in iowa. he was left out of the last prime time debate tonight's debate because

issues with fox news and moderator megyn kelly. instead of the debate, trump says he will raise money for veterans tonight. however one group says it doesn't want it. the founder of "iraq and afghanistan veterans of america" tweeted this message saying if offered money, the group would decline donations. he also said the group didn't want to be used for policitcal stunts. local business owners sent congressman randy forbes a letter encouraging him to run for a scott rigell's district. forbes currently represents the fourth district. he's considering running for rigell's district after recent redistricting. rigell says he is retiring at the end of his term, and is supporting forbes as his successor. chesterfield native, john adams says he will run for virginia attorney general in 20-17. the republican hopeful graduated from the virginia military institute, served in the navy, and currently works at a lobbying firm. he also worked under president george w. bush. we're learning more about a portsmouth mother

her son's assistant 43-year-old tracy lawrence is out of jail on bond this morning. she appeared in court yesterday, and faces assault, battery, and disorderly conduct charges. according to court documents, lawrence went to lakeview elementary school to speak with assistant principal syliva hodges-melvin about her son being disruptive in class. the documents say lawrence got upset, yelled "how would you feel if i mushed your head?", and then slapped the adminstrator so hard across her face she was briefly knocked out. an officer later arrested lawrence at her home. as part of her bond she must stay away from all portsmouth schools. a grand jury indicted the wife of an illinois police officer who allegedly staged his own death. investigators believe melodie gliniewicz, the late wife of joseph gliniewicz, laundered and used charitable money for her own personal benefit. they believe she took it from the charitable website her husband managed. it's just the latest in what started as an investigation into her

television. it was meant to mark a milestone in spaceflight, but is now remembered as a national tragedy. on this day back in 19-86, seven astronauts died when the rocket blew up shortly after taking off from cape canaveral, florida. investigators deteremined cold overnight temperatures caused part of the shuttle to malfunction. a york county family is trying to move on after a fire destroyed their mobile home this week. the community is really stepping in, and helping the family after this big loss. this is all that is left of their mobile home after a fire ripped through it monday off route 17. it started after paper caught fire on a space heater. the fire department says bystanders found one victim in her bedroom, and actually pulled off the side of the home to get to her. she's now recovering in the hospital. the woman's sister and 5 children also made it out safely. since the fire, organizers set up ways to help the family.

the coast guard says the locally based cutter northland will sail home today. the portsmouth-based cutter has been on a two month patrol of the eastern pacific. it's mission was to counter drug trafficking over the holidays. these are pictures of the crew seizing part of the 75-hundred kilos of drugs it took during it's two month mission. today virginia beach will offer support and resources to hundreds of families without a home. the city will hold it's annual project homeless connect. it's to help those with out a home move closer to finding one.

victim. we're back with stories about three teachers accused in separate sex crimes. first up a school administrator in norfolk is behind bars. police say 64-year-old gary jordan. who is the assistant principal at madison alternative center, made inappropriate comments to a child. it allegedly happened on january 14th, on bowden's ferry road - the same block where the school is located. police have not confirmed whether the incident happened on school property - or whether the victim is a student. still, parents in the district are disturbed. c53 pamela outsey - can we trust our kids to, you understand?"

send your kids to school, you're trusting the people that holds the office in the position to do what's right." a spokeswoman with the school district said that jordan has been placed on administrative leave. he is currently in norfolk city jail without bond. a former teacher in hampton faces sex crime charges.. police say 25-year-old samantha quinn was involved with a 16-year-old hampton high school student last spring. officers tell us the boy discussed two incidents with another faculty member in november. the school system put quinn on leave, but they say she resigned less than a month later. ((c37 49:43)) "we put our trust and faith in the mentors and teachers to acutally teach and guide these students, who are in fact juveniles. court documents reveal, the day after the school reprimanded quinn, she messaged the now 17-year-old victim and said "was it you?" -- referring to whoever contacted police. we expect a middle school teacher from perquimans county to be in court today for

walker for sex crimes which did not involve students. court documents reveal a man told deputies he agreed to do landscaping at walker's house in elizabeth city. instead -- he says walker forced him into sexual acts. deputies arrested him that night, and school officials alerted parents the next day. they do not believe he has done anything with students. a fire forced a family of four in virginia beach to find a new place to stay. this is new video from the scene on sedgemoor road. that's near wesleyan drive and diamond springs road. firefighters tell us medics treated an adult on the scene for minor injuries. they also said the home has signifcant damage. we're working to learn what caused the fire. now to developing news about the water crisis in flint, michigan. governor rick snyder says officials found about two-hundred children with elevated lead levels in their blood. this happened after the state switched the area's water to save money. the mayor says

have to pay for water they can not use. show guy with glasses the mayor also hired this guy. marc edwards is a professor at virginia tech whose testing helped expose the toxic water problem. the mayor put edwards in charge of overseeing all water testing being done. people are still cleaning up snow from this past weekend's winter weather. in washington, d.c. the federal government is on another three hour delay. many schools in the area are also closed, some for the rest of the week! governor terry mcauliffe spoke with our affliate station in washington about how the clean up cost is starting :12 "it's going to cost us a lot of money. this could be north of 175 million and top 200 million which would be an historic storm for us and would be the most expensive we've ever had, but cost is not the issue." the governor said virginia hired extra contractors to get the job done. the american red cross says there is an

heads up for parents this morning about a deadly concoction students are drinking. so far health officials in tennessee say two teens died after drinking what they call "dew shine." (sot: donna seger / tn poison center medical director) "it's a mixture of mountain dew and then methanol in racing fuel.
