story that will have you looking differently. first, breaking news right now on the peninsula. that's where newport news police are investigating a third meth lab this week. rico bush is live near the scene on sidney place, just off jefferson avenue and main street. rico police say this is connected to previous busts this week. what are they saying suspects? newport news, va. (wavy) - newport news police say they busted another meth main street. 10 on your side got video of crews working inside and outside the home while wearing hazmat suits. 10 on your side's rico bush is on the scene. he says police told him, they have a male suspect they plan to charge. this is the third meth lab bust in newport news in less than a week.

on middlesex road and another tuesday, also on middlesex road. officers arrested three people in those incidents. hampton police say wedneday's hazmat situation on cynthia drive is related to the meth investigations in newport news. officers say they found items consistent with making meth. they say they also found an unknown substance. detectives are still waiting for test results to see what that

happening today, a mother officer-involved shooting last year in virginia beach. "i wont stop fighting for india. i wont stop fighting for mr perry because he did not have due process of law." that was 28-year-old back in september, her daughter died after getting caught in the crossfires of a shootout between officers and her boyfriend, 35-year-old angelo perry. both died at the scene. their infant son was in the backseat of their car during the shootout, but was not hurt. later this morning at a church in virginia beach, kager's mother will demand answers about what happened. after police investigated the shooting and those involved, they connected kagan's boyfriend, angelo perry to several crimes, including the

posted the emotional video describing her loss, cuffee's daughter posted one of her own defending the police department's actions. she says the shooting was justified. kagan's mother's protest is expected to start later this morning at 9:00. 10 on your side plans to be there, and will have an update later today. senator mark warner will be in hampton today to talk about cyber security. he will meet with local experts in the field and talk about how our area can become a national leader in cyber technology. part of his visit includes a tour of zel technologies in hampton. also happening today, the public viewing of justice antonin scalia in the great hall of the supreme court building. there will be a private public can attend the viewing. the last time a justice received this honor was in 2005 for justice willliam rehnquist. as part of the tradition, a black drape will hang over the courtroom doors, justice scalia's chair on the bench, and the bench itself. his funeral is schedule

burnt bean and low and behold it was a snake head" "that was my biggest concern was that someone would get the body or something" "western family" says it is now trying to trace back the green beans through its wholesale locations to figure out where that specific shipment went. developing this morning in baltimore, the trials of five police officers accused in the death of freddie gray are on hold. that's because maryland's high court will hear appeals in those officers' cases next month. the court will also decide if william porter, a sixth officer charged in the case, will be forced to testify against the other officers. his case ended in a mistrial, and he's waiting to be re-tried. this all comes of freddie gray died last april while in poice custody. the so called affluenza teen is scheduled to be in court today. a judge will decide if the case against 18- year-old ethan couch will be moved to an adult court. two weeks ago officials moved couch from a juvenile facility to an adult

doesn't mean his case will be moved to an adult court. he's accused of violating his probation and then running off to mexico with his mother. if he's found guilty of that, he could go to prison. he got probation after pleading guilty to a deadly crash when he was 16. he lawyer argued he was too rich to know the consequences of his actions. norfolk police say a serial burglar is at it again. investigators say he's now responsible for three more burglaries, bring the grand total to eight. take a good look at this man. officers say he's hit several local restaurants, including the golden china on east little creek road on valentine's day. they also say last month, he broke into united refrigeration on progress road, and golden city on azalea garden road. this is video of when he attempted to break-in at ole bay seafood. if you recognize the man in this video, call the crime line at 1-888-lock-u-up. the hampton roads area is a hotbed for human trafficking.

investigated it before, and how people in the community are trying to stop it. now newport news police is teaming up with survivors to help share their stories about a crime often hidden in plain sight. the newport news department of human services held a forum last night. survivor tanay street discussed how "pimps" manipulate victims into the crime by preying on the young and vulnerable. street says nearly 20 years ago, it was her then boyfriend who lured her into trafficking. police in hampton roads say they often see it online, in brothels, motels, and massage parlors. now investigators are pooling their resources to crack down on it. "we're bringing on non profits and advocates and service providers to try to help these ladies get out of this situation and better themselves." tanya street "today, law enforcement are becoming more aware, being trained on what human trafficking, looks like, understanding it, understanding the trauma

street says it was a police officer who rescued her from human trafficking. however officers today say the biggest challenge is getting victims to trust them. a bizarre twist in the case against a suspected dog thief on the eastern shore! the commonwealth's attorney says the dog's owner came to court, but left the courtroom before testifying. bettina rodriguez faces charges for the theft. accomack county deputies say she and two others took the dog from a yard near parksley last year. because the dog owner left, the judge pushed the cash back until next month. 2 supers 04=2:32 "i've been doing this 30 years and this is the first time that this situation has occurred" 04=2:40 "it's been 13 months now and i just feel like my life has been in limbo i was ready for some closure today" rodriguez says she hopes he shows up next month, so this case can wrap up. charlene boyajian and gordon shell also face charges. we expect boyajian's trial to start in march, and shell's to start in may. we're learning more about

of a three-year-old in suffolk. police say-- the child's mother could face charges. the shooting happened on jonathans way in the applewood farms neighborhood wednesday night. paramedics airlifted the boy to c-h-k-d in norfolk. a preliminary investigation shows-- he found his parents' handgun, and shot himself in the shoulder. editor: all video in "p6 suff jonathans way" super = christina carter/neighbor ((c1 55:22)) "it's so sad, it really is sad." i would hate for something like that to family kept the gun-- or where the boy found it. the suffolk sheriff's office says all residents qualify for free gun safety locks. new this morning, scary moments in texas when an s-u-v slammed into a grocery store. here's a look at the aftermath. police say a man behind the wheel drove right through the front door yesterday evening. the s-u-v ran over a woman inside. she and the driver went to the hospital, but fortunately they were not seriously hurt. police are still trying to figure out how this happened. now to a follow-up about an california apartment building literally teetering on the edge of a cliff. crews started tearing it down yesterday. it sits on top of an 80-foot bluff. erosion is slowly crumbling the cliff away,

we have new information about a late night accident on the eastern shore. troopers say 19-year-old austin rainey from chapel hill, north carolina, died after three vehicles crashed in accomack county. it happened last night on route 13 northbound near daugherty road. state police say a woman driving a pick- up truck turned into a van rainey was riding in. a tractor-trailer then slammed into the van. police charged the pick-up truck driver, linda stevens, with failing to yield the right of way.

salesman is expected back in court for sentencing. 10 on your side has followed many victim's cases against edward prince in several local cities. this morning he's expected to go before a judge in chesapeake. prince pleaded guilty to taking money for headstones but never delivering to grieving families. so far he's been convicted of fraud in four different local cities. new this morning, taxpayers in virginia are picking up the bill for guests in a redskins suite. the bill came to $2,435 dollars for food and drinks in a luxury box. it happened during a playoff game from last month. the richmond times-dispatch reports four of the 15 people in the box worked for businesses considering expanding operations in virginia. that came out to more than $150 dollars per person. a spokesman for governor terry mcaullife said officials pre-ordered the food and drinks and expected a bigger crowd of business prosects.

five days after a fire destroyed several buildings, firefighters in norfolk are still trying to find out a cause in ocean view. fire investigators sent us these pictures of taylor, an arson dog from hampton. taylor and her handler are going through the rubble on west ocean view avenue. saturday, a fire burned through eight apartment others. heads up if you recieved a drone over the holidays. today is the deadline most owners must register with the f-a-a experts estimate retailers sold about a million drones, but only 300-thousand people registered their aircraft. signing up is a simple process. users pay $5 dollars online for a three- year registration with the f-a-a. after today, you could face serious consequences if you are caught flying an unregistered drone. (sot: roger cheng, cnet executive editor 1:09-1:20) "there are some penalties civil up to 27 thousand dollars and criminal fine of up to 250 thousand dollars, including imprisonment. so, there are some repercussions if you don't register that drone."

even small drones can cause a problem. they hope by having users sign up and learn the rules, it will help reduce collisions with other aircrafts, property damange, and people. developing this morning, it's goign to be harder for us to tell you more about the death of a virginia teen. a judge in blacksburg sealed search warrants in 13-year-old nicole lovell's murder. two virginia tech students face charges in her death. police say they are still investigating the stabbing that killed lovell. the search warrants could contain key details of the prosecution's evidence against david eisenhauer and natalie keepers. eisenhauer faces abuduction and murder charges. police charged keepers with accessory before and after the fact and illegally dumping nicole's body just across the state line in north carolina.
