traffic now. decision 20-16 - coming off the south carolina primary over the weekend, vermont senator and democratic hopeful bernie sanders is looking ahead to super tuesday. 1-hundred-10 delegates are up for grabs in virginia. later this morning, sanders is scheduled to hold a rally at the scope in norfolk. he hopes to strengthen his support in the commonwealth and stay competitive against democratic front-runner hillary clinton. rico bush is live outside scope where sanders will

he has more on where both democractic candidates stand in the polls in virginia. rico. don, katie, according to a christopher newport university poll, sanders trails clinton here in the commonwealth by double digits. it shows the former first lady with the upper-hand. but anything can happen before tuesday, and as the race draws closer, we may see him become a serious threat. despite the twelve percent lead in virginia for clinton, sanders is still taking his message to the people in hampton roads. his campaign tells 10 on your side sanders will talk this morning, including college affordability, racial injustice, and ecomonic prosperity. at today's event, the u-s senator is looking to set himself apart from his democratic challenger. we expect him to hit clinton on several issues, like wall street donations and super pac funderaising - a message his has echoed several times in debates and in his

"left their kitchens" to help him get elected, and by the time he got to richmond, there were already people protesting the line. women who left their kitchens to out and go door to door and to put yard signs up for me, all the way back when you know, things were different. now you call homes and everybody's out working. but in that time, in the early days, it was really an army of women who helped me get elected" the ohio governor finished 5th behind jeb bush in the south carolina primary. even though bush dropped out shortly after the primary, kasich told supporters yesterday he has no plans to leave the race. keep this in mind as we get closer to the march 1st primary. virginia beach public schools will be on a two-hour-delay for all students that day. the city says it expects a big turnout on super tuesday, and many schools also

know the candidates. a c-n-n reporter did a round of political trivia with people at a diner in las vegas, and some had a lot of trouble naming, or even recognizing candidates. "that's the one and only, mr. trump." "who's this?" " i don't know him. that looks like elliot spitzer." (laughter) several people also had trouble recognizing republican candidate john kasich. he was the most unknown of the bunch. even young people had problems identifying the candidates. "who's this?" "uhh, mmm... marco rubio?" "nope" "teddy cruz" "teddy cruz" "um, i'm not sure about that guy. he's not currently running right?" several people also couldn't remember which candidates were in which party, and who was still in the

sanders and jeb bush confused. 10 on your side is investigating how absentee ballots were sent to some voters in hampton already filled out. election officials say the printer sent out test ballots and official ballots in the same box - and didn't separately label them. because of that, the coordinator accidentally sent 17 voters the wrong ones. however, officials say it won't impact the election. sot - william lewis, whenever you have human beings you're going to have human error. this is a very small number of ballots that went out in error and we're doing everything we can do to correct it. election officials say they identified the voters who received those incorrect ballots, and are working to get them the correct ones. today is actually the deadline to request an absentee ballot. virginia beach mayor will sessoms announced yesterday he's running for a third term . that is despite the fact

contest last year in a conflict of interest investigation. 10 on your side caught up with the mayor to ask him about it. he says he will explain what happened as often as people have questions about it. editor: assist/6p vb mayor sessoms/c9 ;31;58 - ;32;09 "the first thing is i want to say is im sorry for making a technical mistake which i did but i will also remind everyone it was clear as day there was no personal gain for me or my former employer" sessoms says he is already rallying supporters for his next run, and will work hard to win the election. today a 35-year-old man is expected to learn his fate for raping a child. michael mccann will likely spend the rest of his life behind bars. that sentence is actually mandatory based on the charge and the age of the victim. investigators say mccann paid the child with money and lottery tickets to keep the interaction a secret. police say two people are locked up following the robbery, sexual assault, and abduction of a woman in virginia beach.

year old ronnie anderson. we can't show you a picture of the other suspect because he's underage. officers say the victim was about to get out of her car at the wingate hotel on burton station road early sunday morning when anderson demanded something she had at knifepoint. police say the juvenile had a knife too -- and took her purse. when that didn't turn up anything valuable, police say anderson sexually assaulted her. officers say the suspects then forced the woman to drive to an a-t-m at a 7-eleven on northampton boulevard, where she escaped. using k-9s, police say they later found the suspects at the econo lodge off northampton boulevard and arrested them. staying in virginia beach - police are investigating car break-ins at two oceanfront hotel garages. officers say people reported it saturday in the hilton and sheraton garages on atlantic avenue. we spoke with a valet at the sheraton who says there were more than 20 cars with windows smashed. he said it was really tough news to tell customers. c0001 cody batten/sheraton valet 10;02;42 "when i had to bring someone's car

i was about to explain it to them i didn't even want them to see their car right away. i had to warm them up to it. i park in there too. it doesn't feel safe. it happens everywhere you can't control it." the valet says the sheraton has surveillance video of the suspect, but police have not released a description. the death toll from a cyclone in fiji is now up to at least 29 people. take a look at this drone footage that flew over some of the damage. a government spokesman said part of the island is "pretty much flattened". he also said there were very few buildings left on the island. the cyclone tore through the country over the weekend with winds topping 177 miles per hour at times. it's the strongest storm in fiji's recorded history. on a much smaller scale, a historic swell hit the shores of hawaii yesterday. the waves got so high it washed up onto roads.

happening today, a major milestone for the new bonner bridge on the outer banks. crews will start preparing the site for constructing a brand new span. it's a story 10 on your side has covered for years. the constant battle between environmentalists and residents to build a new bridge connecting hatteras island with the rest of the outer banks. weather permitting, crews will start preparing the south-side of the bridge. part of the parking lot on pea island will become a staging area for construction equipment. the work on the bridge will actually start next month. the current bonner bridge is 52 years-old,

cities. it happened around 1:30 this morning. chesapeake police say they tried to pull over a driver during a routine traffic stop at campostella boulevard and border road, but that driver refused to stop. officers say they chased the driver into norfolk, where he eventually stopped at kimball terrace and wiley drive. police have not said who the driver is or what charges that person faces. now to decision 20-16 - with super tuesday only a week from today, republican and democratic presidental candidates have their sights set on the commonwealth. next week, voters in 13 states including virginia will head to the polls. later this morning, vermont senator and democratic hopeful bernie sanders is scheduled to hold a rally at the scope in norfolk. and, 10 on your side will be there. rico bush is live in norfolk this morning with more on the rally as we look ahead to super tuesday. rico, good morning. good morning katie, don. eager to make a comeback after a very narrow defeat in

shown remorse. new information came out during dalton's arraignment. police say he had a semi-automatic pistol and more ammunition when they pulled him over early sunday morning. investigators have not found a motive. they say dalton's shootings were random and unprovoked. he faces murder, attempted murder, and gun charges. later this morning a veteran virgina beach police officer is scheduled to have a bond hearing for a drunk driving charge. currently sgt. margaret hobbs is behind bars. virginia beach police say officers arrested sgt. hobbs sunday for driving influence. court records say she had a child with her, and that her blood alcohol level was more public information officer for the department. police have released few details on the arrest. but, sources within the department say hobbs got into some sort of accident on sunday evening near the oceana nas dam neck annex. 10 on your side plans to be in court this morning
