storm. -- also up in a pennsylvania. it is going to get windy and cold today. temperatures are at or above freezing this morning. we have some cold air coming in. we want to see if this little bit of snow is affecting traffic. here is kim dacey. >> really not as bad as we expected. that is good news. roads are slick. use the extra time to get to work. the roads are slick. the only accident of note is in harford county at magnolia. a vehicle went into a ditch. it could be weather related. 11 minutes on the outer loop topside. 70 minutes on 895 south between the 95's. we're up to speed so far. -- 17 minutes on 895 south. doing fine at wilkins avenue.

this is 70 at 29. that's note is in the medium. again, a little slick -- that snow is in the median. that is the latest on traffic pulse 11. >> you are out of luck if you're anticipating a long weekend because of the snow. >> the snow did not amount to much. george lettis has been driving around. how does a look at? >> kids, sorry, you are going to have to go to school. we're in reisterstown at mainstream and westminster road. this is a good example of what we have seen across the region. slightly wet roads but nothing to structures. the plows and salt trucks have been out. there are making sure the roads do not freeze over.

you will most likely see a layer of snow on your car. nothing too treacherous. we have been driving around this morning. to get to reisterstown, we took 83, the beltway, 795. nothing too bad. i was driving from the south on 295 and nothing too bad there, either. we have not seen any major issues with the roads this morning. george lettis, wbal-tv 11 news. >> thank you. a man in baltimore county is recovering after being shot after a domestic dispute. the search for the government continues. police were called in a lot at 5:00 p.m. last night. we have an update into the shooting of a homicide detective. it happened on tuesday night.

police said the officer was approached by a man with a gun. now, sources tell us police have found little to suggest another person was involved. investigators are looking into possible that the shooting was accidental. a spokesperson said police do not have evidence that there is evidence that the shooting was self inflicted. the jewish community watch member accused of attacking a teenager and no longer faces charges. >> charges were dropped against the law orders from -- against eli werdesheim. jennifer franciotti has more. >> attorney said he met with prosecutors gregg bernstein on wednesday and asked if any changes are going to be made. he said bernstein would not discuss the matter. prosecutors did tell the court the evidence, they would not

prosecute the 23-year-old eli werdesheim on the charge of first-degree assault. he still faces false imprisonment and possession of a deadly weapon charge. the boy he is accused of striking -- this was november 19 of last year when the incident happened. a teenage boy it was walking along fallstaff road in baltimore. a car driven by werdesheim fault the boy. the teenager picked up a wooden stick for safety. he was thrown to the ground. he was told, use and not allowed to hear. the teenager suffered a broken wrist. werdesheim said he acted in self-defense. >> the felt it should have been there. he should have had to go to trial. they should consider whether or not the evidence sticks.

>> good morning. cloudy skies. it is a friday morning. there is school today. there are a couple of delays. baltimore and carroll county schools, on two-hour delay today. there could be some slippery streets. austin and inch in most cases around the area. some of the side streets could be slippery. -- less than an inch in most cases.

the baltimore area did not have any snow. still simmering in portions of the lower eastern shore. look at the general pattern. you can see stuff drifting in from the west. just some clouds and a strong winds in the midwest, especially on of wisconsin, illinois, and indiana. that will bring in the colder air. i think that will get your attention more than anything else. blustery conditions and colder temperatures of them now. we'll talk more about the forecast coming up. >> thank you. two miami police officers are killed while trying to serve a warrant. there were attempting to locate a subject in miami dade county went gunfire was exchanged. one officer was killed at the scene. a third officer was killed in the exchange of gunfire. at least one of the suspect was killed.

>> chinese president is moving to chicago. he met with harry reid and other lawmakers yesterday. they spoke about human rights and economic issues. he attended a luncheon with the business and governmental leaders. he said, we do not engage in an arms race. we're not a military threat to any country. he will spend today visiting chicago before he returns to china. >> 33 degrees on tv hill. coming up, the morning's financial news in the bloomberg business report. >> stranded at the airport may not be so bad. many airports are helping out delayed air travelers. how >> is the overnight snow affecting our commute? affecting our commute?

into a ditch. one thing to watch out for. the major roadways are ok. the harrisburg expressway, 45. probably because of the slick roads. people are using extra caution. jfx, 55. 63 on 95 of the northeast corner. wilkins avenue, the road is clear and looking good. this is 70 at 29. the roads are slick but clear of snow and ice. that is the latest on traffic pulse 11. now let's get the latest on the buses and the trains. for that we go to kurt kronke of the mta system. >> we have a few diversions, mostly because of water main breaks. the seven bus is diverting at practt. 20 bus is diverting at baltimore. the 19 and 27 buses are diverting at howard and chase.

metro subway is on schedule. no delays to report on the penn, camden, and brunswick lines. now back to john collins. >> we still have some clouds in the area. most of the snow is gone. it did not amount to much. some flurries in cecil county and kent county. low or eastern shore, and all of it is pulling away. there could be some flurries left here and there. this thing is moving out. at least part want is moving out. we still have cold, windy conditions behind the storm. let's put the temperatures. 34 at the airport. annapolis, 35. 43 and ocean city. that is why it is raining. edgewood, 31. 32 at frederick. oakland, 16 degrees.

the chillier air is coming in from the west. i should say how called? let's expand the map. it is 12 at dayton. and in detroit. zero in chicago. 14 below in minneapolis. 41 below zero at international falls, minnesota. only summer from minnesota could appreciate that. our air will be coming out of that area. -- only someone from minnesota could appreciate that. here is the storm, pulling away from us. there is the snow. it is a quick mover. it did not lay down much snow. our temperatures were hovering around the freezing point, give or take a degree per it was kind of wet snow in many areas. we see some breaks in the clouds. we will see more today. we will see sunshine.

there is a secondary cold front moving in. that will increase the wind and start to bring in some colder air. steady to falling temperatures today. this morning is as warm as we will get today. we're just above the freezing point now. this intensely cold air will start to portion towards the mountains. it will take the temperature down for the weekend. no major storms on this map. but the time we get too early next week, we will see some development to the south and something coming up the coast. that will carry more moisture than the storm that just passed through here. that could be a more significant snow maker. the jury is out on how that will be hate. windy and cold today with decreasing clouds. 20 25 mile per hour wind today.

30 to 35 is the high temperature today. there are still some of advisories fort cecil and kent county is. and on up into new jersey and pennsylvania. most of the snow is tapering off. the generally dry conditions -- there will be a disturbance passing by on saturday. it looks like we're generally tried through the weekend. early next week, we begin to see some clouds to the south. that is the beginning of the next storm. 34 today. that will be the high this morning. 21 will be the low. we will see more sunshine breaking into they would wind conditions. cold tomorrow, 25. we start the morning off in the teens. monday evening, we have that next storm moving in. except what it will do to us, it

is expected to name jeffrey immelt to have this outside panel of economic advisors. keep an eye on shares of capital one. fewer credit-card borrowers are being defaulted. capital one may look into buying the credit card portfolio from target. google is on our radar. shares are expected to rise today. its profit is topping analysts' estimates. they typically do pretty well. more companies are spending more on online advertisements. googled does not charge for it endandroid. today, stocks were lower. china may make some news to try to slow down their economy, and maybe raise interest rates.

>> live, local, late-breaking, this is wbal-tv 11 news today. >> good morning, everybody. welcome back. i am stan stovall. >> and i'm mindy basara. thank you for joining us this morning. baltimore and carroll county schools are on to our delays this morning. let's check the weather and traffic. >> the snowfall was less than an inch. most of the major streets appear to have been treated. there could be some slippery spots. >> will the wet roads start refreeze over? >> if they have assaults on them, it takes longer. it will market that cold that quickly. we will see falling temperatures. we are right around freezing. you can see on the raider, there is still some rain on the lower eastern shore around ocean city and the beaches around delaware.

there are some flurries perhaps cecil and kent county is on the eastern shore. that is all moving out of the picture. we will get some sunshine today. the wind will pick up. temperatures will start to drop this afternoon. not near that temperature in minnesota. it is so cold -- there is an old joke about that summer. more on the forecast coming up. >> the roads are looking pretty good. the secondary streets are where you could run into some problems. watch watch for those. we do have a crash in the city to watch for. also one in harford county at magnolia. a vehicle went into a ditch. that could be a weather-related situation. we have picked up some debris at the bay bridge on westbound 50. be aware of that. we will give it a live look outside at the major roadways.

one of our viewers. his was on south durham street. nobody was in the house that caught fire. there were people in the adjoining home. one person was hurt. >> police are searching for some clues after finding two body inside a perry hall condominium. they were found jumpers circle. the deaths are considered suspicious. police are working on a tip scoured the area of north ben road yesterday in the search for phylicia barnes. the search didn't turn up anything. right now, it is not clear what the next step in the searches. her father has met with the head of the guardian angels. the attorney of a boy reportedly assaulted by a jewish community

watch group member is speaking out this morning pequot prosecutors dropped the most serious charges against the accused, eli werdesheim. jennifer franciotti is live with the details. >> prosecutors say they would not prosecute 23-year-old eli werdesheim on the felony charge of first-degree assault. >> state dismisses the felony charge in the case. this is exciting. the family is pleased with that decision. >> werdesheim still faces second-degree assault, false imprisonment, and possession of a deadly weapon. the attorney represents the 15- year-old african-american boy that werdesheim is accused of striking with a radio. >> if felt it should have been there. he should have gone to a trial for the people of baltimore to consider whether the evidence

let's look at the bus stop forecast. the kids will go for something unusual today. the snow was not the deal. is the temperature range this morning. the wind picks up. by this afternoon, it becomes mostly sunny. temperatures will be colder, only 26 to 30. the wind will be gusting into the 30's to near 40. the wind chill will be 40. it is going to be totally different when the kids come all this afternoon. keep that in mind. we will tell you more about the forecast coming up in just a few minutes. >> mammograms may help assess heart risk in women with advanced kidney disease. 63% of women with in the stage kidney disease had mammograms showing calcium deposits.

these calcifications were present in 70% of women without kidney disease. it could contribute to the higher death rates of those with renal disease, but they could be difficult to detect. this could be a way to track the calcification of kidney patients to lower their risk. it is 33 degrees on tv hill. the ravens owner shares fan frustration over the ravens loss. >> a remarkable recovery. what gabrielle giffords did for the first time since being shot and had two weeks ago. she is on the move today. >> this is a live look over the downtown area. we'll come back and update weather and traffic pulse 11 for your morning commute.

insta-weather plus together. >> good morning. kim dacey checking on your morning commute. we cleared the debris that was clearing was down 50 at the bay bridge. there's a location in fayette street in downtown baltimore. we have a few other accidents to talk about. one is it, is still at york road. the other in harford county at magnolia. a few things to watch out, some minor accidents. the major roadways showing we are up to speed on the major roadways. 57 on the j.f.x. 6 2 on 95 in the northeast corner. things are moving pretty well. we will give you a live look outside and show you wilkins avenue on the west side, moving fine. the roadways are wet. 695 at joppa road road. things of moving fine.

west. that band of snow will see snows in some areas, a specimen of the eastern shore. lake michigan. a long way from us. strong wind and the lake waters are still open. the second front will move through today. we really pick up some cold air. really cold air in parts of canada. generally dry conditions for a few days. the next storm will come out of the south early next week. more moisture with that. willoughby rain or snow or a combination? we're talking about snow. -- will it be rain or snow or a combination? here is the temperatures. international falls, 41 below. chicago is that zero. coldest air is from northern minnesota up to about hudson bay

or so. that is exactly where the wind is going to be blowing from today and tomorrow. that will drive our temperatures down. 30 to 35 is our high today. later today, midday, our temperature will steady at or fall back. the wind will pick up 20 to 25, gusting to 40. we will see more sunshine comment during the day today. we see the departing storm and the generally dry conditions. snow in the mountains will give up the ghost. disturbance will pass to our south on saturday. we will pick up some snow activity saturday into sunday in the mountains out west. that is a good news for the skiers. it will be on the windy side tonight. morning high today, 34. the evening low this evening will be down around 21 degrees.

on saturday, the morning's low of 13 with a high of 25 and a few scattered clouds. maybe an outside chance of a flurry on sunday. late monday into tuesday, the next storm looks like it will be a coastal storm. we will talk about snow but the fine point detail is not their. >> arizona congresswoman gabrielle giffords will be on the move today. >> she's the only victim still hospitalized after the shooting rampage. today, she is expected to check into it rehab facility in system. >> today's transfer comes on top of more good news. congresswoman gabrielle giffords was able to do her physical therapy outside. it is a milestone in a recovery her husband calls remarkable. sunshine, fresh air, and in view of the mountains.

on thursday, arizona congresswoman gabrielle giffords got to go outside. >> time i interact with her, there is something quite inspiring. >> giffords is expected to be transferred to wait rehab facility in houston. >> is a critical factor in this decision is the fact that it will let me be fair by her side as much as possible, every single day. >> her husband believes his wife is trying to speak to him. she said -- he said the breathing tube is in the way. >> next, she will be walking and talking. you'll see you're walking through the front door in two zero months. >> is beginning to stand with assistance. these are fantastic investments for. they indicate higher cognitive function. >> doctors say her road to recovery is a long one.
