one lane is closed. 97 north and southbound looking good. we have some closures in the city. dolphin at howard is closed because of artscape. five minutes is to drive time on 95 south down to the fort mchenry. 10 minutes on 95 for the south down to 32. 11 minutes on the outer loop west side top to bottom. this is the northwest corner of the balbeltway. this is the key bridge. the east side looks great. no problems at the tunnels this morning. that is the latest on traffic pulse 11. back to you. >> thank you. a violent 24 hours in baltimore. >> three people are dead. kim dacey joins us live downtown at city police headquarters with more. good morning.
>> the violence on sunday started around 2:00 a.m. there were four shootings and stabbings in the period of one hour, and a total of seven incidents that left three people dead and four others injured. it was a busy sunday morning for baltimore city police. just after 2:00 a.m., a man was shot in the leg on eighth street in brooklyn park and taken to the hospital. at 2:32, police found 46-year- old richard mills sitting in a pickup truck in north baltimore. he had been stabbed in the stomach and died later at johns hopkins hospital. another homicide just minutes later. around 2:36 a.m., police say 22-year-old jerel mcfadden was shot in the upper body in the 1500 block of lester morton court in east baltimore. he was also pronounced dead at johns hopkins. 2:42 a.m., a man walked into a hospital with a gunshot wound. police say he was shot in the 4100 block of pascal avenue. around 11:00 a.m., police found a woman dead in the 200 block of north belnord avenue.
police are not releasing any information about how the woman died or the circumstances surrounding it. the homicide detectives continue to investigate. there was gunfire. police say a man who shot in the chest. we have new information on the final incident from yesterday. police say there were three victims including a 17-year-old male who was shot several times. if you have any information on any of these crimes, police want to hear from you. kim dacey, et wbal-tv 11 news. >> the man accused of a deadly stabbing remains behind bars this morning. 32-year-old marcus harris is expected to appear later this week. he turned himself into police this saturday for the murder of joseph calo.
his former pro friend said he is pleased to hear about the arrest. >> i'm glad this will not happen to somebody else and that they caught him. they got the guy and they will bring him to justice. >> please credit the person who took a picture of the suspect who helped break the case. police make an arrest in a street fight that turned into a knife fight in glen bernie. a man is charged with attempted murder. >> we now know where a fire got its start. the fire at the hotel on baltimore national pike started in a locked storage room saturday night. firefighters evacuated 160 people from that hotel. >> this was one of the largest fires we have had in recent memories in terms of scope and
in terms of the number of people affected by it. >> we ran out. we made sure everybody was out. we left everything. we did not want to touch the food. the drinks, everything. >> damage estimates are at $3.5 million. the exact cause of the fire remains unknown. >> one person slated to stand trial. officials accused the person of stealing the money while she worked as an assistant manager in frederick. she unsuccessfully sued the agency for wrongful termination after she was fired back in 2009. >> the week begins with another meeting at the white house. president obama and congressional leaders are trying
to come to an agreement on the deficit and debt limit. kate amara has more. >> president obama will make a pitch to the american people today, holding a news conference at the white house this morning. they need a deal in the next 10 days. negotiations over the national debt continue at the white house today. >> you'll work it out in 10 days? >> president obama planning to meet once again with the bipartisan leadership of congress. there was no agreement after they met sunday night. the president continued to push for a large $4 trillion package to reduce the deficit and raise the debt ceiling. >> we can meet our fiscal challenge. that's what the american people sent us here to do. they didn't send us to kick our problems down the road. that's exactly what they don't like about washington. >> house speaker john boehner told the group a smaller package or $2 trillion to $2.4 trillion is more realistic. republicans say tax increases make a larger deal unacceptable. >> you do not get the economy

overseas this point. first to india where 60 people have died and more than 100 injured after a train derailed. about 1000 people were on board the train. the cause of the derailment is not yet known. the driver slammed on the brakes after seeing some cows resting on the track. the death toll at nine after an overloaded cruise boat sank off the coast of moscow. the boat was carrying 185 people even know the maximum capacity was 120. 80 people have been rescued from the river. no word on what caused the boat to sing. >> 71 degrees on tv hill. one grocery store is slashing prices. >> the defense secretary gets a crash course in iraq and afghanistan. find out what happened. >> scanlan brings a long running

range. these thunderstorms will catch up to us tomorrow night along this frontal boundary. that will give us some relief from the keheat. the wind will turn more to the south. that will allow more humidity to comment. temperatures in the 90's today and tomorrow. here's a look of the current conditions. a big push of warm air. 90 in kansas city. notice how the temperatures drop off behind the front. we'll get into the more pleasant air mass. mostly sunny and hot today. about a 20% chance for a thunderstorm later this afternoon. a slight chance for a thunderstorm this evening. on comfortable. temperatures drop back into the 70's. uncomfortable.b
will it 95 tomorrow with the heat index close to 100. 86 on thursday. into the weekend, it will start to warm up again, but you should stay dry with temperatures in the low 90's on saturday and sunday. that is the seven-day forecast. >> a few problems to add to the list. we have some closures along harford road because of an accident. outer loop at dulaney valley, some debris to watch for. watch for closures that will remain in effect through the end of the weekend. dolphin at howard because of artscape. so far so good as you travel on the west side of the, the 53. no problems on any other major roadway. this is 83 at warren road. no problems to report all we down to the beltway on the
harrisburg expressway. this is 795 at cockeysville. a smoother ride always down to the beltway. that is the latest on traffic pulse 11. >> a rude welcome for leon panetta as he makes his first visit as defense secretary. there is a meeting between leon panetta. he spoke in the southern region of afghanistan. one of the most controversial tabloids. sun it was the final edition of "news of the world." the paper will shut down following allegations. so far, three people have been arrested in connection with the
scandal. the space shuttle atlantis docked with the international space station. the shuttle members brought along a year's worth of supplies. officials are keeping a close ally of debris that is expected to make a close passed to the station sometime tomorrow. >> it looks like a few markets can expect to see gains in home prices in 2011. they are washington, d.c., new york, orlando, dallas, and san francisco. prices rose 0.9% nationally. the following nine straight months of price drops. people are pouring more in recent months. they are having a tough time paying off debt. credit card delinquency rates increase to 3.4% in the first quarter of 2011.

woman 30 years ago. demand is serving time for raping and killing his girlfriend's mother. the court should have allowed a psychiatrist to testify for the defense. the conviction has been ordered to stand. the ruling will likely be repealed. >> keep your eyes on the skies as those test flights continued. planes will fly at altitudes as low as 1,000 feet in the area, making an since antisense. this is designed to improve the ability of satellites. the planes will fly above 95 and 295 i will pass several times until 7:00 p.m. >> an ambitious project in baltimore. an agreement was penned to keep the jobs in the neighborhood.
