convince the company to sell those drugs to emth. >> north carolinians will be voting in more than the presidential primary. leaders on both sides want voters to prove the connect nc bond $2 billion in new debt for projects all over north carolina including new,s or colleges water and sewer upgrades and state parks. the bond will not require a tax increase because interest rates are low. and the state is paying off the existing debt quickly. >> it took less than 30 minutes for the union county school board to decide the process to replace outgoing superintendent dr. mary ellis. the board met and decided it will spend no more than $25,000 for the north carolina school board association to found the county's next top educator. the board discussed how long the search should take and parents discussed if there was a reason for the the superintendent's departure. dedrick russell was at the meeting and has the story first at 4:00.
union county superintendent dr. mary ellis leaving. >> they should get out at the right time. with the good standing. so it's not too much mud on her feet. >> ellis' announcement came days after the sbi cleared her from wrongdoing involving a business she formed while superintendent. >> she was cleared what went down. she was not guilty. let her have her time. >> while the debate over why ellis is leaving continues, the school board is moving forward to find a replace many. >> to make parents comfortable and our teachers and principals comfortable. >> some members wanted to have a new leader in place by the next school year. >> frankly with time for them to get their feet wet. >> and the board voted for no time line. >> we need to do this right and take our time. >> this is the first time this school board has conducted a superintendent search. members are now looking at other boards especially the charlotte-mecklenburg school
more than a year before starting a search. >> one of the lessons is get the process started. instead of waiting because you never know what may come up. >> the board decided to skip a search firm and gave the job to the north carolina school board's association. >> when you bring in someone that knows north carolina and our rules and advocates for us it makes sense. >> back at the diner, taxpayers say these are the ingredients board members should look for in the next superintendent. >> someone that is fair. >> make sure they are qualified and willing they love children. >> in union county dedrick russell wbtv on your side. >> ellis' last day is june 1st. no word who will be the school district's interim superintendent. >> word of an electrocution here in charlotte. >> troubling story his is in south carolina reports one person is dead and another
electrocution. these images from richland county two people were on scaffolding when this happened. one person was taken to the hospital. and the person who died has not been identified yet. we will be watching our sister station for details on this. one person is dead and one other injured after an electrocution at a work site. >> thank you. >> the charleston city council will vote to support a bill to remove the confederate flag from the citadel chapel. the senator filed a bill to remove it. if approved it would allow public institutions to remove other civil war flags. >> the greensboro civil rights museum owes $50,000 in property taxes. the center and museum has not paid portions of its property taxes from 2014 and 2015. the office says they have reached out to the museum in

on the satellite-radar, we have nothing in the radar department. not even too many clouds. a couple thin clouds especially on the highest elevations and moving into the southern mountains but other than that we are looking good. back to the west cannot say the same thing. across parts of louisiana and texas and arkansas and missouri they have thunderstorms and a tornado watch across parts of texas. and this is trying to come close to us. but it is not having much luck and it looks like it will be a couple days before it does make any progress. and here is our high pressure system in place offshore and we have clockwise flow so here is what is going on. we have the wind coming out of the south and throwing everything up and around that high pressure system. keeping it away from us. not just for tomorrow but also into your day on thursday and into friday. most of us still stay dry. and look at the rain back to the west and that does catch up with us.
