workweek and we're tracking 40s in your seven-day. we'll look at that in just a few minutes. new from overnight in delaware county thankfully nobody was hurt when a pickup truck plowed into a house. the crash happened just after 1:00 this morning. police on the scene tell us the driver ran a stop sign right before the accident. right now it's unclear if the driver will face any charges. also new from overnight, a woman was hurt in this crash in philadelphia's lawncrest neighborhood. police say she hit a tree on roosevelt boulevard around 4:00 this morning. then her car flipped over. the woman was taken to the hospital with cuts and bruises to her head. in south philadelphia police are investigating a shooting that happened around 11:30 last night at 23rd and moore streets. according to police a 20-year-old man is being treated after being shot in the arms and the legs. officers have not made any
arrests yet. taking aim at a firearms policy in lower marion township. that's the focus of a controversial rally that's happening a little bit later on today. nbc's jesse gary is in ball la cynwyd where some are saying this is the wrong place to get the message across. tell us, jesse. >> reporter: as the morning haas ging has moved along, we're seeing more coming out. people jogging, dogs et cetera. a lot of things are prohibited from this park. you see from the sign alcohol, beverages, skateboards, animals, et cetera, but no mention of firearms. yet the township says you cannot bring a firearm into this park. demonstrators argue that that ordinance goes beyond state law especially since the state has said municipalities like marion need to make a right to carry
not infrirj. they're coming to make their point and plead their case. it's made some neighbors uncomfortable. >> i think it would not be good to do it out here especially not today. >> we reached out to cease-fire p.a., a nonprofit. the executive director said it's the next step into bullying the campaign to accept guns anyone anywhere, anytime agenda. she goes on to say guns don't belong near children. coming up you're going to hear from people out here early this morning and why they on jelkt so feverishly to having guns in the park. live from bala sincynwyd park
jesse gary. colleagues and friends and family said good-bye to their colleague. police commissioner charles ramsey awarded wilson the medal of honor, medal of valor and posthumous humusly promoted him to sergeant. >> i have never witnessed an act of bravery like i saw that day. >> hundreds of police officers from philadelphia and across the country paid their final respects to officer wilson at the palestra on penn's campus at university city yesterday morning. officer wilson lost his life trying to save others. the 30-year-old officer was making a security check and buying a gift for one of his sons at a north philadelphia gamestop on march 5th. that's when police say two brothers tried to rob the store. according to police officer wilson's partner shot hipps in the leg.
he's in the hospital. hiss brother is being held in jail. yesterday damien stevenson spoke about sharing a patrol car with his partner officer wilson. >> 2222 will never be the same, 22 district. the smile, everybody knows about the smile. i can go on and on with sfoirs about the smile and complaints we gout because they thought it was on purpose. that gentleman, he smiled. i'm going to go over there. >> stevenson's family in blue game hiv a standing ovation as he left the stage. there was a final salute for officer wilson at the fernwood cemetery inz;n lansdowne yesterday afternoon. the hearse passed under the american flag as you can see as motorcycle police officers led the procession. rising temperatures seem to be taking a toll on buildings in philadelphia. as a matter of fact three buildings crumbblinged leaving
one man hurt and a pet dead. yesterday demolition crews knock dound a remaining hall on this home. earlier in the day the house came crashing down sending debris on the street hitting people passing by. in kensington crews rushed man to the hospital after his house on east sterner street collapsed. one of his dogs was killed. another dog and cat were buried in the rubble but are now doing oklahoma and on busy south street, it happened during a st. patrick's day pub crawl, but fortunately nobody was hurt. >> the fa said came down. there was probably like 15 20 bricks or so. and then the police and fire department came down and blocked everything off. >> city inspectors say as the weather gets warmer after frigid conditions outside, buildings can't handle it and deteriorate and sometimes that can lead to a collapse. the inspectors recommend if you see a building collapse or bulging, report it.

at passersby they believed to be involved in the u.s. >> back in u.s. in new york a tugboat captain is dead after his tugboat sank during a storm. this happened yesterday right off of fire island that's at barrier eiland near long island. according to the investigators the captain was not wearing an immersion suit. the coast guard was able to rescue three other co-workers. now to health workers. some americans will be returned to the u.s. after coming in contact with ebola. the cdc will not say how many. but according to the university of nebraska medical center their doctors plan to treat four people. a work arrived at the national institutes of health in maryland for treatment. the time right now is 9:12. an explosion rocks a house at the jersey shore, and it's the third one in recent weeks. we'll tell you what happened

skies. right now, 45. plenty of cloud cover in the area. winds out of the west at 14 miles an hour. we're looking at temperatures 3 degrees warmer than this time yesterday. that puts u us in the 40s in allentown, 40 in lancaster, 45 in philadelphia. new jersey delaware pretty uniform across the area. 46 in millville and 45 in atlantic city. a pretty mild start to the day. with the winds in place, it's going feel a little cooler than it actually is. looking outside, a little grey in some spots. mostly grey in philadelphia. other spots partly sunny. there's that westerly flow. we're going to see the winds all day long. the hair is going to blow around. up to 16 in allentown, 20 mile per hour in mt. pocono. up to 16 in dover. so everyone is seeing the wind today and we're seeing winds gusting higher than that. winds gusting up to 30 miles an hour in allentown, up to 30 miles an hour in reading.

a car accident last night sent two women to the hospital. witnesses had to jump out of the way to avoid being hurt. a woman walking down the street told us that she had to dive out of the way of the car as the driver reversed from a parking lot. >> i just haerd some screaming from people working here like no, no and it was literally 90 miles an hour just going reverse. i'm still shaking. i turned around and the car flew back. i literally like dove. >> the victims had to be rescued from inside the smashed car but
their injuries are not life-threatening. >> in delaware county investigators are looking for the cause of a fire that destroyed three tractor-trailers. this happened at conway freight in thornton yesterday. the flames also damaged a fourth big rig and a storage trailer. from our trenton bureau a man is in custody after police say he crashed through a barrel scene clipping a car and utility vehicles. according to investigators, the man drove right through the area hitting the battalion chief's emergency vehicle, a pseg truck and another car. then police say the driver got out of his car and ran. an officer eventually caught up with him. all right. let's head now to delaware. state police there are looking for suspects in two armed robberies at new castle county gas stations. the first robbery happened at the bp gas station on pulaski highway in newark. two suspects one of them armed with a knife, got away with

little battleground and the right to carry a firearm. mom-in-training and trying to avoid controversy. their run on this cool morning timed to miss the heated debate over the right to carry a legal gun. >> it's devastating they would come to bala kidnapcynwyd. look around. quiet, safe marion township. that's why we move her with our kids. >> reporter: a group of gun-carrying pennsylvanians scheduled to carry a rally. a ordinance banning guns in public parks goes too far. they argue state law allows permitted people to carry here. >> it's been legal for 40 years and they've refused to repeal it. >> you think they're breaking state law. >> they're absolutely breaking state law. >> reporter: the executive director says today's rally is the next step in the gun owners'
campaign to bully anyone who accepts the guns by anyone anywhere anytime agenda. they say the guns are not needed here. >> certainly i'm for the safety of chin and anti-gun laws and for the safety of families. >> reporter: there's no indication that guan rally by people permitted to carry weapons will care an unsafe environmental here in the park but a lot of people say it doesn't feel ride to have guns near a place where you're going to have swings and a jungle gym. the rally is slated to begin at 1:00 this afternoon. live in bala cynwyd montgomery county, jess garry, nbc 10 news. >> a final tribute to a philadelphia hero. police officer robert wilson iii has now been laid to rest. as a tribute to the eight-year veteran to the department police
commission er commissioner gave him the honor of medal, the honor of valor, and promoted him to sergeant. they're going rename the honor of valor medal in his honor. it was an emotion dale filled with tears but also fond memories of the father of two young boys. his partner on the job spoke about the friendship they shared. >> rob put smiles on my face every single day. we never had a bad day. for some reason we got set rated. i had separated. i had a lot of attitude. i wanted to be around my man. i felt safe around him. he felt safe around me. that's my man. >> wilson was shot and killed during an attempted robbery at gamestop in north philadelphia on march 5th. yesterday afternoon there was a

>> here's the scene of the final collapse, the third one yesterday. we were there as demolition crews knock dound the walls of this remaining home on north union street. this is in west philadelphia. the house came down earlier in the day sending debris onto the street nearly hitting people passing by. this weekend we're getting a better idea of what a memorial will look like that will pay tribute to the victims of the deadly center city building collapse. in the latest step of the construction process, crews placed a replica of the memorial sculpture at 22nd and market street. engineers were on site yesterday to make sure the size and spacing were accurate. six were killed and dozens injured when the building collapsed right on top of a salvation army store. each of the victims will be remembered at the memorial in a special way. >> we're personalizing this because each of the windows of the six windows will be a different color chosen by the families in members of their
loved ones. >> reporter: organizers have raised half of the $1.3 million needed for the product. they hope to build the memorial park later this year. still ahead on nbc 10 news today, the threat of flooding. we'll tell you what's happened this week to prepare you for the spring showers and the dangers that come with it. ♪ and it's one of the signs that spring is almost here. we've got the details on today's st. patrick's day parade in philadelphia.

st. patrick's day, of course, is tuesday, but today the parade will kick off at 12:00 noon. 20,000 are expected to take part with many more on hand to watch. you can find out which roads will be close and check on the detours by going to our "nbc 10 news" app. another st. patrick's day tradition, the chicago river is now green. for more than 50 years the city has dyed the river bright green in honor of st. patrick ice day. people on boats dump an orange poudwdery substance in the water that instantly turns green. it's environmentally safe in case you wondered. last night they did something they haven't done in 20 years that could help them get the top spot in their

new this morning, the first aid came to van roy hue island. so far there are eight confirmed deaths but the united nations say there are unconfirmed numbers and the number is expected to go up. officials are still assessing the damage right now, the destruction really. but according to the red cross the situation is quote, a disaster. back in u.s. in kentucky flooding is complicating the efforts of rescue crews who searched in the overnight hours for a man who report lid fell into the ohio river. witnesses say he fell into the water yesterday afternoon. melting snow and several rainfalls have caused the ohio river to reach its highest loevls in two decades. >> pennsylvania officials are warning that flooding could be an issue here. with all the rain we got this weekend and the rising
temperatures, local rivers and creeks could spill over their banks in the next few weeks. families should take precautions by coming up with an emergency plan and building kits for their homes and cars. they want you to understand the different between a flood warning and a flood watch. a flood warning means it may occur. be prepared to move to high ground quickly in case it comes to that. a flood warning means there is actual flooding. residents should act at once and move to high ground. well there will be no rain today. we're looking at windy conditions. also mostly cloudy. more clouds and sunshine today and then it will clear out nicely on monday. so weather headlines on your sunday. winds, that's the big story today. winds gusting near 40 miles an hour. what a beautiful start to your workweek. less wind. we're going to enjoy that. by tuesday rain comes into your

rally at philadelphia's love park tomorrow. the event is an effort to spread a positive message following charges of racism involving a fraternity at oklahoma university. philadelphia city councilwoman blondell williams brown is organizing tomorrow's noon news conference at love park. it's in response to the video that surfaced. the fraternity has been kicked off campus. other allegations of racism have also surfaced at sae chapters at other colleges. tomorrow's event in philadelphia is open to everybody. people attending are invited to wear their fraternity or sorority colors if they were in a fraternity or sorority and to come with an open heart and positive spirit. the time is 9:57. we'll be back with another half hour news. jesse gary is digging into a gun rights supporters rally that's
