dryer weather is on the way and just not for today though. that's the only problem with that. the rain will hang around a little longer. welcome to "nbc 10 news today." i'm chris cato. >> i'm tracy davidson. it's 55 degrees today. brittney shipp is in the first alert weather center. brittney? >> some locations will be in the 70s, some in the 60s. as we head into the rest of the day, you can see the light rain and low hanging clouds over the shoreline. if i put you over to radar i'll show you where the showers are near washington philadelphia international. wilmington. if you take a look at sussex county near milford and millsboro, light showers. 49 degrees currently in the poconos. 53 in trenton. temperatures starting off in atlantic city at 54 degrees and 55 in wildwood.

we'll continue to see a mix of sun and clouds but on and off showers. 10:00, 58 degrees. 64 by 1:00 p.m. 65 if you're closer to allentown, some of the cities north of the city. we will put you into the low 70s. 68 degree the high expected in philadelphia. i am tracking warmer weather especially as we head into the weekend. i'll go over all the details. we'll check in with first alert traffic reporter jessica boyington. >> we are giving you a quick update. we had a lot of police activity around the vine street expressway. this is coming from the schuylkill eastbound where it splits off headed towards the vine and this way. you can see right now police out of the way so nothing to watch out for there. drive times on the schuylkill, no problems. 12 minutes towards the vine street expressway. average 65 miles per hour

sbournt. 14 minute trip there. mass transit, no delays for septa and amtrak. 5:02. video in to "nbc 10." breaking news out of pleasantville atlantic county. a fire broke out at a home on charles avenue. dispatchers tell "nbc 10" one victim was taken to the hospital with burns and smoke inhalation. that fire is now under control. we are also following breaking news from overnight out of chester. three row home fires on the same block all since saturday. investigators are looking into this as neighbors grow suspicious about how these fires started. the latest fire on beckly place in chester happened last night. this comes after fires on saturday and monday that forced nearly two dozen people to leave their homes. "nbc 10's" matt delucia is live in chester. he's been working the story. matt, you said the mayor of chester has said he's had enough. what's being done now? >> that's right. that's right chris. neighbors here also think this

is no coincidence. now some of them are worried. right over there there is a presence. they've been out here 24/7 and this is gradually burning down. >> there's something going on if there's three fires. >> reporter: neighbor ann stevens isn't the only one thinking that as she watched the home on 400 bickley place. another day, another fire. >> you feel something crooked is going on. how can you have three fires in one week? one week? this is a travesty. they're tearing our neighborhood to shreds. >> santiago garcia is living in this area. my mother is 76 years old. i couldn't believe it. again? this is ridiculous man. >> the first fire happened saturday, then again on monday. starting at one end of the row and now the other.

down the street. an emergency team shut off the main. repair crews will be out to fix the problem. we have learned police in massachusetts arrested a man in connection with an ongoing terror investigation in boston. this comes after a joint terrorism task force in boston shot and killed the man. a spokesman said david wright was taken into custody in his home in everett, massachusetts, yesterday afternoon. expected to appear in court later on today. the spokeswoman would not confirm the charges. sources say he may have been in contact with osama raheem and he may have been involved in plotting an attack. authorities say a police officer and an fbi agent tried to question him outside a pharmacy in boston. when he drew a knife and lunged at them they shot him. he was considering an attack on

police officers in boston within the next few days. it's about 5:06, 55 degrees. new jersey senator robert menendez is pointing to another senator's corruption case trying to move the case to washington. yesterday lawers responded by saying federal prosecutors helped keep federal senator ted stachs from washington. menendez is charged with taking gifts and bribes in exchange for political favors. also happening today, details on a new casino in north jersey that could pull gamblers away. that's the fear. meadowlands racetrack will unveil the plans for a casino. monday state lawmakers propose letting voters decide whether to allow up to three casinos in north jersey. if the bill passes and the

referendum is approved it will end it in new jersey. philadelphia city council could vote on the redevelopment of the gallery mall. they delayed a vote last week. it is considering six bills that will affect the sale and renovation of the mall along east market street. a public meeting is happening today surrounding plans for the new penndot train station in coatsville chester county. it will focus on the center along needwood street. 5:07 now and on to decision 2015. we have results from yesterday's primary election in new jersey. voters selected candidates for the assembly election. there was little suspense. 5 contested races, incumbents won four of those. assembly man brian ross and

diane gove both incumbents won in the ninth disstriks. democratic reed gusioro and louise orio won. now in november democrats will try to build on their majority in the state assembly but if republicans should take over the leadership, it will be their first majority since 2001. it is 5:08. we know the funeral plans for beau biden. the vice president's son died on saturday. he'll lie in the hall and then on friday there will be two public viewings in wilmington. the first one in the afternoon night. a funeral mass will be held saturday morning and president obama will deliver the eulogy. yesterday beau biden's wife

announced the creation of the beau biden foundation for the protection of children. now your "nbc 10" first alert weather with meteorologist brittney shipp. >> good morning. heading into the rest of the today we will continue to see those showers lingering. into wednesday and even into thursday and some models are suggesting even into friday. we are going to start to warm up and eventually dry out. right now our temperatures in the mid 50s. wind speeds 4 miles per hour. 54 in atlantic city. stone harbor we're starting to see a temperature spread. we'll see the wind speeds moving in off shore. radar shots shows us a few scattered showers around the philadelphia area. light rain starting to push into parts of cape may and into the southern parts of delaware near

milford and into mills borrow and even into lewis. on and off showers, mostly cloudy skies. we'll see similar conditions as we head into your thursday especially thursday evening. that looks to be the best chance of a few spotty showers and then again into our overnight hours on friday. a few more just light, spotty showers. same thing around 3:00 p.m. on friday. mainly just parts of new jersey and delaware. friday night plans are on the safe side. definitely your weekend plans will be nice and dry heading into saturday and sunday. our average for this time of year is 79. today and tomorrow will stay below average. as far as today is concerned, temperatures will be a bit cooler closer to the shore. 60s closer to the city or north of the city 72 degrees closer to allentown. seven day forecast shows we are going to see a warmup heading into the weekend, back to the 80s and 70s on sunday. 10 after 5:00 now. check your ride heading out.

just about 5:15 and 55 degrees outside. new information on sexual assault allegations against bill cosby. they're trying to block information coming in another case. three women are suing cosby for defamation after he denied the claims he molested them. the women said documents from the philadelphia case will help their lawsuit. the papers are protected by a confidentiality agreement. we have new information now on that anthrax scare. one of the pentagon's own labs may have received live anthrax. officials say a test kit sent to them in 2006 could have contained live samments. there were no reports of illness amongst staff. the cdc launched an investigation last week. a memorial service is being held today for the six marines who died when their helicopter
