let's get right to that sunday forecast with first alert meteorologist, brittney shipp. brittney, rain really won't be a problem today, but it will be back this week. >> that's right. it will be back as early as tomorrow. we are tracking storms as you head home from work on monday but today, we are going to see such nice temperatures. it's beautiful out there. in the high 70s, plenty of sunshine expected for us. take a live look right now at cape may, just a beautiful day to head down the shore as well. current temperatures starting off in the cooler side, if you're in the poconos, 41 degrees. 10 degrees warmer in allentown at 51. low 50s in pottstown. 59 in philadelphia. 54 in wildwood and 52 degrees in trenton. temperatures in reading at 53. we're in the mid-50s for wildwood. next eight hours, we will see our temperatures warming up nicely here. back to the 70s by 11:00 a.m. in philadelphia by 2:00 p.m. 76. and our highs around the region today, philadelphia will make it to 79. 78 in allentown, low 70s in the
poconos. i am tracking 90s back in your seven-day forecast. rosemary? >> thanks brittney. today, elite cyclists from around the world will tackle the famed manayunk wall when they compete if the philadelphia international cycling classic. nbc 10's jesse gary is live at the starting and finish line with a look at the course. jesse? >> reporter: rosemary yeah we want to talk about what's going on right now. just within the past maybe 20 minutes or so you can see a little bit more activity as people come out and start to get things stet up and prepped for the beginning of the race at 8:00 this morning. but before that you should know, if you have a vehicle in this area and we're standing on manayunk avenue you want to come get your car. this is video we took a little while ago shows cars being towed from this area by the philadelphia police department. this is a 12.3 mile race course and if your vehicle is parked anywhere near here and there are signs clearly posted saying no parking. if you left your vehicle here
overnight, you better come get it as fast as you can, because they are towing this morning. coming up in the next half hour we'll talk about the course itself and tacklk to a gentleman who tried the to make sure as he called it the freight train of cyclists keeps going and doesn't stop. we'll have that coming up in 30 minutes. live in manayunk jesse gary nbc 1030 news. new from overnight, police are looking for the gunman who opened fire and shot a man in kensington. the victim is in critical condition with a chest wound. the shooting happened around 12:45 this morning. we are working to find out some more information about that victim. also new from overnight, a man shot during a robbery in philadelphia is in stable condition. nbc 10 was on this street on north fairhill street where the shooting happened inside of a house around 11:45 last night. the gunman who knew the victim shot him in the leg and then took his necklace and ran. the shooter is still on the loose. a young man is in stable condition after he was injured
in a hit-and-run. authorities tell us the 18-year-old was walking on ridge avenue in strawberry mansion when he was hit by a black car which then took off. this happened around 10:00 last night. police are now searching for the driver. the packed church was a testament to how much beau biden meant to delaware and to the country. thousands attended his funeral yesterday from the president to the general public. >> he did in 46 years what most of us couldn't do in 146. he left nothing in the tank. >> the funeral mass was held at st. anthony of padua catholic church in wilmington yesterday. the 46-year-old former attorney general for delaware and oldest son of the vice president died last weekend after a battle with brain cancer. many from the first state turned out to pay their respects. >> he was one of a kind. truly cared about people and making sure that kids and the elderly were safe. >> it was beautiful hearing, you
know, what people had to say about him. you knew more about -- you felt connected, because you knew more about him on a different level. >> those who could not make it inside the church stood along the streets outside with flags and signs to show their support for the biden family. coming up in just a few minutes from now, we'll hear the touching tribute from beau biden's siblings. in the lehigh valley a neighborhood is mourning the death of a 3-year-old girl after she and her older sister fell from an apartment window. last night on turner street neighbors lit candles and brought teddy bears to the scene of the accident. tamara arnette died. her 5-year-old sister remains in the hospital in critical condition. authorities say the screen of the window was defective and loose. neighbors are now demanding inspections at the apartment complex. >> look at the windows. see if you have children that's on high floors. make sure that they're protected. do something. don't just ignore it.
>> police say they do not expect to file charges against the girl's grandmother, whom witnesses say was on the scene. coming up at 6:30 this morning, you will hear more about that from a friend of the family. let's head now to camden county, where the manhunt for a murder suspect is over after the alleged killer committed suicide. police found michael eitel's body in the garage of a house in west berlin yesterday. investigators say he hanged himself. police began searching for eitel wednesday night after his ex-girlfriend, carol browne was stabbed to death in the driveway of her house in berlin township. she had a protection order against eitel. happening thousand a manhunt is underway in uptown new york for two attempted murderers who escaped from a maximum security prison. authorities say both inmates who have been identified as richard mat and david sweat are considered to be a danger to the public. heavily armed state troopers and
k-9 units have been searching neighborhoods near the clinton correctional facility. it's about 25 miles from the canadian border in upstate new york. officials say the prisoners used power tools to cut through the wall of their cells and then navigated a maze of tunnels and exited through a manhole just outside of the prison grounds. not clear how they got ahold of those power tools in the first place. the time right now is 6:07. next a different kind of ball game lets the visually impaired take the field. we'll explain the ins and outs of beep baseball and how a local police department pitched in to raise awareness for these athletes. and plenty of sunshine expected today. plus temperatures in the high 70s. i'm tracking storms and the return of temperatures in the 90s. i'll go over all the details and when you can expect, coming up in my full forecast.
good morning. we're seeing a chilly start to the morning in certain locations, a mild start if you're in philadelphia. already at 60 degrees. today we'll warm close to 80 degrees. there's a live look at the poconos. that's one of the locations that's seeing a cold start. so paycheck sure you grab a jacket before you head out the door. only 41 degrees in the poconos. 51 in allentown. close to 60 degrees in philadelphia. 58 in wilmington. low 50s in atlantic city. 54 degrees in wildwood. and it's 57 currently in dover. a closer look at the next eight hours, where temperatures are going to push into the 70s by the time you head out for lunch, or maybe you're heading home from church. by 11:00 a.m. 70 degrees. 76 by 2:00 p.m. and today, our temperatures will get close to 80 degrees once again for philadelphia. a bit cooler right along the shore. 73 degrees in dover. temperatures in the poconos will make it to 70. we'll see a range with our inland conditions between 77 and 80 degrees. sunny and nice with our wind directions shifting from the

>> right annoynow you can go to our nbc 10 news app for an entire gallery of photos from beau biden's life. good morning. temperatures today will push into the high 70s. still a bit below average for us, but beautiful conditions expected with plenty of sunshine. storms will return as we head to work tomorrow. as you're heading home from work, that's our best chance to see thunderstorm activity. and then 90s are back this week. we are going to see two chances to hit 90 degrees. right now, outside, you can see plenty of sunshine a mix of sun and clouds. 59 degrees for philadelphia. a relatively mild start to the morning in philly. other locations are bit cooler like the poconos in the low 40s. and we're in the mid-50s for reading, atlantic city at 52 degrees. and we're seeing a little bit more sunshine in atlantic city.
right now throughout the rest of the region like i mentioned, cooler conditions in the poconos, only at 41. we're at 51 in allentown. 51 in coatesville this morning. 50 in bluebell. 53 in washington township. mid-50s here in northeast philly. 52 in trenton, and right along the shore, we're at 56 in avalon, already 61 in lewis. our temperatures are still colder right now than they were this time yesterday. but as we push into the afternoon, we will see similar conditions to yesterday with the exception of those showers that we saw. so heavy downpours throughout parts of our shore communities, but as far as today is concerned, we are quiet on the radar. we'll see plenty of sunshine. it's going to be a very very nice day. but we are already tracking changes here. so i'll show you what happens with our futurecast. you'll notice part of this energy moves our way as we push into tomorrow. should be dry for you to head to work, but by the time you head home from work around 6:00 p.m., we are going to be checking out thunderstorms
stretching from new york all the way down into allentown, right over philadelphia into new castle county. these thunderstorms are going to continue as we head into your monday evening. and by tuesday we're going to see another round of showers. so we do have unsettled weather pattern on the way for us both monday and tuesday. today is the exception. beautiful conditions expected today. and then we're going to enter into a warming trend that's going to send abuse the 90s by the middle part of your workweek. as far as today is concerned, our temperatures will range between 77 and 80 degrees. sunny and nice. our wind speeds out of the south, 5 to 10 miles per hour. and if you take a look at the seven-day forecast it shows a warm-up between today and tomorrow, up to 84 degrees with a chance of thunderstorms by the time you head home from work. then showers on tuesday. we still are going to be above average at 85. 87 on wednesday. by thursday 90 degrees. friday a chance to see 90s once again. hot and humid conditions. and by saturday a chance of showers. you can't hit what you can't
see. that old saying means nothing in beep baseball. it's a new game designed to get visually impaired folks out on the field and playing the grand old game. watch and take a listen. >> ready, set. >> yeah! >> all right! camden county police took on an organized beep baseball squad at pine point park in camden yesterday. the officers wore blindfolds to level the playing field. in this game, the ball beeps and the bases buzz so that players can locate their positions. police and county officials are hoping that the game will encourage disabled athletes to form their own beep baseball team. an event this weekend in camden county connected rescue dogs with new families. dozens of dogs were at the wannabe outing in vorhees yesterday, as in wannabe adopted. they're all longtime residents
at the vorhees animal rescue. the time now is 6:19. this morning, we're getting a first look at pictures of the royal family princess charlotte together with her brother. plus singer enrique iglesias has a message for his fans,s after he was hugger during a performance when he grabbed a drone shooting video of the concert.
at 6:22 on this sunday here is a live look over center city. looking fabulous out there. meteorologist brittney shipp tells us that the temperatures are going to rise into the 70s, get pretty close to 80 degrees today. we're not going to have to worry about any pop-up showers or downpours later on. it's going to be clear.
however, she is tracking some rain in the forecast for the workweek. she'll have details throughout the newscast. it's commencement day at pcome, the philadelphia college of osteopathic medicine. 255 graduates already got their white coats, now the physicians will receive their diplomas. the commencement will be held later this morning at the kimmel center. also the today, it's time to get your irish off at penn's landing. they'll kick off multi-cultural events with the irish-american festival. you're in for movies arts food, and it is free to get in. this weekend, a camden county family took a stand against childhood cancer and broke a guinness world record in the process. the adkins family set out to break the record for the largest cup of lemonade torrid to fight more donations to fight cancer.
so they set up lily's big grand lemonade stand. lily adkins is a cancer survivor, 9 years old. the family succeeded in breaking the record. the cup held more than 1,700 gallons. proceeds from the event go to the alexes lemonade foundation. new this morning, in new york, an arson squad is now examining a boat that caught fire off the coast of long island. the flames forced the crew overboard. the three men on the boat noticed smoke coming from the engine compartment last night. police say that they told them they tried to put it out with a fire extinguisher. when that didn't work they put on life jackets, jumped into the water, and called 911. police pulled them out moments later. no word on a cause, but the arson squad is participating in the investigation. now to some new information out of china, where the death toll from a cruise ship disaster on the yangtze river has now topped 430. we also have new video of rescue workers and government officials mourning the deaths during a
ceremony today. about three dozen people are still missing. the ship capsized in a storm this past monday. authorities have arrested the captain and first engineer. they survived. police say that the captain and engineer received a warning about the weather before the disaster. now to some news in south korea. a fifth person has died from an outbreak of middle east respiratory syndrome or mers. you can see people at this airport wearing masks as a precaution. south korean health officials report that 50 people are infected with the virus. mers can cause fever, breathing problems, pneumonia, and kidney failure. back here in the u.s. searchers in texas have found another body they believe is related to the floods that happened memorial day weekend. the man was discovered near the blanco river yesterday. crews are still searching for three people missing in that area. at least 23 people across the state have died in the floods. residents on mexico's baja peninsula are boarding up businesses and their homes in
preparation for hurricane blanca. the unpredictable storm strengthened from a category 1 to a cat-4 and then weakened slightly yesterday. it is expected to keep getting weaker making landfall as a tropical storm tomorrow. singer enrique iglesias says his hand is getting better little by little. he posted a photo on instagram that showed his unharmed hand with a red thank you on it. it was meant to thank his fans for his support. iglesias sliced his fingers when he grabbed a drone in tijuana, mexicos last weekend. the drone was used to provide overhead shots. the singer performed for about 30 minutes after the injury. in his instagram post iglesias says he will be back performing in mexico in july. well it seemsv britain's prince george is already getting the hang of his new role as big brother. take a look at these first pictures of george together with his new sister prince charlotte. the duke and duchess of

meteorologist brittney shipp is watching the beautiful weather out there. and brittney it sounds like the advice to our viewers is enjoy it while it lasts. >> really take advantage of today. we have changes on the way as we head into next week. first of all, it's going to get a lot warmer hot and humid, and we're also tracking storms. but today, beautiful. plenty of sunshine temperatures a little bit below average in the high 70s. it's going to be a picture-perfect day. 41 in the poconos. a cold start there. 59 in philadelphia. 58 in wilmington. 52 in atlantic city. temperatures in wildwood at 54 degrees. our average for this time of year is closer to 80 degrees. so we'll be pretty close to that but as we head into your workweek temperatures will warm well above average. we'll stay there all next week until we push close to 90 degrees thursday and friday. i am also tracking clear conditions today, no rain on our radar, but we have changes on the way. i'll let you know when this system will start to affect us
coming up in my full forecast. today, thousands of spectators will gather in manayunk for the annual philadelphia international cycling classic. nbc 10's jesse delaware is live near the start and the finish line. jesse, a lot of streets in manayunk are closed today, which means the they'll get crowded in the next hour or so. >> reporter: that is exactly right, rosemary. as a matter of fact, they're get everything set up right now for the start of the race. there's a fun ride that's beginning over on sedgely in about 15 minutes or so. but you can see right here most of the activity focused on getting the starting line and the finishing line all prepped for the big race through philadelphia. this is an international event that pulls cyclists and spectators from all over the country and world. the men will do nine laps the ladies six with each loop ending at the famed manayunk wall. i asked the fire marshal about the danger of mixing that many cyclists with people moving around, trying to get the best
view of the race. >> later on in the day, the lack of focus by the spectators where they're just worried about getting across the street or enjoying what they're doing and clearing the course so that no one has to stop. because when this freight train comes rolling through, it doesn't stop for anybody. >> reporter: and here's a look at the 12.3 mile course as it winds its way through manayunk east falls, a roxborough and fairmont park. equal prize money for both sexes. the top finishers, men's and women's, each get $30,000. an update in 30 minutes here at the race start on what it looks like heading up to the big pushoff of men's at 8:00. live in manayunk jesse gary nbc 10 news. new from overnight, philadelphia police are looking

state. >> he made you want to be a better person. isn't that finally the measure of a man? the way he lives, how he treats others, no matter what life may throw at him. >> funeral services were held at st. anthony of padua church in wilmington yesterday. the 46-year-old husband and father and oldest son of the vice president died last weekend after a battle with brain cancer. both political leaders and residents of delaware say that his commitment to serving the public will never be forgotten. >> it was our little secret the biden family but now the whole world knows how much everybody cares about him and how much they mean to us. >> he did a lot of good for our state and i think this is a loss that delawareans all feel very deeply. >> the service was packed yesterday. more than 1,000 people were inside the church. some standing along the pews. there was also a gym nearby
where the overflow crowd watched the funeral on a video screen. and i pray for her. i pray for her comfort and i pray for her family. because this is a very hard situation. >> this morning, a lehigh valley neighborhood is grieving for a 3-year-old girl who died after falling from an apartment window. the tragedy happened in allentown on friday night. the victim and her older sister fell more than 40 feet from the window to the ground. nbc 10 was on turner street last night for a memorial vigil. people lit candles and lady teddy bears on the sidewalk beneath the four-story window. 3-year-old tamara arnette died. her 5-year-old sister tiana, remains in the hospital in critical condition. the coroner has ruled the death an accident. police say that they do not expect to file any charges against the girl's grandmother, whom witnesses tell us was on the scene and watching the girls. >> she, you know would never intentionally put the girls in
harm's way. >> it's very painful. the sad part about it is like when i look up i can't imagine. >> police tell us that their investigation has revealed a flaw in the window inside of the apartment. according to investigators, the screen was loose and even the slightest push would have popped it out. coming up at 7:00 this morning, you will hear from a community member who is now calling for changes at the apartment complex. in camden county, the manhunt for a murder suspect is over after the alleged killer committed suicide. police found michael eitel's body in the garage of a house in west berlin yesterday. investigators say that he hanged himself. police began searching for eitel wednesday night after his ex-girlfriend, carol browne was stabbed to death in theher house. police in philadelphia are investigating two shootings, just a block apart in point breeze. homicide detectives believe they may be related.
the first happened yesterday on oakford street near 23rd. somebody shot and killed a man inside of a van. the second shooting happened last night at 24th and reef streets. police say a man was shot more than a dozen times there. he is in extremely critical condition. police have not made an arrest in either case. now an update about an armed robbery in gloucester county. police think it's connected to another robbery in the area. you may remember yesterday morning, we showed you she's surveillance pictures of a man pointing a gun at the employees of the fulton bank. the robbery happened friday night. the suspect got away with an unknown amount of cash and a gray shopping bag. now police believe to the same man was involved in another armed robbery in west deckford. if you recognize him, call 911. happening now in upstate new york a manhunt for two escaped prisoners. authorities say quktconvicted
murderers broke out a maximum security prison some time before 5:30 yesterday morning. here's what we know about that manhunt. as you can see, there are many police officers on the ground k-9 units on the ground. they are srnlging the neighborhoods near the clinton correctional facility that is just near the canadian border in upstate new york. here's what we're finding out from the authorities. apparently, they used power tools to cut through the walls of their cell then navigates a maze of tunnels and exited through a manhole just outside of the prison grounds. >> it was elaborate, it was sophisticated. it encompassed drilling through steel walls and steel pipes. so this was not easily accomplished. >> officials are now trying to figure out exactly how the prisoners got ahold of the power tools in the first place. this by the way, is the first escape from the maximum security section since the prison opened in 1865.

sunshine and there's a live look outside right now of cape may. that's going to be one of the cool places to be today, with temperatures expected to warm into the low 70s. it will be a bit warmer inland if you want to check out the phillies' game. temperatures today ranging between 77 and 80 degrees, sunny and nice. wind speeds will shift out of the south, 5 to 10 miles per hour. was currently, as you're getting up and heading out the door, we're at 59 degrees in philadelphia. 58 in wilmington. low 50s in atlantic city. 55 in wildwood and 41 currently in the poconos. temperatures in dover at 57 degrees. and our radar shot shows no showers in the forecast, unlike yesterday, where we saw a few isolated heavy downpours. but we are tracking storms and they're going to be heading our way as we head into tomorrow. i'll go over the breakdown, coming up. a new report a federal report reveals that new jersey officials did not properly award
$60 million in hurricane sandy contracts for storm repairs. the watchdog report from the department of housing and urban development or hud, said that the state did not prepare cost estimates. according to the report those estimates were actually $9 million less after the deal was signed. the report suggests that new jersey officials repay some of the money to hud. governor chris christie's office is responding to the news admitting that the report does raise issues that, quote, don't square with the facts. next castaway for free. where you can enjoy some fishing today without paying for a license.
can get in on the action today. you can cast your lines at several ponds in the state without a license. you will need a free fisherman i.d. number though. to get it just use the nbc 10 news app or go to nbc10.com. checking in now on wall street, cnbc's mandy drury gives us a preview of what's ahead this week in business news. >> this should be the week apple unveils its streaming music service, but negotiations with major music labels are going down to the wire. sources tell bloomberg the snag is over how much apple will pay to label for their music. the announcement is expected at apple's big developer's conference if san francisco which starts on monday. elsewhere in the tech world, keep an eye on alibaba. the company's ceo will be speaking in new york city on tuesday. are may's strong jobs numbers translating into more consumer spending? we'll find out on friday. also on friday wholesale inflation figures. early in the week, traders will be watching wholesale trade on
tuesday and retail trade on thursday. and as we push into the rest of today, we will warm a little bit below average, but still very nice and comfortable out. 51 in mt. pocono. 52 in trenton. if you're waking up with us in pottstown, we're at 51 and a bit warmer in dover at 57. temperatures are cooler right now than we were at this time yesterday. we're down about 10 degrees in trenton, 11 in allentown, 11 in read welcome and down 10 in pottstown. we'll make it up as we head into the afternoon, with similar conditions to yesterday. yesterday, we were dealing with a few scattered showers. today, plenty of sunshine barely any clouds. we are going to track a weather disturbance heading our way and that's going to bring us the possibility of severe thunderstorms as we push into tomorrow. not during the morning rush but by the time you're heading home from work that's when we're going to start to see our best chance for thunderstorm activity. that's going to affect allentown, stretching into philadelphia, south jersey camden gloucester counties on how to new castle county and this will continue to track to
