expressway back opened to traffic you can now access that area. as for that bridge repair, we are dealing with chestnut closed. currently they are directing all traffic off. you hit market street. completely avoid it. head up north of our area. >> that will get you around the incident. back to you, guys. >> well, we have a warning this morning, penndot shut down that chestnut street bridge last night. it could be closed for while. nbc 10 is live with more on this. >> lauren, the bridge is a big one. chestnut street over columbus boulevard. it connects it with penn's landing. this morning, no one is driving
or walking over that bridge. that's because yesterday someone found a 4-foot crack. you are looking at it there, in one of the bridge's support tiers with the structure that helps to hold the bridge up. now we reached out to a penndot spokesperson to try to find out the cause of this 4-foot crack, how long the bridge will be closed as crews fix it and make it safe enough for travel. in the meantime, if you hit chestnut through old city, you will be diverted on to front street, north and south. >> all right, we just got some breaking news into the newsroom here. police tell us they're investigating a pair of armed robberies near the campus of temple university in north philadelphia. one student was robbed and another was robbed on north 15th street. neither student was hurt. so far police have made no arrests. we will bring you updates as soon as we get it. we do have an update on that
3-year-old boy found dead in a camden county park tuesday morning. there was an autopsy that don't show how the boy died. a group says the autopsy revealed no broken bones and no apparent death. they found the body about a half mile from his home. now sources close to the investigation tell nbc 10 the boy was definitely placed there, middle easterning he didn't get there in this park by himself. the community yesterday reacted to the father's 11 call when he realized his son was missing. 911, what's your emergency? >> i woke up, i don't know if he wandered out of the house. >> the camden county prosecutors office says the inconclusive autopsy will hinder their investigation but will not stop it. a newcastle county man will face charges later today after police say he admitted to
killing a psychiatrist in her -- police have not released the name of the victim or the suspect. we know they took a man into custody yesterday not long after the victim's daughter found her body. authorities say the suspect called police to tell them he killed the woman. he was a psychiatrist at a center in newark. >> a lot of professionals, medical people that do live here and that is what is so shocking that a crime happened here. again it shows you that crime can happen anywhere. investigators have not revealed how the doctor died. the center why the psychiatrist works says it is working with the police. the son of the congressman is expected into a courtroom.
he denies the charges, but todd, jr., faces jail time and a fine of up to $13 million. his father is charged in a different corruption case. in july, they indicted the sr., he is accused of other forms of corruption. he has denied all wrong-doing. his trial is scheduled for next may. now the congressman is married to news averager renee. she is referenced in the criminal complainsly is she is labeled as an affiliate. they allege she took part in a scheme to fraudulently tell a car to pay closing costs. she is not charged with a crime. she denies any wrongdoing. renee is on leave from nbc 10. the pennsylvania attorney general's office is pushing back on suggestions it didn't provide all the e-mails involving a state supreme court justice. the judicial conduct board cleared justice michael eakin
last year. two weeks ago kathryn cane's office received reports as racially offensive and pornographic. now the judicial conduct board is insisting he didn't give them all of the e-mails before they cleared eakin. the office says not only did he hand over all the e-mails, he told investigators about them and did not dispute the description of them. now to a story you saw first on nbc 10. a montgomery county man is behind bars after police say he went on a vandalism spree at two landsdale business and a liss toric church. our cameras were rolling yesterday when they led christopher rose into the court. he was accused of smashing things outside a tamp on november 5th. police say he continued at a nearby church before moving on to a supermarket. >> while he was there, they
pulled up and he fired and it was concerning to us. >> this morning rose is being held on a $10,000 bail. hang today, a pennsylvania law maker will reintroduce a bill that would require background checks for all gun jaels. the representative will hold a rally at montgomery county courthouse in norristown this morning. this bill will close a loophole that allows sellers to sell long barrel guns without conducting a backgrounds check on the buyer. 5:08. happening today at the jersey shore, a ground breaking ceremony for a sea wall and boardwalk project. they say it will provide protection during storms and the project will finally restore atlantic city's historic boardwalk. it starts at 11:00 a.m. on the forth end of pacific avenue. and a company that loves to build pow were generating windows off the coast of
