let's get to meteorologist bill henley with his first alert forecast for today. >> above average, i like that. it's going to be a really nice day. yesterday was a beauty. we were in the 70s yesterday afternoon. it will be warmer this afternoon. and most of the area is warmer this morning. 40s and 50s, 52 in philadelphia, there are some chilly spots, pottstown, wilmington, trenton in the low 40s for millville. sunshine, it's going to be a fast warm-up from the low 50s at 8:00, a little bit of a breeze, 64 at 11:00, and then it's into the 70s this afternoon. 2:00, 72 degrees. and the numbers at that hour will be climbing. i'll show you how warm it's going to get in your neighborhood when i go through the forecast in ten minutes. jessica boyington is looking at first alert traffic. >> we're watching the schuylkill expressway now, right around belmont avenue you can see this accident blocking the on ramp eastbound, the vehicle pulled to
the side. back up in that direction and gaper delay eastbound, you can see where we're seeing slow speeds, 17 minutes now eastbound from the blue route to the vine street expressway. average speed 46 miles per hour. we're going to move into glassboro, new jersey. so have to get to campus today, rowan university area, we have 322 in both directions blocked from main street in this direction, to 47 which all lanes are blocked due to the water main break. you don't have to locally drive around the area take route 55. otherwise, ellis street here, wraps underneath and you can climb back on 322 in the other direction. p officer murdered. investigators say a bicycle thief shot and killed one of new york's finest. chris cato is live in the digital operations center. you have new information on the latest officer killed in the line of duty. >> new information and for the first time a new photo for the first time we're seeing the face
of this fallen police officer, his name is randolph holder. here he is. he is 33 years old. immigrant from gianna, a 5-year veteran. the commissioner says he has an exemplary record. last night he and others responded to calls about gun shots in east harlem, a citizen told police a man had stolen his bicycle at gunpoint. the officer saw the suspect on a bike on a pedestrian bridge. new york's police commissioner picked up the story from there. >> it was an exchange of gun fire between the male suspect and the two officers. during this exchange officer holder was struck in the head. >> officer holder died at the hospital around 10:20 p.m., the fourth police officer to be killed in new york city in the past 11 months. a lot of heavy hearts there. police did catch the suspect a short distance from the scene. he has a gunshot wound to the
leg. he was taken to the hospital, he is expected to be released and transferred to police custody. we don't have his name yet. chris cato, "nbc 10 news." 6:33. we're continuing to follow breaking news in philadelphia's crescentville neighborhood. a house fire injures a man. he still was able to rescue his beloved pets. monique is live on scene. do you have an update on his condition? >> reporter: i do, tracy. the victim described as a man in his 40s, suffered burns on his face, his arms and legs. he's in stable condition over at einstein medical center. they tell us when firefighters arrived here to the inferno that swept through his row home he was more concerned about his beloved dogs. he rescued one dog, then went back for a second dog. their ages 15 and 17. we do have video of the dogs.
one is a pit bull/boxy mix. resuscitated. we also can tell that you the dog suffered a cut on his leg. the neighbors say their home has smoke and water damage but they are allowed back inside. right now the fire marshal is combing through the debris of the destroyed home. the cause is still under investigation. firefighters say the blaze appears to have begun in the rear of the home. the dogs are currently with the animal rescue group known as red paws, they are being treated and cared for while the owner is recovering from burns. >> this montgomery county home safely after flames ripped through it after midnight. the flames pouring out of the home near green and west hancock streets. investigators have not determined a cause.
today we could learn the plans of pennsylvania's top prosecutor kathleen kane's law license will be suspended the end of the day. kane is preparing an e-mail for her staff that will also be made public. that will include what duties she intends to perform after the suspension. the license is on indefinite suspension. the court delayed it 30 days. some are calling for kane to be kicked out of office. political activist says a line in the constitution lets the governor call a senate hearing for cane to be impeached. so longsthere is reasonable cause. >> we're way past that. there's crime, there's disciplinary board, we're pay fast cause. >> kane is charged with perjury and conspiracy for allegedly leaking certain information. she denies wrong doing. >> two top cops are down playing
that they may be candidates for the job of police commissioner. it's a position that will be open when charles ramsey retires. the current superintendent of radnor township and a fellow chief inspector put rumors to rest on tuesday. >> i know rich ross for a number of years would be an accident commissioner for the city of philadelphia. he has all of the tats to be successful. i've been at radnor for five years. this is where i want to be. >> chief of septa police also shot down any notion that he is making a plan on replacing the chief. he tweeted out negative. i love being a caretaker of the underground. >> paul ryan says he will run for house speaker if the republican party unites behind him. >> if you can agree to these requests, and if i can truly be
