>> do you like this trend we had the last few days, really nice but i don't know if it's going to end like this weekend. right to meteorologist bill henley. >> it ended yesterday. sorry to break the news. yesterday, 77 degrees in the afternoon. and we're still feeling some of that warmth. it's unusually warm for this time of year we should be in the middle 40s, we're at 57. the temperatures are coming down. currently in millville, south philadelphia is down to 55. we will see sunshine but the breeze out of the north will keep temperatures in the upper 50s and low 60s. so in spite of bright sunny skies not the big warm-up we saw yesterday. the weekend, there are more change, we'll go through the neighborho neighborhood. the first alert traffic. >> traveling out the door now on 55 in south jersey, watch out
for some construction. midday construction on the southbound side between franklinville. the left lane is closed there, that will be until about 3:00 p.m. all the way for the middle of the afternoon and lunch time. as for the schuylkill, i wanted to pick this camera, it's not very usual that we see the westbound lanes around moving nicely. we have -- to the blue route and 61 miles per hour for your average speed so everybody moving along there. each through the work zones, we're not seeing delays yet. fridays are typically our lightest travel. but eastbound to the schuylkill expressway till an 8 minute trip. >> i'm chris cato live
in our breaking news center. new information about another campus shooting this time in tennessee. our nbc affiliate there is
saying that four people were hurt in that shooting, one person killed. plus are looking for the gunman. they got a call about a showsing just before midnight. police said there was a dice game, a fight started, someone started smooting. three female students were injured. one never went to the hospital. another was treated and released and one remains hospitalized but is expected to recover. the man who was killed. a 19-year-old was not a student at the university. flaet police stay a number of students were there and some of them recorded the shooting. we're searching social media for that. this is an ongoing investigation.
police were telling people who were not students to get off campus. live in our digital operations center, chris cato.
>> at least 42 people are dead after a bus crash in southwest france. this is near the bor ddeaux region. you can see the huge response by police and emergency crews. the bus collided with a truck, both automatic on fire. the bus driver was able to open the door and some escaped. this is the deadliest road accident in years. we'll bring you updates. >> the philadelphia police officer on his way home was involved in a crash in the fish town section of the city. this happened just after midnight. the officer was treated for minor injuries. no one else was hurt and no word what caused that crash. this morning two philadelphia police officers are recovering after high-speed chase in west
villanueva. following this investigation, you have new viewer video. >> moments after that crash happened. it started around 10:00 when movers tried to pull over a driver for dark tinted windows. the driver took off. we have that eyewitness video showing the aftermath of the crash. the suspect apparently t-boned. the force of that sent the police suffolk slamming into a light, hitting a house. police tell us they found a bag of what appeared to be marijuana. one neighbor watched it all happen. >> as soon as i get out of the car, as we hat high ray. he had head on with a police
car. >> sky force 10 flew over the scene last night. two officers were injured. they were taken to presbyterian. in table condition. they both should be okay. we can also tell you that the 23-year-old liver of that black cadillac along with a -- they should be fine as well. but at this point this is a ves guess gags that is continuing. in west philadelphia, george spencer. >> sentencing day for the heavy equipment operator who pled guilty to the deadly collapse. it tilled 6 people. the man at the center of today's sentencing, he pled guilty. in exchange prosecutors agreed to recommend a sentence of no
more than 10 to 20 years in prison. authorities say that ben scott was high on painkillers and marijuana when the wall collapsed. >> today a private funeral will be held for the toddler found dead near the cooper river in haddon township. a viewing was held last night. the cause of death has not been determined because autopsy results have been inconclusive. brandon's father was the last to put him to bet. cam dam wouldn'ty, no charges have been filed. >> the parents of a radnor township man accused of trying to lure children claim their son is harmless. daniel we has autism and just likes talking to children.
help we was arrested on wednesday. >> he allegedly talked to them finding an abandoned cabinet in the woods. lee is being hold on $100,000 bail while he awaits an examination. a 4 yold marriage ends in murder. the victim's husband confessed. gordon admitted to killing his wife jillian in her town shxt her mother found her dead. investigators say rorback strangled her with an electrical cord, stuff add stock in her mouth. rorback is in police custody facing homicide charges. >> today lincoln chafee says he will address the future of his campaign. the former rhode island governor and senator tweeted that out yesterday. he is speak today at a national
committee women's forum. he has had trouble gaining traction. earlier this week form er jim webb announced he was ending his campaign. eight minutes after 6:00. abouten a hour and 10 minutes away from sun rise. a northerly wind is a bit breezy but the northerly wind is going to make for a cooler day in spite of bright sunshine. over the weekend that will change, tracking a chance of showers, looks like light showers for our area. no sign of any wet weather this morning. just scattered clouds in mount pocono it's 44. 55 in northeast philadelphia and 56 degrees in atlantic city. those temperatures come down a few degrees since we've been on the air at 4:00. the wind is light now. here at nbc 10 but we have some gusts to 18 miles an hour.
and the northerly wind that started overnight is going to continue through the day. so the temperatures will be warming up. but not by much. we'll stay dry, radar midwestly clear. there were clouds producing sprinkles, that's not a problem for us for today. today you need your sunglasses and a jacket. 52 in the mountains, low 60s for allentown and reading. plenty of sunshine for doylestown, trenton and mount holly. atlantic city in the low 60s. wilmington, 63 degrees. a look at the weekend and the seven-day forecast when i'm back in ten minutes. >> thank you, bill. 10 after 6:00. time to get another check on traffic and more specifically 95. >> fill us in on what's happening. >> we're not seeing much of an increase in our drive times on 95. this is typically the point where we see that increase first. which we are, a little bit slow
but okay, these are the minutes, we're tacking on 5 to 6 vine street and the ben franklin parkway. they have signs in the area. you'll be fine traveling through. not a lot of volume around the center city area. mass transit no problems or delays, doing great. no delays at the philadelphia international airport or on 95. the lone supermarket that has been around for decades in kmun munt is closing ahead the impact on residents who fear a food desert. plus, temple fans have two thinthing s to cheer about.

we're really messed up. >> we also checked in with some employees. some have been there since the 70s. >> from the jersey shore, officials in atlantic county are warning business leaders to be on the lookout for a burglary suspect. police released these images of the suspect they believe hit several businesses along the route 9 corridor. police tell us that a dark colored compact possibly a honda civic seen in the areas of one of the crimes. >> jerry fogel is out $1 million paid in restitution the ten victims. fogel pled guilty of child porn and sex crime charges. the victims were given checks for $100,000 each. four more victims could have their checks by the time the diskrased man is sentenced in november. >> tgif. we got to get through the morning commute and the

they will detour you around the scene. eased off to the schuylkill expressway we have 9 minutes each around trooper road. >> an hour to go before sun rise. at this time of day the temperatures are cooling down. but it is a warm start for most of the area. a live view looking across the delaware, center city, 57 degrees. that's 6 degrees warmer than yesterday. but don't expect a wag warm-up we had yesterday. there is why. northerly winds. it will keep things cool but that being said. plenty of sunshine, a sunny day ahead. we won't see the upper 70s that we enemployed. 56 in millville. 53 and falling. northeast philadelphia is 55
degrees and while it is down to 53 in whes chester, 5 our, look at coatesville, 49 degrees. so it's been chilly out but will be sunny. no sign of clouds for us today. over the weekend though, this is coming our way. it's spreading showers down into texas. storms in the south. by the time it gets to us light showers if that. future cast shows it will make steady progress but saturday morning. by art night and early sunday we'll see those showers develop and for philadelphia. early in the morning not a lot of rain. a chance we'll see showers over the weekend. no sign of those today. plenty of sunshine, breezy and cooler, upper 50s and low 60s. that's not a lot warmer than it is now. and with the wind blowing tonight it's going to get colder. 39 degrees by tomorrow morning.

in philadelphia but when we went on the air at 4:00 this morning it was 61 degrees. it's down to 57 now. and still falling in parts of the northerly wind that will keep things cooler. clear past the com past center on the way to a sunny day. these temperatures will be climbing but it's not going to be the big warm-up we had yesterday. yesterday afternoon we were 20 degrees warmer than we are now. up to 77 degrees. today we'll be heading back into the 60s. 55 degrees at 8:00, by 11:00, plenty of sunshine but the wind out of the north and that's really going to hold temperatures back. 57 degrees at 11:00, by 2:00 we'll be in the low 60s. and i don't expect it to get a lot warmer for today or for the weekend. we'll go through the forecast neighborhood by neighborhood when i'm back. right now jessica boyington has your first alert traffic. >> we're watching the new jersey turnpike right now, bill. for an accident scene out in the new jersey northbound which is
exit 541 no problems though with the lane restrictions, all lanes open to traffic, that is just moving through over into the shoulder. but watch for there. route 55, there's ongoing construction. southbound that's midday construction, the left lane will be closed there until about 3:00 p.m. we'll head over to 95 and check out what the delay is now around girard avenue approaching an accident scene pushed to the right lane. 30 minutes south from woodhaven to the vine street expressway that's about normal for this time. the average speeds about 27 miles per hour. watch out for that accident. >> now to new information this morning about a police chase and crash in philadelphia that injured two officers. george spencer is live in west philly with an update on the officers' conditions. fill us in, george. >> reporter: rosemary, just in the past five minutes or so a
higher up here told me a guardian angel was with these officers, they are out of the hospital but will require follow-up. a fast-paced and frightening crash after a pursuit that started over dark tinted windows. a viewer sent us this eyewitness view of the crash. you can see some of the responding officers moving quickly. it all apparently began around 10:00 last night, the driver of a black cadillac took off when police tried to pull him over. then at 59th and master that t-boned an suv sending it into a street light. neighbors who watched the pursuit and the crash say the cadillac driver was going fast on residential streets. >> they were coming up at least doing 80 miles per hour plus must. didn't want to stop.
ran through the red light. >> hit the cop. >> hit the cop head on. yes. >> reporter: as sky force 10 flew over the scene last night we can tell you two officers were injured suffering cuts to the nose, head injuries, one of those officers had some repair work done to his face and his nose after this crash. y they were taken to the hospital in stable condition. we learned they have been released from the hospital but require follow-up. for the driver of that cadillac, a 23-year-old man, he and his female passenger were hospitalized. they should be fine. the investigation into all of this is the continuing even this morning. live this morning in west philadelphia, george spencer, "nbc 10 news." >> thank you. a berks county dad is under arrest after allegely coaching his sun to abbully. also accuse of -- james son was
attacking another student on wednesday. the teacher stretched in to stop the fight. and an affidavit quotes manning saying don't ever touch my son or i will hurt you. >> 12-year-old boy's father pulled the teacher away from his son and encouraged the kid to continue. >> manning was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and making terroristic thoughts. they are contemplating similar charges against his 12-year-old son. >> we had new information about this toddler given too much chemotherapy. a philadelphia hospital is apologizing for that mistake. st. christopher's is investigating how the 11-month-old may have received 10 times the proper dose of chemo. nbc 10 broke this earlier this week when we int duesed you to isaac, who has a rare form of cancer. he is nowing treated a it a different hospital but

this into a plus. this is the third time she testified about the attack on september 11, 2012. the republican-led congressional committee has accused her of trying to cover up what led to that attack that killed four americans and trying to cover up some of the information that came out after. clinton got' motional telling lawmakers that she cares more than they do about the lives that were lost. >> i thought more about what happened than all of you put together. i lost more sleep than all of you put together. >> republicans have implied that u.s. ambassador stevens asked clinton and the state department for more security prior to the attack on the compound. yesterday clinton said stevens never asked her about providing more propex but did talk with security professionals. democratic lawmakers say this is all about poll sickitipolitics.

the american commando was shot. and later found dead. >> happening today a palm beach, florida community will come together and discuss the police shooting death of corey jones. the local musician was allegedly waiting for a tow truck on an interstate off ramp when he was killed by a plain clothesed off-duty officer. this morning we are hearing for the first time from the family of a little girl killed in a road rage incident in new mexico. allan garcia was driving when he was cut off by another kafrmt according to garcia he made a gesture to the driver and the car pulled up next to his truck and the driver opened fire killing his daughter lily in the back seat. this isn't the family's first tragedy. lily's mother lost her brother
to murder 12 years ago. >> lost my world when i lost him but it doesn't compare to losing a child. it doesn't compare at all. >> police arrested the other driver seen here. he is charged with murder. you'll hear more from lily's family later on the "today" show. >> the new jersey nurse quarantined last year over ebola years is suing. attorneys for kaci hickox have filed a lawsuit claiming that hillcox was held against her will. >> he is a regular on the "today" show, i'm not talking about matt or al. talking about wrangler. he has become popular. in pup we a purpose, he embarked on a three-day journey that includes stops in dallas, washington, and philadelphia. this is video of wrangler at the
