inside. normally she's out in the field enjoying the elements. >> enjoying the elements is right. but i'm enjoying it more in here. >> we'll see bright sunshine so we'll see the temperatures climb but we've seen the wind shift and that's why it's running chillier. it's a northwesterly wind. 16-mile-an-hour winds in the pocono mountains. higher gusts in the philadelphia area so. this morning we don't have the 60s, it's 40s and low 50s. most of the area has dropped to the 40s. at this hour the temperatures are falling. 7:00, 49 degrees in the city. just 51 at 10:00. so not a big warm-up in those three hours but by 1:00 in the afternoon we'll be in the upper 50s and on our way to near 60 degrees, that's in spite of the winds at 11 miles an hour. we'll go through the forecast neighborhood by neighborhood when i'm back in 10 minutes. right now a friday morning. jessica boyington has your first alert traffic. >> we're watching 95 now, bill.

no increase yet in the drive times. that's a good thing. we have about a half hour for that or so. around girard avenue southbound lanes in here headed toward the center city area. we still have a 13 minute drive time from woodhaven to the vine street express way and we've all been talking about this, temple versus notre dame happening this weekend so we're dealing with closures in the center city area around independence mall between fifth and sixth that's going to be until 7:00 p.m. on saturday. we have septa buses detoured, 17, 33, 44 and 48 your alternate there is to take the market-frankford line adding extra trains on saturday and will be making stops around the detoured areas. >> thanks, jessica. new from overnight fire officials are investigating several tow truck fires they consider suspicious. nbc 10 was in west philadelphia overnight at 61st and lancaster avenue as crews worked to put out the flames. no one was hurt and there was no word on what sparked those fires. >> and crews put out a fire at a

new by constructed home in manayunk. the fire started on the roof around 2:00 a.m. no one was hurt. an investigation into the cause is under way at this hour. >> happening this weekend the temple owls take on the fighting irish of notre dame. here is a live look at the linc which will host the sold out crowd tomorrow night. adding to the excitement temple is undefeated, the best season start ever. monique braxton is live at independence mall with more on the preparations for the game. good morning, monique. >> reporter: hey, vai. market street is shut down for the biggest showdown ever in temple university's history. look at the street now. the last time we saw this huge stage was when the pope was here. philadelphia is embracing the temple owls as they take on notre dame's fighting irish. temple will defend their undefeated record. this afternoon students, parents, faculty and alumni in

with testimony from former pennsylvania governor ed rendell. fattah says both rendell and john street hired him as a photography consultant during campaigns. the defense believes it legitimizes his businesses. he is accused of bank and tax fraud. fattah jr. is the son of chalka fattah. the congressman is married to nbc 10's renee chenault-fattah. >> new information this morning, a judge acquitted a best man accused of assaulting a police officer during a wedding brawl. the acquittal came after a three-hour non-jury trial. the brawl in october 2012 broke out after a post-wedding party at the sheridan society hill. this video of the incident went viral. a guest charged in the brawl was sentenced to two years probation after pleading guilty to assault charges. and a tip of the cap last night for some of philadelphia's finest. the fraternal order of police honored several officers for

going beyond the call of duty. it thanked the game stop corporation for generosity toward the family of murdered sergeant robert wilson. game stop donated $50,000 to officer wilson's family, wilson was killed during a robbery at a game stop in north philadelphia this past march. >> wilson was in full uniform when he went in to buy a birthday gift for his son. he died in the shoot-without two men who walked in to rob the place. the two are garbaged with murder. >> next, running for cover. we'll show you new video of a biker gang brawl that landed 200 people behind bars. >> 51 degrees right now, and you might notice in this shot that the wind is blowing a bit. that is a northwesterly wind at 5:36, also bringing our temperatures down. most of the area is in the 40s.

5:39 and clear outside. definitely chillier this morning than yesterday. we were in the 60s at this time yesterday. it is 15 degrees cooler which puts us at 48 degrees right now. and the wind is blowing too. the gusts for pottstown, top 20 miles an hour, up to 24 miles an hour in the pocono mountains. that's dry air coming in. i don't expect to see activity today on the radar screen. and most of the weekend should be completely dry. halloween is looking good. showers are to our northwest. and, in texas believe it or not, this system is what could bring us wet weather over the weekend and early next week. 49 this afternoon for mount pocono, but a bit warmer for allentown and reading, upper 50s this afternoon with mostly sunny skies. bright sunshine for trenton, mount holly and doylestown all in the upper 50s. sunny at the shore.

problems, we still have eight minutes from 29 to the schuylkill expressway. watch for that ongoing construction around that trooper road area. watch out later this evening for some stadium traffic at the wells fargo center. 76ers have a game, the doors open at 6:00 p.m. >> from south philadelphia to the middle east, new jersey man learns his punishment for trying to join isis. >> plus, duck and cover. bullets fly and bikers hit the deck. the just released video of a brawl that led to dozens of arrests. >> and a tough 10-year-old takes on a shark. the shark bit him on wednesday and he is expected back at school next week. amazing. we'll hear what he had to say about that scary attack. with cancer, early detection can mean life or death.

>> newly released surveillance video showing bullets flying as bikers ran for cover during a deadly brawl in waco, texas, and what you're watching took place back in may. nine people were killed that day when two rival bike gangs clashed on the patio of this restaurant. authorities charged 177 people after the shoot-out. >> we have new information about the canadian whale watching boat. crews lifted the hull so the

name is clearly visible above the water line. they also recovered electronic gear from the ship. canada's transportation safety board is continuing its investigation each though its crews left the scene. searchers will continue to look for a sixth passenger who has been missing since a wave toppled the boat on sunday. officials have ordered more evacuations as the gentleman brawler fire continues in southern california. open the ground and from the sky crews are fighting the flames burning part of the national forest. air teams are dropping water and fire retardant on the smoldering trees. happening today a wake for corey jones, he was shot and killed by a police officer in palm beach gardens, florida. jones pulled off to an interstate ramp when a police officer out of uniform pulled over to vest gate. the officer says jones had a gun so he shot him. the fbi is investigating. the funeral is tomorrow.

reverend sharpton will give the eulogy there. a north jersey man admitted to conspiring to support isis. 23-year-old alafuda pleaded guilty, his brother and two others are charged. he bought a plane ticket for his brother to join isis. he faces up to 20 years in prison. sentencing is set for february. >> and a philadelphia mother charged with planning to join isis is scheduled to go to trial next june. she reportedly went by the name young lioness. investigators say she allegedly bought plane tickets to join the terror group and posted support for isis on twitter. >> and this morning we're hearing from a 10-year-old boy who was seriously hurt in a shark attack off the coast of hawaii. raymond was body boarding on wednesday when the shark bit him in the thigh. swimmers say he was about 60 yards offshore at the time of

the attack. ray monday says he was scared but amazingly the pain wasn't that bad. >> the shark come out of nowhere, then started kicking. >> so cute too. raymond will continue to recover over the weekend. he will trurn school on monday. shark warning signs have been posted throughout the area since the attack. and a record number of sharks, many great whites, swimming off the coast of california. scientists say may be an indicator that el nino conditions are hitting the region. they say none of the animals highgrated the last two winters suggesting the water temperatures are staying a bit warmer, even a slight rise means more food for the sharks and more sharks staying put. 13 minutes before 6:00. it was unusually warm yesterday, you won't see that repeated today. we will see sunshine, skies are

clear, a bit of a breeze but that's a cool breeze, the numbers dropped into the very low 40s in the mountains. 50 in trenton and wilmington is 48. and a little bit to make it feel chillier. that's a dry wind so that is not going to give us cloud cover, any sign of showers, not for today at least. that may change over the weekend. 50 right now in trenton, wilmington is 58 degrees. northeast philadelphia is 48, some 50s right along the delaware river. but inland 46 in doylestown right now. middle 40s for quakertown and sunshine will warm the temperatures up, just a few scattered clouds at the shore, most of the rest of the saer completely in the clear. but look to the west, this cloud cover that arrives on sunday. and there is a chance of light showers on sunday. the heavy rainfall will miss us but we'll see the clouds arrive over the weekend. the future cast shows that rainfall willble on the move

into the midwest by first thing saturday morning. saturday morning will be cold but during the day we'll see spotty clouds, no sign of showers. later on sunday that is the best chance of seeing showers in the area. then we get a rain chance for monday as well. today, sunglasses and a jacket to start with. upper 50s to near 60 degrees this afternoon. northwest winds at 15 miles an hour with some higher gusts. tomorrow we'll start at 37 but warm during the day to 58. and in the 50s for the temple owls game and halloween trick-or-treaters. for the walk to the defeat als sunday morning there is a slight chance of a shower, otherwise clouds and sunshine. if you get to that event or any event early on sunday it's probably because you forgot to turn the clocks back. a rain chance on monday. look at the warm-up for tuesday, wednesday and thursday. >> thank you for the reminder,

bill. a lot going on this weekend. halloween, the temple game, day light saving, everyone needs to remember that. we will. >> also remembering what it looks like there, what have you got, the schuylkill? >> yes, we're around the boulevard. typically around the 7:00 hour but we're still about an hour and 10 minutes away from that stoxt show you what we're still in good spirits around the boulevard, no problems. see the delay in this camera shot. both drive times pretty much the same. still 12 minutes so no problems in or out of center city. that's until about 6:00 a.m. watch for crews and cleanup.

42, no problem. northbound, southbound, to the walt witman, no problems into philadelphia. the rest of the area bridges are also clear. >> thanks. a local animal shelter is expanding and that means more room for pets looking for tomorrows. the camden county board completed an expansion of the animal shelter in gloucester township, room for additional 30 dogs and 50 cats, also a new adoption wing. >> the expanded facility has a dedicated area where potential owners can interact and more space for the cats and dogs to run around. they kept the care of the animals in mind. >> we made so it we aring respectful to the animals. and they deserve that and we want them to feel safe while they are in our home and then we can't wait to place them into loving families homes.

>> the shelter will offer educational programs on the humane treatment of the animals for school age kids and adults. >> a louisiana photographer is gaining national attention for her photos. >> usually a photo bomb ruins pictures. turns them into something. the special guest is this deer named maggie. she first noticed her in the background aching the family photo and then the deer walked up to the kids. how about that. >> each the sleeping baby. now appearing in more than five photo shoots. >> amazing to look back at a picture and just, that she represented not only participated and not something that was in the background but up so close and calm. maggie is welcome in any of the pictures whenever she shows up.

a philadelphia boy is on the mend after what his family believed was a case of devine intervention. >> this is pretty amazing. a 3-year-old walked away after falling two stories out of a window and landing right on top of a picture of the last supper of christ. the family sent us a photo of the picture that he landed on. here it is. he was outside the home in point breeze when the boy pushed through the window and fell. the boy suffered only a bruised arm. the family calls it a miracle. we're not sure why the picture was outside the house but they moved it back inside as a result of what happened. >> glamour magazine selected its women of the year, and caitlyn jenner is among them. the magazine selected actress reese witherspoon for the cover. this is the 25th year glamour celebrated the achievements of

women in entertainment, fashion, politics and business. it hits news stands november 10. caitlyn jenner is one of those pictured on the fold-out covers. the honor comes less than a year after she came out as a transgender woman. >> among the other honorees are five women touched by the south carolina church massacre. women of the year will be honored november 9 at carnegie hall. >> a high school in california is embracing a student as she becomes its first transgender cheerleader. she started her sophomore year as henry but realized she was meant to be a girl. after she made the cheer leading squad she was surprised when her gender identity was not an issue for her coach. >> i'm thinking they had the idea i was going to wear the guy uniforms. i contacted my coach like hey, what's the problem wearing the skirt. nothing, the price will change. >> the teenager also received support from the school staff

who raised money to help her pay for her cheer uniform. >> a young boy needing a hand so he went to the library and printed one. collin was born with short fingers on his left hand, did research about 3d printers. his mom downloaded plans for a hand. they used the wilmington library's free 3-d printer. they put all of the pieces together, and they created a working hand. >> i'll be a righty. you can't really change that. yeah, eventually i'll be able to work with them pretty much equally. >> how about that. and now some penn state students working on a glove that will allow him to move each finger individually. i have a hard time printing, just a document. collin goes to the library and hint-of-prints a newhan.
