in our region today? i am rosemary connors. it's 6:00 on this sunday. let's get to our forecast with first alert meteorologist, michelle grossman. >> looks like we are going to break the record once again. 65 was the record and 46 is normal for this time of year. looks like today we may be a couple degrees closer, closer to 71. we are waking up to mostly cloudy skies, and we're going to see a mixture of sun and clouds throughout the day and we are also seeing the fog in place. we have seen in place, what, the past five days, and here this morning and going to be here tomorrow so keep that in mind as you head out tomorrow. 48 degrees in allentown, and 45 degrees in lancaster, and south and east, temperatures near 60 degrees in atlantic city, and 54 in mild wood and 55 degrees in dover, delaware.
we are seeing reduced visibilities as well, and down to a quarter mile in lancaster, and four-mile visibility in northeast philadelphia, and down to 2 1/2 miles in millville, new jersey. we will be warm by later on this afternoon. lunchtime into the upper 60s, and lots of people having lunch outdoors, and by 4:00, partly sunny skies, and 68 degrees. a warm day today, probably a record-breaker, and we could break another day on monday and we are expecting the mild air to stick around and seeing umbrella weather on monday, and we'll talk about that coming up. new from overnight, police tell us two children took an unexpected ride with a car thief in camden county. the thief led officers on a chase to magnolia, and the thief flipped the car in the front car
of a yard. patrol cruisers chased the stolen vehicle and the car struck a black suv injuring the driver and she's in the hospital right now and the stolen car rolled through the front house of this house in magnolia and turned over. and also new from overnight, police in the pocono mountains shot and killed a man inside a walmart. state police say a man walked into the store with a weapon and threatened customers, and police shot the man and the man died at the hospital, and we just learned that nobody else inside that walmart was hurt. take a look at the aftermath of a fire that ripped through a house in franklin township, gloucester county. nbc was on the scene on dog wood avenue. there were no hydrants nearby. there are no reports of anybody hurt and no word yet on a cause in this case.
police holding a man on child sex abuse charges because they suspect he is in the country illegally. police in woodbury alerted officials about the arrest of morales who is from guatemala. a teacher in woodbury was first to learn about the alleged abuse. campos morales is being held on $500,000 bail. we have new information about the identity of a teenager who was found dead inside a car in north philadelphia. police say the vehicle uteenage found in the backseat of a broken-down car. police are still investigating. a fight at a motel in north
philadelphia sent one woman to the hospital and another behind bars. police say an argument at the liberty motel on germantown avenue yesterday morning led to a woman slashing the face of a 52-year-old housekeeper. police have arrested the woman. the victim is in stable condition. this is not the first incident at this motel. according to documents obtained by nbc10, from 2004 to 2014 there have been more than 100 arrests for prostitution and 20 deaths, many of which are drug related. a fugitive wanted for a murder in camden is now under arrest in florida. lopez and another suspect are charged with killing a man during a robbery. police arrested lopez in deltona, florida, on friday. he is accused of robbing a manned in a holdup. if you ride septa's regional
rails, it says it wants to enhance service reliability so made schedule changes on all the regional lines, and the airport line will no longer continue through service to some stops on weekdays. we could be in for another week of haggling in harrisburg over the pennsylvania budget. legislators split last week over approving a package of budget items. state aid has been cut off to schools. negotiations in the house are expected to resume tonight on a $30 billion budget that is likely to include tax hikes. neck, presidential candidate donald trump continues his war

we start out the weekend with a record-breaking temperature of 69 degrees, and today probably closer to 71. 46, that's normal for this time of year. way above normal. a live look. we are looking at the linc and the eagles are playing at 1:00, and it looks to be a great weather day for the game, not december like or football like, but nice if you are headed to the game or maybe you are just going to enjoy watching it from home. and temperatures compared to this time yesterday, and we
started out nine yesterday, and still nine degrees warmer than 24 hours ago. temperatures right now, they are mainly in the 40s and 50s to the north and west, and looking at the upper 40s. around the city we are looking at temperatures in the mid-50s. 58 degrees in kent square. 49 in pottstown, and 45 in lancaster, and 48 in oxford. south and east, we are warmer than that. 57 at the atlantic city airport, and 55 in dover, delaware. for today, plan on that morning fog. we are looking at reduced visibilities, and that will burn off over the next couple of hours, and then another record-breaker. we are going to continue the warmth tomorrow and also bringing in showers and tracking 40s in our 7-day. we are talking more about that coming up. from the campaign trail,
donald trump is now criticizing a u.s. supreme court justice. the republican presidential candidate offered his views at a town hall in south carolina last night. trump called chief justice, john roberts, a disappointment for supporting obamacare. on the flip side, he praised thomas for being consistent in his rulings. >> executive action can be de-funded, whatever you want to call it, it can be unsigned so quickly by the new president. >> he will join his rivals for a fifth debate on tuesday in las vegas. gop white house candidate marco rubio will sit down with chuck todd on nbc's "meet the press," and that comes your way this morning at 10:30 here on nbc10.
in the san bernardino terror attack, authorities say they may have overlooked a call for violence on social media by one of the shooters. as investigators search a lake for evidence, they say tashfeen malik posted support for a violent jihad before she got her visa to come to the u.s. nbc news learned that malik and her husband, syed farook, were radicalized as early as 2010. the couple killed 14 people at farook's workplace earlier this month before dying in a shoot-out. and then a stark global pact. delegates clapped, cheered and

lots of folks turning to online shopping and fedex and ups are struggling to keep up the demand. it seems just about everyone is ditching the mall and shopping online this holiday season. shoppers spend an estimated $4.45 billion on line according to adobe systems incorporated. but the sharp uptick on online shopping is putting pressure to ups and fedex to deliver ontime. both companies are already struggling with deliveries because of the online shopping. ups is looking to avoid the delays of christmas 2013 when its system was so overloaded it couldn't deliver everything

spring once again. fog this morning, reducing visibilities in some spots down to three quarters of a mile. we are looking at the potential of another record breaker. good chance we are going to beat it. we will evened up around 70, 71 degrees. another mild day. a cold front will come through on monday and lead to cooler air on tuesday. winds are out of the west-southwest at 3 miles per hour. three degrees warmer than this time yesterday, and some spots 10 degrees warmer and we were mild yesterday. yesterday 69, and that was a record, and today probably closer to 70, 71, and the average for this time of year is 46 degrees. temperatures across the area, they are very, very mild to the north and west, and we're mainly in the 40s, but the upper 40s, 55 in mt. pocono, and 48 degrees in allentown, and 49 this morning in pottstown, and 54 in
philadelphia, and south and east, we have the upper 40s and 50s, 57 at the atlantic city airport. so warm today, by 9:00, 58 degrees, and into the 60s by lunchtime and upper 60s at that point, 66. we will top out around 71, and then we will dip back into the afternoon, and then by tonight we will see temperatures in the 50s, and staying put in the 50s in the city and 40s north and west. another mild night tonight before that changes as well. still dark, but we are waking up to mostly cloudy skies and seeing a mixture of sun and clouds as we go throughout the day. the big story is the mild air in place. tonight, 50s and 40s, 40s to the north and west, and then monday we are going to have upper 60s, so mild air still in place, but we have a lot more cloud cover on monday and then the showers coming in especially in the afternoon to evening hours. your monday evening commute, yeah, you could be seeing showers. tuesday morning, you could see a
leftover shower and then you will see a mixture of sun and clouds as you go throughout the day. eagles play at 1:00, and fourth quarter, 68 degrees, and winds are going to be light. tonight temperatures into the 50s, right around 56 degrees in philadelphia. 54 or 55. winds will be light once again, and we are going to see a night like tonight and then wake up to fog in place. 71 today, and by monday still in the upper 60s, showers come in especially in the afternoon to evening hours, and tuesday we are going to see that sunshine coming back, a mixture of sun and clouds, and mostly sunny skies by the afternoon, and windy, 63, so feeling like the upper 50s, and then thursday we're going to have a rainy day, periods of rain throughout the day, 59. that's going to set up for a day for a cold day on friday, and wind in place so feeling like

delaware, south and east, temperatures near 60 degrees and in some spots, 57. atlantic city, 57. and fog is in place, and down to three-mile visibility in reading. we will see this fog over the next couple of hours, and we will see the warm air all day long. by 9:00, partly sunny skies and 58. lunchtime, 67. somewhere in between we will hit a high of 68 degrees. eventually tonight another mild night, 50s and monday a mild day, but we are tracking some showers. we will talk more about that coming up. police tell us two children took an unexpected ride with a car thief in camden, county. the they have led officers on a chase from autobahn to magnolia.
nbc10 was in magnolia where the thief flipped the car. the thief swiped the vehicle while the owner was in the liquor store this morning. two kids were in the backseat. the car struck a black suv and injured the driver, and she is now in the hospital. the stolen car then rolled through the front yard of this home in magnolia and turned over. two people are recovering this morning after being stabbed at a bar in mannien bg overnight. both victims are in stable condition right now and police have arrested a suspect in this case. imagine waking up to this. a fire ripped through the house in franklin township and gloucester overnight. the flames spread just before 2:00 this morning. crews had to bring in water tankers to fight the fires since
there were no hydrants nearby. there was no word yet on a cause. five firefighters catching a break after their fire truck caught fire. members were returning from a nonfire call last night when the flames erupted near their engine. the fire spread so quickly the crew had to rush off the truck before they could radio for help. responding units were able to get the flames under control and all the firefighters are expected to be okay. investigators are now looking into what may have sparked the flames. police in gloucester county are holding a man on child sex assault charges because they believe he is in the u.s. illegally. police in woodbury alerted federal officials about morales on friday. authorities suspect he may be in the u.s. illegally. he assaulted a child under the age of 16 this year and last, and a teacher in woodbury was

about 50 homes. one woman caught the cell phone video of a funnel cloud and there was little warning about the severity of the storm before tornado alarms been the off right before it hit herrer aeur. >> it was cool watching it build-up but i was scared. >> fortunately that woman's home was not one of the homes damaged. nobody was hurt in the storm. the mayor declared the city a disaster area. nothing like that happening here. looking at very warm air today, and yesterday we set a record and today probably another record, and i think we will end up about 70, 71. today will be a beautiful day for an eagles game. a mixture of sun and clouds and

on fire. karl dial that you see right here is being held on $150,000 bail. according to investigators he set the fire friday afternoon at the mosque, and the fire was contained to the lobby and nobody was hurt. police arrested dial that night. he is accused of burglary, arson and a hate crime. the mosque is about 75 miles away from the san bernardino shooting on december 2nd. back here at home a muslim community coming together in the face of hate. we showed you the surveillance video earlier in the week. you can see somebody inside the car throwing a pig's head at the door steps of the mosque in north philly, and muslims see this as a bad thing. neighbors of the mosque tell us embracing and understanding the muslim faith and culture is the best way to drive out hate.
>> it's a community, and we wanted to show that we are in solidarity, and acts like this are attempts to divide and will only bring the community together to be stronger. >> folks also say they hope this support will discourage any other crimes targeting this house of worship. new information on a home invasion in south philadelphia. what we are learning about the three masked men that kicked in the door and who they pretended to be. that's coming up. >> end the violence. >> hundreds take to the streets in philadelphia to protest gun violence this weekend. we will tell you about their mission and what they hope to achieve.
investigators say three masked men pretended to be police officers when they kicked in the door of this house on almond street in southwest philadelphia. the intruders tied up a 19-year-old man and stole the cell phone of an 18-year-old woman that lived here. police tracked down the cell phone and three men, and eventually police released the three men pending the investigation in the case. investigators have not given any more details. marching to end gun violence. that's how hundreds of people in philadelphia marked the third anniversary of the sandy hook shootings in newtown, connecticut. the group had the mission of ending the deaths of 88 people taken by gun violence everyday.
this is one of hundreds of walks held around the nation this weekend. the bills keep adding up in the jersey jam bridge scandal. the new total about $8 million. a law firm build new jersey about $200,000 from may through august of this year contributing to that total. the firm was hired to defend new jersey governor, chris christie and others from legal challenges stemming from the scandal over the lane closures on the gw bridge in 2013. christie has never been charged in the case. the warmer than usual weather is drawing plenty of people outside. some are grabbing last-minute christmas trees and others are doing holiday shopping. yesterday temperatures hit close to 70. the annual santa run usually sees snow this year, and many santas decided to wear shorts. >> it's 65 degrees and it's
beautiful out. >> today it should be, like, a little cold but it's hot. >> it was a rare december day to ditch the gloves and the jackets and it looks like we are going to see a repeat of the warm weather today. >> announcer: now, your nbc10 first alert weather. >> yeah, definitely a warm day yesterday. 69, that's the number we reached. we broke a record of 65, and 46 in normal for this time of year so we are well above that normal. we are going to be well above that number once again today and probably topping up around 61 degrees. we do have 40s back in the 7-day. we are dealing with fog this morning, and reduced visibilities down across the area down to a quarter of amile in some spots. and we are looking for a chance for another record-breaker this afternoon into the 70s, a really nice afternoon. monday showers, and we are going to see rain later in the day. your evening commute could be impacted by rain. right now 53 and fog in place,
and winds out of the west-southwest at 3 miles per hour. we started out ending the week warm, and yesterday 69 and today we will be closer to 70, 71 degrees. looking at temperatures in the 40s and 50s right now, and upper 50s too and close to 60 in some spots. 49 in reading, and 49 in pottstown, and 53 in philadelphia, and south and east, 15 in millville, and 54 in dover and 54 degrees in wildwood. look at what happens as we go throughout the rest of the morning into the afternoon. 9:30, close to 60 at that point. into the mid and upper 60s by 12:30 and i am sure a lot of people will enjoy the outdoors today with nice skies, too. light winds and temperatures into the 70s. by 4:30, back into the 60s and then tonight we will eventually drop into the 50s and the 40s north and west. we are going to wake up to fog once again on monday morning.
a live look outside, we are cloudy and dark still a little bit, and also looking at mostly cloudy skies and looking at fog across the area and that's reducing the visibilities, especially to the south. future weather, mild air, a mixture of sun and clouds and maybe a little more cloud cover to the north and west and tonight mostly cloudy skies and light winds. temperatures around 54 in philadelphia, and 40s to the north and west. and then monday, a little change compared to what we have seen the past couple of days. more clouds and then we are starting to see showers coming in and eventually rain later on, and by 7:00, green over spreading the map here, just rain over spreading the area. a cold front will move through and it's going to drop temperatures a little bit on tuesday, and then even by midnight, early tuesday, we are still seeing showers especially north and west and that will move through and then give us 60s on tuesday. but for today, topping out around 71 degrees after the early fog burns off, and we will
