this is nbc 10 news first alert weather. >> it is a first alert weather day. you can see light snow and rain this morning. here's a live picture from newark, delaware, where the most accumulation will be on grassy areas. >> and watch out for icy roads this morning as you're driving to work or school. katy zachry is driving around in stormforce 10 giving you a firsthand look at the roads this morning. today is the day, the nation's first primary has been going on since midnight.
it is 6:00 a.m., "nbc 10 news today," i'm tracy davidson. >> i'm vai sikahema. it is a first alert weather day. our first alert is in effect until tonight. our team is stressing that there could be icy spots on the roads. watch for school closings and delays at the bottom of your screen. >> we have team coverage, nbc 10's katy zachry and jessica boyington are keeping an eye on the roads for your commute. nbc 10's matt delucia is live in delaware and first alert meteorologist bill henley is tracking the storm so you know how much snow to expect in your neighborhood. >> tracy, it is a first alert weather day as you mentioned. periods of snow during the day today. right now, it's limited to delaware where it's mixing with rain. we did have some scattered snow showers overnight and the temperatures have dropped. be on the lookout for icy spots this morning. some slipping and sliding has already been reported. and at the coast, another round
of flooding unfortunately in delaware and south jersey. high tide between 7:30 and 8:30 this morning. right now, dry in philadelphia. you don't have to look far to find light snow falling in central new castle county. it's mixing with rain in delaware and south jersey. very light to start with. not really making progress to the north just yet. it is wet, rain coming down in cape may. the biggest threat of the shore, however, will be the flooding just some scattered light showers in the atlantic city area at this time. look at the temperatures, just below freezing in pottstown, trenton, mt. holly, 31 degrees. it's dry in these areas right now. it wasn't overnight. we did see scattered showers. you'll see accumulation on some of the cars and maybe on grassy surfaces. during the day, clouds will start producing snow in philadelphia as we go into the afternoon hours. you might see a few snowflakes mainly to the south at 8:00.
33 degrees. in spite of clouds, upper 30s at 11:00 and 2:00 this afternoon. a lot of the snow will be melting as it comes down. that will limit how much we get from this system as it moves through. we'll go through the forecast neighborhood by neighborhood when i'm back in ten minutes. jessica boyington has your traffic. jesse? >> this is around the schuylkill expressway on the blue route no delays or backups yet. we have speeds averaged in the 60s, 15-minute trip southbound from the schuylkill to 95. no delays yet. here's route 202, pretty much the same story. you can see the roadways are highlighted in green, northbound, southbound, from 30 to the schuylkill expressway. also still in the 60s, maybe just dropping down to the 50s. no big delays, 11 minutes from the schuylkill, the 30 at the least for right now. route 70 in cherry hill, new jersey around kings highway. looking shiny through the intersection. everybody is moving along just fine. watch for the slippier spots they may come up on you quickly. speed restrictions as well on
the area bridges because of the weather related issues, commodore barry, ben and betsy down to 35 miles an hour. the walt is nice and clear heading into philadelphia. our team coverage continues in delaware where we're seeing snow showers this morning. >> nbc 10's matt delucia is live in newark. what's it like, matt? >> well, tracy and vai, we have seen the light flurries pick up a little bit more in the past 30 minutes here, starting to see more prominent flurry activity here in delaware. brute as we see on east main street in newark, mostly just wet road as we see more vehicles heading out on to the roadways right now. deldot says it's been workingç overnight to make sure the major roads and highways are safe this morning. the crews have been putting down the brine solution. they've been doing that all day yesterday into the night. one important note, d.a.r.t. transit service are plating on a normal schedule today. keep that in mine. you should expect minor delays if that snow starts to accumulate. once that does, you may see delays on the transit services.
some snow covered vehicles out here right now. we did see snowfall overnight that did accumulate. you see that truck right over there had some snow on it as well. you might need the snow brush as you head out the door this morning. some slick spots, mostly on the side streets and bridges and overpasses. be aware of that. there is ice out there. the crews have been trying to put done the brine solution to make sure things are as safe as possible. we've seen plow trucks, not with the plow downs, of course, they have been apatroli inin ining t. live in newark, delaware, matt delucia, nbc 10 news. >> nothing plowable right now but first alert meteorologist bill henley says icy spots is what you should be watching for this morning. >> katy zachry is in stormforce 10 for an up-close look at the roads. katy, tell us where you are. allentown it looks like. it looks like accumulation on the cars but not on the roads.
>> yes. i was going to say, look to the left and right of your screen as we make our way down the heart of allentown. it's probably less than an inch, a quarter inch of accumulation on car windshields and hoods. you are going to want to be equipped with your snow scraper if you go out. we're noticing and hearing reports of moisture north and west of philadelphia. those are areas where the temperature is hovering around 30 here in allentown. it's registering for me just below 30. so some light moisture that moves through the area over the next little bit could very well freeze on surfaces, especially sidewalks and driveways. be careful as you're headed out this morning. it might not be the snow accumulation you thought it would be but it is still making for some potentially hazardous conditions. i checked in with septa for those commuters in and around the philadelphia area and suburbs. right now there are no service alerts or interruptions. travelers are advised to be
cautious when you're getting on and off of trolleys, buses and trains. penndot going into the system moving in last night and through the morning. they had hundreds of trucks throughout the area, plows and salt trucks ready to attack it, especially because we know from just a few days ago when weather hits during the morning commute it can make for dicey situations. no reported issues because of the ice. that doesn't mean you're in the clear by any means if you're up in the lehigh valley. well take a drive south and see what the conditions are on the northeast extonight as we head south toward plymouth meeting. if you live in philadelphia, there will be no trash or recycling pickup today. if tuesday is your normal day you'll have to wait until next week to put out your trash. in atlantic city, residents moved their cars to higher ground last night because of the threat of more flooding. a new moon combined with onshore winds is expected to push water from the back bay into
neighborhoods. places like west wildwood saw serious tidal flooding yesterday morning. water damaged homes and businesses as well as cars and trucks. neighbors had still cleaning up from the january blizzard. our first alert is in effect until tonight just so you're prepared. get weather updates all day with the nbc 10 app no matter where you are. that's also where we have school closings and delay s listed rigt now. there's about a handful of them. now your nbc 10 first alert weather with meteorologist bill henley. eight minutes after 6:00. the temperatures have been dropping overnight. we did see some spotty showers, too. be on the lookout for icy spots. you heard katy zachry talking about, i'm tracking rain and snow. for now it's in delaware, trying to squeak into south jersey. it will linger during the morning hours. it's just light and with temperatures above freezing that will limit any accumulation. coastal flooding still a big threat for this morning between times of high tide, 7:30 and 8:30.
now, 21 degrees in mt. pocono. it's dry there. they've been making snow in the mountains. trenton is 29. snow during the day. it's a rain/snow mix, though. the temperature has just bumped up to 36 degrees. that ill, the problem for accumulation during the day. the temperatures will be getting warmer. in the pocono mountains, it's cold enough for snow making. that's worth taking advantage of. they're not going to get a lot of snow out of this one in the mountains. radar shows snow and rain to the south. matt delucia shows the first snowflakes in newark. you see just a little activity showing up on the radar there. it's steadier to the south. this is where you're seeing a rain/snow mix for dover with temperatures at 36 degrees. it's trying to move into south jersey but right now it's just very light precipitation in cumberland county. we've seen rain this morning in cape may. the temperatures, 20s for pottstown, trenton at 29 degrees, right at the freezing mark for northeast philadelphia and wrightstown, below freezing
for blue bell, lafayette hill and glenside. go further north and west you're more likely to find the icy spots. her by hour forecast at 9:00, not everybody is getting rain or snow at that point but it starts to creep into pennsylvania. steadier showers in delaware will continue into the late morning hours. really isn't until we get into "fáhe afternoon that we see the snow spreads to the north and during the evening commute as we're heading into it, we will see snowfall. the other big element to this is temperatures. along with the snow moving into the area, the temperatures will be moving up, even north and west. at 2:00 this afternoon, just above freezing for limerick, 38 degrees in newtown. the snow moving into montgomery and bucks county and then at 4:30 this afternoon, the snow will be coming down and grassy surfaces especially will see the highest accumulation. you'll have to watch out for sl slippery spots. just above freezing in norristown. cold enough in limerick for some
slippery spots and accumulation and as we go into the evening hours by midnight tonight, most of the snow is coming to an end. by the time it's said and done, by tomorrow morning, up to an inch in southern delaware and at the jersey shore inland, more likely to find 1 to 3 inches of snow. we're still watching an area that could develop for heavier snowfalls in the western suburbs, possibly into new castle county and delaware. farther north you'll wind up with less snow from this one. full seven-day forecast with a big change for the weekend when i'm back in ten minutes. >> thank you, bill. 6:11. we're just getting word of an accident in montgomery county. >> first alert traffic reporter jessica boyington has an update. what do you know about this accident? >> this is fresh and new into our system. not a lot of details. we just know exactly where it is, cheltenham, greenwood avenue and west church road. updates for you to come if we have any. route 309 around susquehanna road. all traffic moving nicely.
drive times are still up there. this is the garden state parkway, heading out into upper township for the cape may toll plaza. you can see that right in here. not a lot of vehicles traveling through at this time. that's okay. we see wet roadways there as well. watch out for the slippery spots. woodbine, new jersey, watch out for new road construction, a layout that's with just put into place, starting yesterday on route 50 around 49. vai? >> thank you, jessica. voters in the first in the nation primary state of new hampshire have had their say now. >> the unexpected republican winner in the tiny town of dixville notch, plus how long voting took for the town. and chairs scattered, glass shattered. it's not the cruise vacation people signed up for. coming up at 6:30, hear passengers describe their rough ride.
it's 6:11ç and 31 degrees. a first alert weather day is in effect until tonight. as we take a live look at the radar and stormforce 10. nbc 10's katy zachry is in stormforce 10. first alert meteorologist bill henley says icy spots could be a problem this morning. we'll get an update from bill and first alert traffic reporter jessica boyington in just minutes. breaking news from overseas. two trains have crashed head on in southern germany. at least eight people are dead, 150 others are hurt. it took emergency crews several hours to rescue all the survivors from the wreckage. german police said rescue efforts were made more difficult because the crash happened in a region that was very inaccessible. and new this morning, kenya says it is considering pulling out of the rio olympics due to concerns over the zeke qua
virus. the u.s. olympic committee denies that it cold its athletes to skip the 2016 summer games over fears of the virus. the brazilian government is recommending pregnant women stay away since they are most at risk. now to decision 2016. the new hampshire primary is under way. >> the voting began at midnight. the town of dixville notch, population of 9, continued its tradition after voting as soon as primary day begins. the community is near the canadian border. the balloting took about 30 sections. as you can see, john kasich topped the republican vote 3-2 over donald trump. and meanwhile, bernie sanders swept the four democratic ballots. mark your calendar if you live in pennsylvania or delaware. april 26th is when you'll vote in the primary. if you live in new jersey you'll be voting in the primary on june 7th. and june is the final month for the primaries.

delayed. here's route 73 right around the atlantic city expressway over in new jersey, no problems on either roadway. we'll more updates when i come back in the next ten. now your nbc 10 first alert weather with meteorologist bill henley. >> 19 minutes after 6:00. it's cold enough for snow, so far clouds over philadelphia after a few scattered showers overnight. it's those showers that could threaten us with icy spots this morning. 32 degrees currently in philadelphia. much of the area is colder. the tarp is ready, the lincoln financial field is waiting for the snow. they'll have to wait for a while. at the shore, another round of coastal flooding, delaware and south jersey. coastal flood warning until 1:00 this afternoon. even inland, possible flooding along the delaware river. as far as timing for delaware, rehoboth, just after 8:00, high tide. that's when we're more likely to see flooding.
cape may, 8:16 and the back bays a bit later. the atlantic city high tide of 7:42. some moderate flooding is a possibility again today. be on the lookout for that. it's going to happen as wet weather is moving in. for now, it's stalled in delaware and south jersey. barely moving into new jersey. it's a rain/snow mix being reported in the dover area with 36 degrees. light snow now reaching into northern new castle county. rain and snow at the jersey shore. it's been a steady rain this morning in cape may. for philadelphia, delaware conte, you'll see the rain develop this morning at 8:00. excuse me, snow developing this morning at 8:00, just some very light snow with the temperature of 31 degrees. that could add to the slipping and sliding that some areas have already reported this morning. then it gets quiet as we head into the noontime hour. this afternoon the snow returns but with temperatures well above
freezing. that's going to limit the snow totals. we're expecting 1 to 3 inches in philadelphia. there's still an area to the west that could see more than that. stay tuned. periods of snow, not so much this morning but more so this afternoon. that's when the steadier snow will be in the area. but with temperatures in the upper 30s and low 40s, a lot of that will be melting as it comes down. we'll say so long for the snow and rain for wednesday but then gusty winds, here comes the cold heading into the weekend. thursday, 29 degrees. by friday morning, dropping down into the teens. and then bitter cold, frigid conditions this weekend, teens for high temperatures saturday and sunday. sunday is valentine's day. we could start at 3 degrees in philadelphia. fortunately finally, some warming on monday. a chance of showers will more likely tend to the rain side. there's a long way before weç t there. >> again, right now our focus is just the potential for ice. >> icing this morning, slippier spots. we've heard some reports of

6:25. 6:26 this tuesday morning. a live look right now at newark, delaware. a first alert weather day until tonight because of the wintry weather. a little bit of snow that fell overnight in new castle county could make for slick spots out there. be careful. deldot says it's working to make sure major roads and highways are safe. in pennsylvania, hundreds of trucks and plows are ready to go. penndot tells us it's ready with salt. during an average winter it uses more than 80 tons of salt. last month's blizzard dug into a third of that amount. penndot tells us each plow trucks takes up to three hours to complete its cycle. if you don't see a truck immediately, chances are those trucks are on their way. good morning, everyone. jessica boyington with your first alert traffic. we're just starting off in jersey right now, taking a look at drive times here from vineland to 55, 24 minutes. no problems from millville. all traffic moving nicely from
hammonton. we don't have backups, headed to the 295 area, speeds there, 41 miles an hour. heading up to the area bridges in philadelphia. we have no problems there as well. watch out for the speed restrictions on the bridges. we'll have more updates when i come back in the 6:30 time slot. but for right now, let's get a check on today's forecast with meteorologist bill henley. >> one of the big things we're watching, one of the reasons we wished a first alert is the jersey sho jersey shore and the delaware beaches. rain has been falling in cape may. between ç7:30 and 8:30 this morning, we could see another round of flooding. >> a popular restaurant turns into a crime scene in delaware. coming up in 15 minutes, more on a monday night murder at tgi friday's. and a gas station canopy collapses on to drivers filling up. look at this. we'll tell you who was on the roof when it caved.

this afternoon. the time of high tide along the jersey and delaware coast is between 7:30 and 8:30. wave heights could be between 8 and 14 feet. lets get you updated with meteorologist bill henley and his first alert forecast. >> there's a lot going on from the coast inland. we're tracking snow and rain in delaware and south jersey. periods of snow during the day. it's not going to be an all day snowfall. slipping and sliding this morning because of icy spots. there were showers overnight and temperatures have dropped at or below freezing for much of the area. treat it as if it is ice this morning. along the coast, flooding, not just at the jersey shore and delaware and beaches but also for the delaware river. jessica boyington was tracking flooding earlier today. that's a possibility again this afternoon. we have snow. it's a snow/rain mix in delaware, central and southern delaware and into cape may. the light snow is moving into where the cameras are in newark this morning.
we saw a few snowflakes to begin with and steady, light snows that extends into kent county. it's coming down heavier. this is a rain/snow mix where the rain comes together with the snow. that's happening in cape may county. it's light precipitation. the main threat at the shore is going to be flooding. right at freezing for philadelphia, wilmington and northeast philadelphia but during the day, the temperatureç will be climbing. it's really going to limit the accumulation during the day. scattered light snow showers at 8:00 and 11:00. look at the temperature difference. 38 degrees. when the steadier snow and rain moves in this afternoon, 38 degrees, most of the area will be above freezing so there's a possibility that grassy surfaces will see more accumulation but much of the rest of the area will be watching it melt as it comes down. i'll go through the forecast neighborhood by neighborhood taking a closer look at delaware and south jersey when i'm back in ten minutes. jessica boyington watching first alert traffic. >> we have an accident scene popping up in mercer county on route 1 southbound before
alexander road. addition to the accident scene, combined with a fuel spill. there's cleanup under way. we'll keep you updated. that may be out there a little longer than normal because of the cleanup. route 22 and 309, no problems here. route 42 around runnemede, average speeds are starting to drop. we're approaching the normal rush hour time. also an accident in hatfield township on forty foot road and koppel road. katy zachry is in stormforce 10 keeping an eye on the icy spots out there. >> matt delucia is live in newark, delaware, where there is already a coating of snow. let's begin with matt. >> tracy and vai, mostly that coating is on the vehicles. when you wake up this morning, head out the door, you might
have to get the snow brush and the windshields. mostly it's on the grassy surfaces or the parking meters, trash cans that we see out here on east main street. right here behind us, a lot of those vehicles, that truck to the right has snow on it. that's really the most that we've seen thus far out here. we have seen the snow pick up quite a little bit in the past hour or so. more flurries, again, no real accumulation on the ground that we've seen just yet. we've been talking about the icy surfaces, because the temperature has dipped below freezing here. a lot of those moist surfaces, west surfaces out there, you can get icing an we have seen some of these vehicles and some of the side streets spinning and sliding out there. you do need to be careful as you head out the door. deldot is trying to remind everyone to be careful as well. they've been putting the brine solution the major roads and highways. they're trying to stay ahead of the game. they tell us they are monitoring this situation right now.
they've got the plows on standby when that snow begins to fall. at this point we're in a waiting game where we're waiting for the snow so begin accumulating as bill's been talking about all morning, that changeover has been happening, mostly southç us, moving its way up to this area in new castle county. for the moment, just be careful. take extra time as you walk out the door this morning, get the snow brush ready and prepare for a few inches of snow out here in delaware. live in newark, matt delucia, nbc 10 news. >> let's get a close-up look at the roads this morning. first alert meteorologist bill henley tells us icy spots could be a real issue. >> katy zachry is driving in stormforce 10. katy? >> hi, tracy and vai. we're in coopersburg, up in the lehigh valley. we're going south on 309. it's really helpful when there are streetlights around and they glisten off of moisture on the roads.
that's one way you can get a heads up if there's an icy patch ahead. we've seen throughout our travels wet spots aen lo the road. we were on 4 76, 611, we went west toward allentown and south for a bit on the northeast extension and then we got off on 309. we traversed the area, spaefkly this area where we're expecting there are going to be issues, there would be icing issues up here. the temperature is below freezing, hovering around 30 degrees, maybe even less in some parts. especially if you're walking out to your car this morning, allow for extra time. most of the cars we've seen have that light dusting of snow on their windshield and hood. underneath that light dusting of snow, you might have a thin layer of ice. you'll need your scraper, put the defroster on. allow for extra time as you're making your way to work or school this morning. that's the latest live, up in the lehigh valley, katy zachry, nbc 10 news. >> katy is up there near allentown.
in philadelphia, no trash or recycling pickup today. if tuesday is your normal day you'll have to wait until next week to put your trash out. now your nbc 10 first alert weather with meteorologist bill henley. >> it's been a damp morning this morning at cape may. we're watching for coastal flooding. the greatest threat is an an hour away at the jersey shore at time of high tide. inland, though, we're watching for periods of snow. in fact, we're already seeing rain and snow in the area and some slipping and sliding. icy spots, the temperatures have dropped overnight. we'll be tracking periods of rain and snow during the day today. more likely you'll see it coming down during the afternoon hours. coastal flooding, that threat for the jersey shore and the delaware beaches. dover is reporting light snow/rain mix, 36 degrees. the temperature's gone up this morning. cold enough for snow but it is dry in trenton and mt. pocono.
they've been making snow in the pocono mountains. clear view açcross the delawar. low clouds but that's it so far. a brief shower overnight. some of the roads as katy zachry has been reporting are a bit damp. here comes the rain/snow mix in central delaware and into south jersey. the snow is slowly making some progress over the last couple hours, it's moved into northern delaware. you saw the light snow coming down in newark as matt delucia has been reporting. it's falling into wilmington and just starting to move into delaware county. the hour by hour forecast shows at 9:00 it continues to make slow progress. not a lot of activity this morning. it will reach philadelphia during the late morning but even more likely during the afternoon hours. that's when you see the snow start to come down. the temperatures will be climbing at that hour. hour by hour in delaware, look at the temperatures, 30s and above freezing for newark and middletown with snow coming down at 10:00, mixing with rain, especially in central delaware. tapering off in some spots.
b by 1:30 this afternoon. temperatures above freezing. it doesn't look like it will be a big threat into the afternoon hours. we'll be watching those temperatures in new jersey at 10:00 this morning, 37 degrees, light snow in salem county spreading inland to glassboro at 2:00 in the afternoon. as we go into the late afternoon hours, we'll get some breaks in the precipitation. it's not going to be an all-day snowfall. with temperatures above freezing, most of the accumulation is going to happen on grassy surfaces. so southern and central delaware, there will be a rain/snow mix of not a lot of accumulation there. 1 to 3 inches possible in philadelphia. we're still watching an area that could develop with heavier snowfall in the western suburbs, farther to the north, less accumulation and most of the accumulation with temperatures into the middle 30s and upper 30s in our area are going to be destined for those grassy surfaces. so a look at the seven-day forecast, big changes for the weekend when i come back in ten
minutes. 20 minutes before 7:00 a.m. you can use 959 in your morning commute. i promise you, it's worth your while. >> first alert traffic reporter jessica boyington has you covered. what are you seeing on 95, jessica? >> what we're seeing on 95 is those delays starting before our rush hour goes into full swing. this is right around cottman avenue, the southbound side. you can see starting to slow down significantly. the southbound drive time of 21 minutes. speeds are now down into the 30s. we're crawling almost there from woodhaven road to the vine street expressway. obviously heading into center city is where you'll see most the problems. route 1 before alexander road, an accident and fuel spill with cleanup under way. vai. wintry weather will impact your day today. another wintry storm is causing serious issues for cruise ship passengers. take a look at these pictures here. the boat was rocked when it sailed into a storm and now it'o on its way back to new jersey.

first alert meteorologist bill henley and first alert traffic reporter jessica boyington is back with an update in just a couple of minutes. a royal caribbean cruise ship is returning to new jersey after slamming into a powerful storm in the atlantic ocean. >> this video was taken by passengers on board. the cruise started saturday in bayonne, hudson county and was headed to the bahamas. they encountered 30-foot waves with winds matching a category 2 hurricane. >> my dad says this ship could crack in half. >> no injuries are reported. the damage is said to be minor. royal caribbean is promising full refunds to passengers. 6:46. police are trying to track down a killer who opened fire in a tgi friday's parking lo the in delaware. the shooting happened last night around 7:00. police responded when they got a call of shots being fired. >> looked like a bunch of cops.
they got here real fast. i'm just trying to get out of here. we've been here for like three hours. >> police interviewed about 30 workers and customers inside the restaurant. the man police are working to identify is believed to be in his late 20s. police are going through surveillance video to try and figure out what may have led up to that shooting. >> the latest on the police investigation into former eagle lesean mccoy. charges will be filed against mccoy and three others for their involvement in a nightclub brawl that sent two off-duty philadelphia police officers to the hospital. the fight started over a champagne bottle inside the recess lounge near second and market sunday morning. state inspectors in california are trying to determine if strong winds caused a canopy toç collapse at a gas station near los angeles. it was caught on a security camera. there was a car at the pump when the metal roofing came down, thankfully no one was in the car. that car was crushed. two maintenance workers were on the roof at the time. but they were not hurt.
now your nbc 10 first alert weather with meteorologist bill henley. >> 12 minutes before 7:00. it's gotten colder overnight. we did see some showers, though, even though it's dry in philadelphia, icy spots have been reported. be on the lookout. it's right at the freezing mark, 32 degrees. some of the suburbs are colder. look very closely. very closely. there's a little bit of snow coming down. you can see it in the lights as that car is passing by. just a dusting on some of the colder surfaces, the car that have been sitting out overnight while the streets are damp. we're seeing a bit of a breeze. it's an onshore flow. another round of flooding unfortunately today. the delaware beaches between 8:00 and 9:00, the high tides for cape may at 8:16. the back bay's later, the flooding 9:00 to 10:00. the back bay for atlantic city, 8:00 to 9:00. at 7:42, high tide in atlantic city, that's when we could see flooding. we're already seeing snow and rain.
there's the light snow in northern new castle county that we just saw on that live picture from newark. it's very light. looks more impressive on the radar. this is mixing, dover right now is reporting a mix of rain and snow. it's having trouble moving to the north. that's going to take most of the day. what to expect for philadelphia and delaware counties, 8:00 this morning, some light snowfall with temperatures right at the freezing mark or just below. more slipping and sliding as we get through the morning commute. by noontime, we could get a break in the precipitation. but then steadier snow moves in for the afternoon at 3:00 this afternoon. notice the temperatures, upper 30s. a lot of it is going to be melting as it falls. north and west, montgomery and bucks county, dry to begin with as we go into the afternoon. that's when we see the snow develop, 4:00 this afternoon, just barely above freezing. more likely to see the accumulation in the northern and western suburbs on the harder surfaces as the temperatures will be closer to freezing. by the time this one is done
tomorrow morning, periods of snow up to an inch in delaware and south jersey, philadelphia and trenton, 1 to 3 inches. we're still watching. there's a potential for an area of 3 to 5 inches. we'll see if that comes together by the ended of the day and into tonight. this one is going to -- it's loosely organized. we're just expecting periods of snow. temperatures, upper 30s and low 40s will really limit accumulation for our area during the day today. by tomorrow, the snow is done, 39 degrees, a breezy one. we'll get some breaks of sunshine. but not a break fromç winter conditions. here comes the cold. a blast of arctic cold. you'll start to feel it on thursday. by friday morning, 15 degrees and then hold on to your valentine. valentine's weekend will be frigid, 12 saturday morning. >> perfect. >> 3 degrees on the 14th,
sunday, 19 the high temperature. >> did i see flashing lights? >> last time i saw you, ten minutes ago, this wasn't here. now we have police activity. you can see a slow go by this scene. at this point right now is usually slow with added volume through the morning. we have an accident on independence mall at race street and causing the lights to be on flash at race street and eighth street. route 1 before alexander road, there's an accident scene as well as a fluid spill. there will be cleanup under way. that may make there be there for quite some time this morning. we'll obviously keep you updated. the paoli/thorndale train 9569 is canceled into center city due
