how does the traffic smell this morning? >> the traffic -- they're arguing off set. we actually are watching 95. i don't know how it smells but i can tell you how it looks.ó0@r(c this is around cottman avenue. it looks okay. southbound from the woodhaven road to the vine street expressway, 13 minutes in here, average speeds well into the 60s. also the pa turnpike, a tractor-trailer fire that was tieing things up headed eastbound around downingtown earlier has re-opened. no problems there. our drive times unaffected right now, westbound or eastbound. 21 minutes from valley forge to route 1. if you have been dealing with the falls bridge construction, that's re-opened today. you're good to go before you head out there. tracy? the wildcats are still dancing. villanova is in the elite eight for the first time in seven years. nbc 10's matt delucia is live at the wells fargo center with more on the big win and the excitement in south philly as well today. matt? >> reporter: tracy, last night you had some of the focus on

louisville. tonight that focus turns right here to the wells fargo center in philadelphia. two sweet 16 games and four teams fighting for a spot in the elite eight. villanova took care of business last night. they will be beginning to the elite eight after a dominating win over the miami hurricanes, 92-69, the final score there. a lot of fans travelled to louisville to greet the team and watch them play. they will be staying a little while longer. here's head coach jay wright after the game. >> we're just playing really well right now. we're really a fine tuned machine right now. and it's making the score look like domination but, you know, when you see the game you don't feel like villanova's overwhelming the team. >> reporter: up next, villanova plays kansas. and kansas is favored by the vegas odds to win the entire tournament. we're hoping for an upset there. that elite eight game will be tomorrow night over in louisville, kentucky.

it has been seven years, mind you, since nova was last in the final four. people are hungry for that win. and here in philly, tonight we have two games, first up will be notre dame/wisconsin and indiana and north carolina. so more sweet 16 action later today. live atç the wells fargo cente matt delucia, nbc 10 news. and if you want to see big name teams in the ncaa men's basketball tournament in philadelphia this weekend, you'll have to shell out some big bucks. the wells fargo center is sold out. we checked the secondary ticket market. the cheapest tickets we could find for tonight's game go for $450. some other tickets were close to 1,000 bucks. better bet is sunday if you act fast. tickets were $150 on stub hub. they're sure to go. north carolina, indiana, notre dame and wisconsin are playing tonight. drexel university are hosting a summit on how to empower college athletes and make sure their rights are not violated. sports professionals and civic

leaders are participating. the goal is to come up with a sports entertainment mod that'll improves the health and the wealth of players. >> we're trying to unlock this next iteration of college sport in a way that we have a democratic process of athlete representation so that they're not subjected to unilaterally imposed rules that limit their rights and freedoms. >> it's free for college and high school students. from our jersey shore bureau now, this morning, there's still no solution to avoid a shutdown in atlantic city next month. the city is getting closer to running out of money, leading to a threatened city hall shutdown on april 8th. governor chris christie has said the city has failed an he will only sign bills that allow the state to fix the broken casino tax collection system. but the mayor still wants an $8.5 million temporary loan from the state. >> how long can we last? not long. a good three weeks, we make it,

on may 2nd. second quarter taxes come in. it will only be a matter of weeks, not months, before we run out of money again. >> police, fire and trash collection services will continue. some city employees have agreed to work for ious from the city. others will sit home and collect unemployment. now to decision ç2016. ted cruz is defending his family as his war of words with donald trump takes an even nastier tone. trump tweeted this last night. i didn't start the fight with lying ted cruz over the "gq" cover pic of milania. he did. trump retweeted this unflattering photo of cruz's wife heidi. the online battle between the two gop candidates began after an anti-trump super pac made an ad featuring a nude photo of trump's wife. now the fight has moved from social media to real life.

>> it's not easy to tick me off. i don't get angry often. but you mess with my wife, you mess with my kids, that will do it every time. donald, you're a coward and leave heidi the hell alone. >> heidi cruz is scheduled to headline a fund-raiser and rally in camden county next week. at the haddon heights cabin on wednesday. trump is also in a battle with john kasich. this one is all about the polls in pennsylvania. here are the latest numbers from franklin and marshall college. donald trump leads with 33%, trump has 30% and cruz has 20%. on the democratic side, hillary clinton has a sizable lead over bernie sanders, 53% to 28%. in a general election matchup in pennsylvania, clinton leads both trump and cruz by double digits. new developments this morning following the deadly attacks in brussels.

nbc 10's drew smith is live for us in our digital operations center. drew, we are already learning new information about one of the suspects detained today. what more information do you have? >>. >> reporter: we are following several new developments at this hour. a suspect linked to the ring leader of the november paris attacks is now in custody. here's the latest out of france, belgium's neighbor. police say they broke up an isis-inspired terrorist attack planned for paris, a separate attack. it's part of the crackdown o co overnight. police picked up a man who sources say is directly connected to a terrorist. early morning raids led to the arrest of at least half a dozen others in this terror cell. new video just in of secretary of state john kerry on the ground in brussels. that's fresh off a visit to moscow where he was there to cut a deal on syria to crack down on isis.

>> they are a stark reminder, they are a violent reminder of the essential task at hand that brought us here today. >> kerry plans to offer belgium more american help, this as we learn the taxi driver of the suicide bombers in brussels reportedly told police that the attackers went on an anti-american rant. more news coming up in 30 minutes. live in the digital operations center, drew smith, nbc 10 news. and a north jersey school district has postponed student trips to europe in response to the attacks. about 50 hudson county school students signed up for the trips which cost about $4,000 a person. the decision was made after the state department issued a travel alert. the school district says the safety of our students is our district's highest priority there. >> were attacks. i feel that it is typically safe

when there's a lot of attention on the place, when a lot of people are -- >> you would have gone? >> i probably would have gone, yes. >> school officials are exploring options for resched e rescheduling the trip and are working to refund money to parents. a well-known credit rating agency welcomes the end to pennsylvania's budget battle but analysts there predict another stalemate in harrisburg this summer. here's what we know. moody's credit rating agency says the gridlock could continue for the next fiscal year that begins july 1st. moody's also says this year's budget doesn't solve pennsylvania's budget deficit or its pension crisis. weather with meteorologist bill henley. >> 5:38. friday morning and a warm morning. we're in the 60s right now. the wind is blowing but we're watching for rain. it hasn't at riffed yet in philadelphia but it will be moving in this morning. 64 degrees. it will be warmer this afternoon. we will see sunshine break through the clouds. right now pottstown, doylestown,

trenton, all in the low 60s. rain has just started to fall in portions of gloucester county, logan township seeing light rainfall. harrison township doesn't seem to be bothering the temperatures at all. still in the low 60s. the first round of rain moving through the next round will be here later this morning. all we've seen so far is light rain, allentown, limerick see something of the rain showers. philadelphia getting a few sprinkles and into gloucester and camden counties. the rainfall won't be all day. the hour by hour futurecast shows at 8:00 this morning, more light rain and that light rain is going to taper off at times. but there's still a possibility. look at that line of showers right there. of seeing heavier downpours as we go into the noontime hour. those showers will be pushing out of pennsylvania by early in the afternoon. see the sun breaking through the clouds at that time. breaks of sunshine in delaware and south jersey. then finally those showers really start to taper off even more so later in the afternoon. it's not going to be an all-day rainfall.

we'll get sunshine today. 64 degrees in camel back, fleetwood and pennsburg, 67 degrees. by this afternoon it will be drying out after the showers this morning. scattered showers for new hope, other areas as well. millville, smyrna, a possibility of showers, but no more than half an inch. upper 60s for malvern and wilmington at 70 degrees this afternoon in philadelphia. the weekend is looking pretty good, too. sunny skies saturday, 61 degrees. lots of sunshine on sunday for easter sunday, up to 64. full seven-day forecast to show you howç long that nice weathe lasts within i come back in ten minutes. >> 20 minutes before 6:00 right now. let's check your ride to work, including 295. >> yes, in new jersey. roads in new jersey so far, so good, jessica? >> yes, actually. we had a few problems this  morning on a few different roadways now everything seems to

be getting back to normal. we're right where we should be, especially approaching rush hour. friday is typically a lighter day. this is west deptford around route 130. no problems in either direction. that southbound drive time doing great from the 42 freeway over to the delaware memorial bridge. 23 minutes there. average speeds into the 60s. you can see without the lane restrictions we're doing okay. moving over into montgomery county, this has been out there for quite some time. watch for police activity there. going to clear soon, though. out in rockledge on fox chase road and huntington pike we have a disabled vehicle. 422 had restrictions earlier this morning. they have cleared since about 5:00. a little bit after 5:00 or so, we had ongoing construction. now we are okay. no problems headed eastbound from 29 to the schuylkill expressway. eight-minute trip and speeds into the 60s. when i come back in the next ten minutes or so i'll update you on mass transit and the rest of the majors. >> 63 degrees in philadelphia and 5:41 on your friday.

welcome back. former philadelphia eagle kevin turner lost his battle with lou gehr gehrig's disease. he played for the eagles in the late '90s. doctors diagnosed him with als in 2010. turner believed that years of hits to his head caused that diagnosis. he led a lawsuit against the nfl regarding concussions. he talked about the fight facing athletes and his own personal health battle. >> there's no way to compensate for, you know, not seeing my

daughter get married or my boys graduate. >> kevin turner was 46 years old. well, a new federal study says drones will keep soaring in popularity for the foreseeable future. the faa reports the estimated number of drone purchases for hobbies and personal views will more than double from about 2 million now to more than 4 million in 2020. now commercial sales are expected to at least quadruple during that time. the report said predictions on companies using small drones are difficult because the mark set still evolving. >> the convicted killer who shot former congresswoman gabrielle giffords during a mass deadly shooting is not suing her. it turns out word of that suit was a hoax. it was actually started in philadelphia. officials say a mentally disturbed prisoner pretended to be jailed mass murderer jared loughner when he filed a lawsuit against giffords for $21 million.

sentence in minnesota for killing six people and injuring more than a dozen others during that 2011 shooting in tucson. >> 5:47. happening today, artists will come together to help the people of flint, michigan. minnesota musicians will perform a benefit concert in minneapolis. 0 musicians and groups are scheduled to perform at the show which will raise money for the people of flint. cuban fans of the rolling stones are about to get some satisfaction. the stones touched down in havana late yesterday. they're set to perform a free outdoor concert at a sports complex in havana tonight. cuban state media estimated that about 500,000 people will attend. well, this ask an interesting one. >> yes. >> new jersey governor chris christie's autograph is up for bid. >> his autograph on a pair of gym shorts, his gym shorts.

the pair of dark blue, heavy cotton gym shorts with a roughly 60 inch waist is up for sale on ebay. he wrote on the shorts "stay in shape, best wishes, chris christie, gov nv." the high bid is for is just over $200. it's not known if christie ever wore the shorts. >> very interesting. the owner won them in a fund-raiser. he says he wants to part with them because he's disill luged about the situation involving chris christie and donald trump. now your nbc 10 first alert weather with meteorologist bill henley. >> clouds and rain in the area. you can see the clouds. look at this view from here at the nbc 10 studios. not much rain so far in philadelphia. the steadiest rain has been off to the north and west. look at the temperatures, 64 degrees right now. it will be warmer this afternoon. we'll be in the 70s today. look at the light, you can see this is camel back looking toward the ground from this

camera vantage point. very light rainfall falling on what's left of the snow in the poconoç mountains. temperatures in the 50s in mt. pocono, 60s from pottstown to philadelphia, wilmington and south jersey. that's in spite of the little bit of wet weather we've seen just light showers, sprinkles really in the norristown, warrenton area. steadier for kutztown. it's drying out there. allentown, light rain to start with. the next round of showers is just to the west. it will only be rain. the cold air with the snow to the north in canada and northern maine. showers will be on and off this morning, fairly light into this afternoon and windy and warm through the day. 60s and low 70s will see the sunshine before the day is done. and tomorrow, nothing but sunshine. it will be cooler, 61 after a morning low of 39 degrees. sunshine, nice and bright for sunday. easter sunday. 64 degrees the high temperature after a morning low of 40 degrees. clouds will be arriving later on sunday. here come showers for monday.

good morning, everyone. jessica boyington with a quick check on your first alert traffic. right here we're watching cherry hill, new jersey, right around route 38 at cuthbert boulevard. some people making their way out the door on this friday morning with no problems. a lot of the majors are getting back in better shape from earlier accident scenes. we had a problem on the pa turnpike earlier. here's 202. no problems there either, northbound or southbound. 11 minutes at the most from the schuylkill to route 30. average speeds just starting to drop into the 50s. we're still moving along nicely. have another check on your traffic for this morning when i come back around 6:00. >> all right, jessica, thanks. five minutes before 6:00 and 64 degrees outside. delaware is honoring four of its neighborhoods as bluepresent communities.
