quickly this morning. new hope 54 degrees as well as newtown, doylestown 56 this morning. so we're able to really narrow in, find your neighborhood and give you the forecast so you know what to wear before you head out today. right now at 58 in philadelphia. most of the area, like i mentioned, in the 50s. we're going to be warming up this afternoon. as we go through the afternoon, look at these temperatures. 73 for a high in philadelphia, low 70s through many pennsylvania suburbs. low- to mid-70s in much of new jersey. it is going to be a day really no matter where you are. but a little bit cooler along the shore this afternoon with highs mostly in the low 60s. bigger warm-up tomorrow. take a look at that forecast straight. >> see you shortly. thanks, sheena. now back to that breaking news. we had new information as i mentioned, in the case of the 4-year-old girl shot and killed in philadelphia's kensington neighborhood yesterday. source now tell us her mother's boyfriend has confessed to the shooting. nbc 10's monique braxton live
with the details. monique. >> hi, rosemary. as the memorial grows outside this house, that new information we learned this morning includes not om hat mother's boyfriend turned himself in, he told them he did strike accidentally while playing with the gun using a.45 caliber handgun the little girl will this is what we also learned. he turned himself into the district office 8:00 last night he told detectives he had the gun in his hand when he accidentally fired striking 4-year-old. police recovered.45 caliber semiautomatic hand done. we just learned that. our camera at eastfield shortly after the little girl was killed. sources tell us as many as seven children that's also new, were inside the home when the gun went off at 2:30 in the afternoon. initially police told us their investigation revealed a 5-year-old accidentally shot the
child in the face. but we now know it was a man inside the home who fled the scene and turned himself into police last night. he has confessed and at this moment we're awaiting word on homicide charges. we've also learned dhs is part of this investigation because of the children who were in this house when the 4-year-old was killed. no doubt we're staying on top of this investigation. live for now from kensington, monique, braxton, nbc 10 news. thanks for that, monique. also in kensington, breaking news, three people dead and fourth in the hospital after shooting inside a row home. the deadly incident began around 3:45 this morning. police responded to reports of shots fired on east westmoreland street. according to investigators the gunman told them he didn't want to leave the home. there was a standoff. he did admit he had shot someone inside.
>> some detectives from homeland security unit and hostage negotiators were able to talk the subject down without any use of force and without any injury to police or civilian. it's been a long night. unfortunately here it been quite a tragic night. sources tell nbc 10 when police finally entered the home they found two men and one woman dead. two related to the shooter and officers have recovered a gun inside that home. now to news from south jersey bureau, the american red cross helping families whose home destroyed. calls to the apartments on branch avenue in pine hill around 9:00 last night. they had to rescue several people from the building. one person had to be treated for a minor injury but that's it. no other major injuries involved
here. investigators right now are looking into the cause of this fire. quick note from the police department, investigating a report of a man posing as a police officer. investigators say a driver reported being pulled over on north maple wednesday by a man in unmarked car, emergency lights and siren. the man reportedly identified himself as a police officer. the car is believed to be a gold ford crown victoria possibly with new jersey plates. you see it on the screen s80-aux. a rehoboth beach woman under arrest for allegedly slapping a police officer. here is what we know from police. they say coting ham used both hands to slap an officer. according to investigators an officer was trying to her down as she argued with her mother. the officers were trying to get her home safely after a nice of drinking. she now faces several charges
including resisting arrest. later today, medical marijuana will become legal. the bill will allow people suffering from 17 diagnosed conditions to have access to medical marijuana in pills, ointment or lotion form. it gives parents of sick children the ability to buy from other states until it's here. it will take two years statewide dispensaries to get up and running. the clock is ticking down. i hate to tell you for all the procrastinators out there. tomorrow is the deadline to file your taxes. normally april 15th on friday. the deadline change this year because it was emancipation in washington, d.c., the day slavery was outlawed d.c. the irs does not enforce the deadline if april 15th ends up falling on a legal holiday or

away. now to decision 2016, 99 days left until the democratic national convention in philadelphia. dnc expected to be a major economic boost to the city this summer. hundreds gathered yesterday at the 9/11 constitution center to start the countdown to the convention. about 50,000 visitors along with 6,000 delegates will descend on philly in july. local restaurants and bars, hotels hoping to benefit from the $300 million expected to be injected into the economy. there's no doubt there will also be protesters among visitors and police tell us they are ready. >> bottom line, officers are well trained well. you see we get a plethora of demonstrations about a number of things. >> clinton already announced a

here is a look across the area. the big picture shows we have now warmed up into the 50s. now let's narrow it down a little bit more here is cape may in atlantic county, jersey shore looking at temperatures in the 50s for the most part. 55 cape may point, 53 ocean city, 53 woodbine, 58 in mayes landing. a little bit warmer there. 52 atlantic, 55 little egg harbor, mullica mid-50s. we'll talk about pollen. the warming temperatures, that's the trend this afternoon. reading you'll be in the low 70s this afternoon topping out near 0 for wilmington, philadelphia area topping out in the low 70s today as well as trenton. so we have some nice temperature patterns in the forecast. now, with that in place and dry air, pollen remains high. it's going to stay high through
the next several days. for today high pollen levels, monday, tuesday, wednesday, even thursday. not lowering until friday because that's our next chance for. whenever we have really nice, dry weather pollen levels spike this time of year. this is, in fact, the highest we have seen so far. it's not surprising but certainly annoying if you have allergies. here is forecast if you're along jersey shore. temperatures alongshore mostly mid-50s. as we go through the day around lunchtime 57 topping out around 60 with plenty of sun staying in the forecast. south jersey, if you're a little farther inland from the shore, you're going to be warmer. so temperatures through most of south jersey mid-50s. we'll see temperatures topping out around 70 degrees farther inland. so a very nice sunday. hopefully you take advantage of it. tomorrow even warmer, though. here is the forecast for the next three days. for philadelphia 73 degrees. tomorrow 80 for a high temperature. we do get cooler on tuesday,
