bill henley with the first alert forecast. clear, dry, nice. >> getting a cool start this morning. most of the neighborhoods this morning are in the 40s. south jersey, the jersey shore, delaware, pennsylvania suburbs and the lehigh valley while philadelphia is at 52 degrees. the temperatures will be running cooler today. you can see at the bottom of the screen, that's your seven day, a seven day for each part of our area. south jersey starting off cool. it is down to 48 degrees. voorhees is 44 degrees and 46 in lumberton, cinnaminson, also in the middle 40s. a nice cool start. sunshine will be bright during the day today. the skies are clear right now from philadelphia through the lehigh valley and delaware. 49 degrees in delaware, the lehigh valley is on the cool side and delaware with those warmer temperatures will see plenty of sunshine, 47 degrees at 7:00. by 10:00 this morning, 57 degrees. 40s and 50s to start with. high temperatures this afternoon. we'll be warming into the upper
60s and very low 70s. each part of our area will see lots of sunshine today. there are clouds in our future. you may have noticed that. going into what's ahead for tomorrow when i'm back with our neighborhood by neighborhood forecast. now to traffic with jessica boyington. kelly drive, eastbound,ç brewery hill drive and eakins oval, the left lane closed there. expect small delays. also delays if you're headed from new jersey into delaware, over the delaware memorial bridge, we are dealing with only one lane open right now. the rest of the lanes are closed headed from 295 in delaware for that emergency construction. no huge backups yet but there will be for sure later on in the morning. the rest of the area bridges are okay, no problems heading into philadelphia on the walt, the ben and the tacony palmyra and the burlington bristol. they're clear with no scheduled openings at least for now. i'll keep you updated on that for sure and another update when i'm back in ten. tracy? front-runners win, donald
trump and hillary clinton picked up dozens of additional delegates by winning ned's new york primary. hillary clinton beat out rival and new york native bernie sanders with 58% of the vote. donald trump won out over ted cruz and john kasich with 60% of the vote. all eyes are on pennsylvania, new jersey and delaware's primaries. nbc 10's katy zachry is live in north philadelphia where hillary clinton plans to visit today. she has a couple of stops in the area, right, katy? >> that's right. she has a couple stops, tracy. her first one will be this afternoon at this north philadelphia church behind me. she'll then move to a popular music venue for an evening valley. this former new york steer won that state last night and will appear at st. paul's baptist church in north philadelphia followed by the fillmore tonight. republican front-runner donald trump claimed victory in the new york primary as well. he's making a stop at the delaware state fair grounds on friday ahead of tuesday's primaries in both delaware and pennsylvania. now, heidi cruz is stumping for
her husband today in new jersey. that state's primary isn't until early june. mrs. cruz has a packed day with a number of meet and greets across the state. her husband was in philadelphia last night watching the new york results come in. >> this is the year of the outsider. i'm an outsider. bernie sanders is an outsider. both with the same diagnosis but both with very different paths to healing. >> reporter: and senator cruz made those remarks from the national constitution center last night. bernie sanders will be in pennsylvania tomorrow. he'll appear in both scranton and reading. we've learned that john kasich will be in delaware county on thursday for a free event there. coming up in the next half hour, we're reaching out to the local -- the candidates' local organizers to find out more specifics on their appearances here over the next few days. reporting live in north philadelphia, katy zachry, nbc 10 news.

now your nbc 10 first alert weather with meteorologist bill henley. >> clear skies this morning. a little bit of a breeze coming out of the north. you can see the arrows blowing through the neighborhood this morning. that's bringing cooler air in. not a lot cooler but it's going to be a chillier day overall than what we've seen. not bad. 70 degrees. that's still above normal this afternoon, that's for philadelphia. your seven-day forecast right at the bottom of the screen. you can see changes ahead. you said you wanted to see the seven day more often. there's now a seven day for each part of our area. 52 degrees in philadelphia. delaware is at 49. 44 in the pennsylvania suburbs. parts of delaware are running cooler this morning compared to yesterday. 47 degrees in harmony hills, wilmington has dropped to 51 degrees. these temperatures are still coming down. lincoln at 50 degrees. for the delaware beaches, low
50s to start with. but with sunshine, we'll see a nice warmup during the day. here's yourç neighborhood forecast, somerton, 07 degrees this afternoon and near 70 for chestnut hill. in the suburbs, phoenixville, up to 68 degrees and a beautiful day for the lehigh valley. nothing but sunshine, bethlehem and easton. right around 70 degrees later today. if you'll be in delaware, south jersey, no problem. you'll see the warmup, too. look at those sunny skies for haddonfield, linwood, atlantic city 59 degrees. cooler at the shore. delaware will see the warmer temperatures at 70 degrees. that's after morning temperatures in the 40s. that's for today. for tomorrow, the wind will be on the increase. the wind speeds will make for a warmer day tomorrow and they'll be more of a southerly or southwesterly wind which tends to warm things up for us. you can see the warmup we're expecting on the seven-day forecast. it's definitely going to be windier for tomorrow and it looks like it's going to be sunny at least to start with
during the day tomorrow. today, no sign of any clouds or wet weather. but that changes as we head into the end of the workweek. which you can see on the next five days. for philadelphia, 07 degrees, brilliant sunshine. clouds on the increase, not just for philadelphia but at the jersey shore, 67 degrees. here comes the chance of showers for friday and into saturday morning at the shore. less likely that's going to happen in philadelphia. the temperatures in the 70s for the weekend. but a little bit cooler at the shore. that's the five-day forecast. there's the seven day. when i come back, the ten-day outlook. tracy? >> excellent, bill. 4:39. let's check the roads with first alert traffic reporter jessica boyington. >> we're dealing with the construction again this morning where the vine street expressway is closed in both directions, east and westbound, in between broad street and the schuylkill expressway. we're looking live at our cameras, right around the schuylkill expressway to one of the off ramps.

center, vai sikahema, nbc 10. >> thanks, vai. 4:45 right now. you'll see a bunch of these donkeys in philadelphia ahead of the democratic national convention. the host committee says 57 donkeys symbolizing the democratic party will be placed around the city beginning july 1st. each donkey will be painted to represent a state or territory. ed rendell reports some sponsors have pulled financial support from the convention because of republican donald trump. >> because if they pull out of the republicans because they don't like the candidate or what's going on, they like to give equally to both so that they're not giving to us for the time being. we're on track to meet our fund-raising goals. i think we'll meet it. >> rendell says the committee has already raised nearly $40 million. they need to raise 18 million to 20 million more. the democratic national convention happens here in philadelphia, july 25th through the 28th. count on nbc 10 as your place to see it all.
well, you could see have a new -- have new rights when it comes to airline travel. the senate yesterday passed a passenger bill of rights. airlines will be required to refund baggage fees if the bags arrived more than six hours after domestic flight has landed or more than 12 hours after an international flight. they'd also have to make those seemingly hidden fees more clear. >> you think you're getting a cheaper flight but by the time you add on the charges for the bags and everything, picking a seat, you end up right back at the original price. >> airlines would also have to seat families together at no extra charge. be clear about the flight changes and cancellations and increase the number of officers patrolling the terminals. the bill would also require drone owners to take an online test about rules and how to handle the devices. the measure now goes to the house. 4:46. let's check your ride to work. including 295 and first alert
traffic reporter jessica boyington has that. jessica? >> tracy, yes, we're watching 295 right now. looks okay in south jersey. this is around route 38. you can see in both directions. cars moving along nicely, no lane restrictions and if you're headed from this point at route 38 to the black horse pike. maybe that was taking you to the philadelphia area. a 13-minute trip there. speeds into the 60s still. we're watching a lot of ongoing construction. this is actually emergency construction, started yesterday where we had part of the delaware memorial bridge closed, but now it just has one lane open. the right lane headed from new jersey into delaware. from 295 into delaware, some delays there. past the scene with one lane open, of course. we don't have a ton of delays and volume behind that scene right now. definitely something that will mess up your morning commute if they don't clear it out of the way sooner rather than later. route 202, no problems in either direction. great drive times, 11 minutes
north or southbound from route 30 to the schuylkill expressway and speeds just into the 50s. we're still doing okay. here's the schuylkill expressway around the vine street expressway. we were watching this off ramp right over hereç that's been closed all morning. it looks like it may be back open, actually vehicles headed this direction. we will keep you updated and i will check in with the vine street expressway when i come back in the next ten minutes to see if all of the lanes and exit ramps have re-opened early from that early construction. now your nbc 10 first alert weather with meteorologist bill henley. >> just before 5:00 and the skies are clear this morning. a live view from center city. looking past the art museum up the schuylkill. it is a clear start this morning. your seven-day forecast at the bottom of the screen shows this will be a nice day today. there's a warming trend ahead. a pretty good warmup for tomorrow. today, a cooler start than what we had yesterday. in philadelphia, bright sunshine, 50 degrees at 6:00. that's a couple degrees cooler
than it is right now. warming to 56 degrees by 9:00 this morning. the winds are farley light. they're still coming out of the north at this point. but we'll see an easterly wind develop at the shore. that's going to keep points right at the shore a bill cooler. 52 in philadelphia, trenton is 49. 43 in allentown and atlantic city at 45 degrees. 9 degrees cooler than yesterday at this time. off by 4 in philadelphia and allentown is off by 5. just about everybody is running chillier this morning, though not really cold outside. it is lower than yesterday. the sunshine will turn things around fairly quickly today. philadelphia, 60 degrees by 11:00. near 70 degrees at 3:00 this afternoon. you'll be closer to 72 this afternoon with nothing but sunshine for the lehigh valley and this pennsylvania suburbs, 46 degrees in the lehigh valley to start with. by 11:00, getting closer to the 60 degree mark. heading to the south, it will be nice and sunny there too. delaware, south jersey, plenty
of sunshine. tomorrow, that changes. rain is on the way. you can see showers that move through nebraska into missouri and parts of texas getting some very heavy rainfall once again, a line of showers just moving past dallas, still to the north of houston where they got 10 to 20 inches earlier in the week. those heavy downpours, part of the system arriving during the day on friday. here's the ten-day outlook. we'll go past the seven day. friday is not the only potential for rain, much-needed rain. 70 today, 77 tomorrow. that's in spite of the clouds that ill with be coming in, the winds shifting to give us the southwesterly winds. it cools down for the weekend. beautiful weather for saturday and sunday. if there are remaining showers on saturday, it's going to be early and you're more likely to see those at the shore to the east. monday will be dry, 65 degrees,

the airport and route 420 has cleared. watch for a crew in the area. they're not working on the roads anymore but there could be vehicles out there. we earlier had three lanes closed. that was supposed to be until 5:00. we're running a little bit ahead of schedule. which is a good thing. no big delays because of it. use caution when traveling through. more updates in the 5:00 hour. we have new information on a lancaster conte man who's serving life in prison for the murder of his father. he could soon be resentenced. on monday, a state pales court ordered that david freeman should get a chance at a new sentence because he was a teen at the time of the murder in 1995. the re-sentencing hearing comes following a u.s. supreme court decision banning life without parole terms for teen killers. from our delaware bureau, packages stolen right off a front porch in new castle county. the woman check her surveillance video, watched the man walk to
her front stoop and take the packages. someone found the empty packages outside a neighbor's house. now to the latest on the crisis in atlantic city. the financially struggling shoretown is suing the state for more than $33 million. ac says it was promised that money but never got it. the funds would come from an atlantic city rescue package that has been stalled in the state legislature. the lawsuit came just hours after the city brought itself up to date with scheduled payments to the schools. atlantic city still owes the schools about $25 million by july 15th. now to our delaware bureau. if you're a delmarva customer, you'll notice your bill is less this month. the company says customers will receive two separate credits this month, going into next month, one for $123, the second for $49.95. it's the benefit of a merger between exelon and delmarva's parent company.
happening today, philadelphia leaders will celebrate the first anniversary of the city's bike sharing service indigo. they'll also make several announcements about the futs of the program including a new mobile app. this year, the indigo system will expand and users will have access to 300 new bikes. special honors for a number of principals in the philadelphia school district. nbc 10 in center city yesterday where seven school principals received the lindback award. governor tom wolf was there. nbc 10 is proud to announce that we've been honored with two regional edward r. mero awards. >> one award was for best newscast category for our coverage of the deadly amtrak derailment in port richmond last
