nbc 10 breaking news. a manhunt is under way right now in ocean county. police are searching a wooded area at a garden state parkway rest stop. that's where this man, escaped inmate arthur buckle was spotted late last night. bill cosby heads back to court in montgomery county later this month. prosecutors say he could meet his accuser face to face. and triple the love this mother's day. an atlantic county family welcomed home three bundles of joy over the weekend and their home is already full of life and love. 4:30. good morning. this is "nbc 10 news today." i'm tracy davidson. let's begin with meteorologist bill henley with his first alert
neighborhood forecast. a look at conditions right where you live. bill? >> we're seeing a rank of conditions this morning. look at the cool air in new jersey, 40 degrees. the pennsylvania suburbs at 43 while it's in theç low 50s in philadelphia. it's dropped down to 42 degrees in lehigh valley and still cooling at this hour. 47, though, at 7:00. bright sunshine and at 10:00, a few extra clouds will be coming in. look at that warmup, 64 degrees by 10:00, into the 70s this afternoon. and it looks like a dry day for most locations. we'll see temperatures in the 70s for delaware and the lehigh valley. 71 degrees in interior new jersey. at the shore, 65 with a few clouds late in the day. we'll be watching for a brief shower late in the day at the jersey shore. and southern delaware, that's a possibility as well. wilmington, dover, it looks like you'll get a few extra clouds this afternoon. i'll go through it hour by hour with the futurecast when i'm back in ten minutes. jessica boyington has your first alert traffic. >> we are watching the schuylkill expressway right now around the conshohocken curve.
no problems or delays in either direction so far. there are folks making their way out the door right now. eastbound drive time if you're heading into center city is still looking okay with 13 minutes from the blue route to the vine street expressway. speeds into the high 5rz. here's the pa turnpike. we're still in the green here. also, as you can see, no problems in either direction there either. a 23-minute trip if you're headed eastbound from valley forge to route 1. mass transit running on time or close to schedule this morning. for the most part for septa, patco, d.a.r.t., new jersey transit and amtrak. more updates in the next ten minutes. 4:32. we continue to follow breaking news this morning. police along the garden state parkway say escaped prisoner arthur buckle was spotted there late last night. officers fanned out into the woods near the forked river service area in ocean county. nbc 10's matt delucia is there. police say buckle was spotted at a fast food restaurant there, right? >> that's right, tracy.
there's a burger king in this service area. he was spotted on surveillance camera in that area late last night. i'll step out of the way, show you this parking lot. you might notice if you watched us at the top of the hour at 4:00, you saw a lot more in the way of police vehicles here in this parking lot. there's only a couple there. you see the department of corrections vehicle there as well. a lot of them have been moving around this area, as you mentioned, searching the wooded areas around the garden state parkway. we have learned, as you mentioned, that arthur buckle was spotted on surveillance video inside this service area at around 9:30 last night. take a look at new video from where we are as the search continues for the 38-year-old. overnight, police had been using canine units searching the area, police from berkeley and lacey townships have increased patrols near the parkway as well. air units have been scouring the unit throughout the night. arthur buckle escaped from prison days before he was up for parole. he's been serving time for
aggravated assault, drug possession and burglary at bay side state prison in hammonton. he had previously served time for killing a 10-month-old child. we expect more in the way of a plan from police later on this morning as to what the next step will be. as daylight comes, there might be more of a plan. for now, the search is still going on at this hour. we have been told buckle used an employee's cell phone here at the service station, gave the phone back and left. we'll beç staying on top of an updates as they come in. this is a very fluid situation. has been for the past week. even more so as this spotting happened late last night. we'll be back again with updates throughout the morning. live in forked river, matt delucia, nbc 10 news. happening today, we're expecting to learn more about the winning powerball ticket sold in mercer county. new jersey lottery officials will hold a briefing at the 7-eleven store in trenton where someone bought the winner.
that person matched all the numbers in the drawing. the jackpot hit more than $429 million on saturday. the lump sum payout is about 284 million. it's 4:35. the woman at the center of bill cosby's criminal sex assault case could face the comedian at a court hearing in montgomery county later this month. lawyers for an degree constand say she is ready to testify. prosecutors may decide not to call her to spare her from a tough cross-examination. they could instead use her police statement. constand says cosby drugged and molested her in 2004. cosby has asked the state supreme court to dismiss the charges. camden police made an arrest in connection with a deadly shooting at a funeral home. officers charged victor rodriguez who they say was an accomplice in the murder. skyforce 10 was above the funeral home on south 4th street following the shooting. investigators say someone shot and killed jonathan vasquez during a viewing for his

now your nbc 10 first alert weather with meteorologist bill henley. >> clear skies and a cool start this morning. 51 degrees right now in philadelphia. look what happens during the day. the temperatures will be climbing as expected, but look at the clouds starting to move in later this morning and into this afternoon. mostly cloudy skies, high temperatures near 70 degrees this afternoon. that's for philadelphia. for the pennsylvania suburbs starting off at 50 degrees, we won't see any showers but we'll
see the clouds move in during the day today. winds not quite as strong. by 2:00 this afternoon, we'll see filtered sunshine through the high clouds coming into the area. the lehigh valley, more sunshine there, too. cooler to start with. 42 degrees right now. by lunch time, 65 degrees this afternoon and still climbing into the upper 60s to low 70s this afternoon. as far as we're talking about now, the new jersey interior new jersey nice and clear to start with, into the upper 60s by lunch time. look at those clouds taking over later in the day and to the south, delaware and south jersey, the jersey shore will also see that increasing clouds with temperatures climbing into the upper 60s at the jersey shore. that's by noontime. then staying in the upper 60s at 2:00, just a little bit cooler at 4:00 today to the south, delaware, sunshine, bright sunshine to start with. the clouds start to increase high clouds during the late morning hours. by lunch time, 67 degrees. likely to hit 70 degrees this
afternoon, a little bit warmer before those clouds take over and bring the temperatures down a little bit by later this afternoon. that's today. there's the seven-day forecast. closer look at the ten-day outlook when i'm back in ten minutes. 20 minutes before 5:00 right now. let's check your ride to work. start on 95. nbc 10 first alert traffic reporter jessica boyington is watching 95. exactly where are you looking, jessica? >> around academy road on 95, tracy. no problems or delays so far. all traffic is moving along nicely. we don't have have any construction at least at this point. southbound from woodhaven road to the vine street expressway is still a 13-minute trip. average speeds are into the mid-60s there. we also have something that just popped up over in philadelphia, a downed tree on lincoln drive around gypsy lane. the inbound lanes are blocked but one outbound lane so far is getting by the scene. this is 295 over in mt. laurel, new jersey around hartford road. no problems in either direction. some people making their way out the door. no problems heading northbound

4:43. this morning we're following breaking news in ocean county. police have set up a command post to coordinate a search for the escaped inmate. troopers believe that someone spotted arthur buckle at the forked river rest stop in lacey township last night along the garden state parkway. buckle escaped from prison last tuesday. troopers say surveillance video -- security video at the service station captured images of buckle last night. according to investigators, he
used an employee's cell phone, gave it back and then left. overnight, police used canine units on the ground and searched for buckle by air. nbc 10's matt delucia is on scene. he'll have updates throughout the morning. make sure you also check the nbc 10 app for new information whenever it breaks. to decision 2016. senator bernie sanders takes his presidential campaign to atlantic city, just weeks away from the new jersey primary. vai sikahema is live in our digital operations center this morning. vai, atlantic city appears to be just the place for sanders' message about economic hardship in america. tell us more. >> it seems to be ideal, tracy. atlantic city is teetering on the edge of financial default, enter bernie sanders and his call for ending corporate greed and income inequality. bernie sanders is on a two-day swing through the state of new jersey. he stumped on the main campus of rutgers university yesterday. the vermont senator asked new jersey voters for their support.
sanders faces an uphill battle to beat hillary clinton for the democratic nomination. he claimed he would be the better candidate to face the presumptive republican nominee in november. >> trump will not be elected president because the american people understand that we are stronger when we come together than when we are divided up. >> hillary clinton will do her own campaigning in new jersey later this week. she plans to visit camden county on wednesday. donald trump will be in new jersey next week. he'll ahear at a pair of fund-raisers on may 19th. one will go toward helping governor chris christie pay off a quarter million dollars in debt for his run for the white house. pennsylvania senator pat toomey is voicing concern about donald trump's abilities. in an editorial on philly.com yesterday, he called trump's candidacy highly problematic. toomey added he's inclined to support his party's nominee. toomey also wrote it is up to trump to make the case for
himself in a way that reassures millions of republicans and nonrepublicans who have grave doubts about him. winning the nomination is a great accomplishment but it does not mean party members check their judgment at the door, closed quote. donald trump for his part has a meeting scheduled with house speaker paul ryan on thursday. a lot of republicans are hoping it will unite the party in time for the general election. live in the digital operations center, vai sikahema, nbc 10 news. tracy? the premiere of alberta, canada will be in the fire ravaged town of fort mcmurray to look at the damage. the evacuations are finally over and firefighters are getting the upper hand. the how long wild wire devoured 600 square miles. 600 homes are gone. there's no drinkable water or utilities. firefighters lost their own houses as they scrambled to see others. >> i don't consider myself a hero.

louisiana and nebraska before returning to the white house to give another address to the nation. an emotional moment for one family as they reunite with a family member who disappeared ten years ago. randy gatewood went missing from his yuma, arizona, home in 2007. his younger brother, gene filed a missing persons report but feared the worst. he tracked his brother to a medical center east of san diego where gene lives. >> i was absolutely flabbergasted. my god, he's alive and well and being cared for. the opposite of what i thought. >> the family says they're now piecing together the puzzle of where randy's been and rebuilding their life together again. 4:48. 52 degrees outside. let's check conditions along route 422. first alert traffic reporter jessica boyington will get you to work. jessica? >> 422, that's actually right
around trooper road right now. not dealing with a ton of volume or delays in this direction, which is eastbound. that's what we're looking at, drive time from 29 to the schuylkill expressway is where we see more problems for the morning. right now, no problems or backups on to trooper road. eastbound average speeds are still into the 60s. there's also paving crews out there. watch out for that construction work on kelly drive, both directions westbound and eastbound between hunting park avenue and brewery hill drive. the blue route looks okay. you can see we are still in the green and a northbound or southbound brave time doing okay. 14 minutes from the schuylkill to 95 with speeds into the 60s. >> now your nbc 10 first alert weather with meteorologist bill henley. >> 4:49 and clear this morning. we'll start off with lots of sunshine. this is a live view looking across the delaware at center city. the temperatures have dropped into the low 50s in philadelphia. look at the lehigh valley, the suburbs, delaware, all in the 40s, low 40s for south jersey.
in fact, we'll likely drop into the 30s. the jersey shore, 49 agrees. that's 51 degrees at philadelphia international. there are chillier spots and chestnut hill in the low 40s, 50s in west mount airy. bustleton, northeast philadelphia airport is at 49 degrees and low 50s right in center city. that's a cool start. these numbers will drop down a few more degrees before they rise with sunshine and southwesterly winds. the forecast winds for today, coming up to 15 miles an hour in philadelphia. a little bit stronger at the shore. also along with those winds will come some clouds. not enough to stop us from reaching the 70s, though, this afternoon. your forecast for today, neighborhood by neighborhood, university city, 71 degrees in philadelphia. in the suburbs, 71 degrees for neshaminy and the lehigh valley, a nice warmup for bethlehem, 72 degrees with sunshine. and the temperatures at the south jersey interior new jersey will also reachúigto the low
70s, 73 for haddonfield. while the jersey shore will get a few extra clouds. especially in wildwood. the farther south you go, the more clouds you'll see. 67 at the shore. buoy beach, scattered light showers later today. you won't see it this morning. barely a cloud in the sky. this is the satellite and radar. you have to look way to the west to find the showers this morning into the midwest and the ohio valley. those showers will bring us clouds today. a better chance that we'll see wet weather for tomorrow. the futurecast, those clouds are building in our area today. a chance of some scattered light showers in cape may, central and southern delaware. that's this evening at 9:00. really a better chance we'll see that wet weather tomorrow. we'll start off with clouds at 3:00 in the morning tomorrow morning. here come the showers. that's at 7:00 in the morning an a chance of scattered light showers tomorrow morning. a better chance the futurecast showing afternoon and evening hours. tomorrow afternoon's commute may

there is construction out there. i'll touch on some of those spots when i'm back in the 5:00 hour. four minutes before 5:00. today in trenton, the new jersey senate plans to vote on paid sick leave. the bill would require businesses to offer one hour of sick leave for every 30 hours worked. opponents say it will hurt businesses. this weekend, marijuana advocates celebrated recent laws passed in philadelphia and across pennsylvania. now they have their sights set on another goal. >> what do we want? >> legal marijuana. >> demonstrators marched through center city yesterday, gathered amounts of marijuana in philadelphia. now the group wants the drug to be fully legalized and regulated in the city and entire state. we talked to a representative hoping to get support for a bill that would do that. >> it's not about people being able to recreationally smoke all the time. no.
it makes miss cal sense for us to do this the right way. >> last month, governor tom wolf signed legislation making medical marijuana legal in pennsylvania. philadelphia also decriminalized marge north marijuana in 2014. there was a $164 million project that includes a larger gaming floor, a covered parking garage, a poker room and several restaurants. work on the expansion started two years ago. well, mother's day had three times the meaning for a family at the jersey shore. >> this is pretty incredible. robin and joe swift of margate brought their n+eñ triplets hom from the hospital late last week. stella, jake and slade joined the couple's five other children. the swifts say they're trying to adjust having eight kids under one roof. >> so far, it's not too bad. we're getting a routine. >> a lot more diapers. >> yes. tons of diapers.
