nbc 10 news starts now. developing right now, at least one person is dead and three others hurt after a knife attack at a suburban train station near munich, germany. right now, three students are charged in the delaware high school brawl that led to a teenage girl's death and wilmington leaders are urging parents to talk to their children about bullying. plus -- >> howling winds, houses being ripped to shred and power lines popping and exploding as a towering tornado tears across parts of oklahoma. it's 6:00 a.m. good morning. this is "nbc 10 news today."

i'm tracy davidson. >> i'm vai sikahema. temperatures taking a dip today and our team is also tracking some rain. you know who our team is. >> meteorologist bill henley. >> none other than bill henley. you're our team, team of one. >> i have you covered. clouds covering most of the area. look at this, sunshine in the lehigh valley. the temperatures have gotten cooler there because the clouds are arriving a little later in easton than the rest of the area. they will be moving in, mostly cloudy skies by lunch time at 58 degrees. there's a chance of a shower in easton. more likely you'll see rain showers farther to the south. we've already seen rain showers moving past citizens bank park, just light showers. there's a chance of a few more at 8:00 this morning. by 11:00, 56 degrees. no big warmups today. 40s and 50s to start with, upper 50s this afternoon with occasional light showers. those showers are moving in from the west. you can see the light showers in delaware and into south jersey

and into philadelphia, too. this is one line of steadier rain moving to the east at 30 miles an hour. when we went on the air it's completely dry. those showers have extended into new jersey. i'll go through the forecast neighborhood by neighborhood when i'm back in ten minutes. jessica boyington is taking a day off. katy zachry has first alert traffic duties. >> happy to fill in. dry road conditions which is great. that's number one. the number two good news, the crash i was watching on route 1 northbound as traffic was merging from 76 westbound has since cleared, over the last 15 minutes or so, the right-hand lane and center lane were blocked and traffic, a lot of traffic on these two major roads had to merge on to thelanded la -- the left-hand lane. that has just cleared. there may be residual delays but things are looking good. there is construction on the

pennsylvania turnpike eastbound between virginia drive, you'll encounter it if you go through the e-zç pass toll. it's on the shoulder until you get to route 1. eastbound between valley forge and route 1, that drive will take you 22 minutes. >> thanks, katy. to a developing story out of germy. investigators are looking at whether a deadly attack at a train station near munich is tied to terrorism. police say a 27-year-old german man stabbed the first victim on a train, a second victim was targeted on the platform. the suspect stabbed two other men who were on bikes at the entrance to the station. witnesses say the suspect was shouting god is great in arabic. he's under arrest. so far, authorities have not called this a terror attack but they are on alert for lone wolf attacks. new this morning, a bike rider is in critical condition after a hit and run. you can see the mangled bike on the street at 52nd and spruce in

the cobbs creek neighborhood of philadelphia. officers were called to the scene around 2:30 this morning. police are checking surveillance cameras in the area for images of the driver and the car. city leers in wilmington are urging parents to have conferences with their children about bullying. after a student died during a fight. >> the attack happened inside a bathroom at howard high school of technology last month. matt delucia is live in wilmington. investigators say three girls planned the attack and now they're all facing charges. >> and vai, tracy, all three of them are under the age of 18. prosecutors say one of them hit the victim repeatedly in the head and torso with a closed fist. prosecutors say that one suspect, a 16-year-old, is facing a charge of criminally negligent homicide. she could face up to eight years in prison. the two others face criminal conspiracy charges. wilmington councilwoman and

family friend, sherry dorsey walker, says the victim has a strong and loving family that's come together in the midst of this tragedy. >> we have to be mindful of the fact that these are girls who did this, young ladies who there are people in the community who are doing different things and saying different things about them. we as a community need to recognize and realize what are we doing to make a difference in the lives of our young people? >> prosecutors fond the medical examiner has a pre-existing heart condition, that's how she died but the physical an emotional stress of the attack contributed to her death. prosecutors met with the victim's mother and brother yesterday. according to that family friend you just heard from, they are still, as you can imagine, heart broken. 6:05. now to a story we brought you as breaking news yesterday at this time. authorities captured arthur buckle yesterday morning along the garden state parkway in

lacey township, ocean county. he had dodged search teams since breaking out of the ancora unit of bayside state prison in hammonton last week. buckle was serving time for assault and other crimes. he previously spent 14 years in prison for killing a baby. neighbors told us they are relieved the manhunt is over. >> we're glad they got him. but it is pretty scary it's this close. >> it was unnerving that he was just getting away. now thatç it's over, thank god >> buckle was days away from a parole hearing within he escaped. he faces new charges now and could spend an additional three to five years in prison. authorities have taken the third person into custody in connection with the assault of two philadelphia school police officers. police arrested 23-year-old edwin burgos yesterday. he is charged with aggravated assault and other offenses. his arrest stems from this brawl here which happened may 2nd

outside of northeast high school. investigators say it started when officers stepped in to stop two men from beating up a student. that's when the third man got involved. one officer suffered a broken jaw, the other had a sprained ankle and some bruises. delaware lawmakers decide if good evening gay should no longer be considered grounds for divorce. the legislature would vote on a bill that would strike that from the definition of marital misconduct. that misconduct includes adultery, criminal con vicks and drug use. new your nbc 10 first alert weather with meteorologist bill henley. >> clouds are in place and we've seen some scattered light showers in wilmington and other parts of the area. you'll need your umbrella at times this morning and this afternoon. but it's not going to be an all-day rainfall. that's a live view from wilmington, delaware, which is cloudy and in the 50s. warmer than yesterday, where it's cooler, where the clouds have yet to take over. 44 degrees in the lehigh valley.

delaware at 55, most of area is in the middle 50s to start with. we will see those temperatures stay in the 50s today. look at the winds, they're back out of the northeast. not a strong wind but just enough to keep us cloudy and much cooler and give us occasional showers. right now just kind of skirting wilmington. those light rain showers to the south and to the north. these will be on and off this morning. more likely to see breaks in the precipitation this afternoon. so a bit of rain for your morning commute. the steadiest showers are moving right through chester, delaware counties and into philadelphia and into cherry hill. and evesham township now getting some of the rain drops. just some light rain. so sunshine on hold for most of the day. you might see some breaks in sunshine. may even see a rainbow. spotted that earlier this morning. 54 degrees by 9:00, by 1:00, 57. still a chance of a late-day shower in philadelphia. cool, clouds for the suburbs.

occasional shower into this afternoon, 55 degrees. for the lehigh valley, clouds will hang in there after some sunshine this morning. some late-day breaks in the clouds. late-day chance of a shower or two, 56 degrees in the lehigh valley. and not much different for delaware, new jersey and the jersey shore. high temperatures in the 50s. very limited warmup in new jersey with those northeasterly winds. occasional showers this afternoon and into the late afternoon hours. see the shore, 1:00 this afternoon and 5:00 this afternoon. a chance of some rainfall. that futurecast shows at 3:00 this afternoon, not a lot of activity. we'll get breaks in the clouds this evening but there is a chance we'll see some late-day showers tomorrow. when we start in the morning, partly cloudy skies tomorrow morning, a few sprinkles here and there. but oo&q1e dry, until we get into the afternoon and early evening hours. that's 6:00 tomorrow evening. look at the scattered showers and outside chance of a thunderstorm tomorrow.

you may have noticed that already on the seven-day forecast at the bottom of the screen. there's one seven day for each part of our area. when i'm back in ten minutes, the ten-day outlook. >> that's what's good about neighborhood weather. 6:10. we have an accident to tell you about on route 70 in south jersey, also known as marlton park. >> that crash came in not too long ago. it's also known as marlton pike, route 70. it's near haddonfield road. i'm told a stretch of route 70 is closed due to this crash because there's a downed pole and wires. i'll have more information in ten minutes. if you're headed on 70 in north jersey, there's a crash around haddonfield road. if you're headed to either of these majors in jersey, things are looking good. average speeds in the mid to upper 60s. no crashes to tell you about. fingers crossed that that continues. between route 55 and the walt

whitman bridge, that will take you about five minutes. check your area bridges. everything is free and clear. moving into your majors in pennsylvania, 76, 95, 476, almost 6:15. this 95 drive time could creep up over the next half hour. right now it's holding steady. southbound traffic is moving well between woodhaven and the vine street expressway. taking a live look outside. there was a crash along route 1 northbound and 76 westbound just a few minutes ago. that has since cleared. our camera shot has moved away from that specific area and showing you just a great shot of route 1 and 76, right where those two interstates meet up. things are looking good. vai? >> summer right around the corner. that means mosquito season is as well. >> that's raising concerns about the zika virus here locally. we'll tell you about the zika-fighting fish that one south jersey county are unleashing on mosquito larvae

6:15. now to decision 2016. two more presidential primaries are scheduled for today. >> voters from both parties head to the primaries in west virginia. all eyes will be on the democratic candidates still fighting it out for the nomination. senator bernie sanders is looking ahead to the new jersey primary on june 7th. he campaigned in atlantic city yesterday before thousands of supporters at boardwalk hall. sanders took aim at the city's casino industry for what it called its greed and mistreatment of workers. he also called out presumptive

republican nominee donald trump who once owned three casinos in town. >> i get it. you don't think he's a brilliant successful businessman who can bring the kind of prosperity to america that he has brought here to atlantic city? is that your point? >> sanders said his campaign is not over, despite a narrow path to the nomination. the democratic front-runner meanwhile hillary clinton is also targeting donald trump. >> campaigning inç virginia yesterday, she called him dangerous. >> i was asked the other day what i mean by calling hem a loose cannon. well, someone who wants more countries to have nuclear weapons, somebody who wants to pull out of nato. someone who wants to return to torture and murdering the families of so-called terrorists. i think that's the definition of a loose cannon. >> over the weekend, trump accused clinton of enabling her husband's infidelity.

hillary clinton will be in kentucky before visiting camden county tomorrow. nbc 10 has you covered on all things decision 2016. for stories making an impact on and off the campaign trail. read about new details from the state department over the hillary clinton e-mail scandal after officials went through more than 30,000 of her messages. time now to get a look at traffic and the situation on route 70 in south jersey. >> nbc 10 first alert traffic reporter katy zachry still watching that crash. remind us exactly where it is. >> along route 70 or marlton pike in the cherry hill section of new jersey. and so basically what you have is unfortunately route 70 is closed in both directions between cooper landing road and haddonfield road. not a crazy long stretch but crucial enough to people who are taking route 70 as they get to work or school this morning. this is because of a downed pole and wires affecting travel in both directions. when i see you in about nine, ten minutes, i'll have

alternates around this. this happened not too long ago. definitely expect delays. moving into center city philadelphia, a few delays on the vine street expressway as you merge on to 76 but things are looking pretty good. the vine was closed overnight for some overnight construction but that opened around 5:00, 5:30 and everything on the vine is running smoothly. if you're driving on the pennsylvania turnpike, new this morning as of the last half hour, there's construction as you head eastbound on the turnpike between virginia drive and the exit for route 1. the shoulder is affected. just be aware of that because we know how congested the turnpike can get, especially eastbound. it could slow things up for you. now your nbc 10 first alert weather. >> now let's check nbc 10 first alert neighborhood weather. a forecast you won't get anywhere else. >> bill gets to focus in on your specific neighborhoods. bill, take it away. >> we're tracking light rain showers in the area. they're moving in just as the sun came up. just a few minutes ago we saw a

nice rainbow in philadelphia. to show you how quickly things have changed, this is what it looks like right now. the clouds have taken over. yes, there are rain drops in our future. you'll see scattered showers this morning at 8:00. by 11:00, mostly cloudy. look at the temperatures. barely moving during the day today. it will be a much cooler day today. we'll have no problem keeping our cool. temperatures only in the 50s. the last couple days we've been in the low 70s and we'll turn to the 70s for tomorrow. but today, umbrella weather is returning, at least to start with. those are scattered light showers moving through philadelphia right now into south jersey and delaware. this is only light rainfall. it's just a little bit steadier in chester county and into delaware county. those rain drops are moving to the east, close to 30 miles an hour. if it's not raining where you are yet, it's a good chance it the exception farther to the north where it's going to be a little later filling in in the lehigh valley. there's a chance of showers there, too. look at the wet weather to the

west. that's a cold front that's going to wait until later this week to cross our path. that will bring us a chance of showers and thunderstorms to end the workweek. this is what we have to deal with today. in the lehigh valley, upper 50s, sunshine to start with for easton, bethlehem, reading and berks county, 58 degrees this afternoon. a cool and mostly cloudy day for the suburbs with temperatures that will be parked in the 50s and yes, occasional showers for philadelphia, 57 degrees. we have a chance of late-day sunshine, early sunshine has already faded. you'll see a little bit of sunshine. mostly it will be cloudy in new jersey with high temperatures in the upper 50s and not much different at the shore, actually, 50s will be through the afternoon and showers just on and off at the shore and in delaware, too, we're starting off with light rain. that will taper off some this afternoon. there are more chances ahead. you may have noticed that with

the seven-day forecast at the bottom of the screen. most of the day tomorrow will be drier and warmer, 73 degrees. by thursday, we are drying out with another round of wet weather. that's that line of showers that's moving through the central u.s. right now. 68 degrees on friday. a bit warmer saturday, a bit cooler sunday and back up to 70 degrees on monday. umbrellas come back into play on tuesday with high of 68, drying out later in the week for wednesday and thursday. tracy? >> thanks, bill. 6:21 right now. a canadian official says the oil producing city of fort mcmurray has been saved from the raging wildfire. the fire chief says 85% of the city remains intact. a break in the weather has made officials optimistic they can soon get the upper hand on the massive fire that's scorch an area bigger than los angeles. take a look at that video. a tornado rips through oklahoma tearing houses apart, causing power lines to spark and crack

we have in the distance a lot of brake lights as you pass by or approach route 1. eastbound you have a much smoother ride. well, eastbound route 1 to the blue route, that will take you about nine minutes, average speed is in the upper 40s. when i see you in a bit, i'll tell you about a major tie-up on route 70 in new jersey because of an accident there. first, let's take a live look outside at some of bill henley's cameras where it's shaping up to be a pretty good day, bill. >> not bad. the clouds should eliminate sun you'll need your windshield wipers as you can see from this live view at the mellon bank building in center city. it's 54 degrees at 6:26. thank you, bill. 6:26 and it is 54 degrees outside. fighting zika with fish? it's happening today in south jersey. we'll tell you how the process works and which county is unleashing the zika-fighting

i'm vai sikahema. >> i'm tracy davidson. 6:30. 54 degrees outside. let's get right to meteorologist bill henley with his first alert neighborhood forecast. bill? >> tracy, a cool start. it's going to be a cool and mostly cloudy day. we have light rain showers in the area. you can see the camera has a few rain drops on the lens in wilmington. a little bit of sunlight in the distance. mainly cloudy, look at those temperatures, barely moving. meantime in the lehigh valley, 44 degrees cooler because the clouds haven't taken over. that allowed the temperatures to drop down before the sun came up. 56 degrees, mostly cloudy at 9:00. keep an umbrella handy, even though it will be cloudy. at noontime, there will be scattered showers into the lehigh valley. we're tracking light rainfall right now. that's a possibility, not only this morning but also this afternoon. those clouds, the occasional showers keeping our temperatures cool in the 50s. right now, easton, seeing sunshine but the clouds are thicker to the south. there's the rain. that is light but steady rain

that extends into delaware and south jersey. the showers will carry us through the morning and into this afternoon. take a look at the futurecast when i come back in ten minutes. katy zachry watching your first alert traffic. katy? >> watching slow going, bill, on the schuylkill expressway westbound between route 1 and the exit for the blue route. this is what you're dealing with. a lot of brakelights, a lot of delays. it will take you about 11 minutes but i am seeing that creep up every few minutes, average speeds for drivers here on this stretch with all those brake lights is in the low 40s. eastbound looking good. even though you probably have a nine-minute drive as you make your way from route 1 to the vine street expressway. eastbound isn't too bad. we touched on 76. 95, things are slowing up as you make your way southbound. average speeds in the upper 30s for those drivers. that stretch will take you 23

minutes. fingers crossed. the blue route is looking pretty good. i anticipate things will be stacked in the blue route. it's a 16-minute drive as you make your way southbound between the schuylkill expressway and 95. marlton pike, a short stretch is closed. that's closed between haddonfield road and cooper landing road because of an accident there. there's a downed pole and wires. so you are going to expect delays in that area. vai? >> thank you, katy. now to a developing story out of germany. investigators are looking at whether a deadly attack at a train station near munich is tied to terrorism. police say a 27-year-old german man stabbed the first victim on the train, a second victim was targeted on the platform. the suspect then stabbed two other men who were on bicycles at the entrance to the station. the witnesses say the suspect was shouting god is great in arabic. he is under arrest and so far, authorities have not called this a terror attack but they are on

alert for lone wolf attacks. well, there's something fishy going on in gloucester county today. actually it's quite serious. >> county leaders are releasing fish into certain ponds, trying to prevent the spread of the zika virus. pamela osborne is live in west deptford this morning. tell us how these fish are fighting zeke ra. >> reporter: good morning. the fish are actually going to be the eating the larvae of the mosquitos. by the end of next week, 10,000 of them will be released in retention basins throughout the county. the centers for disease control and prevention has been tracking the mosquitos that can transmit the zika virus. based on their monitoring system, those mosquitos can be found all throughout new jersey, delaware and pennsylvania. health officials, though, say this does not mean that the mosquitos will cause disease. these mosquitos would have to bite someone who is already infected in order to spread the virus. i did some more checking around

with the cdc. as of may 4th, there have been 472 reported cases of the zika virus in the u.s. all of those cases can be related back to travel. reporting live in west deptford, pamela osborne, nbc 10 news. today in harrisburg, an aide to former pennsylvania governor ed rendell plans to plead guilty to federal fire fraud charges. john esty will admit that he arranged to pocket thousands of dollars in campaign contributions from a fake company set up in an fbi corruption sting. he told agents that he told lawmakers he'd create the bogus firm in exchange for money. the philadelphia street commissioner charged with assault is off the job until further notice. sources close to the investigation told nbc 10 that carlton thought a man kissed his wife. the alleged victim said he suffered a black eye and fractured rib.

a neighbor told us she witnessed the attack. >> just heard a loud noise and people screaming. when i looked out the window, because you can see from there, i just seen someone falling over. >> carlton faces simple assault and reckless endangerment charges, both misdemeanors. he'll face a judge next month. decision 2016. new jersey governor chris christie is now the chairman of donald trump's transition team if trump wins the white house. the presumptive republican nominee tapped christie for the job yesterday. experts tell nbc 10 essentially it will beç christie's job to ensure trump's campaign promises become reality if he's elected. we spoke to the man who led the transition for the first president bush and was ready to do it again for mitt romney. >> that position needs to be a strong position. it needs to be a full-time position as well. it's a complicated position, that chairman role. >> governor christie gave up his own presidential bid in

the shore and into philadelphia. that's at 6:00 this evening. not an all huff day rainfall. there will be breaks in the precipitation. starting off at 54 degrees, look at those temperatures, barely moving, upper 50s today for philadelphia and not much different for the suburbs. a few breaks in the clouds this morning. a chance of a break this afternoon. but there's also some shower activity, light showers heading for the suburbs and for the lehigh valley. on though it's nice and sunny right now, that's a live view from easton. the clouds will be filling in and a chance of showers later in the day for the lehigh valley. for south jersey, cool there, too, 52 degrees right now. a few rain drops in the area. a few scattered showers this morning and into this afternoon. but definitely not an all-day rainfall. just all-day cool that extends to the shore. 50s with northeasterly winds that won't be as trong as what we saw last week. of 6 miles an hour this morning. a few scattered showers already this morning. there's a chance we'll see

people take that to school and work in the morning. good news, well, it was good news a few minutes ago, the 42 freeway can change on a dime. travel here northbound, a lot of brake lights. as you make your way northbound between route 55 and the walt whitman bridge, that will take you a little more time, about six minutes, average speed for that is in the upper 40s. this is a live look, though, at the 42 freeway right at route 41 where you're starting to see some of that backup as you make your way to route 55. looking outside now for the pennsylvania majors, 95 at girard avenue, things are running smoothly as we would expect. you are seeing delays as you make your way southbound between wood haven to the vine street expressway. things here at girard southbound are running pretty good. tracy? >> katy, thanks. a local grandfather called police and his credit card company for help after being charged for computer services that he didn't want. >> their explanation was you willingly gave him your credit card numbers. that's part of the scam.

concerned. >> reporter: he didn't agree to the service, the caller said -- >> i won't be able to use my commuter anymore. >> reporter: he gave the callers his credit card information hoping they'd fix the problems but the calls kept coming. >> two weeks later they called me again, two weeks later, they called me a third time. >> reporter: it wasn't until his son, ian, noticed what was going on, that horowitz realized he was being taken. charges popped up on his citi card. totaling more than $900. horowitz called the police which told him to call his credit card company and report the fraudulent charges. citi initially removed the charges but then put them back on his card. >> their explanation was, you willingly gave him your credit card numbers. that's part of the scam. >> reporter: that's when he called nbc 10 responds. >> i wanted to get help. i wanted to get out from underneath this burden. that's $1,000. i don't work. >> reporter: we reached out to citi. citi reached back out to

officers were called to the scene around 2:30 this morning. police are checking surveillance cameras in the area for any images of the driver and the car. three howard high school students are charged in the death of a classmate. >> nbc 10's matt delucia is live with more on how this is serving as a battle cry to battle school bullying. >> they say the attack against 16-year-old amy joyner-francis was plan. she died after a fight in the girl's bath root at howard high school last month. she'd been repeatedly hit in the head and torso with a closwd fist. the medical examiner found amy had a pre-existing heart condition, that's how she died. the physical and emotional stress of the attack contributeed to her death. lawmakers are asking for change in education when it comes to bullying. live in wilmington, matt delucia, nbc 10 news. fighting again the spread of

zika using fish. >> pamela osborne is live in west deptford township. >> good morning. those efforts will begin here very soon. the state division of fish, game and wildlife will begin releasing 10,000 mosquito-eating fish in retention basins throughout the county. mosquitos are capable of carrying the virus which can be found throughout new jersey, delaware and pennsylvania. health officials say this doesn't mean that mosquitos will cause the disease. these mosquitos would have to bite someone who is already infected with the virus in order to spread it. the cdc reports there have been 427 cases of zika in the u.s. those cases all relate back to travel. reporting live in west deptford, pamela osborne, nbc 10 news. a tornado rips through oklahoma, tearing houses apart and causing power lines to spark as it moves across a busy road south of oklahoma city yesterday. homes were destroyed, two people

were killed. people in the area are gearing up for round two which is expected to hit tomorrow. good morning, just a few minutes before 7:00 a.m. i'm katy zachry with a look at the roads this morning. tie-ups on 76 westbound. as you can see, a disabled school bus. we are trying to figure out if there are any students on the bus, though, from the cameras. i've been watching and i can't tell that any students have disembarked. i've seen one adult, seems to be the bus driver. traffic is getting around this, this is right where you meet up with 76 east or westbound. it is causing delays on the vine street expressway westbound. we are in the yellow which means average speeds are lower than what they should be on most of our majors in pennsylvania. no crashes to report, just a lot of volume on our majors. and for drivers along route 70, you are closed between cooper landing road and haddonfield road. now your nbc 10 first alert
