this is nbc 10 news. in decision 2016 hillary clinton is back in our area, stumping in camden county. >> we are tracking showers this morning and first alert we'll get your neighborhood forecast. good morning. welcome to "nbc 10 news today." i'm vai sikahema. >> i'm tracy davidson. expect a day of limited sunshine. let's get you caught up with that with meteorologist bill henley and your neighborhood weather forecast. >> the clouds are in the area. this is the view from center city. there are breaks in the clouds in the distance but it will be a mostly cloudy day today. i have been tracking some showers this morning. those showers are not going to be here all day. we will see clouds, though, hanging in there for most of the day. the temperatures climbing from the lower 50s into the middle 50s to 60 degrees by 10:00 this morning. a nice warmup in spite of the clouds. as far as the rain mainly to the south, isolated shower in philadelphia.

we can see the city or showers in delaware and new jersey especially for cape may. the temperatures, 40s and 50s, 40s for the lehigh valley and some 40s in the suburbs, collegeville is at 49 degrees and 48 degrees in warrenton. into the upper 60s to near 70 degrees this afternoon, your neighborhood forecast calling for mostly cloudy skies for philadelphia and the suburbs. more likely to see breaks of sunshine in the lehigh valley, 70 degrees at 4:00 this afternoon. to the south, mostly cloudy day. there's a chance of showers for delaware, new jersey and the jersey shore but it certainly won't be an all-day rainfall. there are warmer days ahead. may have noticed that with the seven-day forecast at the bottom of the screen. take a look at your futurecast to see when you may see more showers during the day today. let's check in with jessie and see what's happening on the roads. >> in den tis township, new jersey, there's a utility pole down blocking the roadway on

route 47. that's closed right now in both directions around beaver dam road. you can see some strip of red right there. follow those detours around the scene. there's no big delays on any of the roads in the surrounding area as well. here's the schuylkill expressway. this is right around montgomery drive. no problems in either direction. we have an eastbound drive time in center city that's still doing okay. speeds into the 60s. as for the area bridges, we're still seeing delays it on the burlington bristol. that scheduled opening started around 5:05. still in place. no problems with the ben or the walt getting into philadelphia. now to decision 2016 and a victory for bernie sanders. he beat hillary clinton in last night's democratic primary in west virginia. his win isn't really improving the tough delegate mass against him. the vermont senator vows to fight on. he rallied voters in oregon ahead of their primary which is next tuesday. hillary clinton's eyes are set on winning new jersey's primary.

>> she'll beç campaigning in camden county. pamela osborne is live at camden county college where hillary clinton will speak. good morning, pam. >> good morning. you know, hillary clinton still has a lot of fight left. later today in camden she's going to tell people here why she deserves their vote ahead of the june 7th primary. she's got her sights set on new jersey, kentucky and the general election in november. clinton was campaigning in kentucky yesterday where she had a bit of a more intimate engagement with moms. there she focused on her plans to make child care affordable for working families. then at a rally in louisville, senator bernie sanders name hardly came up. she saved most of her criticism for presumptive republican nominee donald trump. >> that's why it's important we have to vote next tuesday. we have to get ready to go all the way to november to win the general election.

>> vice president joe biden, he went on the record tuesday predicting that clinton would not only win the democratic nomination but that he was confident she would be the next president of the united states. today's events take place at 11:00 a.m., we'll be here to cover it for you as well. reporting live in camden county, pamela osborne, nbc 10 news. just a little more than two months to go until the democratic national convention comes to philadelphia. >> we have an update from the host committee saying it's ready with more than the number of expected volunteers. the committee's goal was to recruit at least 10,000. 16,000 have signed up. they plan to upgrade its emergency radios and helmets. using farrallon grat money for the upgrades. donald trump won the west virginia and nebraska primaries. he says he's narrowed his list

of potential running mates to five or six people. the presumptive republican nominee says he's giving special weight to political experience. he says he has not ruled out new jersey governor chris christie as a possible running mate. and budweiser is encouraging drinkers to celebrate america. the beer manufacturer unveiled new patriotic packaging for cans and bottles. they replaced the name budweiser with america and includes phrases from the pledge of allegiance and the star-spangled banner. the new look will be on store shelves from may 23rd to the election in november. 5:35. 54 degrees outside. from our delaware bureau now. a teenage girl facing a homicide charge in connection with the death of a classmate is free on bail. the 16-year-old is charged with criminally negligent homicide. prosecutors say she beat amy joyner-francis repeatedly inside a bathroom at howard high school of technology in wilmington last month. they say amy actually died from

a heart defect that was triggered by that assault. two other girls are charged for their roles in planning the attack. at 418 feet long, the coast guard cutter hamilton is hard to miss. you can see it on our camera. >> there she is. you're not going to miss it if you're along the delaware river. it's right there. the coast guard's brand new ship is making a pit stop in philadelphia. it will be docked at penn's landing until friday. cutter will be used to track down drug smugglers andç human traffickers in the caribbean and eastern pacific. we talked to a crew member who grew up in allentown. >> come alongside, try and sneak up on them and tell them to stop. when they don't, there's legal processes that we have to go through to get the authority to stop them. >> it's also the network of criminal activity in the region that we're able to infiltrate. >> and the ship's captain there. glendening is from delaware county, graduated from cardinal o'hara high school. now your nbc 10 first alert

weather with meteorologist bill henley. >> a bit damp this morning to the south. wildwood, some rain on the boardwalk. that's a view this morning from wildwood. still seeing some rain. the light rain showers moving through cape may at this time. you can see they're heading due east. it's not going to be an all-day rainfall. few scattered, light showers moving through the philadelphia area into chester and delaware county, south jersey, you may see a sprinkle first thing this morning. these showers will also be on the move. plenty of clouds. there will be breaks in the clouds but not everybody is going to see it during the day today. philadelphia, 54 degrees. we'll see the temperatures climb into the middle 60s by lunch time today. for the suburbs, mostly cloudy morning, 52 degrees. clouds were light to arrive there. the temperatures, about 2:00 this afternoon, 66 degrees. in the lehigh valley, you can see breaks in the clouds. that's the view from easton this morning. sunshine breaking through at noontime and into the 2:00 hour with afternoon temperatures

peaking in the low 70s for the lehigh valley. farther so the south, south jersey will see mostly cloudy skies. still a chance of a shower. we've seen sprinkles already in the area. and delaware is going to see some scattered showers at times this morning. won't be an all day rainfall. mostly cloudy skies, 54 degrees right now. 61 at noontime and then near 70 degrees this afternoon. we'll see a warmup in spite of those clouds. the ten-day outlook has temperatures warming up tomorrow. but showers return for friday and come saturday, a possibility of showers, just a chance of showers. won't be an all-day rainfall. lots of sunshine for sunday and monday. another round of showers is on tuesday before we dry out, starting on wednesday. tracy, vai? all right, thank you, bill. 5:38 this wednesday morning. time to get a look at traffic in south jersey. >> check the 42 freeway. jessica boyington has you covered before you step out the door. jessica? >> that's right, vai and tracy. we are watching the 42 freeway,

no problems right now, at least around the deptford area around 41. the northbound lanes more volume headed toward the philadelphia area and to the bridges. no problems, though, heading to the walt whitman bridge right now. this drive time is doing okay, a five-minute trip. speeds are still way up there. if you're still out in new jersey, you may run into something out in den vis township. there's a utility pole down on route 47. that's closing it in both directions around beaver dam road for the pole removal. follow the detours around that scene for right now. you may see some delays. get yourself out the door a couple extra minutes early. construction crews, paving crews on kelly drive headed eastbound between hunting park avenue and fairmount avenue. more updates when i'm back in the next ten minutes. 54 degrees here in our studios inç bala cynwyd. no relaxing in one san diego

drexel university will break ground on u-32. it will provide homes and a preschool for graduate students, faculty and staff as well as other professionals in the area. the project is expected to be completed next spring. an engineer hurt inç a fal at rodan museum has received $7.25 million. he falls four stories to the floor of the museum in november of 2012. he was expecting light fixtures in the museum's attic when he plunged through what his lawyers call an unsecured glass floor. he suffered broken limbs and brain injuries. the engineer's attorney claimed there were no signs warning of the danger. >> if there's a hazard on your property, first and foremost, fix it. and secondly, if for some reason you can't, then for goodness sake, when you invite people on

to your property, tell them about it. >> the museum is administered by the philadelphia museum of art which insists there were appropriate warning signs and safety precautions. new details in the prince death investigation. a search warrant reveals a minnesota doctor saw the legendary musician twice in the month before he passed away. it says the doctor treated prince the day before he died and prescribed him medications. investigators interviewed the doctor and searched the hospital where he used to work. prince died april 21st at his home in minnesota. autopsy results are still pending. an uptick in this story here. air passengers have complain for months about long lines at security checkpoints. >> now major airports are threatening to fire the tsa over it. just last month, the tsa said philadelphia international airport had some of the worst delays and the administration planned to hire workers to decrease security check-in time. across the country, passengers still say they have to wait in line for hours.

the port authority that runs newark, jfk and laguardia has sent a letter to the tsa saying it could use private security screeners if wait times don't improve. >> it would take a lot of consideration before they make decisions like this. this is huge. this will have ripples across our industry. >> even with more hire, the tsa says wait times will be long this summer. it advises arriving two hours before your flight and precheck is another option to avoid missing your flight. from our delaware bureau, it's never too early to be prepare. that's the message from first responders as they took ahead to next month's start to hurricane season. nbc 10 at the delmarva power conference center in newark. the utility company partnered with local emergency managers and businesses to educate people with disabilities and caregivers about electrical and generator safety. now your nbc 10 first alert weather with meteorologist bill henley.

sun is coming up and we're seeing some breaks in the clouds. it's mostly cloudy morning. the showers have avoided most of philadelphia but there are scattered light showers, especially to the south, delaware and south jersey. the temperatures will be climbing into the 60s and 70s this afternoon. but mostly cloudy skies, 59 degrees by 10:00 this morning. those clouds will be hanging in there with a chance of scattered showers. 51 degrees in south jersey. a little bit cooler up in the lehigh valley where the numbers with clear skies overnight have dropped into the 40s. 45 in white hall. here are the showers. most of the rainfall is pushing to the south or missing us to the south. there are scattered light cf1 o soon a few sprinkles as well in philadelphia and into chester county. those isolated showers won't last long. there's a chance we'll see some more scattered showers during the day. certainly won't be an all-day

rainfall today. there you can see a rain drop or two moving through south philly right now. just a sprinkle your neighborhood by neighborhood forecast is calling for some breaks in the clouds in the lehigh valley. look at those temperatures this afternoon. 74 degrees for bethlehem, easton, 74 degrees for the suburbs. a few scattered showers are possible. mostly it will be cloudy with a few breaks of sunshine. 71 degrees in phoenixville this afternoon. for philadelphia, a warmup in spite of the clouds. fairmont, 72 agrees. a chance of a shower but really a better chance of scattered showers into parts of new jersey while trenton sees partly sunny skies, 74 degrees. it will be mostly cloudy for haddonfield and glassboro and part of the south, south jersey, yes, rainfall in atlantic city. a shower or two is possible during the day. but mostly cloudy day, 60s right along the shore and into the very low 70s in wilmington. could see a shower or two later this morning and into the afternoon hours for dover,

rehoboth beach is cloudy with a chance of some showers and 63 degrees. that's today. there's the seven-day forecast, check it out any time i'm on the air. that's when seven day for each part of our area. 5:48. let's get you to work on this wednesday and check 95 to start with. >> jessica, the drive times look pretty good. >> still looks pretty good, vai and tracy. this is around cottman avenue where we see big delays at least around the 6:20 mark. we're starting to see extra added volume. these are the southbound lanes in here. that's what's headed towards the center city area. still 13-minute drive time from woodhaven road to the vine street expressway with speeds well into the 60s also. some construction on city avenue headed northbound between cardinal avenue and conshohocken state road. the right lane closed there. not big delays so far. you'll see delays in dennis township. detours in the area, a utility pole down on route 47, closing

in generation addicted, nbc 10's in-depth look into opioid addiction. you can see his interview on nbc10.com and the nbc 10 app. there are a lot of questions about high school -- about a school bus caught on camera in north jersey breaking the law. >> check out this dashcam video from jersey city. it shows a school bus blowing a red light, stops briefly in the intersection, lets pedestrians cross, then goes across railroad tracks. >> it was insane, completely insane. if my children, i have two boys, and somebody told me they saw a bus do that, i'd be real concerned to are that city. >> it did not appear there were children on board. our sister station in new york did reach out to the company that appears to own the bus and did not get a response yet.

they also contacted the school systems in hudson county. none of them use this bus company. >> five minutes before 6:00 a.m. 1,200 residents are under a boil water advisory in avon dale, chester county. crews fixed the break and the water is back on. for the next couple of days, home owners have to boil it before using it to drink, cook or to clean. borough leaders are worried the water may be contaminated. chemists collected samples and are testing for bacteria. families have to make some adjustments. >> we always keep a whole bunch of bottled water here. when we brush our teeth, it's bottled water. for food dishes we have been boiling water. >> borough officials oiled the boil advisory yesterday saying it would last from 36 to 48 hours. >> from our delaware bureau, the death of a pet turkey is causing controversy. the turkey's owner insists her

neighbors hated her beloved turkey and ran him over on purpose. the turkey was known for roaming the streets in frankford, sussex county. some saw the animal as a traffic hazard and danger to children. the issue was brought up at a council meeting last week. shortly after the meeting someone ran over the turkey in front of its owner's house. jodi clark says she can't imagine how anyone could hurt her pet. >> so many people love that bird. i've had people stop by and tell me how much they miss him. >> frankford police are look for the person who was responsible. you might be groggy when you head to the shower this morning. >> i think this is everybody's worst nightmare. if you found something like what we're about to show you, you'd wake up pretty quickly. a woman in san diego discovered this snake in her bathtub last week.
