chilly start, look atç the 40s for much of the area, the suburbs, new jersey, down to 43 degrees in interior new jersey. 45 degrees in the lehigh valley. just in the upper 40s in delaware. this is a live view from wilmington. you can see a few, thin clouds moving through. we're getting closer to sunrise. we'll see bright sunshine today. look at the warmup. 49 now. 58 degrees at 7:00. 69 degrees and still climbing at 10:00. we'll be well into the 70s this afternoon. a big warmup and a beautiful day today with temperatures climbing into the middle 70s for the lehigh valley for delaware. interior new jersey, 77 degrees this afternoon. even the low 70s along the coast. and for philadelphia, 78 degrees with sunny skies. sunshine today but there is some wet weather ahead for tomorrow. i've got your extended futurecast to show you when the rain starts moving in when i'm back in ten minutes. right now, jessica boyington is watching your first alert traffic. we're watching route 202 for some delays. we're not finding any.

this is right around route 29. no big problems you can see in either direction. a seven-minute drive time in the green headed northbound from 29 at this point to the schuylkill expressway. speeds also into the 60s. warminster, watching that tractor-trailer accident that actually closed york road. that's route 263 closed between bristol road and meyer way. old york road pretty much runs parallel to the scene. you can take that as your alterna alternate. the stotesbury regatta is also this weekend. it's closing kelly drive until tomorrow around 8:00 p.m. between fountain green drive and strawberry mansion drive. more updates when i'm back in the next ten. new from overnight, an nbc 10 viewer sent us this video of a car fire on 95 in south philadelphia. the car was driving southbound when it collided with another vehicle and hit a guardrail around 11:30 last night. medics took one person to the hospital with minor injuries. today new castle county grief counselors will be on hand at a wilmington high school after a student was shot and

killed. nbc 10's katy zachry is live for us this morning at howard high school of technology. katy, this all comes after another recent tragedy at the school. fill us in. >> two tragedies for students and faculty here, vai, in less than a month. we had learned grief counselors will be at the school when it opens in just a few hours, when students arrive. this latest tragedy happened yesterday. a ninth grade boy was shot and killed just blocks away from where we're standing. it happened around 3:15 yesterday afternoon in downtown wilmington along clifford brown walk. here's cell phone video of police showing up to the scene. the student who was killed has not yet been identified. we are trying to learn his name. we know he was shot in the head. he's the second howard high school of technology student to be killed in less than a month. you'll remember last month in late april, 16-year-old amy joyner-francis died after a fight with classmates in a school bathroom. the principal of howard high school of technology wrote a

statement online yesterday on the school's website saying i'm sorry to inform you this that a ninth grade howard student was shot, transported to christiana high school and died of his injuries.ç counselors and support staff will be available at the school. i have contacted wilmington police to find out if the shooter has been caught and what circumstances led up to yesterday's shooting. as soon as i have that information i'll pass it on to you. reporting live in wilmington, katy zachry, nbc 10 news. now to a developing story. it's midmorning in the eastern mediterranean sea and the search teams say there's still no sign of debris in the area where an egyptair jet is thought to have crashed yesterday morning. investigators from france, includinging an expert from airbus, maker of the jetliner are in egypt. the plane with 66 people aboard was headed from paris to cairo and vanished from radar. u.s. intelligence officials tell nbc news data suggests there was some sort of explosion aboard flight 804.

egypt is calling it possible terrorism. so far, there's no credible claim of responsibility. in mercer conte last night, donald trump repaid a political favor to new jersey governor chris christie by appearing at a fund-raiser. the presumptive republican nominee joined christie on stage in lawrenceville. christie started supporting trump after ending his own presidential bid. trump showed up to help christie pay off debt from that campaign. people paid more than $200 to get in. >> he's a great guy. he's been a great governor. he's been my friend a long time. he's done a great job. >> america needs strong leadership here at home and around the world. i am confident that leadership can be provided by just one man, donald trump. >> hundreds of anti-trump protesters pushed past police barricades as the candidate arrived for the event. no one was hurt. the victims of the center city gay bashing attack nearly two years ago are suing the

three people who were criminally charged in the case. the lawsuit is seeking compensation for the victims' medical expenses. two men were left with facial cuts and broken bones after the attack back in september of 2004. williams and harrigan both pleaded guilty. kathryn knott was convicted after taking her case to trial. today and tomorrow, philadelphia will be home to the world's largest high school regatta. nbc 10's matt delucia is live along kelly drive this morning. matt, tell us more about the stotesbury regatta and what will happen today. >> you said it. it's a big deal, the world's largest high school regatta. we have some of the rowers were already starting to show up here this morning. you have high school students from around the country maer for the weekend. a lot of spectators as well. all here along the schuylkill river. take a look at what it looked like last year. you have so many people here, 10,000 spectators are expected to be here for the events that will happen over the next two days.

5,000 competitors. this started in 1927. the stotesbury regatta has been going on for 90 years. we have schools in our area that compete and have won races in the past. rain is expected tomorrow. we had rain as well for the regatta last weekend. it should beç a good day to ben water. bill has been telling us we'll have sun here as well. kelly drive is shut down between strawberry mansion and fountain green. that will be closed until tomorrow night. as we take another live look along kelly drive, some of the rowers have starting to show up. we have a team that put a boat in the water. we're starting to practice. it's dark to show you what it looks like on the river right now. hopefully in the next hour we'll have a few more boats on the water when the time trials begin at 8:00 this morning.

another weekend of fun here but, again, if you do need to drive around fairmount park area, keep in mind, kelly drive is shut down between strawberry green. matt delucia, nbc 10 news. now your nbc 10 first alert weather with meteorologist bill henley. >> beautiful today, yes, but things will be changing for tomorrow. this morning, look how nice and clear it is. this is a view from center city with clear skies and very little wind. that's going to get chilly sturz. we're seeing cool spots this morning. the suburbs down to 48 degrees. now 56 at philadelphia international. south jersey, the coolest spot at 43 degrees. there are chilly numbers also in delaware. these will be climbing, low 50s in wilmington and claymont and sunshine, warm temperatures into the 70s this afternoon. a little bit of a breeze out of the northwest, 53 degrees right now in rehoboth beach.

those light northerly winds, light winds won't stand in the way of our warmup today. so enjoy it. sunshine will be right. this is the satellite and radar. nice and clear at the shore. no problem right along the delaware and the schuylkill this morning. tomorrow, it's a different story. enjoy the sunshine and the big warmup today. lehigh valley, middle 70s this afternoon. and into the 70s, too, for the suburbs with bright, sunny skies. phoenixville, west chester, 76 degrees. closer to 80 degrees in parts of philadelphia, fairmont, 78 degrees today and bright sunshine for new jersey. trenton, 77 and 74 in haddonfield. even at the shore, the temperatures will be climbing into the low 70s for avalon, galloway township, 74 in atlantic city, 71 degrees, the high temperature. look at the sunshine for wilmington, dover and rehoboth. a little bit chillier at rehoboth but well into the 70s for dover and for wilmington. stotesbury regatta, sunshine today but look what happens

oklahoma could become the first state in the nation to effectively ban abortions. last night, the oklahoma senate passed a bill criminalizing abortion. it would make abortion a felony and without take away the medical license of any doctor that performs one. it's to challenge the 1973 row v. wade decision that legalized aborgs. a republican who voted with democrats against the bill believes it will probably be struck down at the federal level. >> i'm sure it will be declared unconstitutional at some point in time. in my opinion, it's silly to waste our time on bills like this that aren't going to go anywhere. >> oklahoma's republican governor who opposes abortion won't comment on whether she'll

sign the bill until her staff has time to review it. people living near a closed military base is getting new help to deal with contaminated drinker water. tests revealed harmful compounds near the former willow grove air station in horsham. residents of horsham, warrenton and warminster can pick up bottled water at the horsham community center today. they can get up two to cases of water. public meetings about the contamination are scheduled for next week. from our delaware bureau now, today volunteers and tennis pros will turn downtown wilmington into a mecca for our city's youth. >> that starts this morning at rodney square. the annual events brings in hundreds of kids for free

lessons. >> we end up setting up about ten portable nets on north market street in wilmington, delaware right at rodney square in front of the hotel dupont. we invite hundreds of kids, this year over 800 kids will be coming. >> more than 07 volunteers including 30 tennis pros will participate in the program. the program will follow up with kids who show exceptional ability and offer them scholarships to a local tennis program. 5:15 right now. let's check the schuylkill expressway if you travel the schuylkill to get to work. >> how does the flow look? >> we're still a little bit ahead of the time where we start to see big delays and volume. for this time of morning we typically check out construction projects. the schuylkill around, the blue route area has construction active with some lanes lost. no big delays around that. this is the schuylkill around montgomery drive. eastbound drive time, into center city from the blue route to the vine street expressway. still at 13 minutes there, average speeds are into the 60s as well. you can see even headed

westbound. a little bit of a flashing light right there. either way, everything isç movg away east or westbound in or out of center city. we're also still watching 422. all that construction has cleared earlier this week we were watching construction around route 29. no lane restrictions now. no problems or delays eastbound from 29 to the schuylkill, an eight minute trip there. this is camden, new jersey around route 38 at route 70. you can see not a lot of cars on the roads here. they look dry. everybody is moving along whether you're on 38 or 70. heading through camden you'll be just fine. passyunk avenue east and westbound is reduced to to two lanes. more updates when i'm back in the next ten. now your nbc 10 first alert weather with meteorologist bill henley. >> clear skies and we are getting closer to sunrise. we'll see a lot of sunshine making for a beautiful friday. we made it into the 70s yesterday, 73 degrees, upper 70s this afternoon.

look what rain does to the temperatures over the weekend. it is going to be a rainy weekend, that rain on the way, especially for saturday. look at it moving in that saturday afternoon at 2:30. we'll need the rain gear. it's going to put a damper on outside activities on saturday. there's today to enjoy. chilly, yes, 43 degrees right now in new jersey. 40s for the lehigh valley, the suburbs, even at the shore and in delaware, the temperatures in the 40s. it just dropped to 49 degrees at northeast philadelphia airport. there are warmer spots around fox chase's 55, west mount airy at 53 degrees. society hill in the upper 50s to start with. we'll warm into the 70s this afternoon and see nothing but sunshine today. but clouds will be building and the rain will be moving in from the southwest first thing tomorrow morning. and that rain will stay for most of saturday. you can see the wet weather moving into the midwest. those big storms are on the move. those were in texas yesterday. the storm is making some progress. look at those showers arrive by this afternoon into the ohio

valley. while we're still enjoying sunshine at that hour, the clouds take over overnight tonight and tomorrow morning the rain will start pushing into the area. that's 10:30 in the morning. dry first thing saturday morning but at times heavier rainfall moving in. that's at 5:00 in the afternoon. look at those downpours for allentown, philadelphia and a steady rain in south jersey and delaware. as we go into the evening hours, the showers will start to thin out a little bit by 10:00. there's a chance we'll see showers into sunday. the ten-day outlook has a beautiful day today. but here comes the big cooldown with the rain for tomorrow. still chances of showers on sunday and monday. you might see a couple breaks of sunshine. it will be a mainly cloudy day for sunday and monday. by tuesday, sunshine is back. 72 degrees tuesday afternoon. not warm enough for you? check this out. heading for the 80s for wednesday, thursday, friday, saturday and sunday. a real summer preview coming our

5:22. we're following breaking news from overseas. the egyptian army says it has found debris and passengers' belongings from egyptair flight 804. an army spokesman posted that on his facebook page. search crews in the mediterranean sea made the discovery about 180 miles north of alexandria, egypt. the plane with 66 people on board was headed from paris to cairo when it vanished from radar early yesterday morning. u.s. intelligence officials tell nbc news data suggests there was some sort of explosion aboard flight 804. egypt is calling it possible terrorism. so far, there is no credible claim of responsibility. td bank is cashing out of the coin count business. the bank announced it will retire its penny arcade style coin counting machines. it follows years of complaints
