when i'm back to show you when you can expect to see more showers. there will be some more later today. that's in ten minutes. right now let's check in with jessica and first alert traffic. >> we're watching 295 over in new jersey right now. right around route 130. you can see no problems. some people making their way out the door this morning but no big problems or delays in either direction. a 23-minute trip headed southbound from the 42 freeway up and over into delaware. average speeds into the 60s there as well. so we're seeing no problems there. still watching some emergency construction headed from that point in new jersey into delaware. the left lane still closed with that emergency construction. so left lane into delaware from new jersey closed. also watching the rest of the area bridges. no problems into philly. i'll be back in ten with more updates for your morning drive. >> jessica, thanks. it's 4:30. police are looking for the people behind a home invasion robbery.
investigators say three or four masked men went into the home, took money and a cell phone before taking off. no one was hurt. gunned down right on the street. chester police are looking for whoever shot three people over the weekend. a teenager died. nbc 10's matt delucia is live at chester police headquarters. matt, a reward is now being offered to help officers catch the suspect. tell us about that. >> reporter: that's right, three people shot, one killed and chester's mayor says that violence will not be tolerated. we're now more than 24 hours after this shooting happened on the city's west side. residents are looking for justice now. 14-year-old was killed. nas nichols is the boy on the right of this photo. on the left is his 16-year-old cousin who was critically injured in the shooting. police say they were innocent bystanders. they were walking down the street near tenth & pine around 8:00 saturday night. investigators say someone fired dozens of bullets at adults sitting in a car. the third victim here, an adult,
says she dove under her dashboard as the bullets were fired. she still has a bullet under her skin and a scratched eye from all the broken glass. >> these kids, these mothers, families. and it ain't fair! >> reporter: chester's mayor is asking for neighbors and witnesses to come forward with information, offering a reward for a conviction. a neighbor heard those gunshots on saturday and now would like to see more police patrolling her neighborhood till that killer is found. >> i wasn't sure if someone was hit or if it was just, like, random gunshots. but it's pretty disturbing. especially when i hear that the victim is such a young child. >> reporter: now, a motive for the shooting is yet unknown. chester police are going through surveillance video now from a nearby store that captured the events as they unfolded late saturday night.
we'll be working throughout the day to hopefully get some of that video for you to see and hopefully get this killer or killers off the street. live in chester this were monthing, matt delucia, nbc 10 news. now from our south jersey bureau, a veteran police officer faces five years in prison after sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl. the atlantic county prosecutor made the announcement yesterday that on friday ralph pereira admitted in court that he used his position as a police officer to sexually assault the teen. pereira has been suspended without pay since his arrest in may of 2014. his sentencing is now scheduled for july 1st. a woman is in custody after domestic dispute turns deadly in montgomery county. police were called to a home on south sixth street in north wales just after 4:00 yesterday afternoon after neighbors reported hearing gunshots. officers say they found a 67-year-old man shot to death in the garage. police arrested a woman in connection with the shooting. they're not saying what the
relationship is between the suspect and the victim. from the nbc 10 delaware burr burrow, the search is on for a killer in wilmington as family and friends gather to remember a 15-year-old boy killed after school let out at howard high school of technology. yesterday they held a prayer vigil at nativity preparatory school. the middle school brandon wingo graduated from last year. it was last week brandon was shot as he walked down the street. his principal said they're still trying to make sense of what happened. >> this is, i guess, a safe place to feel all of the things and be with each other, especially in the face of a city that isn't safe or doesn't feel safe at the moment. >> a memorial has also been set up on the street where brandon died. 4:34. honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. this is a solemn camden county tradition. ahead, hear from one of the dozens of people whose mission it is to direct respect to fallen heroes this memorial day.
good morning, everyone. jessica boyington with a quick check on traffic. right now we're watching the blue right along the germantown pike on ramp. no problems it in either direction there. also watching an accident in norristown, montgomery county. arch street & east chestnut street. now for a monday morning, of course, we're seeing it be a little bit quiet out there but we are still watching some construction. passyunk avenue in both directions, an ongoing project where it's reduced to two lanes. you may see small delays there. here's route 73 over in berlin, new jersey. you can see not a lot of cars out in the roads right here.
no problems either direction north or southbound on route 73. when i come back in the next ten minutes, more updates for you on your morning drive. now your nbc 10 first alert neighborhood weather with meteorologist bill henley. >> it is a bit of a cloudy morning. we have seen a few scattered showers. you can see it's a little damp in wildwood this morning. no heavy rainfall here. satellite and radar shows a few sprinkles just moving across delaware bay and back into central and southern delaware. a few isolated showers also in atlantic county coming out of burlington county in new jersey. that's really spotty activity. a better chance you'll see showers and thunderstorms develop this afternoon. right now 56 with scattered clouds wi clouds. 67 by 10:00. into the late afternoon, that's when we could see some showers and thunderstorms developing. and we'll get some sunshine in the suburbs. 65 degrees, into the 70s as we go into the afternoon hours.
chance of showers and thunderstorms will be here later today. and for the lehigh valley, clouds are starting things off, a bit of fog, too. those clouds will break for some sunshine. 74 degrees at 2:00. by 4:00 this afternoon, we'll be at 73 degrees in lehigh valley with a chance of those showers and thunderstorms. in fact, they'll probably arrive just after 2:00 in the lehigh valley. for new jersey, some sunshine this morning. 66 degrees at 10:00. by lunchtime, very low 70s. not much wind here. it will be out of the northeast at seven miles an hour at 2:00. and later in the afternoon, those showers will be popping up once again. and in new jersey or at the jersey shore, some breaks of sunshine. 65 degrees at noon time. and into the middle 60s this afternoon. less of a chance of a shower at the shore. a better chance farther to the west. delaware will likely see some afternoon showers and thunderstorms. that will limit temperatures into the lower 70s.

who paid the ultimate price for our country. neighbors joined volunteers from the american legion to place american flags on the graves of veterans at the locustwood cemetery in cherry hill. in all volunteers placed more than 1,600ing flas yesterday. the tribute is a longstanding annual tradition in the cemetery in the week leading up to memorial day. >> these graves, some of them i've seen today, nobody has been there in years. so they're due the respect. they fought for their country. they died for their country. >> the flags will remain on the graves at least through memorial day. happening today, convicted killer drew peterson will begin standing trial again. the former suburban chicago police officer faces charges that he tried to hire someone to kill the prosecutor who won the case that sent peterson to prison in 2012. a jury found peterson guilty of murdering his third wife, kathleen savio. peterson's attorneys are challenging that wiretap evidence in the case which they
say was improperly obtained. now to decision 2016. the race for the white house is tightening according to new polls from nbc news and "the wall street journal." nbc 10's vai sick hkahema is lio break down the numbers. >> both donald trump and hillary clinton are the most unpopular candidates in the history of the nbc news poll. more than 50% of all those asked have negative opinions of bode candidates. when it comes to the general election, clinton is now just three points ahead of donald trump. that's down from 11-point lead last month. and in a matchup between trump and bernie sanders, the vermont senator leads by 15 points. but clinton has no doubt about who will win the democratic nomination. >> i am going to be the nominee, and i want to spend a lot of my time, as you've seen me do, really taking on trump because i find what he says, the kind of

95 over into delaware, no problems there either. no big delays. some construction projects in the area but you can see 11 minutes from 295 to 495 there. here's white horse pike over in new jersey. this is right around 295 over in haddon heights. actually a few cars out the door but no big problems or delays on the white horse pike or on 295 right now. mass transit running on time or close to schedule for the most part for septa, amtrak, i'll have more updates for you when i come back in the next ten. now your nbc 10 first alert neighborhood weather with meteorologist bill henley. >> 4:48. we've got clouds around this morning. it's either starting to thin out, this is the view from looking towards -- from here at the nbc 10 studios, those clouds won't last all day. but we could see some spotty showers especially this afternoon there. there already have been a few showers in wildwood. you can see them streaming to the south moving inland to new
jersey and delaware. right now it's central delaware, seeing a few raindrops just to the south of dover and a few spotty showers. in atlantic city area and into cumberland and cape may counties, that's to start with. we'll actually get some breaks of sunshine. we've been in a rainy pattern. low pressure is lingering offshore. and that's keeping the chance of some showers around for today. and again tomorrow. but look to the west. look how dry it is. that's what's in store for us starting midweek. we'll really start to dry out tomorrow. even though there's a chance of a shower and then the heat is on as we dry out towards the end of the week. the temperatures will really be coming up. and it will be nice and dry. we'll see plenty of sunshine. the chance of showers will be disappearing over the next couple days. but this afternoon, 5:00 this afternoon with the scattered showers and possibly some thunderstorms as we go into the evening hours. and by late in the evening, still a few raindrops around by first thing tomorrow morning,
this time tomorrow morning, we'll still have some clouds and there's a chance of a spotty shower. but looks like it's going to be drier than today. so the forecast, ten-day outlook calling for temperatures into the 70s this afternoon. 76 degrees for philadelphia. 77 tomorrow. we'll see more sunshine tomorrow. and fewer showers tomorrow afternoon. we'll be drying out. and then here comes the heat. summerlike conditions on wednesday. 84 degrees, near 90 degrees thursday afternoon. and close to it on friday. the weekend, for a change, should be dry. but the heat will stay with us for saturday and sunday. even mild in the morning. 65 saturday morning. 66 sunday morning. and then well into the 80s both days. then a week from today, the chance of showers and thunderstorms return. look at that. we'll be running ten degrees warmer than today on monday, 86 degrees. and the 80s continue for tuesday and wednesday with a chance of some spotty showers. 83 tuesday and 80 degrees wednesday afternoon.
so any time on air, can you get the seven-day forecast for each part of our area just at the bottom of the screen. give you a look at the ten-day outlook twice an hour. tracy? now from our jersey shore bureau, visitors returning to the sand for memorial day weekend will find some beaches are narrower than last year. a stormy winter caused more erosion than usual. in some places the damage is worse than it was after superstorm sandy in 2012. hurricane joaquin passed offshore in october but still churned up enough surf to deplete beaches. a winter storm in january also carved away part of the coastline. will smith was honored in university city last night. he couldn't be there in person, but smith was given the first-ever trail blazer award by the philadelphia independent film awards. the honor recognizes those in the industry who set new standards for others to follow. smith was nominated for an oscar twice, and he won four grammys

today as part of zika awareness day. good morning and welcome to nbc 10 news today. i'm vai sikahema. >> i'm tracy davidson. welcome to monday. let's begin with meteorologist bill henley with his first alert forecast in the weather center. bill? >> tracy, we have clouds we're following this morning but the clouds will be thinning out. we'll get sunshine today. 48 degrees right now in the suburbs. there are areas of fog in the lehigh valley. you won't find it in delaware this morning where the numbers will be climbing into the middle 50s at 7:00. look at 66 degrees at 10:00 this morning with sunshine. though we will get some sunshine this morning and any fog disappears, there is a good chance we'll see showers and thunderstorms develop this afternoon as we climb into the middle 70s. inland at the shore, 68 degrees. mostly cloudy. just a slight chance of a shower or the jersey shore. delaware up to 75 degrees and 76 degrees in philadelphia. with warmer weather to come, you can see the warm-up on the seven-day forecast at the bottom of the screen. summerlike temperatures will be
here by midweek. we might start to get a taste of them tomorrow. but it still could come with a few showers. i'll give you the futurecast when i'm back in ten minutes to show you when the showers are most likely to pop up. meantime, jessica boyington is watching first alert traffic. jessie. >> watching route 202 right around route 29. no big problems or delays right now in either direction, although some people are making their way out the door early. seven minutes from this point around 29 if you're approaching the schuylkill expressway. average speeds into the 60s. still an accident in norristown in montgomery county. arch street and east chestnut. and 295 over in hamilton township, new jersey, right around sloan avenue. no problems in either direction. you can see maybe a little difficult to see out there. but otherwise no big problems backups or delays. if you're getting to the train station over in trenton, you'll be just fine. you can see all lanes, of course, north or southbound doing okay. new castle, delaware, some constron
