morning. i'm traydy davidson. >> two or three weeks away from summer but i think it starts this weekend. we have the weather for it. let's get to first alert meteorologist and his neighborhood forecast. >> it felt like it started a couple of days ago. yesterday was 90 degrees and this morning we're warmer. 70 degrees philadelphia. a breeze at 5 miles per hour. temperatures will take off. 74. and we will be in the 80s t. normal high temperature is 77 degrees. sunshine nice and bright. saw a little bit of rain to start with this morning that is out of the picture. 82 at noontime. there's a chance to see scattered afternoon showers and possibly thunder showers and most likely interior of new jersey. can't rule out a shower for

philadelphia and the suburbs. at the shore, cooler temperatures. on the beach today, forecast hour by hour and show you where the showers are likely to pop up. >> a few bumps in the road in the last hour but this is a live look at 95. this is southbound. most of the traffic will see the most value at this hour. headed into philadelphia no issues to report along the stretch of 95. 76 as you make your way eastbound no problems there. and then you make your way between the expressway and 95.

a great drive there. all right moving into new jersey for all of you shore goeers this is a look at 76 right at the atlantic city expressway. very light traffic now. it's bound to change in a few hours as people make their way to the shore and finally if you're headed to the airport no major delays being reported at any of the major airports in our area. >> good to hear. thanks. 6:03, 70 degrees and we're following breaking news. the search is on in north philadelphia for the driver in a deadly hit-and-run. police are telling us a 57-year-old man just dropped off a group at a church around 10:00 last night. he was getting sbak into his van. described the car as dark in color with front end damage and a possible flat tire. >> well, memorial day weekend is

here. you might be enjoying a nice long weekend and if you're heading down to the shore there's a lot to look forward to. >> first thing is first. your drive down to the shore is going to cost you less than normal. matt is live this morning in atlantic city. no need to stop. >> they're going to be taking care of on the atlantic city expressway. it's a tradition there so you don't have to pay for this for at least part of the day there. of course we've been having a lot of fun inside sampling the food and taking a look at some of the beverage creations that they got. look at this scene here in atlantic city. beautiful sunrise on the beach and one of the big things is at this spot. this is where they have the beach concerts in atlantic city. very popular. take a look at the pictures here

now the concerts will be later on in the summer. first up jimmy buffet on august 14th. the tickets for that one go on sale today at 10:00 and then florida georgia line performing on september 3rd to wrap up the summer season here we spoke with the regional president and talked about bringing them back once again. >> a lot of fun and great show down at the beach and it's become a great economic impact play for atlantic city and it's great for all people going to the shore. >> the american flag can't forget the true meaning of this weekend. it's more than barbecues and more than just spending time at

the beach. of course we have to remember those that made the sacrifice and served for our country but a few cool things going on in atlantic city tonight. fireworks on the beach here at 10:00 a new light and sound show over at the tropicana casino and the unofficial start for the summer season begins at 12:30 today on the beach. he'll unlock the ocean. it's a big ceremony that a lot of the shore towns do every year. live in atlantic city on the beach, nbc 10 news. >> thank you. of course not just atlantic city and the jersey shore getting ready officials are preparing for crowds.

>> 80s today. >> well, everything you want to know is on the nbc 10 app. you can take it where ever you go this weekend. >> it's 6:07. this morning a man is in custody after a 4 hour standoff with police in delaware county. a s.w.a.t. team moved in and made the arrest at the home in springfield last night. earlier police say the man inside fired shots at officers. no one was hurt during the situation. meantime three people shot on the streets are expected to survive. the victims are all men in their 20s. police have not said what lead to the violence and they're still looking for the shooter.

>> what a beautiful start to the day. ocean city new jersey. runners are out enjoying a perfect morning. a quick warm up today. there's a slight chance of a shower in ocean city. a better chance we'll see some showers inland. right now the shore 60s for cape may. ocean city at 63 degrees. atlantic city at 65. the winds are coming off of the ocean so that's going to keep the beaches cooler today. that's a 13 miles per hour wind for atlantic city this afternoon. wildwood a 12 miles per hour wind but inland it's coming across so we'll see a quick warm up. we'll get the cool ocean breezes and humidity will be running higher today and the temperatures really moving up for philadelphia. 77 degrees at 9:00 this afternoon and then into the middle 80s by 1:00. upper 80s to near 90 this afternoon. same for the lehigh valley. 70s to start with. mid 80s by lunchtime. there's a chance for spotty

afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms. we'll see them in the western suburbs. less likely in delaware. can't completely rule it out though. 76 degrees to start with. the quick warm up by 1:00 in the afternoon. upper 80s during the late afternoon hours. this is where we're most likely to see them develop between 1 and 5:00. most locations will be dry. 77 degrees and then ocean breezes by late this afternoon. a chance of showers well you can see not a lot of activity. right now this is the current satellite and radar. you can see a few showers just northwest of the philadelphia area. the first round of showers has already moved into new jersey.

you can see clouds building and might see a spotty shower and a thunderstorm. that's more likely as we go into the afternoon. look at the line of storms developing at 3:00 this afternoon. those move out. still a spotty shower in burlington county at 6:00 this evening and you see showers during the late afternoon and evening hour. it's not going to last for the entire weekend. a dry start tomorrow. hotter and more humid. 90s for most of the area. near 80 degrees at the shore. the humidity will still be high. there's a chance of spotty showers on sunday. more than likely rain will keep things cooler on memorial day monday. 10 day outlook when we're back. >> 10 past 6:00 a.m. on a friday. >> we have been following 422.

>> yeah. it's really been a problem spot throughout the morning but first something that has cleared we had slow ups on the expressway westbound at montgomery drive on this area of the shoulder and the right lane was blokd. they have a really smooth ride taking this expressway. getting back to your point, 422 westbound, the onramp to evergreen road we're following a crash that happened around 4:30 this morning. it's taking crews a long time to clear it and it's right around the outlets in that area. 422 westbound. tap the breaks. and 22 eastbound. the ramps is closed. >> thank you. >> why his father says he was

ever memorial day salute. the training and discipline he has learned there also applies to his music and how he feels about life. >> i'd say most of basic training is about learning yourself what you can deal with. you can put up with. what you can strive for. what you can achieve. it's about perseverance more than anything else. >> williams will be performing for fellow veterans like the commanding officer with the 25th district and he couldn't be more thrilled about the concert and the memorial day holiday as well. >> you know, the fact that our country takes the time to, you know, honor us with this weekend -- i don't care where we are. the fact that people are enjoying themselves and men and women that served layed down that base, to me i think it's great.

find temperature ace bit more comfortable today and again tomorrow. near 80 degrees tomorrow. lots of sunshine for saturday. sunday partly sunny skies but looks like monday wet weather heading in. 66 degrees the high temperature. sunshine will be bright today and tomorrow 70s for today. 76 degrees tomorrow. partly sunny and 63 and then there's monday. memorial day monday. a chance of showers and for cape may sunny skies today and tomorrow. 77 tomorrow afternoon. a chance of some late showers on sunday. a better chance of some wet weather on monday. mostly cloudy skies. 69 degrees the high temperature for memorial day on monday. this morning we did see some showers move through the lehigh valley. they're completely out of the picture moving through north jersey but the next round of showers will be popping up as the temperatures heat up this afternoon. real spotty showers move through the ohio valley into west virginia. watching the skies this

afternoon for occasional shower and possibly a thunderstorm. most of the day it's going to be dry. sunny, hot, humid. 90 today. 92 tomorrow after a warm start. 67 degrees in the morning. still humid for sunday and a spotty shower is possible. upper 80s. not quite as hot for sunday. it's memorial day monday that will most likely see wet weather. temperatures in the 70s. that's typical for this time of the year. as we dry out we heat back up on tuesday. 87 degrees and then closer to normal for wednesday thursday and friday. a nice dry stretch next week but over the weekend, saturday will be dry and next sunday a chance of showers and thunderstorms but nowhere near as hot as it's going to be this weekend, nor as humid either. the forecast is always at the bottom of the screen and check out the ten day once each half hour. >> this is new video of severe weather. heavy rain thunder and lightning

>> good morning i have a look at the roads just a few minutes before 6:30. light traffic on the 42 freeway. this is a shot at the atlantic city expressway. no issues to report. as you make your way to shore. we'll take a look at your route to delaware roads as well as how mass transit is running at this early hour but first a quick look outside. it's shaping up to be a beautiful warm one. >> it's going to be quickly but what a beautiful start this morning. a live look. 63 degrees right now in cape may. 60s at the shore. near 80 this afternoon but inland a different story. the heat and humidity is on as we're heading into the memorial day weekend. >> it's 6:26 on a friday morning. this memorial day weekend president obama is in japan doing something no other sitting president has ever done.

he dropped off a church group. >> a hot memorial day weekend as you get a live look right now. the beach in atlantic city. already warm this morning. 70s in some places as you're warming up. in the 60s there. good morning. good morning and welcome to nbc 10 news today. >> just after 6:30 let's get right to a very popular man today because everyone wants to know their first alert neighborhood forecast for today and the weekend. >> beautiful right now. temperatures in the 60s and 70s. it's warmer than yesterday but look at this. beautiful sunshine breaking through the clouds. that's a live view from new jersey. this is where we did see some showers first thing this morning but the rest of the morning will be dry. 75 degrees. by lunchtime look at that warm up. 82 degrees. that's in the lehigh valley. similar conditions in the suburbs. this is king of prussia, look at that sunshine. getting closer to 90 degrees this afternoon and philadelphia

will see the quick warm up too. 90 degrees, breezy, hot and a chance of showers and thunderstorms developing most likely in interior new jersey at the shore while the interior part of new jersey hits the upper 80s to near 90 degrees. 70s on the beach coming in off the ocean. we'll go through the future cast and show you where showers and some thunderstorms are most likely to pop up. see the first round of showers is out of the picture now and dry to start with. future cast hour by hour. right now let's see what the roads look like on a friday morning. >> you illuded to some sun glare in your forecast and i'm seeing that on many of our cameras. especially on 95. this is northbound traffic moving really well headed out of center city. southbound things are looking pretty well despite the volume that you see. a little bit slow going but take a look at our drive times. not too badly affected. it will take you 70 minutes to

make your way southbound. eastbound on 76 headed into the philadelphia area you have 15 minute ifs you're making your way and then 476 is in the green light. traffic is running smoothly. no accidents to report. all right we do have a truck fire that is now out but is effecting things from the pennsylvania turnpike eastbound so the stretch between exit 358 and 359 is closed. all traffic is being forced to exit at 358 b. aware of that. you'll be diverted on to your route where you need to go. >> 6:33. 70 degrees outside and breaking news out of north philadelphia where police are searching for a driver in a deadly hit-and-run. witnesses tell police that a car struck a victim. 57-year-old man. he was getting into a van around 10:00 last night and died at the hospital. police described the car that hit him as dark in color with front end damage and a possible

flat tire. new from overnight philadelphia police are look for a gunman that robbed and shot a man on temple university's campus on westmoreland street on the school of health science campus. the man shot the victim in the hip and took his phone and his wallet. the victim is not a temple student. he is recovering in stable condition at temple hospital. >> nothing says memorial day weekend like a concert at the shore. >> matt is live this morning with what you can expect this weekend, matt. >> it is definitely drawing the short straw today. we're talking about what is happening this weekend and throughout the summer down at the jersey shore. we're in atlantic city right now and who wants to sit in a stadium when you can sit on this lovely sand on the beach. take a look at this view. it doesn't get any better than this. no one is out here though. the water is a little cold but this is the perfect day for a

and personalize it plus get traffic alerts as soon as news breaks. >> it's 6:36. in other news now a high school student in southwest philadelphia broke his jaw in a fight defending his teacher. the cool district says the teacher was trying to break up a fight when the crowd turned on him. the fight happened at motivation school at 58th in baltimore. 9th grader richard williams stepped in to help his teacher. >> he was trying to do the right thing. he was trying to help his teacher. when you go to school the only thing you should have to worry about is learning. you shouldn't have to worry about safety or having to protect your teach frer from be assaulted. >> william's father says he's filing a report with philadelphia police. >> medical experts have found the first case of a drug resistant super bug in the united states. doctors diagnosed a pennsylvania woman that had a bacteria that

certain antibiotics cannot fight. researchers determined the woman carried the strain of e.coli resistant to antibiotic use as a last ditch effort to treat some super bugs. the case by itself is not cause for panic but the antibiotic resistant gene can spread to other types of bacteria already resistant to multiple drugs. the state is working closely with the cdc and the department of defense to come up with a response. >> we do a very comprehensive job so that we can have it and our children can have it. >> they have not said where the woman is from. meanwhile they're trying to figure out how the super bug got here. the woman had not travelled overseas in the last few months. they found it in pigs and a small number of people in china and popped up in europe and africa and canada before hitting

the u.s. >> now your nbc 10 first alert neighborhood weather with meteorologist bill henley. >> a beautiful start. hook look at the live view from seattle. temperatures at 60s at the shore. 70 at philadelphia. all of these locations are running warmer than yesterday. look, 15 degrees warmer than yesterday at this time at 69 degrees headed for the upper 80s in south jersey near 90 degrees for philadelphia. and it will come with a few scattered clouds at times and a possibility of an afternoon shower but most of the day dry for philadelphia. in the suburbs and the lehigh valley bright sunshine and a chance for late day showers and thunderstorms in the lehigh valley. especially 84 degrees and in delaware you'll see plenty of sunshine from the 60s to the 70s and 80s by early this afternoon. new jersey we'll see some

showers develop between 1 and 5:00 but it's not going to be an all day rainfall as the shore mostly right along the coast might see a late day shower. 75 degrees at 5:00 this afternoon. the sea breezes will keep the shore communities a bit cooler. future cast shows at 11:00 lots of sunshine and temperatures will be climbing. it's during the afternoon hours that we see the best chance of showers and thunderstorms developing. that's 3:00 this afternoon. interior new jersey and along the central new jersey coast and then as we go into the late afternoon hours, this is 5:00 this afternoon, trenton and into interior new jersey we'll see scattered showers and moving from the west a possibility of showers and thunderstorms back in the lehigh valley and some of the western surveillance bushes. may see a brief shower in philadelphia but most of the day it's going to be dry. as we head into the weekend

people want to deal with this morning. especially if they're headed to shore points in new jersey. we have a earlier truck fire that's now out but unfortunately it's caused some significant delays on pennsylvania turnpike eastbound right between the delaware valley exit which is 358 and the exit for the pennsylvania turnpike connector bridge which is the next exit. 359. that stretch of road is closed and traffic is being die verted off the turnpike. you'll be brought back but i just brought up the speed maps to show you. so it's about 20 miles per hour. that's what you're throwing to right at the scene. you are crawling at 2 miles per hour. so this is really delaying people on the road this morning to get to work. to school. many people working a half day to get on the road for memorial day weekend. i'll stay on on of this. we have launched sky force 10 and we'll have a shot coming up in a few minutes. >> trump versus sanders in a first debate of its kind in

and 80s on tuesday. over the holiday weekend it will turn warmer but there are cooler spots to be found. right now this morning the temperatures have dropped into the 60s and low 70s. 65 in the suburbs. cooling down at this hour. 65 degrees. while fort washington is 65. 89 degrees on sunday and a better chance of seeing showers and thunderstorms on monday. but the delaware river gap will be near 90 tomorrow. another hot one and a chance of showers and then 93 on monday. looking for cooler spots, the jersey shore team, 79 tomorrow. 75 degrees with partly sunny skies. it looks like a chillier day on monday with rain that will keep things cloudy.

wildwood similar conditions. 70s tomorrow and sunday and the rain shower activity for monday. ocean city or cape may. cape may will see scattered showers late on sunday. better chance of those showers on monday and then we'll see temperatures rebound after the holiday weekend. for today, we saw some showers first thing this morning. you can see they moved through northern new jersey and moving into new york right now. not a lot of activity to the west. but there's moisture that's going to be surging into the area and with the heat up during the day today, can't rule out some spotty showers and thunderstorms. most likely in new jersey but some of the western suburbs could see that as well today. tomorrow 92 degrees. a steamy day for saturday. by sunday the humidity is so high. 88 degrees. partly sunny skies. there's a chance of a shower on sunday but it's memorial day that is most likely to see some rain that will keep temperatures in the 70s. back into the upper 80s on tuesday and closer to normal for

we're following breaking news this morning. the search is on in north philadelphia for the driver in a deadly hit-and-run. a car struck a 57-year-old man as he was getting into this van around 10:00 last night. the man died at the hospital later. police say the car that hit him was a dark color car with front end damage and a possible flat tire.

>> good morning. some major back up on the pennsylvania turnpike eastbound just as you're making your way into new jersey. there was an earlier truck fire. the fire is out but it is still wreaking havoc on travel in this stretch. so basically what you're looking at is the pennsylvania turnpike eastbound in bucks county. all of this back up headed eastbound between exits 358 and 359. 358 is the exit for delaware valley and 359 is the exit for the pennsylvania turn bike connector bridge. that's where the truck fire happened and that is closed right now to traffic so all traffic is being detoured off of the turnpike at 358. >> good morning. live in atlantic city the unofficial start of the summer season. we made it to the water's edge. i'm not jumping in but the unlocking of the ocean here and then over in ocean city a bunch
