just saw a flock of birds behind us. let's get right to meteorologist bill henley and the morning forecast. >> too soon to head south for the winter. going to be a warm summer day in spite of what you seeç here, there are breaks in the sunshine. what a range, andorra, manayunk in the 60s and 70s for fox chase and west mt. airy. philadelphia international, 75 degrees. northeast philadelphia, you're in the low 70s with a couple of exceptions. somerton down to 65 degrees right now. we'll see a nice warmup as the day goes on, into the upper 80s. the lehigh valley, 86 degrees this afternoon. mostly sunny skies there. you see scattered clouds at times in delaware. 87 degrees this afternoon and clouds won't be all-day cloudiness. you'll see scattered clouds into the afternoon and the suburbs 87 degrees. at the shore, it will be a nice
day. 82 degrees, the high temperature. we'll go through the forecast hour by hour when i'm back in a few minutes. first an update from the first alert traffic reporter with jessica boyington. >> we're watching an accident scene out in fishtown, frankford avenue and girard avenue. there's a tractor-trailer blocking off part of the road. also in abington, there's another accident in huntington pike and dale road. 422, no big problems or delays. eight minutes eastbound from 29 headed up towards the schuylkill expressway with speeds still clocking into the 60s as well. vai and tracy? >> jessica, thank you. we want to give you an update on breaking news. moments ago delta alerted us that flights are about to be back up and running after a computer issue grounded flights across the globe. nbc 10's pamela osborne is live
at philadelphia international airport. >> vai, i just spoke it a manager here with delta airlines about the trouble they're experiencing this morning. he tells me they have regained use of their computer systems down here and that they are able to get passengered checked in, which they are doing right now at this line. they do confirm they are still dealing with the outages. delta tweeted out, the departing flights were delayed because of the departures. it's been difficult to check as the website has been down. they hope it will be up and running soon. delta and philly international advising travelers to check the status of their flights before leaving for the airport. we'll be checking in to see how long before the rest of the system is up so that way people at home can check their flights before they go. i'm pamela osborne, nbc 10 news.
6:04 and 75 degrees outside. happening today, pennsylvania attorney general kathleen kane's trial begins with jury selection. nbc 10's matt delucia is live outside the montgomery county courthouse in norristown. tell us more about this case. >> reporter: this trial was more then a year in the making. it seems from leaked confidential documents to a newspaper reporter, the jury selection will begin in norristown later on this morning. it puts the state's top prosecutor at the defense table. she's facing perjury, official oppression, or instructing the law and conspiracy. the case centers around the leak of secret grand jury documents. prosecutors allege that kane was responsible for the leaks and lied about it. sheç argues there's an old boy network plotting against her.
kane's law license has been suspended since last year. she did say she will not seek re-election. if she is convicted she'll face several years in prison and a permanent revocation of her law license. now live in norristown, matt delucia, nbc 10 news. 6:06. happening today, the trial begins in the lehigh valley for a soldier accused of killing his teenage girlfriend's mother. ok this happened in the driveway of their upper macungie home. her daughter was sentenced to 35 years to life for helping in the murder against her mother. she's expected to testify against barnes. at least 53 people are dead
after a bombing at a pakistan hospital. officials believe a suicide bomber chose the hospital after dozens of lawyers gathered to mourn another lawyer that was killed in another targeted attack. an american and australian professor have been kidnapped in afghanistan. they were driving when they were pulled out of their suv. they both worked at the university and were on their way home when five gunmen wearing afghan military uniforms took them. this morning, a berks county community is grieving the loss of an entire family. police found the bows of megan and mark short all this gunshot wounds in their sinking spring home. investigator have not said who pulled the trigger. new from overnight, one person is in critical condition after a carjacking in southwest philadelphia. police were called to 60th and woodland around 1:00 this morning where they found a man shot multiple times.
shell casings all over the sidewalk. there are no arrests. also new from overnight, philadelphia police are looking for a gunman who shot two men inside a car in northern liberties. nbc 10 was on 6th street near brandywine street. the victims managed to run into an apartment building with a gunman firing on them before they take off. the victims are in stable condition. the witness gave officers the shooter's name and address. philadelphia's criminal justice center re-opens its main concourse following an elevator accident last week. the courthouse was closed thursday when an elevator shot up and crashed through a concrete floor. a sheriff's deputy is in crystal but stable condition. investigators continue to look for the cause of the accident. now your nbc 10 first alert
weather. >> the sun is up and we'll see a lot of sunshine at the shore. look at that nice view from sea isle city. there will be scattered clouds sometimes but no sign of wet weather for us today. the temperatures at the shore have dropped into the 60s and 70s. 75 in atlantic city. summers point is 70 and 60s for upper township, woodbine 66 degrees. wilmington, see scattered clouds but also those are sun lit clouds. we have breaks of sunshine, too. the temperatures starting in the 60s and low 70s, wilmington just cooled down another degree to 7% degrees while limestone road is 66. we're seeing 60s in lewes and low 70s for rehoboth beach. there will be scattered clouds around during the day. no sign of wet weather, not until later in the week. for today, your hour by hour forecast is calling for a sea breeze telling this afternoon. temperatures are a bit lower at the shore. the rest of the area will get a nice break from the humidity today. clouds, some sunshine, 86 agrees

friday into or out of the weekend over the summer months. right now you can see the schuylkill having cars starting to move through. only a 13-minute drive time especially when you look at our cameras around girard avenue. 13 minutes from the blue route to the vine street expressway. route 73 over in voorhees, new jersey, cooper road, a couple of cars out there. no big problems or delays. watching the blue route, all the drive times are pretty much in the clear still. we're at a 15-minute drive time southbound from the schuylkill to 95. average speeds also into the 60s. i'll be back in ten with more updates. >> today in rio, local rowers hit the water in search of olympic gold. >> we'll hear how the schuylkill river played a role in their training. >> and how dozens of dogs in a high kill shelter are getting a second chance in delaware.

volunteers with faithful friends animal society were on a mission to save these 30 dogs. they were all in a dallas shelter running out of space and their lives were on the line. faithful friends stepped in, got the dogs and brought them back to find them new homes. >> it's an amazing feeling. the volunteers are excited to be a part of it. the staff, most of them came in on their day off to help support this. we're all really excited. >> all the dogs have been spaded, neutered and vaccinated. they'll be available for adoption this week. 6:17. let's get you to work on this monday morning. beautiful morning. >> seeing those dogs, i'm reminded when jessica brought her dogs in a couple of weeks ago it was. how are they doing? >> the floors have never been cleaner. maybe i'll bring them back. i don't want them ruining my house anymore either. they're good boys. thanks for asking.

meteorologist bill henley and his first alert forecast. >> some scattered clouds in the area, no rain associated with these clouds. moving through the morning and into the afternoon hours. we'll still get enough sometime to warm these temperatures up. 60s in delaware, newark is 69 degrees. very low 70s for claymont and wilmington into the south. it's in the upper 60s in lewes and rehoboth beach is at 71 degrees. sunshine, some clouds and temperatures into the 80s this afternoon. as the numbers climb, the humidity will be coming down. look at the sunshine in the lehigh valley. scattered clouds in new jersey and the pennsylvania suburbs. 87 degrees this afternoon, up to 88 degrees. at times it will be mostly cloudy. that will be filtered sunshine. still warming us into the upper 80s today. jessica boyington is standing by with an update from the first alert traffic center. >> we are watching 422. these are our cameras around
trooper road. no problems or delays. normally around this time trooper road would be backed up but it is summer. we're not seeing around increase there. we'reç watching an accident in fishtown, frankford and girard avenue. that intersection is all blocked off. abington, huntingdon paek and dale road. delta is dealing with computer problems that grounded flight departures worldwide. pamela osborne is live at philadelphia international. what's happening there? are the computers working? >> yes, vai. the computers are working here. that isn't necessarily the case any other place right now.
i can tell you they are able to check people in for their flights at the counter. they are able to do this because they switched over to an older system that they don't use anymore. yes, they are checking people in for their flights but that doesn't mean passengers are going anywhere as of yet. delta experiencing the systemwide outage that's grounded departing flights all across the country. here at philly international, they said the problem was noticed just after 3:00 this morning. this is confusing to passengers. we talked to a few people leaving that departure counter. the flight boards show a lot of the flights are on time this morning, within the past few minutes we've noticed some of the departure times change over to delayed times. pretty frustrating for
passengers because they have not been able to check the website before they head out the door this morning. probably your best bet if you're flying out delta, give the airline a call to see if things will be moving on time. i did reach out to corporate delta. we're still waiting to get more information from them as to when the problem will be fixed and when the flights will start moving again. roaring live at philadelphia international, i'm pamela osborne. a victim was shot in the face overnight inside a home on south 7th street. police are calling it a suspicious death but are not calling it a homicide yet. 6:33. happening today in delaware, a teenager is charged with negligent homicide in the death of 16-year-old amy joyner francis. she died after being beaten in a
bathroom at howard high school of technology in wilmington. the judge will decide if the suspect's case could be moved to a higher court and what punishment the crime should carry. two other girls also face charges. we're not saying the names bauer they're all under age. friday, fbi and irs agents searched south philadelphia, the home and bar of the local ibew boss. they also searched the union headquarters in union hall in spring garden and philadelphia city councilman bobby heinen's office. before serving on city council, heinen was the union's political director. the union says allegations of financial impropriety are somewhat puzzling.ç back in 2006, the fbi searched
dougherty's home as part of a tax fraud investigation into an electr electrical contractor. dougherty wasn't charged in that case and wonhasn't been charged this case. the lansdale, trenton, manayunk, glenside will be working on alternate schedules. new this morning, changes have been made to water facilities in horsham township montgomery county. here are picks of filters that the horsham water and sewage authority recently added to make sure the water is clean. also all public wells in horsham will be tested on a monthly basis, instead of quarterly. next week, officials will begin randomly sampling tap water at
homes across the township. people in the area believe chemicals used at the now defunct willow grove naval air station may have leaked into their water supply. donald trump is expected to outline his poe posal on tax cuts. democrat hillary clinton campaigns in florida today. she'll detail her plan for jobs and manufacturing on thursday. also in drit to the same group trump is speaking to today. while hillary clinton is gaining in national polls, a new "washington post"/abc news poll has the former secretary of state leading donald trump by eight points among registered voters. that is double the lead clinton had before the political convention. >> now your nbc 10 first alert weather. >> 6:36.

afternoon. a few more clouds around at 5:00 during the day today. temperatures going up, the humidity dropping during the day today, making for a comfortable afternoon, even though they will see scattered clouds. look at those numbers coming down. the humidity way down by later today for philadelphia and allentown. it will be a bit higher in new jersey. at the shore, you'll feel a sea breeze. you'll feel the additional humidity. the temperatures will be lower with the sea breeze, today anyway. there's a heat wave ahead later this week. the temperatures will take off. we'll start to see the temperatures build tomorrow. 90 degrees in allentown. by thursday, we'll shall in the 90s starting wednesday in philadelphia and into the middle 90s in philadelphia on thursday. you see the warmup for dover and even at the shore we'll warm up, temperatures should stay short of the 90 degree mark later this week. but with the humidity will come some of these. showers and thunderstorms will be watching the storms to the south for today and tomorrow. they'll be moving our way,

michael phelps had a great leg in the relay 4 x 100. what's the buzz on phelps in rio? >> the buzz on phelps in rio is that he's a changed man. he seems more calm, more relaxed and dedicated to making this team as good as it can be. you saw it last night, second leg in the relay, lays the lead for the americans and they never relinquish it. another gold medal for michael phelps. and pretty good, katie ledecky, she's in the water winning another gold medal. she has a chajs for at least three more. she'll be back in the water today. she's just become a phenomenon, 19 years old, loves what she's doing and shares that with everything she talks to. let's talk about the rest of today, men's and women's basketball, not a lot to say about that. it's kind of a foregone
