parkway. that man had been shot as well. it's unclear how. the driver of that car was taken into custody for questioning. the state police tell us the shooting happened on the ac expressway near mile post 12 around 3:00 in the afternoon yesterday. the driver of the white suv was able to get to the egg harbor wawa where they asked for help. >> they almost sideswiped me coming in. when they parked, the driver was like, please help us, we've been shot. i said i can't help but but i'll call the cops. >> police aren't sure if the people in the suv and car were shooting at each other or if there were more vehicles involved. right near the main crime scene, police say they found a number of weapons they believe are connected to the shooting. so far, police have not identified the victims but we do know they're all under the age of 40. the motive for the shooting is still under investigation. reporting live at new jersey state police headquarters this
morning, i'm pamela osborne, nbc 10 news. the time is 4:31. 74 degrees outside. new this morning, police in wilmington are searching for the driver who crashed a car after a chase. skyforce 10 was over the scene. this is 9th and harrison streets where new castle county police were pursuing the vehicle when it crashed into a parked car. we're working to get more details in the chase and the driver who took off. in southwest philadelphia, police arrested two people in this car that slammed into an auto zone store. car went out of control at 70th and ellwood. a woman walking into the store was hurt was is expected to be okay. in philadelphia, two children are recovering after one of them playing with a gun accidentally shot both. nbc 10 was on the scene in south philadelphia. police told us a 1 -year-old boy had the gun when it went off, a 12-year-old girl in the knee. both children are in stable condition at the hospital. no word on who owned the gun or
if charges will be filed. the pennsylvania senate will reconvene to vote on a new attorney general. governor tom wolf nominated bruce beemer to take over the post. beemer is a top aide to kathleen kane. kane was tried and convicted of leaking grand jury information and lying about it under oath. the jury convicted her on conspiracy, perjury and obstruction of justice. police believe a burglary suspect in bucks county is responsible for a string of her break-ins. steven hermann was arrested. they are checking other burglaries in falls and bristle township and lower makefield ands moreville. police are investigating swastikas. they were discovered in monmouth

4:42. we're following breaking news out of camden. a chaotic scene there. you can see from this video just in to nbc 10. a car smashed into homes along newton and haddon avenues. the vehicle smashed into a number of parked cars before hitting the home. six people are displaced. no one is being let in or out because of safety concerns. nbc 10's monique braxton is on her way. she'll bring us a live update in the next hour. firefighters are still putting out hot spots after an historic philadelphia church burned for hours. here's a live look at that scene
in overbrook. three blocks of lansdowne avenue are still closed to traffic. the fire started around 9:00 yesterday morning at the good shepherd presbyterian church. the building known as the church on the hill stood here for a century. it was home to fiveç congregations. black smoke could be seen for miles. josephine mack and her mother were able to get out of the church safely. >> it just felt really fierce. it blew my mind the way the smoke was twirling and coming through the floor. i panicked and called for my mom to get out. >> fire crews were able to stop the flames from spreading to homes hentd church. the cause of the fire will not be determined until all the hot spots are out. 4:43. decision 2016 returns to pennsylvania today. hillary clinton's running mate, tim kaine will make two campaign stops right here in the keystone state. the democratic virginia senator is scheduled to stop in erie and lancaster. tomorrow he'll be in bethlehem

that's a tropical depression. lots of moisture there and lots of activity in the ocean. there is a risk that we could see of some activity, even though this storm is forecast to stay offshore. now, the forecast is for it to become a minimal tropical storm by 8:00 this evening. even if that doesn't happen and even if it stays offshore as it's expected to, it will provide our area with a rip current risk along the coast. it's not just through wednesday. there's another storm we're watching, this one could be stronger and affecting the southeast and then heading offshore. that one is a possibility into sunday morning. and even as it pulls away from our area on labor day it could pose a risk of rip currents. so you're heading to the shore, heading to the delaware beaches. be aware, a beach hazard, dangerous rip currents. there's a moderate risk along the coast, right on through labor day. for us, sunshine will be bright for the entire area.

from our jersey shore bureau, trump taj mahal owner carl icahn rejected a union bid to save the struggling casino. this follows a meeting yesterday. the union says it offered a deal that would have cost only $1.3 million a year more than icahn's final offer. icahn says the taj will close october 10th as planned. parts of the busy atlantic city expressway became a bullet-riddled crime scene. >> five shot, one of them died. we'll say why police say this was no random crime. nex next, an eagle in hollywood.
