we may see that drop into the 40s this morning. we still have time before the sun comes up. once it's up, we start our climb into the low 80s for philadelphia. nothing but sunshine for somerton and center city. the suburbs, lansdale, doylestown up to 80 degrees, mostly sunny skies. barely any wind in the lehigh valley. near 80 degrees this afternoon. the humidity stays low. for new jersey, 79 in trenton. warmer in evesham township and at the shore, more of an easterly wind. that's going to allow temperatures to warm into the 70s and hold into the middle 70s this afternoon. smyrna, 80 degrees. rehoboth beach upper 70s. lots of sunshine for wilmington. that's today. a look ahead. there's a warmer trend before we get some fall-like weather later in the week. first, jessica boyington has your first alert traffic. >> thanks, bill, starting off in ambler this morning for an accident scene, east butler avenue and north bethlehem pike. moving down to south jersey, there's another accident. this time it's down to an
accident investigation. maurice river township, route 47, closed in both directions around cumberland road. going back up, we're in trooper, an accident and a downed pole situation. this needs to be cleaned up. it's closing off the intersection around ridge pike between first avenue and germantown pike. route 1 at wissahickon avenue. no problems or delays. no lane restrictions or construction to speak of. we'll have updates when i'm back in ten. hillary clinton is taking a break from the campaign trail after nearly collapsing during the 9/11 peopmemorial at groundo yesterday. >> pamela, what's the status of the democratic presidential candidate this morning? >> vai, clinton's doctor released a statement saying that hillary clinton became overheated and dehydrated at the 9/11 memorial. and that she's now rehydrated and recovering nicely. >> are you feeling better?
>> yes. thank you very much. >> despite feeling much better, clinton is following doctor's orders and will be taking a bit of a break from the campaign trail. the democratic presidential candidate was supposed to be in california today and tomorrow. those events have been canceled after yesterday's incident. we're talk become what happened after clinton abruptly left after the 9/11 ?cqsju)p&. she was hardly able to stand or walk when her van arrived to pick her up. clinton's supporter and congressman joe crowley said she seemed perfectly normal at first. >> i was standing right behind secretary clinton and just to her left. it was incredibly stifling, very hot. >> clinton's doctor said she was diagnosed with pneumonia on friday. she was given antibiotics and told to rest. some are saying what we see here is a near textbook example of walking pneumonia where people aren't feeling the greatest but

"the washington post"/abc news poll shows clinton getting 46% of likely voters compared to 41% for trump. here is a live look at the annual 9/11 tribute in light in lower manhattan. a little hard to see. more than 2,700 people lost their lives in the 2001 terror
attacks. the light beams switched on at sundown and will stay little until dawn. today 100 veterans injured during military service will be cycling through our area as pardon of their ride to victory. the trip began on the 15th anniversary of 9/11. the veterans on bicycles and hand cycles will travel from new york, pa, to willow grove, montgomery county. they will finish at the 9/11 memorial in new york on wednesday. communities across our area honored the fallen on september 11th. several first responders lit candles at the garden of reflection in bucks county. >> in my heart there's a great deal of pain and anger as well. there's also a place for honor, an honor i saw and experienced from my fellow responders. >> a broadway producer and former local police officer premiered a new song at the memorial. it's call we were there, a
tribute to the first responders. view local 9/11 tributes on nbc10.com and on our nbc 10 mobile app. in the lehigh valley, we now know what caused an explosion and fire at a natural gas power plan in the northampton county. authorities said a transformer exploded last night at the talen energy plant in lower mount beth bethel. a company spokesperson said no one was hurt. the plant has been shut down. there's no danger to employees or the public. the lower merion school board meets for the first time since a judge ruled it must redo its budget for this school year. >> the judge capped any increase at 2.4%. >> the district now plans to appeal. carson wentz is the talk of philadelphia this morning. >> the rookie quarterback led the eagles to an opening day linc.ry over cleveland at the he was a winner from his first first drive. he lofted a touchdown pass to

bustleton and northeast philadelphia airport is 58. 52 right now in somerton. a pleasant start. you'll need your sunglasses, bright sunshine from the 60s to the 70s and into the low 80s for philadelphia. the suburbs will see brilliant sunshine, upper 70s this afternoon and very little wind in the lehigh valley. it will be a quick turnaround from 57 at 8:00 to 78 degrees at 4:00 this afternoon. sunshine and low humidity for delaware. 75 degrees at lunch time. near 80 degrees this afternoon. look at the sunshine for new jersey. at the shore, cooler with the sea breeze blowing. middle 70s this afternoon. nothing to show you here. nice and clear on the radar and nothing coming our way. it's going to stay dry right on into later in the week. there is a chance we'll get showers late on wednesday. there will be a few more clouds around. this is a three-day outlook. look at the warmup from the low have today, still comfortable tomorrow with lower humidity. we will warm into the middle 80s
and then 90 degrees wednesday afternoon. you'll see a similar warmup for the suburbs. 83 degrees tomorrow. 87 degrees, even though it will be warmer on wednesday than today and tomorrow, the humidity will not be like what we felt last week. will be going up some but it will be manageable. 87 degrees in new jersey. on wednesday, the next couple days will be cool with pleasant temperatures. at theç shore, you'll see the warmup, too. middle 70s. warmer tomorrow and into the 80s with more of a southwesterly wind on wednesday. delaware, very low 80s today and tomorrow with low humidity and the humidity starts creeping back in with temperatures moving up into the upper 80s to near 90 degrees. a look beyond this when the cooler weather will return with the 10 day on 10 in just a few minutes. >> see you then, bill. 5:09 on this monday morning. let's get a look at the roads for your monday morning commute. >> including the blue route. nbc 10 first alert traffic reporter jessica boyington has that. jess? >> vai and tracy, the blue route looks great.

5:13. college football player is facing charges after punching a referee in the middle of a game in southern california. this happened during a game between mount san antonio college and ventura college. the ref stepped in to break up an on-field fight. that's when the player hit him, and the ref fell to the ground. he was immediately removed from the game.
philadelphia area man is representing pennsylvania in a food truck battle. >> matt delucia is live in center city. how did this guy get into the national competition? >> it's a big accomplishment, tracy and vai, considering this guy has no food truck experience whatsoever. he was laid off from his corporate job three years ago and thought, why not. jerry's kitchen is trying to win thomas english muffin's breakfast battle. 50 food trucks are competing to win a grand prize of $25,000. jerry's is the only local truck that has entered. here's a big challenge. a lot of this is about what you can see. because people can't necessarily get out and taste all of these sandwiches throughout the country. that might be quite a mission if you want to take that on. the point is to use an english muffin. jerry's made what they call the brit's muff sandwich. >> this is the first partnership with a national company.
i'm not like, let's get in a contest every single week. it does take time and effort, especially developing recipes, et cetera. our core business is serving our customers. it's fun. it's a fun experience. >> he goes from being laid off to now on the national stage with his food truck. the online contest starts today, jerry's food truck and travels around the area. a lot of time to corporate events. sometimes by drexel's campus at 33rd and arch. you can always find out where they are through jerry's food truck social media there. and we tweeted out a link to the contest as well. live in center city, matt delucia, nbc 10 news. >> i could use a visit to jerry's food truck right now. great weather for yesterday's tenth annual mt. airy village fair. kid rode bikes, played games and made crafts. there was also plenty of live musing and food to enjoy.
5:15. a check of 95 on this monday morning. >> jessica boyington has her eyes on that. >> 95 looks great. we're starting off around woodhaven road, southbound from woodhaven road to the vine street expressway area. moving toward center city, just a 13-minute trip. you can see we have no problems. just a couple cars out the door. southbound lanes in here. no;h(roblems headed northboundy that point. in franconia, we were watching for a disabled vehicle. heading out the door in trooper, an accident scene and downed pole blocking part of the road there. it's closed on ridge pike. 422 looks okay as you can see. we still have a green windy road there. eastbound from 29 to the schuylkill expressway. still a seven-minute trip. we're not seeing any increase yet. we're still about an hour ahead. speeds are still into the 60s whether you're headed east or westbound. in ambler, an accident on east butler avenue and north bethlehem pike. a few things going on. i'll keep you updated.
we'll keep you updated when i'm back in the next ten minutes. now your nbc 10 first alert weather. >> a beautiful start this morning, a cool start, especially in the lehigh valley. skies are clear and the wind is very light this morning. and should stay light through the day today. 55 degrees in the lehigh valley. middle 50s also for the suburbs while it's in the low 60s. lower 60s for delaware, philadelphia and south jersey. sunshine and these numbers will be climbing, 52 in lenhartsville, leesport is 54 degrees and 51 in whitehall. may even see 40s this morning. it's dry enough and the wind is light enough. barely moving, winds today of 3 miles an hour in the lehigh valley. during the day, we'll see more of a sea breeze coming in off the ocean. to will keep the shore cooler while the rest of the area, still pleasant, low 80s this afternoon. cooler than yesterday. tomorrow, a different story.
look at those winds shifting. they become more southerly. that's the beginning of a warmup for our area that will have us near 90 degrees later this week on wednesday. but it looks like a one-day warmup. we are in the clear right now. no clouds or barely any clouds. just a few high clouds moving through central new jersey, to the north and west. if you look far enough, you can find showers and thunderstorms moving through montana and north dakota. that's important for us. this is what's going to cool things down later in the week. this will move into our area. but before it does, we'll get a warmup that will have us into the upper 80s and near 90 degrees on wednesday. until we get there, beautiful weather for today and tomorrow. humidity very low today. still nice and comfortable tomorrow. 60s in the morning, 85 in the afternoon. scattered clouds building ahead of that cold front, 90 degrees, the high temperature after a morning low of 64 degrees. the humidity won't be bad. it will come up some on
wednesday. that will give us a slight chance of a shower. it will be nice if some of the showers are in north dakota and made it here. we certainly need the rain. doesn't look likely. if we do get a shower, it will be late wednesday and early thursday then we'll be drying out. 79 degrees on thursday. turning cooler for friday, 76. a real fall preview at the end of the week. the numbers start climbing once again on saturday. partly sunny skies to start with. more clouds later in the day, as we see a chance finally with showers and thunderstorms on wednesday. wednesday, 85 degrees the high temperature. we're clearing out for monday, tuesday and wednesday. the ten-day has it in the low 80s with partly sunny skies. >> thank you, bill. north philadelphia tribute to first responders, police officers andç firefighters, nb 10 was at feria del badio festival.

5:22. breaking news out of alabama. a person is dead and five others wounded in a shooting after a stop the violence event last night in birmingham. the vicks with are found at a housing complex right after the rally in a nearby park. police are not sure the two are hr(t&háhp &hc there are no arrests. millennials are buying fewer homes than members of other generations. a study shows home ownership rates have fallen across all age groups for the past seven years. and the biggest drop continues to be the millennial generation. with mortgages harder to get since the housing collapse of 2009, the home ownership rate of 25 to 39-year-olds is just 49%. a research center record found nearly half the country's 65 to 75-year-olds are still working, many only part time, putting off full-time retirement. another survey found seven in
